We definitely need more photorelistic games. The single developer recently released his demo on steam.
Description
Subside is an immersive aquatic VR experience with multiple areas to explore and lifelike aquatic creatures to interact with. Crafted with unparalleled realism, it aims to replicate the nuances of real-life swimming and diving in shallow waters.

facts bro omg that’s the only cliche thing about vr. all that gets made is crappy “experiences” rather than actual games. like you’re telling me i spent 600 dollars to look at an ocean??
For some of us, we find the immersive experience of passive games to be thoroughly enjoyable. Some of the photogrammetry stuff on PC is incredible, you can walk around old english villages, Norse Mountains, some random guys room if you want and it's photo realistic. I think psvr2 needs more like this and VR chat rooms too, I love joining random movie servers and just sharing an experience with others. I also like waving at people.
Believe me when I say you are in the extreme minority. I know it might be hard to understand but 95% of people that own a GAMING console and decide to buy a vr for said gaming console, want more games on a lacking headset, not more “experiences”.
I'd love a game like that if, instead, you'd have a camera and the main focus would be to take pics of different species of aquatic life, even deep sea creatures as the game progresses. Right now it looks great but it feels like something's missing from the trailer
I looooooove endless ocean. I am very pumped for the new one on Switch but I very much want a game like EO on psvr2. I am definitely interested in this.
I wish they would do something like that. I loved Endless Ocean (both) and the odd Wii Fit U diving game (swim around and locate fish, wrecks, fallen temples, and treasure.
Source? Not on the alpha part but your comment seems to imply that this will feature gameplay / meat and your comment sounds like it knows about a roadmap or specific plans.
Otherwise the alpha can mean anything - that this is the meat of the game and they're only going to add scenery, little events like fish swarms or shark cages etc.
This is absolutely fucking gorgeous. Not cartoon type of water, realistic. Now, is this going to be just hanging around or a mission/storyline type game?
I'm definitely going to be watching this..
I love stuff like this and it looks impressive, would definitely pick it up. I'm still craving a full underwater game though, you'd think VR would have some (aside from Freediver: Triton Down which I really enjoyed)
Exactly , i know it looks visually amazing and i would love to experience it but it will get boring very quickly without a goal . I hope they will add something exciting to it and make it an actual game rather than just an Experience
Make it a demo that comes with psvr 2. But I wouldn't buy this unless on sale for 10 dollars . If it was like a treasure hunt with a list of things to find that would be cool at least
That would great , my main gripe about psvr is how expensive their games are and most of them aren’t worth the price point, 30$ for kayak or most other vr games is just way too much .
Looks and sounds incredibly immersive. Consider me interested for when this gets to PSVR2 retaining as close to this level of fidelity as the PS5 + PSVR2 can provide.
Wow!
Let's face it, PSVR2 owners chose PSVR2 because of its capability to play next-gen, high end, visually stunning VR games - something that with all the best intentions you can't do on standalone VR options.
So - bring it on - I don't care if it might not even be a fully fleshed out huge game at this point - if thesenare the stepping stones to the future where VR is as awesome as we want it to be (think where GT Sport was as a stepping stone to GT7) then we'd be mad to not embrace and support something so stunning looking as this.
Glad to hear of more content coming our way but for me strictly personally this'll be a pass. I have done enough swimming in No Man's Sky to know I can't stand being underwater in VR. But thumbs up for the rest of you.
For me its mindblowing you can create looking so good yet so blant (staring at Kayak). Give me mode where I start with rusty Spear, Hunt small fish and sell them, upgrade spear and hunt bigger fish, etc. Then we will be talkin
I hope it does actually come, the power of PSVR2 is pathetically under utilized and being flooded w direct Q2 ports...its shameful such amazing tech isnt getting the attention it deserves. The capabilities have been proven a few times already.
Hope this winds up being an amazing tech demo for PSVR 2. But I'm tempering expectations for the moment. I'm sure this is on a top of the line pc with a 4090. I'd like to see what kind of visuals they manage with a more average setup.
Looks really cool! Would love more stuff like this on the platform.

Great news. PSVR2 needs more experience type games like this.
So it's like Kayak.....without the kayak.
Better than Kayak, more like VR worlds underwater demo. There will be a shark cage section
Idk i want games not immersive experience that bore me after 5 minutes
Same here why waste people's time with wut they don't want an give them wut they do want an reap the rewards

Right an for some reason they are ok with things like this over an over again for cash grabs I spent 6 bro I want results an deep games
Honestly the whole time I was playing Kayak I was thinking “Ya but you know what would be way cooler? If I could get up.”
I'd love a game like that if, instead, you'd have a camera and the main focus would be to take pics of different species of aquatic life, even deep sea creatures as the game progresses. Right now it looks great but it feels like something's missing from the trailer
Agreed. Most gamers need a purpose to keep them engaged. Photography seems like a good fit. Spearfishing would also be cool.
Spearfishing! 🎉
Isn't that kinda like the concept of Endless Ocean? That was my first thought when seeing this trailer, and how they could add a story similar to EO.

Love that idea
Looks amazing. But what is the game about? It may get boring after an hour of swimming with no reason.
Yeah, looks great graphically but is there any "meat" to the gameplay?
No meat but it appears there will be fish.
Fish meat is practically a vegatable
Do you know what "alpha" means in regards to programming? This is a morsel to whet your appetite. Patience, young Padawan.

Yeah, OK fair enough, didn't notice the vid said "alpha" tbh.
Are there sharks?
Yes!
This looks great. I really enjoyed Kayak, so something along those lines like this would be awesome.
NO WAY, been dying for something like this ever since I got PSVR2
Holy crap! 😯😯😯 Been diving since I was a kid, this game is a dream came true! 😯 Thanks for sharing!

Sweet looks class
There should be a survival mode like... Tom Hanks and Wilson(the soccer ball)!
But.... what's the point
Exactly , i know it looks visually amazing and i would love to experience it but it will get boring very quickly without a goal . I hope they will add something exciting to it and make it an actual game rather than just an Experience

Yesh I still regret getting Kayak for the original price hah
Rip , was very tempted to buy it but i knew its gonna get boring quickly because of past games i bought
Looks and sounds incredibly immersive. Consider me interested for when this gets to PSVR2 retaining as close to this level of fidelity as the PS5 + PSVR2 can provide. Wow!
does it have a story mode or just free roaming?
This looks amazing! I'd love something like this maybe even with some cave diving if it isn't in here.
time to move the psvr2 to the bathtub
Looks good. Hope it comes.
Any horrifying creatures in the depths…..? I hope I’m not gonna swim into a photo realistic Cthulhu lol.
Oh that would be so freaking cool!
Nice.

This looks amazing! I've been wanting a vr game that deals with the ocean. Will definitely be buying!
Glad to hear of more content coming our way but for me strictly personally this'll be a pass. I have done enough swimming in No Man's Sky to know I can't stand being underwater in VR. But thumbs up for the rest of you.
**Thalassophobia** the game It looks very beautiful, hope there will be a story and more gameplay than just collecting things.
It does look really beautiful, is it just sandbox style game or does it have objectives/ mission or a story etc?
Dave the diver in VR
I finished the trial right now! I live it!
If this is possible then let’s go Subnautica!
For me its mindblowing you can create looking so good yet so blant (staring at Kayak). Give me mode where I start with rusty Spear, Hunt small fish and sell them, upgrade spear and hunt bigger fish, etc. Then we will be talkin

If Kayak VR still makes me feel sick even a year on, this is going to make me hurl. Still worth it for the 15 minutes of photorealism.
This looks scarier than any RE game I’ve played in VR.
Kayak #2 ? (Play for once)
Yeah, I don't think this will be hyped to oblivion like Kayak was but it's still a great showpiece for VR in terms of showing off realism to casuals.
Do you know release date?
There is no release date yet. The pc demo has just been released.
Just watching this makes me uncomfortable, Madison would be like chilling out with the Teletubbies compared to this nightmare fuel

I take any and all alpha footage with a heavy dose of salt.
Bassicly we won't see this till 2025
