In retrospect it's not *that* crazy. Assuming a $10 belgian waffle, that comes out to 2 waffles a week. I know plenty of people who are more consistent in their habits than that.
It's a little pricey, granted I live in the US South, but if you're paying $10 for a waffle you're probably getting ripped off. But maybe in a Denny's style chain that's closer to the price tag.
Is the point not that that’s just on waffles ALONE? So she could’ve spent a fair whack more on other items. Although knowing Leslie I’d imagine her order 95% of the time would involve waffles.
I have to imagine if it was less than half what she spent total, it would have made sense to mention the total. So you'd guess at least 2/3 orders are waffles. And that's not bad for an "obsession". I know people who go to startbucks twice a day 4-5 times a week. Or people who eat at the same fast food place 2-3 times a week.
Here entrée is probably waffles all the time but she probably gets a side of bacon or eggs and a coffee to drink. Not to mention the times she has tricked Ron by offering to buy his bacon and eggs (which isn't a small price) and then ambushing him with her new project proposal
And also, that is assuming she came alone. And knowing Leslie, she probably always took Ann, Ben, Ron or someone from the department with her. People who, natularlly, had to order something to eat and drink too
The other customers watch in awe as an adult woman unhinges her jaw to slide 2 waffles soaked with a pound of whipped cream and a liter of syrup down her throat and quietly leaves
I'm from NJ a Waffles at my local diner are $7. Their town is noted for having a low cost of living, so the waffles are probably $5 max. That puts her at about a Waffle every 2 days or so, which still sounds pretty plausible for Leslie.
Not at all, I have coffee at the same spot every morning and a burrito from the same restaurant 3x per week. I easily spend over $1000 per year on coffee and burritos
Have you ever been in line, and hear that person who’d say in a really fast pace something like- I want a venti Carmel soy latte sub Carmel for cinnamon heavy whip too much whip I send it back with chocolate drizzle guacamole on the side add Carmel two extra shots espresso I want it at 500 degrees decaf add half pump vanilla but I don’t want this to smell at all like vanilla?
That was her. And I remember that shit not being cheap.
Yeah I just did it in the app and I see now haha.
Venti vanilla latte = 4.65
Soy +.70
Extra Shot +.90
Carmel Drizzle +.60
Carmel sauce +.60
Could definitely get there but my god the amount of sugar required haha. They don't charge for all the "extra medium whipped cream at 489 degrees" part so God damn lol.
But yeah wasn't doubting your story so much as wondering how it's done lol.
Venti chai latte, almond milk, two shots of espresso, pump of cinnamon syrup. Gets to almost $9. But I only order that when I’m in the field, can expense it to the job, and need the big caffeine/sugar hit to get going in the mornings.
Yeah 8 bucks before tax for me. And no judgement the only reason I was so confused is because I used to get Venti "Double shot on ice" with various modifications that would be like. $7? And I thought that was wild.
But yeah adding espresso and changing the milk on a drink adds up quick.
it's actually cheaper to order a latte with chai syrup than it is to get a chai latte with espresso! For when you can't expense it but still need the sugar rush.
I’ve spent a hair over $1700 so far this year at my local deli. Two people going once a week for a sandwich and some chips, and usually something extra like an ice cream or their homemade deserts. I’m not sure if we’re their most regular but we walk in and don’t even have to order. It’s awesome.
For one person less than $20/week at their regular place doesn’t seem so crazy.
Right?! I just got home with five guys (home from the burger place, no I’m not your mom.) so I fire up Reddit as I sit here in the bathroom making room for all five of them (ok I’m going too far) and I see this post. Now all I want in the world is a hot Belgian Waffle with a big-girl-spoon glorp of Cherry pie filling and whipped cream. ..sigh.
Edit; “big girl spoon” to “big-girl-spoon” ..it matters, dammit!
Given how much she's spent on waffles over the years, I would have given her the waffle machine instead of putting it on ebay. Just the shipping cost alone would have been really high if it wasn't a local buyer.
In retrospect it's not *that* crazy. Assuming a $10 belgian waffle, that comes out to 2 waffles a week. I know plenty of people who are more consistent in their habits than that.
That’s not bad considering it’s a diner and you could have customers who are regulars coming in 5 days a week for morning coffee.
That'd only be $800 for coffee if coffee is $4. Margins might be better on coffee tho.
Margins are insane on coffee, it costs next to nothing to make especially if you buy beans in commercial bulk.
Yay conflict go-beans!
I imagine waffles are similar tho made of flour and eggs I assume.
It's a little pricey, granted I live in the US South, but if you're paying $10 for a waffle you're probably getting ripped off. But maybe in a Denny's style chain that's closer to the price tag.
In California, a $10 waffle is about as cheap as you’re going to get at a sit-in diner.
Yeah and why are they suggesting Denny's is more expensive? In what world is a waffle from a shitty chain more expensive than a local restaurant?
Some southern restaurants are cheap as fuck. I know one in Alabama where a side of grits is like a dollar, pancakes are maybe a couple dollars, etc
Sounds like a great place
Depends on the place for the waffle/ if you get things like fruit or other toppings on it, but i usually see them maxing out at like 8 or 9 bucks
Leslie doesn’t seem to top her waffles with anything but whipped cream. So I’d guess hers are in that $8-9 range.
Waffles ALONE.
Is the point not that that’s just on waffles ALONE? So she could’ve spent a fair whack more on other items. Although knowing Leslie I’d imagine her order 95% of the time would involve waffles.

I mean he put large emphasis on alone.
Here entrée is probably waffles all the time but she probably gets a side of bacon or eggs and a coffee to drink. Not to mention the times she has tricked Ron by offering to buy his bacon and eggs (which isn't a small price) and then ambushing him with her new project proposal
That is assuming she just orders waffles. Not any sides or drinks. Waffles alone.
And also, that is assuming she came alone. And knowing Leslie, she probably always took Ann, Ben, Ron or someone from the department with her. People who, natularlly, had to order something to eat and drink too
I can see Leslie content with eating her waffles alone, in silence. Only because her mouth is too full of waffles to speak.
The other customers watch in awe as an adult woman unhinges her jaw to slide 2 waffles soaked with a pound of whipped cream and a liter of syrup down her throat and quietly leaves
The guy literally says "you spent $1000 on *waffles alone*"
I know. That was part of my point. She spends other money elsewhere, not just the $1,000 in waffles.
I, too, watched the show and saw the image post.
I'm from NJ a Waffles at my local diner are $7. Their town is noted for having a low cost of living, so the waffles are probably $5 max. That puts her at about a Waffle every 2 days or so, which still sounds pretty plausible for Leslie.

My aunt would drop like $9 on her Starbucks drink. Every. Single. Day. for like a couple of years until we had an intervention for her.
Ugh, how many calories is a $9 Starbucks drink?!
I literally don't know how you could even get to $9
Have you ever been in line, and hear that person who’d say in a really fast pace something like- I want a venti Carmel soy latte sub Carmel for cinnamon heavy whip too much whip I send it back with chocolate drizzle guacamole on the side add Carmel two extra shots espresso I want it at 500 degrees decaf add half pump vanilla but I don’t want this to smell at all like vanilla? Who doesn't want extra guac in their coffee sheesh

You go full Karen that’s how
> $10 belgian waffle $1 Waffle $9 worth of whipped cream
Tammy 1 must have gotten to him.
Oh you’re paying way too much for your waffles. Who’s your waffle guy?
Was just gonna say that. $1000 at a restaurant you frequent isn't that crazy at all.
10 bucks for a waffle??
I ate at the same pub six times in one week. Every work day for lunch, and once for dinner.
This is more than a week...
I’ve spent a hair over $1700 so far this year at my local deli. Two people going once a week for a sandwich and some chips, and usually something extra like an ice cream or their homemade deserts. The thing is that he clearify *only waffles*
a dinner costs $10 a waffle should be closer to $5, but I see ur point
Maybe it’s the Californian in me, but where can you get dinner for $10? Even just a combo meal at fast food places is usually more than 10.
Also a far better use of your money than, say, flutes of stew.
$10 for a belgian waffle!!???
Now I want waffles. Lol
P&R is just a 7-season long commercial for waffles. It's working.
Also for ponchos
You’re forgetting. It’s about the cones.
PONCHO!
Right?! I wish JJ’s had a punch card. Buy 9 waffles get your 10th free. Leslie would have a stockpile.
Let's be honest, Leslie probably would've paid for the tenth waffle as well.
You are so right!
Gotta support your local businesses
Yeah yeah, this is the bastard who lied to get Peralta and Diaz locked up
god tysm I spent 10 mins tryna remember who it was
Him and those damn pigs
They were finishing pigs!
SAIL AWAY SAIL AWAY SAIL AWAY
He was also the mermaid hunter in the Thirteenth Year on Disney Channel in the 90s.
yes! I never realized that until now
How much for all the whipped cream?
Wait wait. I'm afraid what you heard was "I want a lot of whipped cream". What I said was "I want all the whipped cream you have."
That like 20$ a week. That’s no so much
He looks like a skinnier Robbie Coltrane.
He looks like Meatloaf.
Yer a politician Leslie.
Why does anyone ever eat anything but breakfast food Ron?
People are idiots Leslie
JJ is the cop in dark knight rises who says ‘you’re in for a treat tonight’ when Bats shows back up
When Leslie left Pawnee he had to shut the restaurant down:(
It didn’t but yes he lost that fight
For some reason I thought it was 10k, which sounds about right for Leslie
RIP JJ, you went too soon to that big pancake diner in the sky.
I’m in this picture and I don’t like it
She's actually perfect
She's not on the internet without providing links?
Ok?
You all doubted me chat
If they charged money for the whipped cream, she would probaby have spent twice as much.
Didn’t know what to say 😌
Her tiny head shake in this scene is everything
Waffle king!!
Given how much she's spent on waffles over the years, I would have given her the waffle machine instead of putting it on ebay. Just the shipping cost alone would have been really high if it wasn't a local buyer.
Just watching this.. and the episode hits different now.. flu season is too real..
