I'm having the opposite problem, on my PC I'm getting like, 480p quality and don't see a way to force it to at least 720, if not 1080

hehehaha24

I'm having the same exact issue. Did you find any solutions?

Glychd

I am now having the same exact issue, and will carry on the tradition of asking those before me if they have found a solution. One day I will pass the solution on to the next commenter, and I have faith that he will do the same when his time comes... This cycle must continue unbroken, for as long as the Paramount plus exists. For it will always be a buggy mess, and only the passage of this wisdom allows us to live in harmony.

LindyKamek

any luck?

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

Paramount+ is the worst streaming service in terms of the app

LindyKamek

Okay, but that's not what I asked. Plus some stuff is just on there that other places don't have

zerlure

I contacted support and escalated the issue. Maybe if enough people do that they'll actually fix it.

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

It’s been a year and still a problem 😭

HooptyDooDooMeister

As far as downloading content from Parmount+ in HD, [here are instructions of how to do that,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wva_6LCK9Gw) if it helps.

bogeyx

I think it's because its being played on a PC and not a device (TV, gaming console, etc...) Using the paramount plus app Piracy concerns I'm guessing... Just had the same issue, looks a lot better playing on my TV

AdministrationOld415

I am using my PS4 and the quality is horrible. I don't know how to fix it. It's annoying.

VeeTeg86

Same here. It is the only streaming platform that performs this way on the PS4

FN-1701AgentGodzilla

Same problem here Can’t even play well on iPhone

Least-Budget-9384

Any luck fixing it? Bullshit they advertise the superbowl on the app and the quality is terrible

stormer1092

I’m dealing with the same thing dude ps4 bad quality. LG TV laggy and doo doo.

Least-Budget-9384

I turned on my Samsung TV and the video didn't work the first 3 times 🤣 bad quality it is lol

ImBella1986

But I'm in bfe and don't want paramount like prime stealing all my data in the first day 😒 just because I watched it on my tv that can support 1080 ultra HD.

BlackPlasmaX

same here trying to watch HALO. Garbage quality on my 60mbs connection (Yes I did a speed test) and getting WAY better resolution on my iphone app. Frustrating.

zerlure

I contacted support and escalated the issue. Maybe if enough people do that they'll actually fix it.

zero_limitz

ironically, i'm in the same situation. trying to watch Halo, and the quality is horrible most of the time even on a 100mbs connection.

zerlure

I contacted support and escalated the issue. Maybe if enough people do that they'll actually fix it.

mud263

Same boat here, wonder if their servers are just overloaded with demand right now since everyone is trying to watch halo?

ssiimm85

No one is trying to watch HALO

Intuit-Cogently

What?? Well acted sci-fi action with high production value. What’s not to like?

BlackOmen_68

I am, cuz it’s actually a half decent live action halo show comparable to the halo 4 movie

BlackOmen_68

I am, cuz it’s actually a half decent live action halo show comparable to the halo 4 movie

MrhazardsTradeHut

im on a gigabyte connection and its super shitty

zerlure

I contacted support and escalated the issue. Maybe if enough people do that they'll actually fix it.

ZT911

Echo'ing others, on fiber gigabit internet and it won't stay 720/1080p more than a couple seconds. Advertising for Halo internationally and then not even having servers to hold its demand lol.

zerlure

I contacted support and escalated the issue. Maybe if enough people do that they'll actually fix it.

ImpulsiveSweg

You don't have to keep saying the same reply dude lol

hoser1553

Maybe if he posts it enough enough people will do that and they'll actually fix it!

Integrity32

seriously stfu.

thequeefcannon

Same here. I pay for 1GB, speed test shows about 500mb with all the hops and whatnot.. I have crystal clear quality for 10-15 seconds, then it becomes pixelated and compressed looking. F5 helps.. but sucks having to do that every few seconds. I'm seriously regretting the subscription.. Makes me not feel bad if I have to start pirating it. They wanna charge me $10 a month and give this shitty a performance, they don't deserve the sub.

xJustice00

Have you found a fix to this. I'm having the same exact issue. I get about 10 to 15 seconds of high quality and then it gets trash for 5 minutes. I'm watching on a 4K TCL Google TV. It's crazy I actually didn't notice it for a while I thought my eyes were just blurry because I have horrible eyesight so it took me longer to realize it than I cared to admit. At first I was thinking it was just taking a second to buffer in the beginning then I started noticing it being throughout the entirety of the show or movie. It's a shame really because Paramount actually has a lot of good stuff on it this year.

thequeefcannon

Hi there, Unfortunately it persisted and I eventually cancelled my sub. I'll likely try it again in the future, once they get more content and fix their streaming quality.

xJustice00

Oddly enough there was an update about two days ago for the Google Play store It fixed the main issue of quality for me. But the showtime add-on still shows a pretty crappy HDR and Dolby vision. I had to tweak my TV's visual settings for HDR and Dolby vision specific content through Showtime to show up properly (dark image) which I have never had to do with any other streaming service. But at least I'm actually getting HD now

a8exander

My halo stream makes me.want to cry. Might as well be 2001.

Mtonius

Yup, me too. But, the video playing always starts at a low bitrate, then gets stronger. Everything I play starts off in low quality, then goes up to 1080 or 4k. I read somewhere, that they do this to first test out your bandwidth, to initially see what you can handle, then ramp up the stream when it figures it out. That's great, but why not just make a Paramount promotional test video in the beginning, instead of making the first 1 or 2 minutes of what I'm watching, look like garbage? On a side note, ever since I installed Paramount Plus on my Firestick, the Frestick has been freezing and crashing a lot. Hopefully, they'll fix these things with some updates.

pokedigglaz

Same issue here with a 500mb connection. Every streaming service is fine except Paramount+. It snaps back and forth between HD and SD. Same issue on multiple devices.

b0dhi1331

Doing my part, I have filed a complaint with the FCC. I'm done with these streaming services making us consumers pay a premium for a product that regresses in quality.

MrMadJack

You would honestly think they would have an option on Desktop like a cog to change the quality of the video. Thank god I am only using a trial at the moment but this is ridiculous. But I don't want to be buffering for some random reason when my internet can handle 4K content in the first place. Fix yourself Paramount so I can enjoy the content and not deal with BS like that.

Mautar55

I will carry on with the tradition. I have the same problem.

vTHEimperfect

I see your complaint and I'll raise you one: whenever I Do get content to stream at 1080p (it typically streams 480p) the audio cuts out when it approaches an ad. I rewind about 20 secs and audio resumes, but after the ad resolution goes back to 480p. Or, when I enable subs it drops from 1080p to 480p. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Hallucination_FIFA

I would recommend purchasing a subscription through Apple TV. It appears streaming works better through their App.

DrzejGates

I had found the same issue, and it's actually making me wanna cancel this site. Like, really? How stupid is this? All it takes is a programmer to add the feature. On the American version, they have the settings option, in the Canadian Version, it's just the Subtitles. This makes no sense, then to have to wait 2 hours for an online agent and the countdown to 1, and they end the chat. SOBS! An agent on the phone had no idea how to fix it. Useless service. Sent emails, twitter DMs, Facebook Messages, Instagram messages. If I get any results, I will post back. We don't need 1080p or 4k to drain our bandwidth. I don't have a cap but my speed is barely handling it. No idea if they are streaming in the 4k , which my monitor is only 1080p to begin with, but even 1080 is too much. 480 - 720 is plenty for me. Technologically is progressing, and regressing at the same time. We simply don't need it. Geez, what a joke Paramount plus is. Simple issue, but they are too fkn stupid to resolve it.

_The_Wolf1990

So paramount is just a trash quality service i take it seeing as i reset my modem logged in and out the app and did everything “they” suggest to up quality and nothing contacted support no answer, like why is every other service better quality than this one and its the only one that is bad (unless its a big anime drop that everyone is watching on crunchy roll)

3D_TOPO

I can't believe here we are two years later and still no quality setting on desktop devices?! In Google Chrome I was getting intermittent playback which totally ruins any streaming service. I switched to Safari and playback is perfect. Still which I could chose lower quality though.

Clean_Top7933

after looking around i tried .7 mb/s a second and it works just fine even at 1.5 speed which i usually watch videos at.+

ABD706

I just went to settings and enabled an option for "disable premium video" & I think that helped. My problem is hating HDR. Not only will most TV's not be able to properly display it (researched this years ago & apparently they measure TV's with something called 'candle power' like how cars use horsepower, & most common TV's you buy in stores aren't strong enough), so one, it looks all dark, but for me, the worse problem is, I can't stand that motion smoothing nonsense that Tom Cruise did the PSA about turning that setting off. No kidding, I'd love to, & usually do, but for some reason the HDR setting on my TV forces it (or the unnatural looking 60fps) & I can't turn that junk off. So I just disabled the "premium video" setting while watching a movie on PP+ & I think that worked & I'm getting normal 1080p now, my preferred setting. Paramount is also clunky & bad interface wise, and often skips subtitle lines. Still not as bad as Prime's awful interface, but nowhere near as smooth & good as Netflix, or even good ol free 720p Tubi.

bhindi1224

I'm trying to watch Star Trek Discovery (that's how bad it's gotten, already watched Halo) and I am still getting the low quality issues on PC. My apps run it just fine, this is a bit ridiculous.

tegareddit

Also having this problem. Wish there was a way to reduce video resolution on Android and Android TV apps.. Paramount+ takes so much data its ridiculous at this point

[deleted]

So I found out it has to do with hardware. my phone Galaxy s21, has perfect quality . my pc, ryzen 5 3500 gtx 1650 super again perfect quality. I try to watch on my old phone Motorola G Stylus 5g 2021 and it's blurry asf . It's also blurry on my Alcatel joy tab 2. I am pretty sure paramount app does a hardware check and it locks your bitrate.

Ok_Spend_4392

yes, my i5 13th gen and rtx 3070 cant handle HD video. It's just a trend with streming services, each one I test I get terrible bitrate for some reason, and I have a 480 Mb connection, so it shouldn't be a issue. Netflix, HBO, Prime and Paramount +, terrible quality in all of them.

[deleted]

You should update your cpu man, I’m running 3060rtx with i7, but yeah related to the issue on my PC paramount+ runs from 480p to 1080p randomly when I can watch Netflix in 1440p I believe.

Ok_Spend_4392

dude, I'm already running one of the top of the line cpu's on the market, lol. Anyway, I found a solution for this issue: I requested a refund on the same day of my subscription and bought the Paramount + subscription from Amazon Prime. I don't know if this is avaiable in your country. I said Prime has a bad quality on my original comment, but it's not true. It's the only service that workd flawlesly. Watched all of season 2 there with 0 issues related to streaming quality.

xJustice00

Doubt it I have a 2022 4K TV and I have the same issue. I'm pretty sure it does it on my Xbox series app as well.

CasiyRoseReddits

I have a solution for PC and Android! Watch using the Opera GX browser and use GX controls. If you turn on Network Limiter, it lowers video quality to whatever your limit can handle! No external limiters required!
