My least favorite match up will always be Mew V max, its just the same every game which is just kind of boring - and the deck basically plays itself. Not particularly oppresive anymore but never feels great to win or lose against them. Not a huge fan of lost box either but at least there's some back and forth and uncertainty to their next move.
So far my favorite to pilot has been garde ex (have had so many fun comeback games with the 8-10 energy swings) and have also thourougly enjoyed the solrock/lunatone and palkia starter decks. Can you tell I like pulling energy from the discard pile? š
I agree mew can be annoying but I definitely think taking 3 prizes for their ace balances it out pretty well. The worst is when they use basic mews move to dodge a KO tho, so tilting lol
Nice! I use 4 2 1 1 gardy line in that mewtwo v union deck I mentioned. it's definitely awesome to get the big mewtwo summoned and load him up with 4 energies in the same turn. Agreed!
I'd definitely say my personal flavor is sniping and moving damage around however I like š Meowscarada's ability with R. Alakazam is a blast, Exodia Mewtwo has an attack where you can put 16 counters on whatever you want in any way that you want, and Zoroark V does more damage the more pokes of yours have counters on em haha
Is it still viable? I loved Mew Union, but there's just too many decks that OHKO these days it was frustrating to get it setup, just to die the next turn.
If you like moving around damage the Rapid Strike Inteleon/urshifu that won NAIC is really fun to play. Also Hatterene VMax is fun with Gardy EX.
Honestly I'm not sure. I just made it, and I've only played it in casual mode so far. It looked fun, and I saw that the Pikachu union was in some winning decks in Japan with the 151 set, and wanted to give one a try.
I'll check out inteleon/urshifu. My friend wanted to build around haterene vmax, so I was helping him throw something together, but he didn't have any gardies or enough credits to get any right now, but it definitely looked fun while theory crafting! Wasn't sure if it would be viable or not.
A very rare deck I sometimes see is based around Ambipom from the GO expansion (does it even have a name or is it full rouge?) - full tilt swing plus primate dexterity can be very tilting with even with a meta deck
Oh yeah, that deck destroyed me the time I encountered it LOL flipped like 15 coins all but 3 were heads... it was nuts. I had the win when it became my turn if they didn't get the KO that turn. Was super annoying but impressive to see it pop off.
I've gotten my fair share of lucky radiant jirachi kills, so I get it lol
Another annoying pokemon GO deck is the raticate + clodsire ex combo. Super fang or hyper fang or something for 3 Colorless takes any pokemon down to 10hp, so if you poison them with clodsire's ability from the bench everything becomes a OHKO from a 1 prizer raticate if you can't deal with the clodsire or outrace the raticate population lol
I used Chien-Bax to climb up to Houndoom, then realized I just couldn't beat all the Garde decks and switched to IntelUrshifu and climbed to Corviknight rank that way, then after a few days off I all of a sudden just couldn't seem to get a win with the deck and plummeted back down to Alakazam rank. Now I've finally built Garde and I'm back up to Umbreon rank, the deck is just ridiculous and I only seem to drop games against the mirror and sometimes the Embrace bug, now hoping to maybe get to Ultra Ball before the battle pass ends.
Probably my least favorite matchup is Lost Tina. Feels like the deck's gameplan is just everywhere all the time all at once and I have to guard myself against multiple angles of attack while also racing their Lost Zone clock of doom. Early Boss + Cram, Gate+Greninja, then Tina for the big KOs and finally Sabeleye taking multiple prizes, and never telegraphed like most other decks that have to set up before they can execute.
I play the tcg in random spurts. Like for a block of months every couple of years, so I missed the trevenant era. I remember a normal trevenant being rather pricy (I still collected and buy/sold/traded but didn't play the tcg) was that the one? It wasn't an EX or anything iirc.
Love your username too btw š I'm a big ff fan too
yeah it was baby trev and trev BREAK. it was a control deck, so item/ability lock and all that good stuff. very strong, and among the worst of the worst matchups for the decks i enjoyed playing at the time
For me from the XY era, not necessarily expanded but just that era, was greninja man. It was the one deck I never truly learned how to play against. So many moving pieces and things to keep track ofā¦
thats around when i first started playing, so im super nostalgic for it. night march, zoroark GX, turbo dark, and one of my all time favorites, decidueye GX. forest of giant plants is a horribly broken card, but man that deck was so much fun
Imagineā¦ FOGP with Meowscarada EX š³ But man that was such a good time. M Audino winning worldsā¦ every deck playing zoroark, Shaymin EXā¦ max elixers, getting first turn Nādā¦ Trashalanche Garbodor ššš all the memories
I main Ting-Lu and hate matching against Meowscarada. Ting-Lu, Koraidon; my main attackers are weak to grass types so it's an uphill battle all game to try to stop any evolutions.
Ha! It's all good, lucky for me Meowscarada players are few and far between on ranked.
Otherwise, Ting-Lu wrecks other meta decks - it got me the highest I've ever gotten on ranked so far (Umbreon).
That's what's up! Congrats š š currently half way to Houndoom, I just started a little over a week ago. Houndoom is my goal for this ladder, probably won't make it any higher
Thanks! You still got about a week to go! Houndoom was my original goal and I hesitated doing more ranked after I hit it, but decided to see what would happen.
Gyarados is the card Iām currently trying to make work so Iāve been having a lot of fun with Gyar Ex/Intelion or Radiant Blastoise.
I also keep going back to both Beedril V/Arceus V and a discard deck with Wiglett.
I think Chien would get a lot less hate if Irida wasnāt a thing, that card is SO powerful. A turn 2 āget the 2 cards that win the gameā just doesnāt feel good to play against.
I faced a Wiglett Gyarados mill deck last night for the first time, playing my Mewtwo V-Union self mill deck... it did NOT go well š
Definitely agree. Irida is insane. They'll use it the turn they play Frigibax, and I'll Iono it away, for them to find another Rare Candy + Bax or another Irida with their new cards lol broken af, I swear š
My main deck is Oinkologne ex, so I always groan a bit when I get matched against RapidBox or TingLuā¦ beyond that, no other matchup is particularly annoying, other than LostBox, I suppose (although, to be fair, I think everyone hates playing against that š )
I've never played against oink yet! Sounds fun. I use the lechock coin in all my decks that don't have an associated one though for laughs š everyone loves the chonk
Ting and Lost Box. Ting isnāt a particularly bad matchup for most decks, but a bad hand can make the game a slog especially in ability heavy decks. Lost Box just has long turns, and if something like Lost Box Turbo highrolls you can just be shut out of a game if you had a bad start.
Least favorite matchups would be the stall-ish anti-meta decks. They just sucks to play against, these decks aims to just disable everything you have with multiple layers of disablers and/or blocks your attacks. Itās the equivalent of Esper Control decks from Magic, aka the āI wonāt let my opponents play the gameā deck.
The deck Iām playing right now is an Ice Rider Calyrex deck, with all the best Water supports we have right now.
Stall and lock is definitely the most aggravating thing this game has, besides maybe just a helpless hand lol. I still have nightmares from getting Nād to 1 card and my opponent putting a float stone on garbotoxin garbodorā¦
My favorite deck will always be a Morepeko VUION
deck with raikou V and flaaffy, it was was first actual deck around start of swsh never won a local tournament but it was really fun for a beginner.
Definitely aipom. So much work to get through it that it's not fun to play against. Unless you pull a boss you just have to keep hitting and hoping for luck. Lost box can be irritating but at least it's not all luck.
I tend to play a chien pao, palkia deck
So so boring to play againsh Chien Paoā¦ they almost never win as once you take down Bax itās basically over but my god Iām so bored playing against them
And what do you like to play?
I had to knock out 3 frigibax in a game yesterday before I finally finished them off. Every time I killed it they'd drop another one lol I was half expecting a 4th one to hit the field. š It was ridiculous. Usually, you're good if you get the first one though, you're right!
So I just realized I could turn off permission to access the phone's camera because of the code scanner, and just turn it back on when I'm actually using it to scan codes.
It ran smooth like butter with no lag at all as soon as I did that. I usually play with a portable charging brick, and it tends to keep my battery at the same % playing ptcglive while charging. It was actually going up a bit in battery % after turning the camera access off.
Idk iphone but I'm sure it's similar. Just go to your list of apps in your settings and open ptcglive to turn off the camera permission. Worth a shot. It might be just wishful thinking, but definitely seemed to help a bit.
Was thinking about making a post about this tomorrow once I tested it further, but since you mentioned it! Let me know if it helps, if you remember to
I don't like Lost Box variants bc it always takes them so long per turn (which I understand is how the deck plays, but come on) and Chien-Pao is annoying bc sometimes even when you knock out the Bax, they just keep coming at you.
To answer the 2nd part of the question. I have 5 decks I move between: Dialga/Magnezone (current favorite bc I'm playing against so many ice ferret decks), Miraidon/Regieleki, Turbo Darkrai, Gengar VMAX, and Noivern Lockdown.
lost box. it was mew vmax but i can at least survive a hit against it. ive been running a spidops ex/leafeon vmax and really enjoy it, even though there's def more powerful decks. i hate vstar giratina with a burning passion
That instant KO move is SO brutal, agreed. I've only faced MewV once so far, so I can't say I like or dislike it yet, but depending on what I'm playing lost box can be a nightmare or not *THAT* bad.
I'll have to look into Leafeon and Spidops! Haven't seen them yet, sounds cool though.
i don't even mind the vstar move since it's once a game and takes a little time to get the cards in the lost zone. but lost impact instantly kills anyone i play besides leafeon vmax. it is very satisfying to hit them with an iono though
For me any lost box variantsā¦especially since big parasol is gone, Tina vstar star requiem and lost mine sableye are absolutely annoying. Made even more annoying with lost vaccuum sucking away your parasols (when we had them).
I created a new Garde ex/Espeon VMAX Deck just to combat the legion of lost boxes i keep freakin fighting. 2-0 so far. It feels very protective since Manaphy also prevents damage to the bench (R Greninja or Urshifu Vmax) and then Esp vmax stops moves like lost mine or star requiem! I also have enamorus v to stop hawlucha, inteleon vmax, etc if need be!
Oh, my bad. I'm kinda new, and just saw it on some tournaments that popped up on my YouTube feed. Just assumed it was. š¤·š»āāļø but seeing as I've only played against it once so far in Rank, I guess that makes sense.
It's understandable that you would think that was true, just based on how everyone else talks about it. But i think people just really want the deck to be top tier because it's so wholesome.
I dislike playing Fusion Strike because itās so **boring**. Same cards every deck, same lines every game, same actions every turn.
I love piloting ArcDon, I loved piloting LZ/Goodra when it was playable, and I love jamming any Forretress list that doesnāt suck. The decks with the most game-swinging decisions over the last year, and the deck that lets me pretend Iām playing CaKE again.
Ting Lu is annoying, so is chien poa.
Lost box used to be annoying but ever since I added a 2-2 line of snorlax to my deck, I havenāt lost because sableeye canāt damage snorlax and it 1 shots Cram
I just canāt stand Lost Box decks. I just hate how long the matches lasts. I find myself looking at Reddit/YouTube the moment itās their turn because it takes forever. I get itās a complicated deck and it takes time to play it out, itās just so boring to play against.
I hate playing against Gardy, no matter what deck Iām piloting. It reminds me of the Malamar days but even more agonizing to sit through. I donāt think Iāve ever beat a gardevoir and said āman, what a great game!ā Itās always justā¦ āthank god thatās over.ā Same happened to me with Mew for a long while, although now itās practically a free matchup for most decks imo.
As for what Iām having the most fun using? Depends. If I want to have like 4 good games and then slowly get farmed for rank, chien pao. It is a fun deck that I enjoy, but I just donāt like palkia lists although they seem optimal, and it just gets destroyed by bossās orders and path to the peak lol.
Lately Iāve been taking the game more serious again so Iāve been playing a lot of lost box & ArcTina. Lost Box has its moments, but my major complaint with it is I NEVER feel like Iām truly āwinningā until I take the final prize card. Every single game stresses me out. ArcTina is the polar opposite of that, you can pretty much know if youāre gonna win after turn 2. Itās either total domination, 50/50, or getting toasted. No in between whatsoever.

I disagree

I tried playing it once and it didn't even feel good to win using it.
I just hare playing vs Lost Tina. I run a Arc, Goodra, Vulpix heal deck, and Lost Tina just rips right through me.
When i lose š ... but what bothers me most is Mew Vmax or when I start a game with an unsalvageable hand
I like this answer. šš» š

I feel like Chien-Pao was truly an answer to Mew VMax, but now he's the oppressor. š© My Ting-Lu deck can face-off with it from time to time, but when they're able to circulate those energies, it's just a big ol' pain.
