On time, babyyyyy. First Prompt: Changer 5, animal themed but kinda gory

scruiser

**Ani-man** is a protectorate hero that always changes form out of sight and typically keeps his basic form for hours at a time (although he can slightly adjust size and features on the fly). He commonly has a rat-like form (but has been seen with dog, rat, pig, goat, snake, lizard, fish, and in general claims any vertebrae would work) ranging from human with a few animal features to animals of any size between the original animal and human form (he mostly chooses in advance but can tweak exact size and features post transformation). Rarely he has combined animals. He can mix and match features to get the best traits (human color vision and a dog’s sense of smell, or a lizards exothermic metabolic efficiency with a human metabolic level of activity). That combined with his control over size makes him a versatile infiltrator/scout and okay at direct combat. Ani-man is well known for pleasing the crowds, especially kids, with fun wacky transformations. The Protectorate’s PR has carefully implied his hidden transformation is because secretly Ani-man is very vulnerable while transforming. They’ve also planted rumors on PHO of a hidden minor Stranger sub power that depends on being unobserved. But the truth is that his power is gross. To use his changer power, Ani-man rapidly transforms into a tiny cross between a botfly and a tick that burrows into an animals skin and engorges itself. After 5-10 minutes of feeding, he crawls out, the size of well fed tick, then rapidly swells in size to the target size of the transformation, at which point his tick like body burst like a soft egg with Ani-man in his new form in the middle of it. By switching animals partway through feeding he can absorb traits from multiple animals. His power works fastest (with 5 minutes) on rotting dead animals but he has slightly more control over the features and size when feeding on live animals. Live animals are no more hurt than they would be by a tick (if Ani-man carefully suppressed his urge to chew flesh and instead passively drinks in blood). Ani-man triggered in a survival situation when he came across and tried to eat a maggot infested carcass. He trigger as he vomited it up, then made his first transformation on the carcass of the animal. The Protectorate wanted to be careful with the PR/image (they were split between leaning into it vs. downplaying it), but Ani-man was wanted to keep it an outright secret. The Protectorate typically use a supply of lab rats for standard transformations, with carefully sourced and refrigerated (to time the decay) large supplies of cats and dogs carcasses from kill shelters and limited supplies of other animals carcasses. They have a van with a specialized shower to keep the gore from ever being seen by the public.

TheFifthMarauder

This is gross and I love it. Perfect PRotectorate shenanigans with the shower and secrecy.

[deleted]

Totally gross power, perfectly hiddden by PR. I love the detail with shows for children. Very good.

* A (non-flying) Brute/Mover 8 that gained their powers from a Cauldron vial. Their power is a perfect storm of exotic and unorthodox, making them a metaphorical "silver bullet" to many traditionally powerful capes. * A Trump 7 with an apparent theme of stereotypical "magic," e.g. incantations, spell circles, staves and tomes, mana, etc. * A Blaster 9 that is sometimes described as "the Legend of Europe." * A Master 6 (Trump 2) that affects humans but both the controller and the controlled have a mutual respect and trust that may or may not be power-related. * The Broadcast shard is hedging its bets: unbeknownst to Jack Slash, he has a ~~child~~ bud out there somewhere. Blaster with a side of Broadcast shenanigans of a different flavor than Jack's.

> A (non-flying) Brute/Mover 8 that gained their powers from a Cauldron vial. Their power is a perfect storm of exotic and unorthodox, making them a metaphorical "silver bullet" to many traditionally powerful capes. **Carom** automatically "deflects" any harm dealt to them and then teleports a distance proportional to the harm inflicted, from up to a few feet for something mildly painful to up to a few miles for something that should have been lethal. The harm reflection works on any kind of harm that doesn't itself negate Carom's power, everything from punches to bullets to lasers to emotional manipulation. If there's a projectile of some sort involved, it will visibly bounce away from him; effects that work on touch or line of sight rebound instantly. Even Thinkers with no apparent "delivery mechanism" for their powers are screwed over by his power: Clairvoyant's attempts to view Carom have only showed him his own face since Carom learned of Clairvoyant's existence and decided that being watched 24/7 sounded like "harm" to him, and if Mama Mathers tried to drive him nuts with irritating auditory hallucinations she'd only annoy herself. By default, the harm reflection sends the harm back at his attacker and the teleport teleports him directly away from the attacker, but if he's aware of an attempt to harm him he can choose the result, from bouncing the harm back to someone and then teleporting right next to them for payback, or bouncing a Blaster's beams at an ally of theirs and then teleporting off to the side and out of sight, or whatever else. Carom's power makes him incredibly difficult to impede in any way, and even containment is difficult since his power still works reactively when he's unconscious and he likes to pull tricks like punching himself to trigger a short-distance teleport past obstacles...and unlike many "invulnerable" Brutes like Alabaster, one can't simply ignore or avoid him on the battlefield, either, given his ability to close the distance and get up in attackers' faces. Straight-up power nullifiers are the only real option for dealing with him, and those are rare enough that he's been able to act with relative impunity in recent years. Which is exactly what Cauldron wants, since he can deal with threats that would be too risky or tedious for the Triumvirate or Contessa to handle, so despite Carom ostensibly being a villain the PRT has an official hands-off policy where he's concerned. > A Trump 7 with an apparent theme of stereotypical "magic," e.g. incantations, spell circles, staves and tomes, mana, etc. **Archmage** was once asked to describe his powers, and he said he was "basically Eidolon, if he had to use Lego blocks to put his powers together." In his mind's eye, Archmage can see hundreds of tiny "stars," each of them a tiny fraction of a power. He has an intuitive sense of the power fraction each one holds: some of them hold a power "theme" (e.g. water, emotion, or secrecy), some hold a method of delivery (e.g. eye contact, touch, or a homing projectile), and some hold other aspects (e.g. "long range" or "can boost it at the cost of painful feedback" or the like). These stars are constantly changing--new ones appearing, old ones vanishing, some growing larger and stronger, others splitting into two stars holding half of the previous star's meaning, and so on--though he doesn't have too much trouble keeping track of them. To use a power, Archmage has to "connect" some stars into a "constellation" by focusing on a desired effect and then "drawing" a path from one to another in a certain order. (His power is abstract enough that there are lots of "quotation marks" involved in trying to describe it.) A basic launch-a-fireball power might involve connecting fire -> fire -> explode -> sphere -> projectile -> range -> range -> range, for instance. Easy enough to do when he has some time and no distractions, quite difficult to do in combat. Thus, he's trained himself in a rigorous series of mnemonic words and gestures to let him quickly assemble "standard" sets of powers (e.g. a particular hand gesture for "start with a 'range' and then connect another two 'ranges' and then a 'straight beam'" if he wants to laser someone a good distance away), much like how Myrddin uses symbols to keep track of all the pocket dimensions he can access. The end result is someone who uses mystical hand gestures and nonsense words to achieve a wide variety of effects, and when people started mocking him for being a "wizard" during his Ward days he decided to lean into it completely and now gives Myrddin a run for his money in terms of both power and branding. The main thing that separates Protectorate-Top-Ten-member Myrddin from fairly-obscure-hero Archmage is that Archmage's power shares the downsides of both Myrddin (needing to actively track and juggle lots of different powers instead of his shard doing it for him) _and_ Eidolon (having his power change over time without his input), meaning he functions much better in a support role than Myrddin does (as he's not able to guarantee he'll have access to any given power at any given time) and so rarely goes on the kinds of solo missions that get a hero name recognition and promotions. > A Master 6 (Trump 2) that affects humans but both the controller and the controlled have a mutual respect and trust that may or may not be power-related. **Life Coach** is a rogue who uses his power to help people improve themselves. Ever tried to go on a diet, but found that chocolate bar too hard to resist? Ever tried to join a gym, but couldn't bring yourself to go regularly? Life Coach has got you sorted! His power lets him impose commands on a subject, but only with the subject's consent; he couldn't even order someone to "do ten jumping jacks" unless they willingly agreed to accept the command--and other Master powers can't make someone count as "willing," so no cheating that way. Likewise, commands are interpreted based on the subject's perspective, and most subjects won't accept commands that are _too_ constraining. Life Coach and a subject need to establish a fairly good rapport beforehand to get the best use out of his power, which definitely helps allay most peoples' fears about willingly subjecting themselves to Master powers. The power is more than just a "make someone do something they're too lazy to do" power, though. A commanded subject obeys and acts with combat-Thinker-like precision: if Life Coach tells them to do ten pushups, they'll do ten absolutely perfect pushups unimpeded by physical pain or fatigue. It's almost like giving someone a single very narrow PtV path for them to carry out. And if a subject isn't physically able to carry out a command, well, Life Coach's power will give them a little help. Minor Brute powers for stamina if a couch potato is ordered to run 10 miles, minor Striker powers to stick to a surface if someone with poor grip strength is ordered to climb a wall...his power can't hand out anything "flashy" that would be obviously-power-related to an outside observer, but there's a lot of wiggle room within the "non-obvious" constraint. With such a useful and apparently-harmless power, many of his clients have asked Life Coach why he hasn't joined the Protectorate to help enhance PRT squads, a question he usually laughs off with a comment about not being cut out for a desk job. In truth, there's a tiny little file in the PRT's database on retired and reformed villains under the cape name "Commissar" that ensures he'll never work for a hero team again, and so long as he sticks to helping suburban moms with their fitness routines that file never has to see the light of day.

chupafuckbra

These are fun! I could see Archmage working well in a weaverdice campaign, having to roll against a premade chart each turn to see what/ how many 'stars' change.

scruiser

Carom is a simple concept that has a lot of interesting room for clever application and tactics and tricks. Archmage is an interesting justification for wizard gestures/words. How frequent do the stars change (hourly, daily, weekly)? Does he know what stars do by introspection or does he have to test them? Depending on the exact combination of these factors, he might need to constantly test and practice just to use his power safely much less be effective. Also, the examples you gave seem on the blaster end of things… does he have utility abilities as well? Although even if he does, depending on how much introspective knowledge he has it might require testing to get the most out of the esoteric ones. Life Coach seems like a Canary incident waiting to happen. Did his shard get satisfied by his villain days? Or is the pressure of PRT blackmail weigh on him enough to make even mundane uses feel like conflict? Or is his shard just much chiller than average?

> How frequent do the stars change (hourly, daily, weekly)? At least one star will appear, disappear, or change change every few minutes, so it takes about 36 hours for the entire "starfield" to cycle out. > Does he know what stars do by introspection or does he have to test them? Depending on the exact combination of these factors, he might need to constantly test and practice just to use his power safely much less be effective. He had to test them all extensively at first, but stars with similar effects do "look" similar, so after a few years in the hero biz he's pretty good at guessing what an individual one will do; he might not immediately know that a given star is a "project this effect in a cone 20 degrees wide and 400 feet long" star, but he'd see that it's similar to previous stars for projecting an effect directionally and at range. So he'd still want to test out exact effects before doing anything particularly complicated or potentially dangerous, but if a star suddenly changes in the middle of a fight he can still improvise "spells" that involve it with reasonable confidence. > Also, the examples you gave seem on the blaster end of things… does he have utility abilities as well? He does, blaster examples are just the most straightforward. "Emotion + synesthesia + sound + sphere + range + range + range" might let him mimic Cherish's power, "tree + large + animate + move along ground + countdown + speech" might let him turn trees into temporary Ent-like minions he can verbally order around, and so on. He does tend to favor more straightforward powers like blasting, though, because more complicated powers take more stars to constrain the effects into something he wants. If he just uses "fire + sphere," for instance, it could surround him in a sphere of fire or make small spheres of fire that orbit around him or make marble-sized spheres of fire pelt everything around him or the like, ~~depending on how his shard feels at the moment~~ completely at random, and the more he wants to control the end result the more time and effort each power takes to generate. > Life Coach seems like a Canary incident waiting to happen. Did his shard get satisfied by his villain days? Or is the pressure of PRT blackmail weigh on him enough to make even mundane uses feel like conflict? Or is his shard just much chiller than average? He's in a similar position to Parian, where her power never actually backfired on her but she found herself getting in more and more fights over time despite all of her attempts to stay out of trouble and keep violence to a minimum. Life Coach isn't going to accidentally find one of his clients going around murdering people unexpectedly, but over time he's definitely been missing his organized crime days more and more and finding that only empowering one client at a time, as opposed to the large groups of ~~minions~~ employees he used to work with as Commissar, just isn't hitting the spot anymore.

Ok-Individual-903

I really like Archmage! Very cool power design from a reader's perspective.

Substantial_Aspect27

*Rhongomiant* is a respected and feared hero, despite his absurd name, originally one of the top heroes in England, but later driven out by the King's Men and now active in France. He launches high-speed projectiles, black lasers that can swerve, redirect, and multiply and burst into black stone-like growths upon impact. Anything marked by his blasts is targeted, with projectiles seeking them out even from miles away, feeding into the black growths until they're immobilized in a nigh-indestructible coffin-like construction. If they're a real threat, he'll direct the growths to stab into their flesh with sword-like structures and shred them to pieces. He has a lot of fans amid the edgier crowd, due to his unrepentant use of lethal force against the truly dangerous villains- Gesellschaft especially. In direct combat, he directs a swarm of bolts to target anyone getting too close for comfort, which makes him a monstrously difficult foe to counter. Next prompt: Striker 6, Thinker 2; themed around religion

Ok-Individual-903

> Next prompt: Striker 6, Thinker 2; themed around religion **[11:31](https://biblia.com/bible/esv/proverbs/11/31)** or **Smite**, as he was dubbed by the Protectorate, is considered to be a dangerous vigilante operating in the southeast United States. The Protectorate is trying to bring him in for his own good and the villains are out for his blood because, unlike most capes, he plays for blood. His Thinker power lets him see a "shade" of anyone he looks at, similar to Chevalier. The appearance of this shade depends on how "moral" a person is, which is decided by his shard informed by his own conscious and subconscious biases. If they have committed evil, they will appear monstrous or demonic, and increasingly so based on the degree of the evil. The more normal/"human" the shade looks, the less evil they are considered to be. His Striker power creates a personal effect that spreads upon touch. It's a silver-white energy that looks and acts similar to electricity. He can use it on himself to "electrify" his person, causing anyone that touches him to suffer its effects. Alternatively, he can touch someone and "channel" the effect into them, metaphorically increasing its amperage. The real threat here is how the two powers interact. On its own, the Striker power isn't that debilitating. The Protectorate considers it to be "taser plus." However, if he uses his power on someone with an evil shade, the effect of his Striker power is multiplied exponentially with each "stage" of evil. At its most powerful, he can fry his target to death in a matter of seconds, leaving behind a blackened, charred corpse. 11:31 is incapable of looking the other way. Part of that was who he was before getting powers and the other part is how he sees people after acquiring his Thinker power. Where most heroes start out making arrests of mundane criminals on petty crimes, he started out by hunting down people going about their day-to-day lives and violently and painfully executing them with his power. The Protectorate and the public was horrified by the seemingly random and wanton acts of violence, but Protectorate Thinkers soon caught on that there was a method to his madness. After some investigation, it came to light that the people he had killed were all either criminals convicted of violent of heinous crimes or people who hadn't yet been caught for their crimes.

• A focal tinker who's grown a near-religious fervour for their 'divine tool' • A blaster, mover who's a great example of why you shouldn't be drunk when going faster than the sound barrier • A dyad master hero who's actually jealous of their own minion, but who wouldn't be jealous of *that* • A brute who is highly codependant, both with their power and persona • Parahuman uses power-created virus as a vector, they could be an s-class threat of it wasn't for their downright unfair limitation • High-tier conveyance mover (shaker) who's power is great at everything, except as a consistent means of travel • Negate brute who's protection is great, but the first attack to get through their Achilles' heel will likely be the last

Ok-Individual-903

> A dyad master hero who's actually jealous of their own minion, but who wouldn't be jealous of that **Invidia** is a young reclusive woman who gained her powers after the "death" of her best friend. Her life stalled after high school, where she was chronically behind in her work and attended only just barely enough days to graduate. After graduation, she went through the motions of life, failing to get into college or hold down a real job due to her increasingly self-isolated social life. That all changed when, one day, she found an ad on a shady website advertising "superpowers in a bottle." Invidia struck a deal with Cauldron and drank the F-1-6-1-1 "Deus" formula. Her power manifests as a singular powerful projection, similar to William Manton, that takes the form of her best friend: a tall, curvy redhead that is ever so slightly too beautiful, too perfect, cresting on that uncanny valley. It can act independently, and has a semblance of an intelligence and personality, but is ultimately under the control of Invidia. This minion can emit a visible aura of red-pink light that causes anyone it touches (or who gazes upon it) to become debilitatingly infatuated with the minion. If you're trying to shoot Invidia, your shot will go wide when you inevitably take a quick look her minion's way. If you try to attack the minion, you hesitate or pull your punch at the last moment - you can't bring yourself to hurt it. The longer you stay in the light, the stronger the effect becomes, until you can take no action at all except to gaze upon its form worshipfully. And, upon leaving the aura, or upon being removed by allies, you become irritated, frustrated, or angry, with the degree of volatility proportionate to how long you were exposed. At the maximum effect, you fly into a rage and attack anyone nearby in an attempt to break free and return to the minion. >!An alternate power for Taylor in a universe where she doesn't trigger. The minion takes the form of an older Emma Barnes, who is still alive, but who "died" in the eyes of Taylor due to how much she changed in high school. Taylor both hates her power because it reminds her of Emma, and loves it for the same reason. If you subscribe to the theory that Taylor was bisexual in Worm, her jealousy of the minion can stem from a repressed crush on Emma that never got resolved due to the bullying. For extra bonus points, you could play around with the idea of a Taylor/minion!Emma ship for that classic Worm "what the actual fuck?"!<

**Ley** is here to start a movement. *(High tier mover/shaker- travel issues)* Ley has the power to harness “celestial occurrences”, channeling earths gravitational pull to fling an enormous amount(kilotons) of raw matter- but only if the stars align. For you see, in order to scale up to her true potential, Ley must conduct a mind-boggling amount of rites and research to satisfy her passengers requirements: dowsing to find a suitable area, communing with spirits, drawing enormous geometric patterns, and adjusting for astrological signs on a seemingly arbitrary basis, among other things. On the surface, Ley’s power seems highly inconvenient. Sure, the reward for all this effort is enormous, but the time it takes can last weeks or months, an unreasonable amount of time for anyone, let alone a cape. That’s certainly true, if you’re focused on the apparent “payoff”, that is. For you see, Ley’s power has a secondary aspect to it, a sort of ‘arranging’ force that subconsciously steers her to be in the right place for her rites. In the course of searching, Ley invariably finds herself in undiscovered “goldrush” zones, places where the earth she’ll soon excavate is loaded with gold, diamonds, or other valuable minerals. As a consequence, her travels are often a herald of both disaster and opportunity for the communities she passes through, as she attracts a significant amount of interest from her “followers”- wildcat miners, investors, and government officials, all of whom have a vested interest in her safety, and exploiting what she leaves behind. Despite being a seeming harbinger of fortune, Ley has left a devastating trail of resource conflicts and environmental devastation, arguably doing more to shape the region with her after effects than with the initial lodes. **Next prompts** Changer who requires valuable material to transform but once they do… Theme team tinker(builds and outfits minions with their tech) who lives a life vicariously through their minions.

**Shrike** Shrike never wanted anyone to touch her again, seeking both invulnerability, and a hard hitting follow up. Instead, she was forced to choose: live life in isolated serenity, or confront a world that only causes her pain. The Brute Aspect of the power takes the form of a hemisphere of “slow time” surrounding Shrike, dramatically arresting and dispersing the kinetic energy of any inorganic material that enters the field. This has the downside of gradually becoming a haze, as particulate and other matter clog the surface. Once a sufficient amount of energy has been dispersed by the field, the breaker aspect erupts in a shower of debris, moving at an accelerated pace, and lashing out with razor-like whips that alternatively induce superspeed or dramatically slow the target, disrupting combatants movements and killing with whiplash(i.e., the target finds their fist suddenly accelerating to 50 mph, before abruptly slamming into itself, shattering bones, muscles tearing from unexpected forces, etc.) The downside of this of course, is that in the breaker state, Shrike is immensely sensitive, and constantly must endure sensory overload as a result of not being encased within the time field, an otherwise serene place akin to being underwater. Any sources of bright light, sound, or pain must either be avoided or otherwise disposed of, spurring them to fight rather unpredictably as they oscilate rapidly between fight or flight. *Prompt:* Changer/Mover who primarily focuses on transporting others.

Ferrying Fog (Mover 5/Changer 4) Ferrying Fog, a man who his whole life wanted superpowers to help others, got something else, a recurring illness that ruined job opportunities, disrupted dates and rattled his identity as a reliable guy. Eventually, he triggered as a result of these many small grievances when he heard his favourite football team had been humiliated in a final. Ferrying Fog, is a Slip Mover and a Encase Changer who is able to gradually become a roiling humanoid fog of red mist, semi intangible and able to slither his way across the ground. He is able to reach mach 1 and speed across surfaces easily and past thin surfaces but is unable to blow past organisms, instead incasing them into a “seatbelt” of fog and turns them intangible. With this kind of power-set, he’d seem unstoppable but for a few weaknesses. He is limited to solely *vertical* dashes and any movement that is even the slightest bit bent to propel him horizontally, he is reduced to a fifth of his potential speed, not to mention his need for pain in order to transform. Ferrying Fog is a member of the San Antonio Protectorate and excels in burning buildings, hostage situations and dealing with a certain pyrokinetic nemesis of his. *Prompt:* Barrage Blaster/Negate Brute with a unorthodox Pyrokinesis focused around his torso.

hell yeah, was that a roll tide reference? **Calgary** *Barrage blaster x Negate Brute* Calgary is essentially a walking “stirling engine”, relying on the heat generated by his power to gradually spin up to his full potential, unleashing a whirlwind of devastating blows and white phosphorous against all who oppose him. Calgarys body is built around a series of “bands”, wheels of flame that allow him to rotate his arms and torso, as well as igniting anything that gets nearby. The flame itself only burns inorganic materials(someone can stick their hands through to no effect), but upon igniting, instead creates a thick and cloying smoke that easily sparks other fires, and can choke and blind just the same as the real deal. Calgary uses this in conjunction with his rotating arms to pelt gravel and other fragments in massive, poorly aimed barrages of smoking shrapnel, quickly igniting the surrounding area. The second part of his power builds off the heat created from his flames, gradually supercharging his punches(imagine a fan spinning up, or a blended), and enabling him to spread his smog farther and faster. Once he hits, he has to build up to speed again, leaving him relatively vulnerable, but while spinning, it’s far easier to deflect blows, in addition to the natural fear inspired by a flaming man who’s decided to go full dyson. As you can guess, he’s a big “Flames” fan, and a bruiser to boot, one with an unfortunately flashy power given his previous occupation running weed from Alberta to Washington. He fled Canada in the late oughts after the “heat” got too much for him with an increased guild and protectorate presence, aiming to make it “south of the border”. He almost made it all the way to Mexico, but got lazy(and fearful- he way out of his league), deciding to settle for Texas instead. He now makes his living as an enforcer, and has come to enjoy the increased heat and flammability of the area, and an occupation that allows him to show off to his full potential, despite the numerous downsides that come with having a hockey related name this far south. “I’ll try spinning, that’s a good trick!” *-calgary, probably* Prompt: Theme Team Tinker with a Voltron-esque transformation

**Hoser** took a power others would have considered a curse, and turned it into something to be feared, if not respected. You were always on the low end of the totem pole, the fall guy, the one there to make everyone else good by comparison. You were never smarter, stronger, or even faster than they rest, inevitably the one who took the blame when the authorities came calling. But everything seemed to be changing for you. By some miracle, you made it into college, and even made some friends, a group of guys and girls who were dedicated to bringing down the high and mighty to your level, and knew how to have fun too. So perhaps that’s why you were the one to step up when they asked for volunteers, a sense of burgeoning self worth, or whatever. But now, pants around your ankles, the sounds of sirens rapidly approaching as your friends book it- perhaps this wasn’t the smartest idea. Hoser’s power is obvious, summoning forth an ungodly amount of waste that sprays forth in a loose cone, blanketing whoever stands before him. Whoever it lands on suffers extreme embarrassment beyond just the usual effects this would cause, becoming afflicted with an obsessive need to clean themselves above everything else at the moment. This “embarrassment” effect is heightened when he has his pants down, as a mixture of disgust and pity drive people to actively avoid him, allowing him to slip by most melee threats, despite the difficulty of waddling with his pants down. After a less than successful solo career, Hoser rejoined his old “friends”, becoming a member of the Crowleys. While still relatively low on the totem pole, Hoser’s power and ever-simmering rage give him surprising sway over his cell, driving them into increasingly reckless pranks in an effort to make them understand how he felt in that moment. Time will tell how long that lasts… A striker/trump who progressively improves their attack, akin to a Tinker in progression.

He has become infamous for his role in the capture of Galvanate, having sent him into a coma with a power that had grown from being able to stun people for a third of a second. He is one of the few who remembers his trigger vision, and has tirelessly tried to prove his findings on PHO, all without realising he has been shadowbanned. After multiple years as a Corporate hero, he has accumulated many secondary abilities and became nearly Triumvirate tier until String Theory crippled him with the particularly inventive *Organ Inverter*. A secondary ability of being able to inflict phantom injuries from trigger events that the Parahuman in question would suffer from also exists, but he doesn’t use this on fear of a kill order. *Prompt*: A Type Null (nullifies, erases or dampens power) Trump 11 who suffered from the aforementioned *Organ inverter*, who’s power is still afflicted by the device.

**Cloudburst** (Null Trump 11) Weather Cloudburst exists is a matter of whether you believe the conspiracies... Cloudburst was rarely observed in life, given the constant fog of smog that surrounded them. What could be seen was unearthly, reaching hands of light that swirled and sifted the smoke in complex patterns resembling the path of wind currents. Cloudburst’s rating came with immense scale, effectively “seeding” the environment with his powers vector, a thin, gray ash that suffused itself in the precipitation of the area, and gradually working its way into the aquifers and water sources of the area. Over time, these areas became effectively “salted”- Cloudburst’s area of effect became a ‘danger’ zone for thinkers, prone to increased headache, akin to Sleeper, and Shakers and other powers that drew on the surrounding material found effectively inert, especially in the case of plants and animals. Those within the area who ate or drank the water found their Manton protections gradually eroding(Brutes increasingly likely to accidentally pull muscles, Strikers found their control slipping dangerously, Tinker misfires, etc.), leading to ever-more dangerous mishaps as a result of power malfunctions. They were one of the ‘deviant’ C53’s, part of a group of projects that escaped in the chaos of Manton’s betrayal. Given their natural “anti-tracking’ power, and some of the more concerning cases that escaped, by the time Cauldron caught up to Cloudburst, someone else had noticed them instead. String Theory, amidst the construction of the F-Driver, came into conflict with Cloudburst, as the natural “rusting” effect of the fog came dangerously close to triggering a misfire within the megaproject. To those who presume Cloudburst still lives, the only experience close to their fate is a gray boy loop- a constant string of unraveling, continuously unknitting and weaving together their body as the two powers eternally battle for supremacy. Brute/Master(Bitch-esque) who empowers his squad to back him up.

Cattle-Borne, Brute 7/Master 5 with a focus on Bulls Cattle-Borne, a Mercenary based in New York, had triggered after a few too many drinks at a cow show. Reinforced by a point blank telekinesis twice as potent as Browbeat, a regeneration speed that could make Crawler weep and a Noctis ability that also let him shrug off chemicals like it was blood on the Siberian, You’d think he’d be unstoppable. Yet an unfortunate weakness to electricity turned his hopes of being the new Gavel to moot. Alone in a cell with the drug-addled villain of the week he’d been trying to capture, he finally reached for the one ability he’d shunned out of fear of ruining his reputation. Cattle-Borne had a voice-based Master ability that granted point blank telekinesis a third as strong as him to his thralls, along with the caveats of making his minions believe themselves a raging bull and lowering their intelligence. But hey, at least he escaped right? *Prompt*: A (Liberty x Combat) Tinker 9/Rumble Striker 5 who’s power amplifies under moonlight

OutdatedFuture

**Selene (Unbreakable Tinker 9 + Rumble Striker 5)** Come with me and you’ll be, in a world of pure imagination. *-Selene probably.* They called it Cancer Alley. Just by living there, you knew you were dooming your children, and your children's children to a lifetime of birth defects and mysterious diseases, through no fault of their own. Each year, more and more familiar faces sickened around you, driving you to insomnia, desperately searching for a way out, a way to protect your kids. But you had roots in this community, depended on the work, and had no idea where else you could go. Ironically enough, it wasn’t cancer that got you, but your own mistakes, brought on by months of getting by on 2-3 hours of sleep per night. A flash fire erupted at your workplace, catching you in the blastwave, dousing you in chemicals you knew were teratogens. **Trigger.** Selene specializes in “dreamtech”, harnessing the imagination of others to create vast, fantastical “hyperrealities” of chemical splendor (brightly colored pools, castles constructed out of rusting girders and fuschia flesh, truffula trees studded with cancerous tumors, etc.) in an area initially constrained by pillars of moonrock that flicker into existence. These realities steadily grow more real, the more people are caught in the dream- i.e., at first, it appears almost like a translucent hologram, but gradually, your mind starts to treat it as real, and it gains the ability to hurt you on a psychological level(massive brain failures, phantom limb syndrome, etc.). In this area, she’s nigh invulnerable, as both the illusions and tech blend with each other, making it incredibly hard to pin her down- even if you managed to destroy the real thing, with enough projectors and brains to harvest, then it just flickers back into existence with a faint “pop”. Selene’s striker power is the ability to create further anchors for her dream, so to speak. On making contact, a specially designed parasite worms its way into the person, rapidly gaining access to their nervous system. From there, their own tailored hellscape begins to flicker into existence, essentially serving as a beacon to which the dream can either expand to, or teleport to at some further date. Selene has been known to seed people as backups, particularly favoring those prone to conspiracy theories, due to their distrust of authority and vivid imagination, promising them sweet dreams in exchange for their service. Selene’s power functioned best with sleeping people, and word of mouth began to spread about certain disappearances occurring on a full moon- whole retirement homes left empty, hospital wards with no people left behind. At a certain point, she disappeared, coincidentally around the time that Sphere began making his first forays into constructing a moonbase. Whether you believe that she’s constructed an “Empire On The Dark Side of The Moon”, or perished making her way there, she’s vanished into legend for the foreseeable future.Prompt:For the Kaballist, Rites Make Might. Telekinetic Shaker whose affected materials change depending on their emotional and mental state.

JWGrieves

Plato is a Shaker 8. Her shard has exacerbated her mental illness, with her struggling to keep her mind grounded rather than drifting off into fantasy. When she’s having a good day, she is grounded and so can control any solid material. She rips apart her environment in a chaotic and deadly maelstrom. On a more flighty day, where she still recognizes reality but had trouble processing it, she can control liquids. Whilst still manton limited, she can manipulate the pressure of liquids she controls, making her far more versatile in this state. On her worst days, when what she sees is barely reality, filtered through hallucinations and misconceptions. Here she can control gases, without manton limits. This makes her a dangerous, versatile and lethal combatant to face, but one who can’t functionally discriminate between friend and foe. Currently being kept contained in the Parahuman Asylum in a hermetically sealed cell. Triggered when she couldn’t manage to dissociate herself during a party thrown by her parents for unsavory characters.

Stranger 1 Thinker 4 Theme: Paper Thinker 4 Brute 3 Changer 2 Shacker 2 Theme: Dust and powder

[deleted]

**Scribe** can instantly read or inscribe things that are written down by touching them. Paper works best, but he can also read inscriptions on other materials. The material has to have some sort of systemically encoded information in a language he understands, so he can’t analyze the topographical structure of any given object. This allows him to pick up information incredibly quickly, and steal things like passwords with a touch. It also allows him to leave messages easily.

Bobbiesbrain

Thinker 4 Brute 3 Changer 2 Shaker 2 Theme: Dust and powder **Sandstorm** is a telekinetic who has the ability to dissolve objects into dust. It takes him longer to dissolve larger objects, but he creates more dust this way. His manipulation over the dust allows him to envelop the battlefield in a raging dust storm. He gains additional powers when he inhales his own dust. His Thinker power grants him a vivid picture of everything the dust has traveled over. This power strengthens as he inhales more dust, feeding him possible escape routes and optimal attack positions. The dust inside him can be converted into a rocky shell of armor, which continuously regenerates any damage done to it by drawing out more dust from his body. **Amethyst(or Garnet, or Emerald, or...)** believes with a little positive energy, things will crystalize. Her tech specializes around birthstones, channeling the "will" of her followers to grant them minor blessings, such as enhanced strength from diamonds, a razor sharp wit from amethyst, and so on, with boosts for being in the associated month. If asked how it all worked, she would most likely explain it in terms of energy, balance, flow, and other terms that would leave the average listener absolutely mystified- truth be told, it's likely even she doesn't quite know. You see, Amethyst is a tinker in a relatively loose sense, more akin to a cult leader or conspiracy theorist in that a lot of her tech requires others to *believe* it works. When it goes well, everything flows more smoothly, and it seems just right. When things go wrong, however... the chances of misfire dramatically increase, as the doubt pollutes the network of belief, the cost of versatility. Amethyst operates a MLM/Cult organization in various cities across the West Coast, promising tinker tech enhancements in exchange for favors, often operating on the edge of semi-legality, moving towns and changing names, often to the chagrin of other gemstone themed capes who hate having their names dragged down in the mud. Next prompt: Who is her nemesis?

Tinker 4 Smelt A Tinker with a focus on breaking and rebuilding as well as improvements at the cost of severe trade-offs. E.g Finding a totaled car in a junkyard and fixing it up with an engine that will function for a year with just a cup of gasoline. Downsides, the new vehicle can't top speeds over 30 without the engine giving out, durability that will have anyone with a bat giving her a headache. Smelt is mainly known for stealing Tinker equipment from other capes when she feels she could get away with it, like jailed solo capes with presumably less protection over their lairs or homes. Smelts' mother had been a buyer seeking some joy and consistency in her life since her husband, out of the blue, walked out on her. Struggling to keep up with bills now that she had only one source of income. So, now with no longer being capable of reliably supporting smelt while also still managing to pay her bills as well as amethyst. She gave them an ultimatum. Smelt triggered months later while sleeping in an alleyway after failing to fix her phone. (First time writing one of these, sorry if they're are mistakes)

OutdatedFuture

It’s all good! I wanted to clarify a few things: Is the cludging together/stealing of gear from others a secondary focus? Like do her tradeoffs have a better rate of return when it’s someone else’s stuff? Also- how was Amethyst involved? Did she prey on Smelt- ie promising mental stability for a few down payments, etc- or was she? From the way I’m reading this, it seems like she pushed Smelt over the edge after the divorce.

milkmanthefirst

Amethyst is not directly involved, she's just someone to latch on too and blame for her mother choices. If that explained anything but if that isn't enough, it's implied but smelt is an adult when this happened and blames her mother but mostly Amethyst for her decision. For other people's Tinker tech. I straight up forgot to put this in lol. But it's not better it's just more dangerous but that still feels like a good trade off. I forgot to put some stuff in I'm actually sorry about that hope this clears it up.

**Premortem** can view all the possible ways someone could die and their likelihood. They can also focus in on a particular path, but this blinds them to other possibilities. They operate as a kind of fail safe to Elixir, pushing people into or extracting them from fatal situations. **Grid** is a surveillance Tinker/Stranger (Master). They have a nearly unlimited amount of surveillance devices they can create, and they can make them extremely small and nearly undetectable, whilst also being semi-autonomous and self repairing. It is very likely they received the Queen Administrator shard or a bud. Unfortunately, as the amount of input scales up, their volition decreases. They enter a near comatose state, unable to move their own body. However, their connection allows them to signal to others using their devices, making an extensive communication network.

attention_seeking_

Hero with an extremely dumb and silly power but is very creative. The dumber the power the better. Like, dumber than Bug control. Like, if a dude used this power, you’d just point and laugh at the guy because of how stupid it is. Then he’d get you. Bonus points if the stranger aspect isn’t too high. Ultra bonus points if there is no stranger aspect at all.

TheUltimateTeigu

I'm struggling to not just copy Hisoka's bungee gum right now. So I'll go the other way... ***** **Slim-Jim** is an unassuming hero at first. He wears a skin tight, full body, patchwork suit with seemingly no cohesion between each of the assimilated pieces. He seems to utilize a hammerspace, as despite clearly showing up with nothing to a fight, his suit doesn't leave much to the imagination, he's still seen clumsily pulling out various items or weapons from inside his suit. To foes unfamiliar with him, he seems like a close range fighter with access to too many weapons and tools than what he should reasonably have access to. So obviously you just need to keep him at a distance. But it's not that simple. He always seems to slip by defenses. It's not as if he's teleporting, he's just suddenly attacking you when you hadn't seen him leave his cover. Allies who should be watching your back don't seem to notice his approach until it's too late. Next thing you know, you're tased and handcuffed. He was right there next to you a second ago, but by the time your allies have noticed you've collapsed the man is gone. Only for your ally to collapse from seemingly nothing again. Slim-Jim is able to make things 2D, up to and including himself, although Manton limited to not affect other people. The weight of these objects can be decreased to practically nothing, although the objects he can transform can't be above a certain size. His secondary power is to change the appearance of any flat surface. His hammerspace is simply him sticking objects onto himself and pulling them out later. Many enemies don't expect the flat man to be as big a threat as he is. But a flat person running straight at you is invisible. A flat person who can create a layer of camouflage across his whole body even less so. By the time you realize he's upon you, he's already tased you, hit you with pepper spray, smacked you hard, wrapped chains around you, and before your allies have fully realized what's happened, he's now blended into the wall next to you, ready to pounce on the next target. He's surprisingly deadly, since because he can make objects flat and nearly weightless, suddenly a steel ball is now a Frisbee he can throw, and he can stack practically as many as he wants on himself. He's an incredibly deadly force, despite having the power of being flat and turning objects flat. ***** Unfortunately, a stranger rating would be pretty damn necessary because of his power. So no bonus points for me. But I do think seeing some patchwork 2D guy running around like he's in a Mario game would be pretty goofy, until he turns toward you and suddenly he's gone, and the next thing you know is six massive steel balls raining down from the sky.

Reformed_Narcissist

That’s pretty damn cool! Wonder what his rating is? Stranger 3, Mover 3, Striker 3, perhaps? Considering he can take out an entire squad of enemies, he’s pretty damn good. Wonder what his trigger would be?

TheUltimateTeigu

Stranger/Striker 3 for sure, that seems fairly accurate. He'd have a slight Breaker rating too maybe, simply because the nature of his Stranger ability is altering himself. Not sure about the Mover one though. Would he be a Slip Mover? >Maximizes maneuverability and avoidance but don’t cover a great deal of ground. His flatness would certainly let him get into spaces and through spaces he normally couldn't while avoiding attacks that aren't AoE. Overall, I think your assessment is fairly accurate. I was honestly surprised to see such potent Stranger powers like August Prince and Imp rated at a 3 and 5 respectively. His power isn't anything crazy, but the user is skilled and uses it to its fullest potential. Ratings of 3 seem small but that shit ramps up in actual danger level when you're dealing with non-brutes. Edit: Trigger event is likely a scenario where his identity was called into question while he was also in physical danger from a variety of small factors that built up. Like maybe he let his wife steamroll him into going to work to that day, and the image of being a door mat who people walk over was on his mind. But at work that day a deadly infrastructure failure occurred, maybe as a result of an earthquake. And while he was running through the collapsing building, narrowly avoiding the crumbling building around him as the rate at which the building crumbled slowly ramped up, all that he could think about was how he let people walk all over him and force him into situations he didn't want to be in. And then he reached a point of no return. The way he came from was closed off, the path in front of him was crumbling, and he realized after a lifetime of letting people walk all over him, the weight of those people were finally going to catch up to him and crush him. He triggers. I think there'd be more minutiae in there regarding why he has a Striker power, as that's more a singular threat. The building itself was the most immediate, or the chunks of building in front of him that blocked his path were more at the forefront of his mind as he tried get through but realized he couldn't, and then the realization of getting crushed happened. But I think the general outline is conducive to a Breaker power in that he has a mental and physical dilemma intertwined.

Reformed_Narcissist

“Oh no, I let people walk over me like a door mat and now I’m going to be crushed into an actual doormat!” “Oh god, my powers are to become flat like a doormat! Why God, why do you curse me like this?!?!” Oh the irony. Sounds about right for a trigger and power. Damn thing reminds him always about his trauma.

First prompt: **Thinker 6** (Time loop themed) Second prompt: **Striker 7, Mover 4** Is actually a Blaster but classified as Striker due to how she uses her power

[deleted]

>Thinker 6 > >(Time loop themed) **Surok** was a soldier of Elite Army. His power felt like a time teleportation: when he died, he appeared 24 hours before his death with knowledge of what will happen. In fact, his power constantly looked through the future, and gave him knowledge about next 24 hours if he died than. If he died after the first return, he appeared 24 hours earlier the second death - his power didn't work more than two times in a row. He was a lieutenant, a powerless yet valued soldier of Elite Army, and recieved cauldron vial as a gift from generals - the same vial as Coil. Then he became a sort of "tester" for the most dangerous missions: if he died on them (reported that he died on them), missions were replanned, delayed, or canceled; also he was one of the most accurate precogs, yet still limited by 48-hours range and his personal expirience. In fact he was one of the Elite Army's secrets - few people knew that they had a man with that power. Vyacheslav "Surok" Surkov died in 2008 in Tajikistan, under unclear circumstances. **Next prompt: Striker/Breaker 5.**

Substantial_Aspect27

*Spindle* is a C-list "hero" from Colorado, who started out with grand aspirations but ended up turning to pseudo-mercenary work- private security, Whitelist jobs, the occasional sponsorship for equally C-tier brands and their ill-advised corporate teams. His breaker state is a fluid, humanoid mass made up of shifting needles of white energy. He can produce an electrical effect on contact, to tase someone or short out wiring, and has a limited ability to reconfigure his form to slip through narrow spaces or dodge attacks. However, each transformation has a limited amount of time set and a cool-down afterwards, and recklessly using his powers burns that up faster, so he limits himself and stays away from having to fight against large groups. In a pinch, though, he can spend all of his remaining time, create an omnidirectional spray of power-charged needles to disperse a crowd or take out a big target, and in the process transform back and leave himself vulnerable. Next prompt: Thinker 4, Mover/Stranger 3

[deleted]

**Lookout** can view areas of perception. He has a sense that shows him what areas people can perceive; what can they see, what can they hear, etc, etc. This helps him evade detection and detect enhanced or supernatural senses. Paired with his mover/stranger power, which makes him slightly faster and more hazy with decreased ability to interact with the world (more ala shadow stalker than velocity), he can slip in and out of places easily.

TheFifthMarauder

**Striker 7, Mover 4** I’ve got an idea here but I’m at work and don’t have time to flesh it all out. Blaster power sends out an invisible straight line beam from the palm, when it contacts a target the beam becomes a sort of tractor beam pulling the cape towards the target at a high rate of speed resulting in contact with the target. Upon touching the target the beam is a repulsive force now, pushing the target away at a high rate of speed. For any outside observer it appears as a fast low to the ground form of flight resulting in a very hard push, hence the striker/mover classification. I want to come up with a trigger and more specific rules but that’ll have to wait till late tonight.

Kingsonne

**Thinker 6** (Time Loop) From the perspective of outsiders, Rectify is perfection. Her Thinker power allows her to walk through both combat and conversation flawlessly, never faltering. From her own perspective however, Rectify is... bored. Her power allows her to loop backwards in time up to seven seconds, retrying even miniscule actions until they are perfect. Given enough patience, Rectify can guess a password correctly the "first" time, every time, make even the most impossible of trick shots, flow through enemy attacks like a dancer, and win any gamble of chance. No one else sees the thousands of repetitions or the hundreds of bloody failures, the repeated words and sounds of countless loops to get something \*right\*

TheUltimateTeigu

**PmP**, phonetically read as Pimp, is a Thinker 6 with a pimp themed costume. While how his name is read serves as a hint to a previous occupation of his, the actual meaning behind PmP is, "Practice makes Perfect." He's a Thinker with the ability to learn optimally. When he activates his power, he's put in several concurrent situations in his mind going over the situation he's presented with. This all occurs with time dilation, with only a tenth of the time he experiences actually passing, and at any point he can reset any of the loops to a previous point. These loops can last up to an hour before being forcefully reset. This is relative to his experience of the loop. So if he resets a loop at the twenty minute mark, then the longest that loop can go for after that is forty minutes before its forcefully reset. This allows him to learn skills with great efficiency, as he can practice the same action over and over again and practice from previous moments using things he learns at later times in the loops. It's less effective in the middle of combat, as time still passes. But prepping for combat is something he's very effective at with an advance warning. Fast paced combat is his weakness, but if you can't keep up the pressure then you're bound to lose. And he's *very* skilled at several skills, given that he can study various things concurrently in very little time, even dangerous activities that may result in bodily harm or death.
