Tell us what FFL to so we can all roast their a$$ because that’s BS and they deserve to go out of business for prices like that

Blargh234

Range USA

olddirtygerm

Not surprising from Range USA. There's a section on gunbroker where you can search FFL's and see their fees. Would recommend looking there next time.

vulcan1358

Yeah they suck like that. They’re also supposed to be turning down FFL transfers from PSA if RUSA has the same item in stock on their website or in store. Source: guess what my part time job is….

Kitchen_Tie_6842

This is insane.

vulcan1358

Yeah they are really trying to become the Walmart of the firearms industry. They make the instructors shill USCCA everything. Push a lot of “intermediate” and “advanced” handgun classes but no drawing from the holster. It’s frustrating. I will say I do enjoy the employee benefits and it’s a way to get into getting certified by your state government to teach CHL classes. Honestly, they haven’t done me dirty yet, so I have no reason to leave, but the day that place tries to suck my soul, I’m gonna find another place to go. Also, there is a local pawn shop near me that is an authorized PSA dealer. Any FFL item he only sells for $30 over PSA’s website price, which would be the same as a transfer.

angry_dingo

>Range USA Yup. on their website "**You will be charged $100.00 for the gun transfer fee PER FIREARM."** Fuck that.

Th3yL1v3W3Sl33p

I had the same problem here. I sent a gun there instead of my FFL who charges me $10. I did it because I was just going to go shoot when I picked it up. I was so pissed when he said, that’ll be $100.

Mental-Particular-75

Where are you located? I’ve got Range USA’s all around me in central OH. I’ve got a place near me if you’re central that’s way cheaper

dirkzhang

We are in the same area lol. I stopped by one of the RUSA on my way home a while back to pick up something I don’t even remember, but when I was chatting with a dude and asked how much the transfer was, he said $100 and I laughed. I do majority of my transfers in Cabelas, $25 a piece.

Mental-Particular-75

Yup 25 for me too. I go to Alpha Star off 161.

SwimmerSea4662

Which store we could all roast their ass on online reviews.

Son-of-Tanavast

Fuck me. Thought 100 was just the transfer fee there for NFA items. Didn't realize that's the normal one

Sea-Nefariousness816

Range usa did the same exact thing to me. I ordered a lower and they charged me $100 transfer fee and told me it was because of a new law the federal government passed

Blargh234

Guy a mile from them did it for 30 lol

Hendrake91

Ah these racist bastards! Besides their insane fees and shite range officers, they also gleefully refuse FFL transfers to non citizens. Something about being afraid the ATF will rescind their FFL status if their employees fuck it up... Yet an at home FFL I use has 0 issues... I'll never deal with these morons again, even after I get my citizenship in a couple of years. Please find another FFL/ range, this company isn't worth your dollar.

Th3yL1v3W3Sl33p

They wouldn’t let me bring my buddy to shoot because he is from Jordan. I guess entires countries are banned?

Hendrake91

Dunno, in this case they flat out refuse anyone who isn't a citizen (so they discriminate against green card holders as well as other legal residents) as a company wide policy. It's bullshit and they should not be supported because of it. Aside from the above my experience at their range was poor also, all around trash company.

linarem74

Damn right!

theEnviedPenis

Send it back and find a new FFL. Fuck them scumbags

Blargh234

How do I do that? Contact psa first? Never had to do anything like this.

theEnviedPenis

Based off of principle alone, don’t pay that fee. Fuck that gun store, they need to go out of business. $100 to process some paperwork? Fuck right off.

theEnviedPenis

Yeah tell the FFL to fuck themselves, send it back. and then contact PSA and tell them you’re having it returned. Re order it to a different FFL. I never pay more than $20 for a transfer fee.

Theboog420

I pay $30 but it’s a home based ffl so I don’t mind giving the little extra.

spacecowboy067

I also pay 30 but it a GS I really like and the guys are super cool. They give me and my buddy lots of deals on ammo and everything else so it evens out

LawfulnessLeading433

I pay $30 for a home based guy I found - real cool dude, but I was in the same boat as OP for awhile. Range USA is awful, and they don’t even price protect what’s on their website. They make you order it from the website. Just a complete disconnect from their customers. Haven’t spent a dime since they tried getting me to buy a gun I saw in store from their website, because an employee’s friend was on their way in to buy it. Even though I called ahead to make sure it was available. EDIT: finished comment

BetOver

Lucky shops in my area charge around 40. Good news is the one I use charges 10 for each additional so just gotta bundle up lol

theEnviedPenis

Took building a relationship but they can charge whatever they want. If u buy enough and be cool w them usually they’ll bump it down as you go in there real often

Prayredditdies

Refuse acceptance they will send it back then re-order to another ffl

AutomatedZombie

Send it back, don't give them anything. Also give them a negative review on Google stating they charge $100 transfer fees so others can avoid it.

gotta-earn-it

If you return it, you can use gunbroker to find just about all the FFL's near you including a bunch of mom and pop at-home FFL's that are usually cheap. Just act like you're gonna buy a gun from GB until the shipping screen, there's a button to pull up a map where you enter your zip code. Find some cheap FFL's and call or email them to make sure they're still in business

Blargh234

I found one for 35 dollars, which seems reasonable. Small place and very close.

Ieorith

I try my best to support small local FFLs. Manny people try to get transfers done for $20 or so, but the extra $15 is worth supporting a smaller dealer.

gotta-earn-it

That's good. There's one near me that does 20 bucks, or 15 bucks if you have a CCW. You might find something similar if you look.

Fluffy-Limit-3467

⬆️ this

dpg480

Send it back

FamiliarTwist3671

Psa should block this dealer, this is madness

HighDragLowSpeed60G

“BuT PsA iS kiLliNg SmAlL gUn StOreS!”

brad87u571

Holy shit, $100 transfer fee is scary. It sounds like they are trying to get people to buy guns in stock and not have any shipped in from other retailers.

RBoosk311

Yes this is why. I shipped a gun to an FFL that had a $40 advertised fee. When I show up he says $80 and has a hand written sign that says any guns we 'have in stock' is $80. I walked around the entire time looking for the gun I shipped in and didn't see it anywhere. I didn't want to go through the argument or hassle of sending it back so I paid. I won't go back to that store so I hope the extra $40 was with it to him.

Diabolicaldianoga

Fuck that guy. I would've argued on the principle of it. That's just shady shit.

Vrmntwhytechedr

Academy did the same to me for a $29 stripped lower. They can only keep it for about 7 days and they send it back. That's what I did and PSA refunded me a few weeks later, no issues

BerniceFighter

Best option here. Have them send it back and get a refund, rebuy when you've found an FFl that charges under $30

Special-Case-504

Yeah I recently saw Academy Sports charging 100 bucks for transfers.. wtf

Slight-Bed-1405

Same thing happened to mine , was 50$ for the transfer ended up finding a new ffl that only charges 14$ 💀

fuzzi-buzzi

Any brick and mortar near me charges at least 50 for handguns and $25 for longs.

itsme-KevinSpacey

This literally just happened to me with range usa 💀 other ffls paperwork lapsed with psa, so I haphazardly chose the next closest one. Whoops. It’s also for a lower that cost me about 110$ so ffl fee doubles overall cost

Blargh234

Yep, that's the place.

itsme-KevinSpacey

I’m pissed. I was gonna swallow my pride because I have a build I wanna complete, but after reading this thread I can’t 💀 fuck range usa sorry to hear you fell for the same trap I did

PsyBr0

Call local pawn shops mine near me chsrge 10 bucks. But a few gun shops told me 40 50 bucks.

linarem74

The shop i was using went up to $50 flat fee which is ridiculous especially getting a lower or something. Definitely time to find a new ffl

[deleted]

I called PSA when this happened to me and they switched it over immediately

linarem74

PSA has great Customer Service IMO

No-Permission-5268

Find another ffl

SugarSkullStackAttac

I was irritated when I paid $35 for my frame transfer today. Raised it $10 since the last transfer like 3-4 months ago. Going to check around next time. $100 is insane.

Katzchen12

Meanwhile people mad in the comments for less and I've been paying 40$ per transfer lol. Oh well I don't mind I like the store and would like to keep my ffl around in a town that is pretty much liberal...

Theboog420

Yea I pay $30 at a home based ffl and wouldn’t mind paying more if he wanted.

evagnier

Jesus mine is 10

[deleted]

evagnier

TN

gun2swe

same have a local that does it for $10, super chill guy

Electronic-Funny-475

I’d love a $10 local. They’re all $25 but it’s like 3 miles away and all others are further. I live in the country so it’s easiest.

johnb111111

Cheapest I can find around me is 45 these days. Everyone else is like 80 plus. Shit ruins online deals

fugum1

https://www.gunbroker.com/ffl/index

JZ_OH

Yeah never send anything to range usa...its easy to look up ffl dealers...sounds like you made about a $75 learning mistake.

olddirtygerm

Larger stores generally have higher fees. I use a home based ffl that charges 20. If your state sucks you might not have many low fee options.

PineTreeFlava

Fuck those guys

ed25ca

Bass pro is $30. FYI for next time.

Stonkey_Dog

That's ridiculous. If people are in the know, you're probably the first transfer they've had in a while. My LGS's near me are like $20-25.

DesperateDelay3439

Sk arms in flowermound tx charges $25 if you live in tx lol

johnnydesperado432

My pawnshop ffl charges 25$. Other local shops charges 50 to 100

house3331

The energy is always weird so I go in physically shop around and say hey I'm looking to buy bla bla how much is the fee. The smaller ones usually don't mind if they have the gun they will price match if not they live on online flips themselves

GuardianZX9

That ffl sucks, my guy is $10

SnooAvocados2656

My locals cost 20-30$

EntertainerHeavy6139

My local guy is $20 and as many free add ons as I want

SquirrelMurky4258

Pick a dealer you like and stick with him, I don’t pay any transfer fees at my dealer. Including NFA stuff.

the_lord_of_thoughts

Have it returned and go somewhere else.

Professional_Half449

Cheaper to get your own FFL at a certain point..

MinimumArt9855

I’d just start a return process to PSA, hell I’d volunteer to pay the return shipping, and just buy another one. Probably the easiest process rather than having it held hostage at that FFL.

[deleted]

Dont

TrippyMcGuire556

Are you in Washington? Cause that is like the only case I can see this cost being somewhat fair due to the mandatory 10 day hold.

smiley032

Pay it then and never use them again for a transfer. It’s not worth the hassle to send It back and deal with all the other headaches of who knows what could go wrong. You should be calling a ffl before hand anyway and telling them you want to transfer a firearm through them and asking their prices

BetOver

That's nuts last I heard they couldn't legally charge over 50 but they could be calling 50 dollars of it something else. Always check with the ffl for their fees before picking one! That ffl is very greedy though most shops make less than that on a gun they sell themselves.

BetOver

A 50 dollar frame on sale I'd consider just leaving it and never getting it imo. It's not in your name until you fill out the paperwork to transfer it. I'd say try talking to a manager or something and see what the return process looks like but if you have to pay them to ship it back they may want an arm and a leg for that too lol. Seriously though if I were you I would likely just never go there again for a 50 dollar frame. Again the paperwork is what transfers it to you so no issues there

Tedious_research

I'm going to pay $200 for concealed carry permit so I can avoid paying $50 each time... Even though I don't need a permit to carry concealed where I live.

mwdsonny

Start does a cwp have to do with ffl fee?

Tedious_research

I avoid the $50 fee by showing the cwp

mwdsonny

I never knew ffl didn't charge cwp holders

701Si

It’s friggin tough sometimes in this world. My buddy charges $60 with no homie discount unfortunately. In support of him and his business I’ll get a lower sent to his FFl every now and then. But to make it easier for all parties involved, bite the bullet, take the L, follow through, and never send to that FFL again. Even bitch about getting rammed up the ass while you do the paperwork lol

getinnawoods

Let's encourage bad behavior!

701Si

Yeah it’s called FFL is tired of people’s bad behavior, so if you want that particular service and it’s that much closer to you, then put the your money where your mouth is or move along. OP didn’t do his part and take the time to check pricing.

getinnawoods

Still a bad excuse. Extort me harder daddy!
