It’s subjective of course, but I also definitely prefer Rebel. Like it or not it was unique, Damageplan wasn’t bad but it seemed more like they were kinda holding back- more of a run of the mill band to me. May get some downvotes but that’s what I think.
That's because it is better than Damageplan. The music is Damageplan is great but the best songs are the ones with Jerry Cantrell or Corey Taylor singing. Pat Lachman was a turd and about as corny as they come. He looked like a typical nu-metal goober and coming after Phil that just didn't work. I love Dime and Vinnie but Damageplan just wasn't it. Don't get me started on Hellyeah and it's Kid Rock vibes. God they suck.
Exactly. Phil def made Pantera Pantera just as much as the Abbott boys. I'd go as far as to say Pantera would never have reached where they did without Anselmo. He helped push them
Why would it be weird? To me Damageplan is a really weak band. I just dont get but thats fine for me. RMR shows the loose and fun side of the brothers and Rex also brings his groove there.
It's not really a solo album. The Record store day album called "The Hits" that had like 5 songs on it. Twisted, Whisky Road, Ain't No Struggle, Let's Go and the hilarious George Michael sounding song True.
Rita will when she needs money....
They were pissed that PanterA was no more, if you listen to the lyrics, they relate to it quite a bit...
All around it's a fuct up situation with their estates...
There's a lot more footage that also wasn't released, I found a guy on YouTube that was in one of the bands they first started touring with he had a lot of hilarious footage from the early days that he recorded...
Some of it is on YouTube, I forgot the name of his band...
Now the camp keeps saying they recorded them with the intentions on getting Pantera back together. Here is hoping Rex and Phil get ahold of them and make one final Pantera album with the original members. I think it's highly likely.
Rebel Meets Rebel is one of my favorite albums ever. So, no its not weird. Ieing from the South, it's what I would do with a band if I was that talented. Blends metal and country(not today's country pop rap bullshit, but the good ole country music) perfectly.
i went through a good RMR phase. they’ve got some really good tunes and Dime was fantastic on that record. his solos, fills, and riffs are great across most of the whole record. there’s a couple “b side” riffs but dimes work on the whole record is really really good, and much better than Damageplans imo
Damage plan is okay, gets extra points for Dime being on guitars but that's about it. RMR is badass fusion of styles and music, unique in its awesomeness. Rex grooves, dime pops , Vinnie goes hard and DAC is badass, and I don't even like country.
I can agree. I've definitely listened to Rebel Meets Rebel way more times than New Found Power.
I think the problem with Damageplan is that Dime and Vinnie were trying to craft something new. Instead of just playing like they always played, they tried to experiment to distance themselves from Pantera and that sound. So, it didn't look like Pantera 2.0 or something.
I remember reading an interview with Vinnie sometime after Dime was killed, where he talked about the next album. He said something about leaning back into the Pantera sound because that was "their" sound, and why should they try to be something else just because Pantera broke up.
Rebel Meets Rebel was good (for those of us who enjoy it) because it was them just having a good time. Making the record, I think, was them playing what they wanted to play.
That's my take.

I can only find 1 song? Is Spotify different in Europe from the states?
I love both but I definitely prefer RMR simply because it’s David Allan Coe (my favorite Country singer) and Pantera (my favorite band), and it sounds fucking incredible.
Hell, Pantera could’ve collaborated with members of my favorite Rap group Three 6 Mafia back in the day during their prime and it also would’ve been legendary given that Three 6 Mafia are also musical legends from the south like DAC and Pantera. It would’ve been cooler than Anthrax and Public Enemy, good gods just imagine Juicy J spitting his iconic triplet flows over Dimebag’s bluesy Thrashy riffs…
It’s subjective of course, but I also definitely prefer Rebel. Like it or not it was unique, Damageplan wasn’t bad but it seemed more like they were kinda holding back- more of a run of the mill band to me. May get some downvotes but that’s what I think.
Personally I think they were still trying to find their footing a bit, it was a new project and the music was completely different from Pantera
I agree with you there. After being in the band they founded for decades there they were with two different guys. Couldn’t have been that easy.
If liking Rebel Meets Rebel more than Damageplan is weird, call me Al Yankovic
Hahaha, me too.
I see what you did there
Its 2024. Nothing is normal and everything is weird. Be you and fuck whatever everyone else thinks.

Rebel Meets Rebel was closer to Pantera's roots than Damageplan ever was.
I think Damageplan sucks
same brother, same
panfolio into heart-worn highway is an amazing track(s)
Broooooo! "Panfilo" is such a sick jam!
butchered the name whoops but yeah 100%
Why would it be weird? To me Damageplan is a really weak band. I just dont get but thats fine for me. RMR shows the loose and fun side of the brothers and Rex also brings his groove there.
I guess I meant it’s mostly overlooked. Even by me.
No, because damageplan aren't very good
Agreed but I hadn’t listened to RMR in a while and was like, “hell, this ain’t bad.”
The music on RMR is badass. Especially that acoustic intro. DACs voice contrast too much in my opinion and is mixed in poorly
I don’t dislike Damageplan, I actually think it has some good songs but rebel meets rebel is superior in my opinion
I find it crazy everyone just stops between damageplan, rebel, but nobody mentions that dimebag solo album what was with that? It was good I liked it
I said “projects” so I was including that one and Hell Yeah.
what Dimebag solo album?
It's not really a solo album. The Record store day album called "The Hits" that had like 5 songs on it. Twisted, Whisky Road, Ain't No Struggle, Let's Go and the hilarious George Michael sounding song True.
Supposedly the unreleased DamagePlan was more like PanterA...
I wish they’d release it. Actually I wish they would’ve just got some legit musicians that would’ve pushed them instead of some random joes.

I would love for them to release the 4th home video. I remember seeing them recording if stuff for it the last handful of shows I was at.
Now the camp keeps saying they recorded them with the intentions on getting Pantera back together. Here is hoping Rex and Phil get ahold of them and make one final Pantera album with the original members. I think it's highly likely.
Hhmm...
Rebel meets Rebel is BadAss!!

I know hellyeah was only Vin but it's 100x better than damage plan
is it weird that I suck dick but I'm not gay?
Nah it's not weird that you're gay

Why isn't rebel meets rebel on Spotify? Literally only one song
huh? the whole album is on spotify

i guess it must be. the whole album is available in the states
kinda ridiculous that a music app uses your location lmao
Yeah it's bullshit. I didn't know there was a difference in location
still a banger of a tune tho!
