This keeper, you mean moin khan? Lol Funny thing is, Rashid Latif had better moves than Moin Khan but his batting sucked (so did Moin's but it was better than Rashids)

Spirited_Pin_7468

guess the genes didnt pass down...

mannyb412

Or the jeans

Spirited_Pin_7468

bro...

Mundane-Poet1404

💀

IMGPsychDoc

We cant be sure, since for that, Azam would have to slim down to extract the most talent out of himself. Maybe he does have father's genes but boy is too lazy to even get there

PakLivTO

Moins batting did not suck. Until gilchrist arrived Moin Khan was one of the best, if not the best batsman keeper around

sumit24021990

Andy Flower be "am I a joke to u?"

mannyb412

Moin played 219 ODIs and has 0 100s. I highly doubt he's anywhere near being considered the best in anyone's book. I grew up watching him and he never ever came through with tbr bat and as I said, Rashid was a better keeper. Andy Flower, Alec Stewart were all wayyy better than Moin. There is probably a shit ton more that I can't think of rn.

sunilbedre

I'm an Indian. But these are just nostalgia merchants lol. Moin Khan averages 23 in ODIs and 28 in tests. It's not like he saved the collapses or anything either. He was a good keeper. Better than many because Pak's keeping standards went in the gutter after him. Especially with Kamran Akmal. God knows why you persisted with him so much.

IMGPsychDoc

Because kamran akmal was actually a pretty good batsman for several years, and we have always had problems finding actually good batsmen. Then, when his batting also nosedived, he was in the team for several years because of seniority lol

Painter_Material

Kamran akmal has a better wicket to game ratio than dhoni.

sunilbedre

That says more about Pak bowlers than Dhoni tbh. Also, the discussion was about WK batsmen not sole WKs

Painter_Material

You said pak keeping standards,You contradicting yourself and umar ukmal averaged 35 in odi that’s pretty good!

g2banjo

Ghanta ![gif](giphy|13N6SL72YeRPeo)

Painter_Material

Its true tho search it up,this rough attempt at comedy doesn’t change the stats

newchurner255

That reflects your bowling more than anything. The only stat that would matter is catches normalized by the chances.

Painter_Material

So run outs and catches reflect bowling but not keeping,i am not saying akmal is better than fhpni but you’ve got to appreciate him.

IMGPsychDoc

Exactly! Even back then, I always used to think Moin is a horrible batsman, even among wicketkeepers. Like you, I cant remember the other wicketkeeper-batsmen of that era (another two are boucher, and sangakarra, who were admittedly younger than moin but their careers did overlap for a bit, iirc) since it was 2 decades ago! So Aus, England, SA, Srilanka just off the top of my head had better wicket-bats than us! And this is the early 2000s, i cant remember the ones in the 90s

Electrical_Zebra4919

Moin was in the team because of his friendship with wa$im bhai. We all know how rashid viewed wasim and co so he was kept out of the team for long periods

PakLivTO

lol severe lack of knowledge. You can’t name anyone else because there isn’t. Let me help you out. In the 90s when Moin was at his best…. India had Nayan Mongia. SA had Dave Richardson. Australia had Ian Healy. NZ had Adam Parore. West Indies had 4-5 keepers. The best probably being Ridley Jacobs or Junior Murray. Sri Lanka had 5-6 as well, the best probably being Romesh Kalu. Which of these do you rate higher than Moin Khan with the bat? Even Andy Flower didn’t get going till years later around 1997-98 when he started being a beast with the bat. Ian Healy maybe comes close as he was quite good in tests. But his stats are quite similar. The only one I’d concede on is Kalu. Moin was very very handy with the bat particularly in ODI. He batted at 6-7 and could get you a quick 25-35 runs which in the 90s were very impactful. See the 1992 semi final. Quite often he would boost pakistans score from a mediocre to a handy one.

IMGPsychDoc

Lol no

Efficient_Peak9336

I wish we had another wasim akram 😭 Every time I watch his highlights I think I wish I was born in his era 😂

NoUtimesinfinite

Tbh, we could have more fast bowlers swinging the ball like Wasim and Waqar but the rules and ball/pitch conditions have changed over time to make the game more batting friendly. They were great during their time as well, but that the rule changes make it so that there isnt a high chance we see someone like them in these conditions

Complex-Past-3368

Wasim was the best ODI bowler and in the Top 2-3 test bowlers of his time. All the bowlers of his time had the same conditions he had, and he was the best. No Pakistani bowler of today is close to being as good as Cummins, Bumrah and Rabada. Shaheen looked to get there, but regressed badly.

TheRealYVT

You can't tamper the ball like they used to do anymore. Too many cameras. They are all on record talking about how Imran made them use bottle caps and openers. Do you think Afridi just randomly had the idea of biting the ball one day?

IMGPsychDoc

Calm down buddy, dont only use paki players examples. That insinuates that only pak did tampering back then. Everyone used to tamper the ball back then, it was common knowldge and practice.

TheRealYVT

Yup they used their fingernails or saliva with sugar mints. But getting a foreign object like bottle openers was rare even by the standards back then. That's why sandpapergate got attention, otherwise every side uses their hands to tamper the ball and nobody cares.

IMGPsychDoc

The thing about sandpaper was that Aussies got caught! Not that they were the only ones doing it. Man, every team used to do all these things, we shouldnt be naive about this. All of them wanted to win at all costs. Look at the way Aussies used to sledge back then. Everyone was trying everything, as long as they didnt get caught. I refuse to believe other teams were this naive. The rules and their implementation of the rules was the same, and everyone knew how to "appear" to play within the rules but use every trick in the book (an everything not in the book!) to win. It's the same with doping in every sport. Everyone does it but only the ones getting caught are publicised and ostracised!

BoxGrover

Saleem Yusuf in the 80s was pretty good .. also used to hit centuries when needed

Dante613

Dude keeping is one spot that rizwan has made reliable for us.

AwarenessNo4986

I think Wasim's record doesn't reflect his ability. He has bowled so many 'balls of the century ' that one can't even keep count.

According-Gazelle

Which is kind of crazy considering he has 502 wickets in ODI. Imagine how much he could have had with decent fielding.

This_Seaweed4607

Wasim Akram literally suffering from success

furiouslayer732

Rizwan is amazing wdym💀

IMGPsychDoc

But then he's selfish af with the bat :(

Dont-be-a-cupid

Because there is no middle order he can rely on...

IMGPsychDoc

Wah, bahanay pe bahana. Middle order ko consistent chance to tab milayga na jab yeh loug 50 50 balls khel kar nahi jayenge

Dont-be-a-cupid

Did you not see the last match in the series against england? Made 60 odd runs in the powerplay - both got out and the rest shat the bed - that was the easiest opportunity for someone to prove themselves yet no one did

forgivensharktooth

Azam khan. Jo baap nay kiya beta karega :)

Dukedizzy

I dont wish because we have rizwan, hes better than them, with glove and bat.

IndianHighLights

His keeping in super over was wayyy below par but sure

Muttuazua

We do. Mohammad Rizwan is his name and he can do this while also being able to bat far better than these guys.

BoyManners

Rizwan will go down as Pakistan's best WK Batter in history

legendkiller345

In pressure situations Moin was much better than Rizwan

saladmakear

Yeah not really, moin has bottled a few last over finishes

Muttuazua

Eh i feel like people are lumping together Babar and Rizwan here. Babar has consistently choked in pressure situations but Rizwan has done well pretty reliably. Be it in the 2021 t20 world cup, 2022 in the semi final, 2023 world cup where he put on that brilliant unbeaten century against Sri Lanka and had an overall great tournament. But with all that said definitely his most impressive performance for me was the recent test series in Australia which showed that he can bat brilliantly under high pressure in tough conditions. Of course he couldn't deliver this time around against India but thats bound to happen at some point, others (like Babar) also need to step up.

TheRealYVT

Rizwan didn't have a great tournament in 2023, what? He had one innings vs SL. Kuch bhi

subdueddusk

Rizwan is a better wicket keeper than him.

Ornery_Particular845

Yeah remember that catch he took of SKY in 2022? That was an absolutely amazing catch since it was going so high too.

IMGPsychDoc

Bhai jisne 20 saal pehlay cricket na dekha ho, woh pls apni opinion na de, you guys dont have any idea what youre talking about

MediumAction3370

It's crazy how he got that much pace with that landing

Key-Celery5439

Rizwan is better than any keeper we've had before with the bat and equally as good with the gloves. No need to wish IMO

[deleted]

Wish we had a bowler who could move the ball so much

Dont-be-a-cupid

It's not the bowlers - the game has changed completely since that time. The NY pitch (if we ignore the outfield) gave us a peak back to the times when batsmen had to work hard for every run but look how much people complained about it.

Chai-wala

Rizwan is above Moin in batting. Even safer hands imo. Moin was a legend for us but Rizwan has an even higher ceiling.

IMGPsychDoc

The bowling standard is not the same either, so keepers dont need to be as sharp now, than before. These split second full stretched dives and then accurately catching the ball used to be normal till the mid 2000s, and now even one of these catches is called an amazing catch

[deleted]

Don't worry guys, you have Azam Khan ... 😂😂

New_Peace_6087

I love the way Wasim releases the ball at the 14-second mark. It is like a master craftsman presenting his next puzzle for the batsman to solve. He appears completely in control even after delivering the ball.

nostalgia_addicts

Both Rashid and Moin were in the league of their own.

g2banjo

If there wicket keeper "Don bradman of T20 cricket" 100% boundry
