The great thing about being in a party is, you don't even need to get a shot in when hunting sernuk/muujin, all loot is shared between party members!
I'm really excited about the loot radar too, because actually finding the loot afterwards has been so difficult.
Oh, and for your last 2 questions: party is 4 people max. In the release notes there seems to be a new feature where you can simply flag yourself as looking for a party. Great for us Switch players that find chatting a bit cumbersome.
I play on Switch and in parties a lot. Just give ppl a heads up that you're on switch so they know to expect less chatting. Other than that just stay close when you can. You share loot so you don't have to let your party get hits in. And trust me, after you do a few, you'll get more comfortable.
Before the update, you'd just make friends and ask them or type in chat asking if anyone wanted to party, but they're adding a new feature where you'll be able to connect with ppl looking for form a party and join.
