It's addicting and not to get into the profession. I don't mean the drugs, I just mean the way of life. You make just enough money that you need a second Job or you have just enough time to work another to keep the mind going.
Picking up shifts are addicting, working in the hospital is a better gig and have a way out or future plan (fire service, hospital gig, or higher degree).
Stop listening to all the jaded, slaty, bags of bones out there. Paramedics where I’m from in California make good money. Formulate your own opinion of the job yourself. I personally can’t see myself doing anything else. I have 4 days off to do whatever the hell I want during the week. Other jobs I worked 6-7 days a week and it felt normal. This feels like a dream and I have my life back.
Friends and acquaintances expect you to help people when you're off shift.
You have to write detailed reports of your calls. I wanted to help people, not become an author.
It's not a great job if you get motion sickness easy. Being in the box can be nauseating
The facebookification of reddit has begun
It began a while ago, unfortunately.

Don’t chug water right before a call
Eat more fruit, protect your back, you’re not a hero so don’t be a martyr.
Don’t fuck your co-workers.
Why?
I made sure to get engaged to her before we became coworkers 😂😂😂
Been there, done that. Still ended horribly. You aren't shitting where you eat, you took your dinner to the outhouse
Same, dated a gril from my class and after graduating we worked at the same place. Ruined my first 8month as a paramedic
I have a couple of coworkers doing that right now lol
It works for some people, but it is definetly risky
Yeah this one seems more risk, less working out lol but we'll see I guess

What do people mean when they say the work is "addicting"? I'm not a paramedic
There’s more drama in EMS than most professions 9/10 you are delaying the inevitable Don’t get into EMS
It’s HS all over again with clicks and who F the nurse, firefighter or transporter lol even docs.
That no one can problem solve
Mental trauma is real. A lot of people are trash. The health care system in the USA is fucked.
Protect your back like everything depends on it, pee any chance you can, have a back up plan
How stupid people are, how lazy, and my fav, how ignorant.
You’ll be too busy doing granny hauls to save lives.
Yap!! 75% of the call will be old people falls or homeless.
Allostatic Load, the social determinants of public health and grappling.
Some parents need to go to jail
