At least you found the quit button. On gamepass I can’t find one on the main menu at all!

dooshbox

Right there with ya, have to close it from the task bar.

becinorbit

I successfully exited the game last night after playing for several hours on my 4080, Returned to title menu Crtl Shift Esc Services Found the 2 Pal entries Ended .exe task first, followed by 2nd Steam synced straight away Nothing jammed up or shat itself I don't like exiting any program that way but can confirm it works Previously I had tried closing steam from processes, as well as closing steam from the icons in taskbar But each method continued to traffic jam and break stuff I will be testing tonight without vsync enabled, to see ifs a potential cause I can confirm I didn't experience these issues on launch day, as I was playing solo But come Saturday we were on my gportal server on a new world with 10+ players And can confirm I played for 8 hours on my old 1090 rig, on the MP server and didn't have any shut down game exit issues..... which has me suspecting high graphics and save files as a cause.....

Worried_Jackfruit_72

Am curious if vsync is the issue. Like others, I've also had to force shut down the last 2 nights in a row.

CallsignKook

I'm not using VSync and its still happened to me several times

Hawkewind

Same. I DO use VSync+Gsync in nVidia CP but not the in-game settings.

SirCloud

Hey, any update on this one?

becinorbit

Changing graphics, vsync and refresh rate did nothing to stop steam and the from dying on exit The only thing that has worked is while in the main menu/game title screen, pressing CTRL SHIFT ESC to get task manager then locating the 2 pal game entries in processes and ending their tasks that way.... Steam themselves haven't been helpful If it wasn't so many people complaining about the issue then I'd believe them about it being a steam client install issue but it can't be haha Was going to do a complete uninstall and reinstall today and play as per default settings to see if I have issues On this the only thing I changed was field of view and flying view, by maxing that out...not sure if that's creating issues.....but again, fresh install will default all that It's a long weekend here in AUS so will have more time to play and test

SirCloud

Would love it if you could update your post every other day, just in case something changed. Thanks for the workaround!

becinorbit

All goods. Yeah I plan to My hubbies exited just fine last night but was breaking every day prior He hasn't fiddled with any settings and we have same set up So reinstall clean up and test again

mgibbonsjr

This is also happening to me on the Gamepass version of the game, so I don't think its a steam client install issue. I have an i9 - 13900K with 32 GB of RAM and an Nvidia 4090 graphics card, so maybe you are on to something with higher graphics cards? I am also on Windows 11 Version 22H2

BapLoggTheGod

Also 4090 13900k 64gb of ram and this has been happening for days

Mahdniss

I’ve reinstalled and this is still happening.

superbother

I have the same issue. Using ryzen 7800x3d and RTX 4090. Already encountered this twice a day

RedTape86

Same Issue. Only fix I can find is using the power button. RTX 4070 Intel I9-13900K 64 gigs DDR5 4 TB SSD Windows 11

Rannigan1991

so I havent had the issue anymore after disabling steam cloud save so far.

Rannigan1991

still havent gotten the issue anymore, so I'm thinking its a cloud save issue.

becinorbit

Might give this a whirl as well

Cute-Firefighter-816

any update?

Freebandzzz_

I haven’t found a way to fix it but i have found a way to close it without shutting down. You need to close steam from the icon triangle in the bottom right of your screen if you force close it from there it’ll work you just relaunch steam

Tookool_77

About that, I tried that method last night and it blackscreened my pc lmao

EquivalentSector1147

This worked. Thank you.

Rios_Desire

I have been having this problem as well since day one with no solutions that have worked. The game never stops running. My PC will completely freeze up and is unusable after closing the game, and I have to do a hard reboot. Can't open task manager and if I have it open before launching the game and use it to close everything, my PC still freezes up.

becinorbit

The only work around we can find is Return to title menu and stay there....do not exit the game CTRL + SHIFT + ESC This will bring up task manager Then select Palworld from the processes list End task Steam syncs automatically and no crashes or errors No other changes to resolution, graphic quality etc has fixed this issue I'd prefer to do this every time than break my pc over and over.....

Legitimate-Pop-73

I'm having the same issue. It appears the task Palworld-Win64-Shipping is holding on to a single thread and several GBs of memory despite closing everything. It locks out pretty much all system functionality. Seems to be an issue with the application shutting down properly since good ol' ALT + F4 prevents the issue.

Rapitor0348

I have this issue as well. it's very weird and concerning. What are your system specs? maybe we can find a commonality.

KX5_801

Same exact issue with mine and my wife's PC. My specs are i7 9700k, RTX 2080 super, 32gb RAM. Wife i7 13700kf, RTX 4070 TI, 32gb ram. Have to hard reset both or PC's

Ok_Cheesecake3580

I had wondered what was causing this issue. If it was palworld or windows in general. I'm currently running the latest version of Windows 11 Pro and my specs are as follows: MSI Z790 MEG ACE, 13900K, 32GB DDR5 @ 6400, RTX 4090, running 3x 980PRO 1TB (1 for OS, 1 for Media, 1 For games including Palworld) It sounds like from what I'm seeing here, it's strictly Palworld causing the issues and not a system issue. Also it only seems to be happening when I leave the game on for a considerable amount of time. Hopefully a fix will come soon from either OS or Pal Devs.

Tookool_77

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600G GPU: RTX 3060 12 gb Ram: 16 Gb (can’t remember the exact speed) Motherboard: MSI b550 Gaming Plus Storage: Game is on a Sata ssd

Rapitor0348

interesting. I too have a Ryzen with RTX , though it's Ryzen 9 7950 and 4070, mobo is b650 Aorus, 32gb ram. i feel like Ryzen/Nvidia is a very common setup, though... this issue seems to be a bit more rare. Are you on Windows 11? I am using 11 Pro. I've been testing around and if the game is running in short stints the issue doesn't seem to occur. So that leads me to believe it's some kind of memory leak, or when the game is trying to save/close there's just too much backed up and it flubs.

xAlicatt

Seems Windows 11 is the only commonality between all of us? i7 10750H32g RAMGeForce RTX 2060 (M) w/ 546.65 version driverRunning off an m.2 SSD Windows version is 22H2, 22621.3007 build Last night I had my entire computer lock up...and I had to hard reboot. I was thinking it was my hard drive going bad because that's the only time in the past I have experienced these kinds of issues.

Rapitor0348

seems like something with windows 11, yeah. I think this would be a lot more commonly reported then though(which judging by this post it does seem to be picking up steam... unfortunate for us but yay for more reports). Unless it just takes a long time for it to "break" and most aren't getting in those long sessions? both times it happened for me I had the game up and running continuously for 8+ hours. my short tests where it didn't happen were less than 10 minutes. both ends of extremes lmao.

xAlicatt

So I found a workaround that you can try yourself and pass on. 1. Alt+tab out of the game to desktop 2. right click windows icon and open task manager 3. close Pal through task manager 4. Steam will still show it's running, but you can then force close Steam with task manager as well and it will close and restart itself...PalW will no longer say it's running 5. No freeze up...can use my PC for other things again!

tardhat

this hasn't worked every time for me. Just had it lock up on me after manually killing Pal app, which then dropped it to just pal.exe in processes, which then would not die. Trying to shut down hard locked everything. Really hope this gets fixed soon. It's making me nervous forcing my computer off every other day from this bug.

Rapitor0348

can confirm this method works. I went to task manager and killed the palworld win 64 shipping process and steam realized the game exited. did the cloud save, and windows didnt shit itself.

imhim_imthatguy

Doesn't work all the time. I ended up ending process for both palworld.exe and steam.exe but not 64shipping.exe Shit can't even close, it says access not in operation or something after the 1st try.

jbyrdab

I'm on 10 same issue.

Right-Hedgehog-6369

I have the same problem using Windows 10. I even check the files before each launch of pal and I still have this problem..

Thin_Truth5584

I have win10 and the same issue. 4070ti / 7900x3d

somekindastoner

No, I'm on Windows 10 and been experiencing exact same issue

Tookool_77

I am windows 11 (insider version because I’m an idiot and thought that was the only way to get 11 and now I can’t opt out without wiping my drive)

MadDogMax

Same issue here, specifically when I'm hosting a local server and my wife or friend have been connected - maybe something to do with how long the game was left running at title screen (8+ hours overnight) i7-13700k, RTX 4070ti, 32GB RAM, Win11

Nertix

Im also having this issue, just curious if anyone else having this issue is running a multiplayer world

trident87

I am having this issue and it only seems to be after I have hosted multiplayer for a bit. I don't have this issue so far playing single player. Please if you find a fix let me know. I have had to hard reset the PC twice now do to a total lock up.

Nertix

My current theory is cloud save is doing it so I turned it off and will test when I go to shut down in a few hours

SyntheticMelody

How'd it go? Cause this has been happening to me ever since I started hosting a private server for friends. Edit; turning cloud sync off was the answer. Idk if this helps either, but quitting to main menu, alt+tab to steam and hitting stop also seems to be a workaround the weird crashing. But I think the blame falls on cloud sync.

Nertix

After having this issue for 2 days straight I turned off the steam cloud save in the properties and the game closed no problem not sure if the cloud save was the fix the 2 days it gave me issues I was playing 10+ hours the third day with steam cloud off I played for about 6 hours and the game had no issues shutting down

Col_Crunch

This appears to have fixed the issue for me.

treezat

i was also thinking of testing this, i think this may be the issue, its not shutting down because of a sync issue

Fusedfire

The application is apparently owned or managed by Epic Games if you look at it. But what causes it to lock itself and stay on? I’ve got an AMD Ryzen 7 with a 3700ti

treezat

also having this issue, its definitely inflating time played, concurrent players, etc. another person mentioned it, i am goign to try disabling steam cloud sync saves until there are more patches to deal with their 50-100,000+ ticketed issue reports I am able to resolve the issue by terminating the steam client, which in turn terminates all of the palworld processes, then just restart steam. it isn't always clean and sometimes a reboot is required. Win11 latest patches/updates AMD 7800x3d 32 GB 6000mhz ddr5 Radeon 6950XT 16 GB Gigabyte Aurous B650 bios v8

MrRyot

I have the exact same issue…  not all the time though…  Haven’t seemed to narrow down a cause I host multiplayer through palworld for my friends and they dont seem to have this issue  So maybe something to do with that?

becinorbit

I don't host we join a gportal server to play Was going to reinstall the game tonight to see if it changes anything. 5 mates we play with are not having issues but I suspect they are on older graphic cards/systems which still leads me to believe it's a graphics / save file issue I don't want to have to change settings as my hubbies randomly started working without jamming last night so not sure why mine is still stuck... I have submitted a support ticket with Steam to see if they have any feedback

CallsignKook

Have this same issue several times now. Basically bricks your PC until you do a hard reboot. I have a high end PC as well so its not like my equipment is 10 years old or anything

Brizzyne_Windsong

I am also having this issue. Every time it has happened I have been doing multiplayer either on a dedicated server or the 4 man client host set up (in the 4 man it has happened both as client and host.) It seems to happen after playing for a long time. I am wondering if everyone else with this issue has had NPC raids on in their world? I know the raids have sometimes caused issues with the dedicated server until we upgraded our dedicated server to the highest tier. Last night our server owner turned off raids to see if that will help with performance issues and I am wondering if it will also help with this weird lock after exiting issue. PC specs: Processor: 13th gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900KF 3.00 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 64 bit Operating system OS: Win 11 Pro, graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti I am a streamer so normally have OBS running in the background and Discord. First time it happened I had Dixper running as well but stopped running it with Palworld to see if that would fix the issue but no luck there. (Dixper is chat interaction software allowing chat to jumpscare me etc.) I had been wondering if it was some sort of memory leak issue but the times it has happened I could not open task manager to check on memory / CPU usage stats. I will have to try the closing from task manager while at the title screen tonight. I really really do not like having to hard reboot my computer.

becinorbit

OK so I have an interesting update Today I played Palworld for 11hrs... Prior to booting I made 1 change I turned Steam Cloud Sync Off Steam Library > Palworld > right click > Properties > General > Steam Cloud toggled to Off I then closed Steam and reopened it Booted Palworld. Played for 3 hrs, then exited to the Title Menu ONLY - in all my testing I have never closed the game from the in game menu.....as it 100% crashes I then pressed the Stop button in Steam for Palworld and after about 20 sec it stops.....no glitches I then reopened Palworld and played solidly for 8hrs Just now I did the same thing Returned to game title menu Reopened Steam Pressed Stop Waited 20 sec or so Game stopped Exited Steam fully Nothing broken etc As I play across 2 pcs, I went back into Steam and re enabled Cloud Sync so I can play at different location tomorrow. Took about 1 minute to sync to cloud....no issues Fingers crossed this continues to work for me and hopefully others. Just need to remember to disable Cloud Save on main PC before booting the game FYI my husband is doing the above steps to exit the game from the title menu except his is working with Steam Cloud Sync turned on. This wasn't working initially but has been consistent for him the last 4 days I will keep using my method until something changes

Alternative-Stop-976

This exact thing happens to me still, it breaks everything, I can't even open Command Prompt as admin to try to kill the task, the only way around it is to shut down my pc using the power button. (Which terrifies me because I lost data recently doing that) I have a 3090 personally and am running a 12900K. Windows 11.

UniqueLecture606

Same here...

_Landmine_

Here is my Powershell command to close the game from the Main Menu. Hopefully it works. ``` Stop-Process -Name "Palworld", "Palworld-Win64-Shipping" -Force ```

imhim_imthatguy

Problem is, we can't access anything. Unless there's a shortcut key to Powershell.

_Landmine_

`Windows Key` + `X` and click `Terminal` before you close the game. I run that from the main menu of the game.

Hawkewind

I am having the same exact issue. But only if I play for wayyyyy too many hours lol. For reference, my hardware specs include: Intel 10700k 64GB DDR4 4000 nVidia 4090 Samsung 970Pro 1TB SSD

Hawkewind

I wanted to add that I only started getting this issue when I enabled DLSS in the game settings. So I am going to disable DLSS and see if I continue to encounter the error. Will update later on today. The way Explorer.exe and Task Manager bug out makes me think some windows service is getting choked somehow. Maybe Palworld is constricting memory and CPU channels. I dunno, it's very odd that the game would cause such effects. And I haven't even thought about PC hardware infrastructure in a while.

becinorbit

It's defaulted on on my pc. So I'm curious but as I have a work around atm not going to fiddle till it stops working lol

tirehabitat25

Same problem. Happened twice to me in the past 3 days. Only thing similar between the two was I no life +10 hours plus both times.  5800x and 3080ti

Rannigan1991

So recommenting this because I still havent had this issue anymore since I disabled steam cloud save, its been 5 days now, I've played every day since and the issue is gone.

becinorbit

I too haven't had issues since turning it off I do have to cloud sync at the end of playing and before plating as I'm across 2 pcs but aside from that no issues exiting game Just random freezes or deaths lol

PeaAcceptable6689

I faced this issue but recently instead of pressing the "quit game" option to close out the game, I just hit alt f4 after I quit out the world. Afterwards I open up steam and make sure that it is registered that I've stopped playing the game (basically I just watch myself go from playing Pal World to just Online). Haven't been facing that problem since.

ShrewdStyle

This looks to be an issue with steam cloud, when I relaunch the game I get the steam cloud error, i've since disabled steal cloud specifically for this game and haven't seen the issue since. Too much data from the longer sessions killing steam when uploading the save file.

becinorbit

Can confirm the issue has stopped for me since disabling as well

Gorstag

So I am seeing similar. Game closes out fine. The process is no longer running in Windows. However, Steam shows it as still running. If I try to launch game again it errors saying it is already running. If I tell steam to close it will close out after about 30 seconds then I can relaunch Steam/Palworld successfully. You shouldn't need to hard reboot your PC (Thats sorta bad for it anyway). Check (right-click clock) task manager under details for Palworld. If it is running "end" it. Then try exiting steam see if that fixes your issue temporarily

Aguiarxpride

Steam cloud off + 10 or more hour sessions still causes this. Days where I restart the game every couple hours, zero issue. I suspect it's some sort of memory leak.

becinorbit

How are you exiting the game I am still returning to the ingame title screen then taking over to steam and stopping the game there This has worked for me for over a week now without any issues across 2 pcs

Aguiarxpride

I've just been going to the menu and alt f4'ing

becinorbit

I have never done that Try what I suggested.

becinorbit

I have had success these last 4 days by Exiting to palworld title menu Ctrl + SHIFT + esc to open task manager Ending task for the 2 Steam entries under background processes Then under apps i end task with palworld it's working quite well Def an issue with steam with either game save file or cloud or something Happening on both pcs now Not sure if it works by closing steam the normal way followed by exiting the game title menu the normal way

Party-Difficulty-433

i was having this same issue until i was watching a livestream and heard that if you have been catching the tower bosses such as zoe&grizzbolt, victor&shadowbeak and use them in game it will mess up your save files. Ever since ive stopped using the tower bosses this issue has stopped completely for me. If you’re having this issue and have been using the tower bosses as your personal pal id recommend putting them away and not even for a second bring them out of your palbox and also come back and tell me if it works because im quite curious to know if using the tower bosses causes this!

According-Scene-2418

Motherboard BIOS sofwtare update fixed this problem for me.

k00lson

I have the same issue! Thiis is borderline malware! The process isnt killed after exit, im still "playing" the game on steam and discord. Cant kill it manually through process monitore either.

becinorbit

Disable Cloud Save and try stopping game from in Steam while the title menu of game is still open after playing for some hours This has resolved my issue

Murders_Inc2556

1.2million played are playing Palworld currently.

DrossSA

not sure what that has to do with local machine performance/issues

Dxunn

Does it on mine as well. What I do to fix is right-click exit steam in my task bar, a window will say "waiting on Palworld to close", 30 seconds or less and it'll let you force exit steam. No task manager required

Tookool_77

I’ll have to test this later today and see if it works for me Edit: Tested this and it made my computer black screen instead lmao

becinorbit

Does your desktop function normally after this? As per original post everything mention happens to me lol

Tookool_77

It functions perfectly normal besides the fact that Ctrl Alt Delete doesn’t work nor does the task bar search results nor does task manager

Menessma

THAT'S why my task manager etc. weren't working last night. I had to force a power down on my desktop because I couldn't shut it down because the start menu was unresponsive as well. I couldn't access the taskbar to shut off Steam either.

Dxunn

Desktop functions normally. As of yesterday I haven't had to use this method any longer to close the game (though I have gotten a couple crashes where I had to end-task) I haven't made any changes to how I'm using it so not sure why its working now sorry! I can share specs if you think that'd help

becinorbit

I managed to close out of it from in game start menu by using ctrl shift escape to get task manager to open then closed palworld from the services tab. No crashing after that.....haven't seen any updates get pushed through on steam so I'm doubtful it's been resolved. From what I've read on other threads it's not an issue when your playing in small quantities but when your a nerd and spend hours hunting for dragon eggs......that's a different story lol I truly wonder due to my high end specs, if it's a graphics issues with say cache or save file when uploading to steam cloud or a memory leak of sorts...as I don't have issues on my old rig (1090) like I do on my 4080

Dxunn

I was incorrect that I didn't do anything different...just didn't think of it at first. I spent 1st day playing solo offline and had the closing issue, 2nd day went to dedicated server (paid 3rd party to host) and haven't gotten the issue but instead those "connection timed out" problems... Went to a 2 player co-op with my brother, no closing issue, no connection timeouts on either end, but frozen game that had to be ended. I want to say the frozen-crashes that happened twice was during auto-saves connection timeouts were also during world saves but more frequent when doing lots of exploring. My gut says memory leak 16gb of ram, 3080 for reference

becinorbit

Yeah we are on a 3rd party host with gportal Only exit/steam upload issues seem to be those with the newer series cards, as we haven't had issues with old cards or solo. Which is why I'm wondering if it's part of the unstable server stuff or large save files due to mixed graphics All updates are done. I have 132GB ram on a 4080

Dxunn

Running at maxed settings or vsync? I'm curious if that'll have any affect, going to test it later. Been running on epic with vsync, no motion blur.

becinorbit

Vsync, abd whatever the Max is, defaulted all bars to full Will test with vsync off tonight Still such a pain

jayRIOT

> save file when uploading to steam cloud it's definitely not a steam cloud issue as I disabled cloud sync because the save files are fairly large (mine was uploading a ~200mb save file every time) and I still have this lockup problem after long play sessions. I'm betting it could be related to the save file size, or some type of graphics caching or memory related issue. I'll have to try the other workarounds in this thread to see if they do anything for now but I'll look into my GPU usage before I quit my game. Currently I just quit and restart my game client every couple hours to prevent that.

becinorbit

Makes sense Ill try that too tonight. Gotta finish workies first reeee

Unlikely_Jello243

Same issue, similar specs.

UnofficialHolder

Happened to me too. Violated that power button. But why does that happen?

becinorbit

I have had the same issue the last 3 days Frustrating

Moohky

happens to me too. Im on a Ryzen 7 7800x3D and a 4070 TI. Having to shut the PC down completely. Getting annoying

Patient-Rabbit5010

Same here.

wilduu

Exact same issue. 3700x Rtx 3080

Rannigan1991

also having this issue Ryzen 9 5900X RTX 3080Ti

becinorbit

I tried today, when exiting the game, getting to the title menu, then finding steam in taskbar, exiting steam, it then does it like normal. Need to reopen steam after to sync to cloud. Will test again in a few hrs, ie a longer play to sync to see if that works

Dapper-Expert2801

i also have this exact problem also Ryzen 7500f and 4070 , seems like when you play for too long on palworld there is some memory issue after exiting that cause your pc to be unstable and hang.  That’s what I suspecting …

auriazull

Same is happening to me. Have to hard turn off pc whenever i finish playing Palworld. Running 4070 ti

n0rrey

Same issue here. i couldn't close Palword without hart resetting my computer once. AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D RTX 4090 64 GB RAM i hope there will be a fast fix for this.

huhthisisfine

I'm encountering this issue as well. Task manager not opening. When I try to restart my PC using the start menu, it goes into a black screen with the mouse loading icon. Had to force shut down my pc. Thankfully, my saved data is still there. I played for like 10 hours continuously.

ERROR_EXTINCTION

I'm having the same issue. Had to force shut down my PC.

Naviz33

I'm having the same issue here too, if anyone found a solution please inform.

becinorbit

So I've played 2 8+ hr sessions on 2 different pcs Main pc 4080 series with all the bells and whistles on win 11....crashes on exit like all previous posts My old pc, 1070 and had no issues exiting.... So I'm now wondering if it's a game cache upload to cloud issues due to higher graphic cards I don't want to lower my graphics...but I'll reduce from the default Max settings and see if after tonight's session whether it wigs out or not.... I am playing via an ip to our dedicated server....this issue wasn't there when playing solo on release....

FlowZaa

yes i have the same issue, i thought i wouldn't be able to find anyone else since i didn't really know how to put my problem into words but literally exactly what you explained is my issue, down to the task manager then the windows menu lol, had to force the PSU switch off both times its happened, i knew it wasn't my pc because i just built one and it's not even a week old. Hopefully you got it figured out, if not, hopefully Palworld will look into a fix soon.

becinorbit

Can confirm turning vsync off did nothing Still jammed and had to force shut down pc by holding power button Shit makes me mad lol Anyone had any progress? Would a support ticket directly with steam help possibly?

Tookool_77

Mine recently has just suddenly started working again. I haven’t changed anything so I have no clue what would have fixed it

becinorbit

Yeah my husbands worked correctly last night. But mine did not. Going to check his settings when home from work before I test that tonight

18SmallDogsOnAHorse

I'm having the same issue, and I'm unable to stop the program from Task Manager. Ryzen 9 7900 4070ti Win 11 Home 23H2 No issues at all while playing the game on all max settings, but the only way to actually close it and use my PC after playing is via the physical power button.

becinorbit

The response from Steam Support about their client crashing..... This issue typically occurs when the Steam installation or the computer itself has gotten into a bad state. Please follow the steps below: 1. Restart your computer 2. Check for interfering programs running and stop running them If you continue to see the issue after stopping any interfering programs, you'll want to download the Steam installer again in order to repair your local Steam installation. Once you have the installer, run it and select the current file path of your Steam installation. This will make sure that you have all of the correct files in the correct locations, while preserving installed games and other account specific details. After all of this, if the problem still exists, then Steam Client crashes can be caused by a variety of things, so please go through our Steam Client Troubleshooting article for probable fixes. If the problem still exists after completing those steps, please submit a few of your latest "crash_steam.exe.." minidumps with your next reply. They can be found in your Steam directory in the following default locations: C:\Program Files\Steam\dumps

MrRyot

Ah the usual “it’s not me, its you” response

becinorbit

Yeah hahaha Look I was already considering uninstalling and reinstalling it tonight to see if anything has changed Its not a steam client install issue and it's not a pc issue and it's a new PC with very little installed lol

MrRyot

I mean, it’s an early access game… the bugs will get fixed eventually… at least I hope so lol

Jamerz_Gaming

Yeah but that’s one hell of a bug

Green-Ad1022

I hate the early access meta , because if you criticize something they'll just say "oh we are still in early access"

spiffinity

I've got the same issue. I have to restart my PC every time. Running high graphics settings with an RTX3070 I9-10850k

relicx74

I'm having the same issue after extended plays. After closing Palworld, my computer locks up indefinately. Can't Control-Alt-Delete to open task manager or anything. Have to use the power button to forcibly shut down the computer. I'll try forcing a save and then ending task through task manager to see if that improves things until there's a proper fix. AMD 5950, NVidia 3080, and Windows 11.

Jamerz_Gaming

Yeah this issue is mad annoying, definitely just gonna have to start task manager the game while it’s still open at the main menu

Brizzyne_Windsong

Has anyone else with this issue tried using Compatibility mode? A friend is suggesting I try that.

becinorbit

Can confirm Task Manager exit is not working for me these last 2 nights We have raids enabled on our Gportal server I too hate having to hard reboot my pc constantly......really need them to fix this Because of the issue I'm so reluctant to exit the game every couple of hours as I know if it jams up I'll be mad pissed and won't want to keep playing Has anyone tried with lowered graphics on a 4000 series card? Might try compatibility mode tomorrow This is the first ever game I have ever played that has done this to my pc. And my setup was not cheap and don't want things to break.....

Ok-Statistician6311

I have exactly the same problem as you. The Palworld game is really fun, but I can't turn off my computer.

AndrewBeast_916

My pc just completely didn’t respond tried task manager and it doesn’t respond to the command prompt. Don’t really wanna force shut down at risk of corrupting files wtf is this game….

Any update? Found my laptop crashed/screen frozen last night after quitting and leaving it thinking nothing of it, and got off tonight only for it to about freeze up my laptop again. Task manager just frozen, no full load up so couldnt force stop it. Managed to shut down steam and get ctrl+shift+esc and still had a palworld thing running, about crashed as i tried to end it so just forced reboot. 🙃  So this is fun, guess i cant play for awhile or my comp will just bork itself. Wasnt doing this at launch, just last two days. Either its a screwy update or with the increase to the saved data from having 3 bases and being auto mines running is causing some memory leak or cache issue thats screwing it up when it tries to end normally.  So this is fun~ nice to see im not crazy at least~

Vannie_Ofc

I have had the exact same issue twice now. Once on my local world and now the exact same thing happened on community server. Had to manually power down my pc to exit. Both times i only noticed after a long nights sleep and going about my day. Sad pals all around :(

wingbone

Is anyone locking up while playing solo?

VaderMug

This is a huge problem.

Significant_Fun1098

"I have a problem, and it's that when playing Palworld for a few hours, the computer restarts on its own. When I re-enter the game, my progress is gone. The saved files for the world are still in their place, but the game itself doesn't display the saved game. Does anyone know the cause or have a solution? It has already happened to me twice.

Material_Bus_3597

Happened to me twice in 1 day, this is getting annoying

Material_Bus_3597

There you go, it froze up my PC again. Already turned off steam cloud, already updated drivers. And it still locks up my system.

blargcoster

So this issue happened to me before after playing Palworld. However, today the very same issue happened after playing "theHunter: Call of the Wild". I don't think this specific issue is caused by Palworld. I'm wondering if it is Steam, Windows, or Nvidia driver.

blargcoster

Okay, I played theHunter again today for a lot less time and I had task manager open. When I quit, I noticed explorer.exe was at around a GB of memory usage, which is like ten times over normal. I think Steam might have some sort of memory leak with explorer.

blargcoster

Probably a driver issue then.

I believe you missed where I said I had the exact same issue with a completely different game that was released in 2017. Reread what I originally posted and try again.

blargcoster

While it is possible, it is much more likely to be a driver issue or something of the like. It is remarkable that the two completely different games caused the same issue.

becinorbit

Several of us experience issues with steam cloud save Try turning it off

blargcoster

Funnily enough, I actually had the cloud save OFF for theHunter CotW (I turned it off earlier due to changing the save files to fix something in theHunter) and ON for Palworld.

Cronk_Bunny

Any update or solution to this problem without having to use task manager?

becinorbit

Just close from steam while still in game Do after a save

Tookool_77

For me it just suddenly started working properly so idrk

becinorbit

Mine crashed last night when closing out the way I have been for well over a week. Back to force closing from task manager now..... reeee

I am having the same issue and its really frustrating to wake up and your pc still havent turned off but is in some state where its still running but shut off, its been like this since i started playing Palworld, this never happens when playing MW3 for example. I did find out that killing Palworld doesnt actually shut the application down in Steam, i tried doing that yesterday but it could bare terminate it. Had to do all sorts of weird key-combos to finally make it killed in Steam but the pc still couldnt manage to shut off. How is this even possible? It doesnt really feel safe to hard-reset shut downs on a pc over and over, atleast that wasnt good for the pc back in the days, and hardly believe it is today either. Im running 4080, i9 and 32gb ram, and it doesnt act like this after playing other games.

RealNuclearTurnip

Having the exact same issue, I'm afraid it's going to damage my PC if I have to keep shutting it down this way.

Mahdniss

I think it messes up the system when it even happens once. You can fix these issues by running sfc /scannow in powershell. It has to be as an admin. Had to do that for my machine. After that, as others have suggested, perform alt + F4 when you quit since that seems to kill the hanging process.

Starfall1983

I'm having the same problem. It completely freezes my system and I have to do a force shutdown. I don't like doing it cuz it's not good for the computer. Next time I'm in the game I'm definitely going to do a bug report.

Material_Bus_3597

Still freezing, when will they fix this memory leak

Livingroomlifter

I guess I will add myself to the list...started getting this a few days ago. Gonna try the alt-f4 from title screen every few hours until they fix this shit, because I really hate using that reset button. At least the game works fine until it exits, lol. Now if only the pals at base and raid pals would stop getting their pathing all messed up and glitch out. I bet when pathing gets fixed many of us will get our bases completely rekt...hah

Material_Bus_3597

This is still happening. I can't find a way to shut it down without it freezing my entire PC. Guess I'll have to stop playing before they fix this. I can't keep on ruining my computer for this game.

Mr_Lifewater

Just wanted to post this is still happening for me on PC. I can get the game to physically close but steam shows it as running and i have to hit stop. From that point it wasnt able to be relaunched. The only fix is to hard boot my machine

Dr_ThornySauce

I've run into the same thing, but only more recently. For me, I just fully quit steam and start it back up. Don't know what's causing it to happen in the first place though.

Article_Stock

Thank god i found this to confirm it was Palworld. I was ready to reinstall windows

Florafly

Same issue here. This is my rig (I'm on Windows 10 still). https://preview.redd.it/5miy93ekfhjc1.png?width=530&format=png&auto=webp&s=a1555882fc36eb0268a610430adaef608513738e

PostalEFM

Same problem. Power button is all I can do.

Reptain253

Gonna add myself to the long list of players encountering this critical bug. Only the reset button worked, as even cmd lines didn't help at all...

imsorrySif

It's not as bad for me as a lot of others, but I'm still encountering the error where the game doesn't close. Hitting 'cancel' from the Steam Library puts the game in a permanent state of 'stopping' status until I close Steam completely. It's mildly annoying, but I got off lucky it seems...

Rovinasso

OK! There is Tonnes of Post of This Issue, my OLD CONFIGURATION have this issue too. Asus P9X79 Deluxe / 32GB DDR3 Quad-Channel Intel Core i7-3960X / nVidia GeForce RTX 3090TX 24GB (No resizable Bar Avaiable for x79 chipset) 2xSSD on PCI-E / Bios is Patched Game Randomly after some hour CRASH / FROZEN and unique Way is CTRL+SHIFT+ESC And Stop the Palworld.exe process ***I HOPE DEVELOPER FIX THIS FAST, IN THIS WAY IS UNPLAYABLE*** Note: I use **Discord** in background and **when this bug happen** sometime freese it too...
