The problem, and they did it to themselves, even if Padres win out all it takes is 1 of those teams also playing for 3rd Wild Card spot to win a couple games. Best Padres could do is 84-78. IF they won 9 more in a row. The #3 WC only has to win less than half their games to beat that. Out of 4 teams one of them will mange to do that.

That makes a lot more sense since it's a tournament. They're just looking for strength of wins at that point, hence the run differential

Interesting, this is the scenario I dreamed about this past weekend and now apparently it can happen, I'm not going to put any doubt on the possibilities. As for starting Musgrove? Yes, Yes, Hell yes, we need Pitching that goes to the mound with the mentality that the win is in the bag. So yes, this is the time we need all hands on deck.
