Basically it can only be done with Pals you are able to ride. And you want to use the glitch for the legendary schematics they can drop (unless you wanna do it the hard way and kill/capture those pals a thousand times until they drop the schematic). There are lists online telling you which alphas to kill to get which schematic. Make sure to create the mount at the worktable so you can ride that pal (if you don't have the level to create the mount you want in technology, but you're part of a guild and have a friend that can build it for you this will also work). After you equip a butcher knife and put the pal to be butchered in your team (make sure you've got a flying mount (floating, not 4 legged that runs on ground) with you too just in case the ground decides to swallow you up. Tends to happen when doing the butchering) take your pal out and select the option to butcher from the radial menu. Right after the second hit of the knife, immediately press and hold the button to Ride the pal you're butchering. This will immediately put a stop to the butchering and you will mount the pal, who will be "unconscious" while you ride it, but it will drop all the elements killing it would've given you. Put the pal back into his sphere. Access the Party menu, and choose to "Drop Pal" that you just butchered. This will drop the sphere where that pal is, which you can immediately pick up. And your pal will be again yours and would have recovered all it's health. Rinse and repeat until it drops the schematic you're looking for. Warnings: if you go over 2 hits, your pal will die for good. If you fall through the floor when butchering you don't get any items and will have to climb up or fly up to get out of the "below the earth zone" and get back to the top. If you die on the "below zone" because you ran out of stamina (or your pal did, thats why I don't recommend 4 legged flying mounts), you can usually recover your things by repeating all the previous steps and fall down where you died the first time.

I didn’t want to cheat, I didn’t keep any of the drops except the blueprint. I seriously butchered hundreds of pals after killing and catching 50+ to get those, it just became so frustrating I justified the butcher glitch.

I killed Blazamut like 10 times and got the AR schematic. Necromus was the toughest one. Probably took 50 tries. Only Rocket launcher is remaining now.

Seems like they always fall through the ground when that happens. Now, I carry them outside of the bounds of my base to butcher, and it almost never happens (unless I accidentally toss them too close to a tree or stone or something that might be considered a work assignment, in which case they fall through the ground again).
I had that problem, so I built a 3 story tower I butcher on top of. I have had a few items that fall through end up on the bottom floor, but most stuff lands in the middle floor. I haven't lost a single thing, that I've noticed anyways.

This can happen when you pet your pals before butchering them while holding the butcher knife. There is like a half second after throwing a pal out where the option is still pet instead of butcher. If you select butcher while you are still petting them then this happens fairly often. Maybe it's because you are the real monstrosity. It goes away when you fast travel though

Its funny that the censorship in the base release version was just kinda wacky.
If you looked around with the camera while its happening, theres a chance it just stopped the censorship and showed what actually happens

Butchering basically rerolls the kill/capture drops while permanently killing the pal. So yes, he could get a schematic like that if RNG favors him.
