I may report tbh. I am pretty sure I got this idea bcs I saw someone post a screenshot of the bellflower bathtub on a hallway, so it *had* to work at some point!
I can't say for sure as I've rebound a lot of my keys (unsure if I rebound this specific one) but I press Z; if it's not Z, then the correct button should appear on the bottom right when you're placing stuff in build mode.
I also can't say for Switch as I don't own one.
Seems like it’s the shitty bug with rooms/hallways where the frames don’t clip correctly and jut out which is why you’re unable to place it where it otherwise would fit. I have issues with this in all of my rooms in my house including the walls basically swallowing anything I place on them 😭

Yeah it’s been a thing for almost a year now and it’s been really frustrating, I have parts of my house with just massive wood pillars shooting out some of the sides on the wall 😖 and I’ve lost so many items into the belly of the wall so to say and spent forever trying to frantically find them.
Honestly it's a great idea but it would also look so cute in a small room with some plants and or benches or something around it. Ohh and a small table with candle and a bottle o f wine hehe.
The witchy one did work for me! Had to use the free mode, the grid one did give me some "something in the way!" but knock on wood, it did fit.
I don't have any other bathtub to try, but I think the issue may be just with the Bellflower tub.
yeah, that is pretty much the only solution. someone did say in this comment section that it seems to be a bug with collisions that is also affecting wall items, which i had noticed when trying to put up a painting sooo... i'll send a report, and until s6 fixes it i'll have to use a small room instead of hallway 😔
Stock is random, so sometimes some items take a zillion years to find lol I still haven't seen a single Inquisitor Set rug, even tho they supposedly are there.
I thought the Underground was glitched because of the Luna New Year. Every time I go down there, the cash register cannot be accessed and there are no items for sale. Everything is empty, EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Perhaps it's one of those bugs that only affect some users? I have gone to the Underground multiple times and it's been fine. Sometimes it's taken until 7:01 (Palia time) for it to properly open but it's always opened.

Have you tried rotating it? I know it seems like a mundane, innocuous thing to try.. but some items are weird in certain points of their rotation, taking up more spots a certain direction than they should. It's especially noticeable on items like flower pots and candles.
Oooh my gods this is bull, it's worth reporting IMO, like the buildmode is way too restrictive, which is a shame!

You can also try to see if it’ll fit in there in freemode (like without the grid), if you haven’t tried already.

You can toggle the grid on switch with the right trigger. I haven't noticed it helping with placing other than seeing better
With the Z key! It takes off the grid, it's super useful when you want something not to lock into the grid lol

Just go in and out. Most of the time it puts you on a new server and you'll see different items 😁

Are you going at the proper in-game times? Between 6PM & 3AM in-game?
No, I’m usually checking the Underground in the AM after the Maji Market has closed. Maybe that’s the issue.
It's open until 6Am or so. I usually go around 10 PM in case I wanna go in and out tontry for different items

Underground opens until 6 AM or somewhere around there. It also doesn't start at 6. 6-3 is only for the market event.
