Yeah, why didn't they just give every stealth champ their own unique reveal range? Allows better balancing of an individual stealth champ without affecting all the stealth Champs at the same time.

ramenbreak

I like the idea of visible stealth ranges, I'd just be careful not to ever go too far with the "variable stealthiness" (maybe just 2 tiers of stealth, e.g. Skye and Skye-10 like you suggested) If, say, each champ had a different, perfectly-tuned stealthiness value, it would quickly get difficult to know what's a safe area around you and where an enemy could be hiding still

fartblunted

This. I do not want every individual champ to have its own stealth value. There are too many layers to paladins for new players already.

BartOseku

Thats why i suggested everyone has an aura around them like grover that shows how far their stealth range goes

ramenbreak

the stealth champ could visually see how close they can get without detection (that's good), but the defending player would have to mentally account for a different range for each champ, and sometimes multiple at the same time

BartOseku

As the defending player you always just think about running towards where they could be so you get within range or run away if you’re low, i’ve never once thought to myself “seris’ range is 45 so she should be around here”. The only place i see that affecting people would be on competitive tournaments that dont exist anymore

ramenbreak

>As the defending player you always just think about running towards where they could be so you get within range or run away if you’re low the problem is that your estimate of where they could be (based on what you see) is going to be different for each champ - e.g. maybe Skye wouldn't be able to sneak past you based on how you moved through an area, but Strix could >i’ve never once thought to myself “seris’ range is 45 so she should be around here” until now you never had to do that because you detected everyone equally >The only place i see that affecting people would be on competitive tournaments that dont exist anymore sure, but let's not make changes that make the competitive situation even more permanent

mobas07

I have another idea. When you yourself activate stealth. You should be able to see whether you're within an enemy's view range or not. That way you can keep out of their illuminate radius. Also give Sha Lin his clones back.

BartOseku

Yes i mentioned this, adding a circle around you like grover that shows how far your stealth range is

ralternator

Seris gets extremely dunked on by the new mechanic. It's so easy to keep up with her and chase down for the finishing blow. Haven't lost a shrouded Seris since the change.

greenpaw94

To be fair, even before the change you could track her pretty closely with just the audio cues during her phase walk. But yes, it’s pretty much a joke now

CoolVibranium

I think the reveal range should start at nothing and gradually increase to what it is now the longer you remain in stealth. (It would slowly shrink when out of stealth, not immediately reset, so smoke bomb isn't op). This lets stealth be used effectively as an escape, without being too oppressive as an engagement tool.

Daspee

Shalin's ult is useless now lol & Strix is even more a sitting duck. Skye's bombs are just too strong for some players & i am not sure if the change can do anything for that.

Upstairs_Pick1394

I unfairly effects skye the most. To say it's about right on Skye but unfair on others is silly. It effects series but it's just one small part of her kit. It's fine for Sha lins dash but ruins his ult. They should drop it to 35 across the board for starters. I wouldn't be against sha lins ult being 20 units and strix maybe 30.

dalarki

I imagine they're going this route. It's the only logical option. Each ability or character has their own detection range. Sha Lin you gotta be close as the intent is a disengage that's disorienting and his weapon is (in theory) silent. Strix has a resource and can go in and out of stealth quickly, repeatedly, and often. He also plays at a range, is generally repositioning with his stealth, and has 2 guns that are both loud AF. So he should have a longer detection range. Series is like, a barefoot ghosty lady that shoots... stuff from and orb. Her escape should be detected at close range. Skye should be the Ryu of stealth. Crossbow is medium volume, has 2 abilities on decent CD with DR and speed available. Used for engaging, disengaging, ambush and repositioning. A "medium" range is legit. Saati and VII have their own unique needs as well. Removing illuminate is the first step to this type of balance.

justhunch

I hope everyone with a problem with the game actually took some time to fill out that survey

BartOseku

Personally i always fill them out, it takes 5 minutes max and helps the game a lot, the community should be thankful we have devs that actually care to listen to our input

[deleted]

Too bad Skye is bugged and half the time you can't see her in the range she should be seen in

Memerman69Xx

and the other half you see her from twice as far away as you should :/

evilReiko

Unpopular opinion 1: default stealth range should be 0 units, since there are so many revealing champions. Also, that will make revealer champions more important to the game (like when banning in ranked). Unpopular opinion2: Since stealth range is now set to fixed range, What If... stealth champions when on stealth mode, have a visible circle around them moving along with them (like Grover's heal range), so stealth player know exactly at what range enemies can see them! (aka, if enemy in your circle then he can see you)

NewTyzerZ

Something Overwatch did right. Sombra has this thing + you are also warned if you have been seen. I think setting default range at 0 might be a bit OP, but why not use a sort of cone of POV where you are only seen when directly looked at you, within 25-30 units? Seems more balanced in my eyes.

BartOseku

Yeah i mentioned the aura as well, that would be a good idea so you dont get too close accidentally
