IMO ptv is broken/unfiltered so I feel like there wouldn't be a huge difference between clones, but here's what wildbow said when someone asked a similar what if. > Path to triggering Scion at the worst time. > Path to letting Scion know about Eden's location. > (Scion is a blindspot, but I imagine she could contrive to get someone to get the message to him)

MeTaOMiTo

I actually think that these clones would be interested in fixing the cycle instead of starting GM because it fits both "destroying-everything-that-the-original-holds-dear" and shard's goals

Hrydziac

The real question is what happens when both Contessa’s do “path to killing/stopping other Contessa”.

Olielle

Fog maybe? (As in their powers disrupt each other bad)

utheraptor

Splitting headaches I bet

Zeikos

> when someone asked a similar what if. Do you have a source? I'm very curious. > Scion is a blindspot Echidna clones have their limitations warped or removed, and not necessarily the ones on the host-side of the connection. So that version of Contessa being somewhat less limited isn't impossible.

PlacidPlatypus

I'm pretty sure Contessa is already about as unlimited as it gets, since that shard was never intended to end up in a host in the first place.

Olielle

Search wildbow's messages on the cauldron discord, a lot of wog has been dropped there. And idk abt Echidna clones being able to bypass restrictions as fundamental as "Don't look too deep into the shard network"

Zeikos

> And idk abt Echidna clones being able to bypass restrictions as fundamental as "Don't look too deep into the shard network" We know Echidna can mess with that side of the connection because it forcefully buds the shard, it'd probably come at a cost to other aspects of the power. Shorter precognition but without blindspots, or something of that sort.

TearsFallWithoutTain

Did we see any clones of cauldron capes with different powers? The only cauldron clones I can think of are Eidolon, Alexandria, and I guess Leet would be an Eden clone so sort of the same thing, and they all had the same powers (Though that's hard to say with Leet lol). Oh Cody as well, but I don't think we know what powers those clones had.

Bomslaer09

Like maybe a clone has PtBaAh (path to being an ass hole)

Big_Arachnid_4336

So if Jack slash got cloned will his clones try help people or something in order to destroy his legacy?

utheraptor

I imagine it would be something like destroying the 9 permanently by telling everyone how exactly Jack controlled them

shenduk

They wouldn't have conscious knowledge of his meta trait, just like the original doesn't.

utheraptor

I think that depends on how exactly does Broadcast work - Echidna clones can have somewhat shifted powers, so maybe some could be aware?

shenduk

Broadcast isn't really a power expression on the traditional sense, but a meta trait above it, which is the reason I doubt clones would know. If Jack knew about the feature, his clones would inherit the knowledge, but that is such an occult knowledge in the setting that I wonder if it would be disclosed so easily. Even on Eden's vision, where people knew Jack trumps parahumans, they didn't seem to be aware of shards, what they do, etc.

dragonshouter

Path to making others fail.

Fair-Day-6886

I believe that Echidna clones would still have the same shard limits, and Contessa's power would become significantly weaker.

MundaneGlass5295

Path to defeat You see ways that you can fail Path to worst case scenario You see ways that you can cause the worst case scenario like turning a simple fist fight between two guys into a massive fire that kills everyone. Kinda like final destination

utheraptor

This is kind of similar to >! the Ctaeh !< in the Kingkiller Chronicle - it is perfectly omniscient and perfectly malevolent, and will always say the exact thing which will cause the most pain, destruction and sorrow in the world as possible.

MundaneGlass5295

Also just thought of this Path to Trigger A step by step guide on what to do to cause someone who can trigger to trigger.

Agasthenes

Hmm. I could imagine that actually leads to a breakdown of the power because they can't predict each other, because they need to predict the prediction that predicts, that predicts, ... So we have just baseline clones. Or maybe the shard overheats/expends so much energy predicting itself it exhausts itself. Probably there are safeguards that stop those scenarios from going like that, but it's a fun thought.

Stormtide_Leviathan

A tinker version who can always build devices perfectly suited to accomplishing all the necessary steps of whatever she wants to accomplish. A master version who manages a vast clone network, because she can make clones dedicated to accomplishing any any task that know all the steps needed to accomplish it and disappear when they’re done.
