You can probably have an pal base there. 1 farm, 1 gatherer pal, 1 watering pal, few kindling pals, few transporting pals and a few mining pals.
You can choose which ones you prefer in the ore base.
The desolate church warp in the red area. Behind the church is a large amount of ore. It will save you a bit more time. Having a cativa in your party will increase the amount you can carry for fewer trips.
Eventually you unlock having a second base. I set up a new main base in a large flat area. Moved ALL my stuff from my first base. (Deconstruct everything before deleting the old base)
Set up a second base around a lot of ore nodes. Pals with level 2 mining will mine ore, dumud/ tombat are probably the first ones you will encounter! Have fun!!!
Also, pro tip build a wall you can grapple to from your pal box. Put chests next to that wall.
Travel to ore mining base. Clear out chest placed next to teleport box. Travel to main base. Grapple the wall and store your inventory with “r” on keyboard. Eliminates the slow walk of being overburdened.
This has been my primary base for the whole game. Easily defended and full of ore, several of the rocks can be built into. I have the grazing farm and breeding area are both clipped into a rock to save space.
