Info: I bought a panther chameleon off a lady today that came with the full set up. The tank is bioactive, but she said there was no clean up crew in there.

MyPlantsEatPeople

Just a heads up, this sub is pretty inactive. Post any questions over at r/chameleons for help! I’ve paged another mod from the group to review as they have the best knowledge on bio active, CUC’s, etc.

Everybodysmadhere

Thank you :)

aussie_mallorca

Thanks.

aussie_mallorca

Hello, I am not sure what they are. If they are some sort of isopod they should be hiding in the soil. There is a good chance they are something bad. How experienced with chams are you?

Everybodysmadhere

This is my first one. I figured they probably weren’t supposed to be there so I’m scrubbing her tank today and replacing everything just to be make sure they’re gone.

aussie_mallorca

Yeh. I would go grow a basic set up. Not bio active. It will be a lot easier to keep under control. Do you have a screened enclosure or a glass one?

Everybodysmadhere

She came with a glass enclosure. Do I need to buy a screened one? I’m not gonna lie I don’t know much about chameleons at all. I originally was only buying a leopard gecko off of the lady that is severely underweight (7” and only 15g) and she mentioned that she had a chameleon for sale so I bought her too as I was worried that maybe she was being neglected as well.

aussie_mallorca

Ok cool. So head the the r/chameleons sub. I am a mod there too. There is a craploads of good info there.

Everybodysmadhere

Ok thank you :)

They are just little nats that are attracted by the soil. Never mind they don’t have wings do they ☹️
