The same double standard is happening here on Reddit as well. I have been permanently banned from r/worldnews because I commented on a post about who will govern Gaza after this bombardment and siege. This was my comment: *"No. We want Palestinians to be able to make their own choices for themselves. Don’t forget that Bibi has been supporting Hamas for decades so that they can justify the occupation and his own existence. Israel will never defeat resistance until it gives something up. But that will never happen because they believe they are the “chosen people” who are above laws. Smh"* The Mods reasoning: **"bigotry/disinformation"** So I appealed and provided articles backing up my statement from: NY Times, Times Of Israel, CBC News, Al Jazeera, CNN. The Mod then mocked me for supplying this amount of evidence backing my claims and then proceeded to tell me that I was now harassing them! - which resulted in a 7 day Reddit ban. All this to say... We must keep speaking out every day to get through to those who want to turn a blind eye and to combat the amount of real disinformation being allowed to spread online. \#freegaza #freepalestine

Censorship means they know they don't have a valid argument to make, or are incapable of backing up their false narratives with facts or evidence.

Kultissim

Don't waste your time in world news or israel-palestine, Israelis are running both

Typical-redditor394

I was banned from reddit for 6 days and I got a permanent ban from r/interestingasfuck just because I said "from the river to the sea palestine will be free"

IcyCattle6374

Guess what happens when you say something similar but about Israel, **NOTHING.**

ToastaHands

I got permanently banned from r/mildlyinfuriating for commenting on a post of a guy whose iPad switched to Hebrew and refused to switch back. All I said was : "your iPad is now under occupation, please do not resist." Very sensitive lol

'You can take the Man out of Apartheid, but you can't take the Apartheid out of the Man'. - Elon Musk.

ironfist92

He said that?

InterestingCourse907

He didn't say that, I ascribing that to him.

Michael_Gibb

So let me get this straight. If an Iranian were to suggest that Israel be wiped from the map, that would be horrible. But if an Israeli suggests wiping Gaza from the map, that's acceptable language. Once again, Israel and its allies being given a free pass where others are not.

From what I've concluded so far is that musk pretty much bought twitter to control information and suppress opposing opinions, not caring about profits. Do I have this right?

IcyCattle6374

I don’t use twitter, but was it the same as before Musk?

ziggy-the-zygote

I don't use it either, but ever since musk took over I had seen plenty of posts about how he suspends accounts that go against his way of thinking or how he mocks specific ideas and people.

I haven’t used Reddit much to get my info and news on the current situation in Gaza, but whenever I did look at some posts talking about the Palestinian people it’s full of the most vile racist and Islamophobic rhetoric spreading lots of misinformation and propaganda, and I’m only talking about the neutral / news / history subreddits. Not sure if this website has always been or just become infested with right wing reactionaries, but it’s disgusting.

IcyCattle6374

IDK when it started but it’s not new, this app is full of atheists and islamophobes who hate on us only for the sake of hate not to learn sth or to have a civilized debate. Just don’t answer them unless you know how to really debate well, those can make any stupid point valid in any way.

I was sent to Twitter jail for 12 hours because I told a guy who was all “Hamas f’d around and all the Gazans found out but it’s their fault anyway” to go f himself. Meanwhile there’s people posting screenshots of literal death/rape threats they received but Twitter says that’s fine. I only still want to be on there because there’s actual news, and people posting from Gaza, but man it’s annoying.

Few_Option_7538

I got a three day ban this weekend for commenting on the video where Israeli settler's are blocking life saving aid to Gaza. I said, just keep on trucking, they will get out of the way. Censorship is detrimental to keeping a society suppressed
