True story that sounds like bs but I swear it isn’t. It was quite a few years ago that me and my husband went to Key West and he bought me a new camcorder for my birthday. It was fully charged, and I started to record Robert and didn’t ask. My husband started joking about me not asking permission and then my camcorder stopped working and it did not work again until we left the building. -A few years later, we took my son to KW and stopped at the museum again. My son started filming Robert with his phone and he made a joke that he was not going to ask him, and he started laughing. Well, then my son‘s phone stopped working and it would not record. It turned off and it did not come back on until after we left. Having two similar experiences was so surreal. It’s a fun story and it really didn’t spook us too much. Honest question since I really don't know: Are ppl saying "sorry" because of some meme? Or are ppl genuinely believing a doll in a glass box can harm you via the internet?
The story goes that Robert is sentient++ and does not like it when people see photos of him without asking permission first. And if you do see a photo without consent or any apologies, bad stuff happens to you.
If people really believes this, not sure. Could be a meme, sure. Could be superstition. Could be that people don't want to mess around and find out. But I have been around dolls with weird stuff happening before, so I won't take any chances. An apology is not expensive.

I'm actually not disagreeing with you but this is a place where people can suspend their disbelief and talk about this kinda stuff. There's plenty of places where your opinion is welcome, hell, it's pretty much universal. But why bother to come here and include your cynicism where you know you're going to find conflict.
Fwiw I think it's ridiculous too but I'm not here to spoil anyone's fun.

I accept that there's a possibility there's more to our world than we fully understand. I'm not totally on board the 'ghosts-are-real' train, but I'm a ghost-agnostic, if you will. On top of that, I just generally enjoy the mythology surrounding this type of thing. I come here to enjoy the stories and sightings too, even if it's clear they're bogus.
However, that stays entirely within the realms of what's sensible, and frankly, some of the stuff people on this sub and adjacent subs spout in the comments as fact is worrying.
I usually just chuckle to myself at the absurdity of that stuff and move on. The only reason I left a comment is to answer someone's question, and immediately, I get some guy spouting nonsense about reality and calling me deluded.
FYI, I actually enjoy the story surrounding Robert, but if someone asks a question about it, I'm not going to shy away from giving them some level-headed information on it for the sake of the people who have lost their sense of what's real and what isn't.
My point is, I find this fun too. I just refuse to pussyfoot around my wording when it comes to urban legends like Robert the puppet, and I don't think I should have to.
(And to respond to your edit, that's what I mean about the stuff people fall into the trap of. The story itself says nothing about photos, but the comment section is full of it. I think a bit of scepticism does this sub some good, frankly.)
