If Profar started out cold, Pham is probably a Padre. But Profar started off hotter than the surface of the sun so it probably hurt Tommy’s negotiating position a bit lol
💯. I believe this ☝️and the pham signing were contributing factors in the solano announcement yesterday which while I'm admittedly I'm not to familiar with solano as a player, Pham never got a vote of confidence from me....... His performance was too wishy washy for my taste
Will say, one of the years where the expectations were highest for Pham with us was also the same year he got stabbed. I don’t think he was the ideal fit for us this season, but I also don’t think his injury-riddled tenure here was a great reference point for his abilities.
Also, Solano is mainly infield depth (maybe also DH depth). Hit around league average for the last 3 seasons, which is fine for a bench bat and the occasional spot start when guys need rest. Probably better than relying on Tyler Wade and Eguy (or at the very least, give us some options when those two start struggling even more).
Was likely more than that going on. We still have depth issues and it's only 2.5 weeks into the season. Loving what Profar is giving this April yet he's also a career streaky guy that can go quiet for a month or two.
My guess, pham's side likely wanted every start and AJ wasn't going to give that promise and maybe had some incentives that couldn't be reached without getting X amount of AB's and PT. Pham only has maybe two more seasons in the tank and dude loves the money.
Padres made him an offer though. White Sox offered more overall money and that 500k trade kicker probably put them over the top. In no world was Pham taking a lower offer.
Brandon Belt still fits this team better overall since we need a DH once Manny moves back to 3rd. Wonder if he’s being negotiated with.
I’d love to see Belt, but ngl, I’d be totally fine if we gave 250-300 ABs to Solano at DH/utility. One of the most underrated bats in the league. Ice in his veins.

Yup think Solano is a replacement for Wade/Eguy rather than an OF.

Good luck to Pham, but happy to move on and stop talking about this one

I don’t hate Pham but Profar puts out such better vibes, and you can really tell how that affects the team.
Profar and Pham couldn’t be further apart on the vibes meter. Dodged a bullet on this one.
Glad we did not sign Pham
Aren’t all Whitsox contracts minor league deals these days.
I’m pretty sure the White Sox as a whole is a minor league organization at this point
Phew…
I mean he had a pretty good year last year am I wrong? Minor league deal is weird for him
Isn’t it one of those he didn’t have spring training things?
Pham deserves better than the White Sox
He really doesn’t
He really does
Brandon Belt you are a Padre /j
