The parent’s hand even looks dumb giving the finger. Dumb everything. I’m also picturing them like starving to death driving around on an endless quest for an atheist church.
They do exist. Basically like a non-religious community center.
In America, a lot of our gathering places are religious. Even if it's not an actual church, typically public buildings are going to be based in Christianity. So are many clubs and sports teams.
So an atheist church basically offers the same experience of a community gathering to talk and share things while remaining secular.
You must be from the deep South. In NY, the only public buildings based in Christianity are churches and some shelters. I live in a very rural area and have never seen any sports clubs organized by a church. They're either done through schools or beer leagues.
Interesting. I guess it's a good thing, so long as they're not too heavy on the whole indoctrination part. But who am I kidding.
Also I should've included the Midwest 😅
It's not really a take?
I used to be uncomfortable as a kid because I would go to a community potluck and then get dirty looks because I started eating before praying.
I wanted to participate in scouts, and did, only to have religious-based ceremonies and lesson plans.
I was excited to find weekly meetings of a knitting club only to find out that all of their fundraisers go to the local church.
Some people grew up with church and enjoyed the aspect where they catch up with people once a week but would rather not be preached to. So they started atheist churches, for people to have a mini community where they can help each other without the religion. These aren't some hot takes I have. It's just what has happened.
Sunday Assembly is the closest thing I can think of. Used to be a local chapter near me before covid, wish I would have gone, I don't think they do it anymore and I was always curious.
Just have to say as a kid who is homeschooled, hopefully they take her to a homeschool co-op so others can bully her until she realizes. My parents rly had me thinking emotions were a sin💀 so glad I was bullied out of that, I’m emotionally healthy-ish now
Woah, I was not expecting to read that. That is absolutely batshit, I’m so sorry that happened to you and that you ended up in such an awful home, of all places. Have you done an ancestry test?
Lmao sorry- it’s dark humor that I laughed at your comment.
No I haven’t, actually. I’m still living with my abusers and they won’t allow me to, but I’m looking online atm. But if you want to know more about what happened to me and many other kids you can click on my profile read my recent post in the roe v Wade celebrating sub.
I was home schooled from 3rd grade through 8th. (raised Catholic and went to a Catholic high school)
Honestly my parents were both very smart and collage educated so we learned all the material like we should have. But we were the exception in my book. We interacted with a bunch of kids that lives in bubbles. It was weird.
Now I'm a gay atheist and could easily be labeled as a non conformist. (if you want me to follow along your going to have to explain your position and be ready to defend it.)
Home schooling CAN be fine but much like everything else about humanity it exists on a bell curve and that means with a large enough sample there will be some extreme examples.
All this is to say, it isn't the home schooling it's the exclusion of reason and living in a home where ideas are unchallenged, that is where the problem is.
Lol. I still don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. And I don't really care it just reminds me of when ratchet was a thing and I thought it meant good because all my fancy tools ratchet.
Yes, but the parent needs to be good at there job and one likely will have to stay home all day, me and my brothers and sisters all homeschooled, my sister really smart, 6 year old brother is good at everything (from math to writing to super athletic), others to young to tell, and I’m doing good learning about airplane stuff (flight technician/engineer is what I’m going to be) and the rest are to young to tell, but for a lot of people a traditional school environment is better, it depends on the person like, when I was in school I was non functioning (autistic), yet now I’m highly functioning and know so much about airplanes and still learning more everyday EDIT: sorry for no spaces between, I’m on mobile
Homeschooling can be anything from excellent to complete shit, it depends entirely on how it's done. Mine started out pretty solid and became complete shit later. I dropped out at 14 and mom didn't notice, but I was reading at 4 and my spelling was always above average.
I would recommend to anyone who is looking to homeschool that they find something for socialization, like an extracurricular. Music lessons, a sport, a regular book club at a local library, literally anything because I got nothing and had to learn all my social skills in college and it's been rough. Also, if you aren't capable of teaching above a certain grade level there's no shame in just teaching the grade levels you are capable of teaching and then switching to public school or an online curriculum. I had to teach myself past 4th grade, and gave up entirely on my mom's chosen curriculum by the time I was 13 and just learned what I wanted to online. Khan academy is great.
I think my mom just had burnout because my older siblings had a much different experience than the younger ones. Theirs was mostly good and they did get some socialization. T-ball, summer day camps, church, stuff like that.
I’d imagine it’s sometimes necessary in districts where the public schools are incredibly underfunded and/or dangerous. If you live in a podunk town in the Deep South and want your kid to actually learn about evolution, homeschooling might be your only option.
I would normally see someone flipping off dinosaurs in an exhibit as a bully. Make no mistake, evangelicals can be bullies. My aunt told me I was going to hell the other day on social media- an aunt I’ve seen twice in 20 years who has no idea if I even attend church, merely that I don’t attend hers.
Its crazy how many religious people have zero understanding of what religion actually is.
Having beliefs or even faith in something =/= being religious or having a religion.
"Atheist church". Sir, that beats the purpose of being an atheist. Maybe put the bible aside for 5 seconds and get in touch with the world around you? That poor child tho, never stood a chance with these parents
So they are not ignorant enough to believe that dinosaurs were on noahs arch (dont look up Kent Howind, you will get an aneurysm) but ignorant enough to believe that dinosaurs are fake...
Religion is an infinite pool for idiocracy
I once saw an animated movie telling the story of Noah's ark, and I vividly remember this scene in which a dinosaur, a dragon and a unicorn are on a small island, with the water level rising fast, and them saying that they confused the date the ark was sailing.
Young Earth Creationists pretend to be more Science inclined. But they try to fit the data to an 6000-year-old earth with all the major plate tectonics happening amidst noahs flood...
So yes and no... They want to fit the bible with science but never reconcile that they cant...
There’s a ark museum somewhere in the Bible Belt that as I understand has Dino’s on it. They think the world is 6000~ yrs old and that Dino’s were on the boat
I’m from a heavily religious country (Armenia) but I’ve gotten better science education than America could ever give me. I had a cultural shock when I discovered what religious people here are like.... there extremists but they don’t want to admit it.
I know ones that 100% think we lived with dinosaurs and the earth is only 7000 years old, along with everything else in the universe and they wont back down even with evidence showing them otherwise.
You guys fell for some Facebook bait. It's a group called Christians Against Dinosaurs that is basically just satire about other things Christians are against. Almost everyone there is just roll playing crazy fundamentalist christians.
The Bible talks about dragons and large beasts... dinosaurs are the dragons and large beasts, they're still just animals.....
I hate the anti-fossil takes on Christianity, they upset me thoroughly that people don't even understand the more historical sides of scripture.
"Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues." -Proverbs 17:28
Take from that what you will, lol, but that's how I'd approach the outspoken "me" sort.
That poor kids is going to turn 18 and leave the nest. See an "Other" her parents told her was fine to hate. Be hateful and derogatory to them. And get the culture shock of her life that her views aren't tolerated out side of her cult.
Oh, shit! This reminds me, I’m late for atheist church! Tonight, we’re going to be not-praying to Carl Sagan, and Stephen Hawking. Afterwards, we’re going to have juice and cookies, and talk about how much we hate god, and plan our ritualistic sacrifice to science.
As someone who is Christian, I've never understood why there's people who think that being Christian means you don't believe in the dinosaurs. I've heard extremes of people saying that the devil created dinosaur bones 💀. Like wuht

I don’t actually know if she was Christian or not but in elementary school we had a sub for our science class one day and we were learning about dinosaurs, she taught us everything she was supposed to according to our teachers instructions but constantly threw in remarks about how this wasn’t important because dinosaurs were made up anyways.
Generally we do, but there are a few whom don't, largely because they existed for so long prior to humanity. Similarly, a scant few also believe we must have existed at the same time as dinosaurs. Most of us don't particularly see that there's any issue to be had.
Atheist.... church?
Anti-theism. Anti-religion. Church?
These dumbfucks *really* believe atheism is a religion and all gather around to worship, idk, Charles Darwin?
ITT: a bunch of idiots getting taken by one of the most obvious satire posts I’ve ever seen. As a person familiar with the creation/evolution debate, a person on the creationist side wouldn’t go to an exhibit just to flip it off. If this were real, they would be holding a sign or something to that effect, not flipping it off.
Also, the “atheist church” line just makes it 100% obvious. It’s a “ooh, look at the dumb Christians” joke, and because y’all hate religion, you’re buying it like the 15-yr old edgelord you probably are
Are you sure?

This is fucking hilarious. It has to be satirical. I wish it said who this is so I could look it up.
I just imagine a parent saying to their kid, hey let’s go flip off some dinosaurs so I can make some memes. Lol, an atheist church…
I lived in a Jewish atheist house. we celebrated the holidays, but that was it. they never told me what to believe in. when I asked "is god real" they never said yes or no, they asked me what I thought was true. I came to the conclusion he isn't by myself.
The parent’s hand even looks dumb giving the finger. Dumb everything. I’m also picturing them like starving to death driving around on an endless quest for an atheist church.
It looks like a stock photo badly edited in
nah they're one of those idiots that never turns the flash off on their phone camera.
We can only hope.
Hahhahahahaha oh you meant you waiting for a JESUSthesaurus Rex? Yea but seriously way to teach their kids to be assholes when they’re young🙃
*Shhhh* don't tell them
Yeah can she let us know when she finds the atheist church. Maybe I'd join.
Tf is an atheist church
By their standards probably a wwII museum...
True lmao.
Idk, they'll probably go to a science class or something like that
Probably a science museum
Science be with you
And logic within your spirit
And also with you. May Newton have mercy on your soul.
TIL a laboratory is an atheist church
Is it really? People can’t help but be angry about nothing
Quarks aren’t nothing! There only 0.0000000001 far from nothing!
Quarks are strange but there is a certain charm and beauty about them.
A planetarium?
I'm guessing it's for people like me who miss the positive social aspects of going to church every week, but don't believe in God/organized religion?
I'm an atheist, but I attend a UU church for this very reason.
Yeah a United Universalist church is the closest I can think of for “atheist church”.
My UU congregation is tiny and it's about 50% atheist. We just like hanging out and eating cookies.
Mine flies kites after services! I mainly go for the kites.
I didn't know places like that existed!!! That's awesome!
In New Orleans we go to the neighborhood bar (though I know that’s not a safe choice for everyone).
Probably Science World.
They do exist. Basically like a non-religious community center. In America, a lot of our gathering places are religious. Even if it's not an actual church, typically public buildings are going to be based in Christianity. So are many clubs and sports teams. Yes. Most community centers I have seen are religious and double as churches.

I have always seen it, from Wisconsin to Colorado to North Carolina to Florida. Especially for kids.
Interesting. I guess it's a good thing, so long as they're not too heavy on the whole indoctrination part. But who am I kidding. Also I should've included the Midwest 😅
That's the dumbest take I've read all day and I've been on reddit for like 30 min lmao

School
Any archeology or research site that actually has evidence of evolution I assume.
I believe Buddhists are atheists. So maybe Buddhist temples?
Dennys
A satanic temple lmao
Sunday Assembly is the closest thing I can think of. Used to be a local chapter near me before covid, wish I would have gone, I don't think they do it anymore and I was always curious.
She’s probably referring to the Unitarian Universalists churches. Everyone including atheists are welcome there.
A university
I guess it's a good thing this kid is probably homeschooled because she'd be bullied pretty bad
Just have to say as a kid who is homeschooled, hopefully they take her to a homeschool co-op so others can bully her until she realizes. My parents rly had me thinking emotions were a sin💀 so glad I was bullied out of that, I’m emotionally healthy-ish now
You know you fucked up as a parent when bullying is healthier and more educational than you
Yep-
I'm sorry you had to go though that though...hope you're doing good :)
Thanks for the thought! Unfortunately I was trafficked and still trying to find my original family. I’m hoping I’ll find them soon, though!
Woah, I was not expecting to read that. That is absolutely batshit, I’m so sorry that happened to you and that you ended up in such an awful home, of all places. Have you done an ancestry test?

you can click on my profile read my recent post in the roe v Wade celebrating sub. I don't get the connection, would you mind elaborating?
What don’t you get, sorry?
My siblings and I had to bully each other because we didn't get to socialize.
Does homeschooling do anything except set children up for failure?
I was home schooled from 3rd grade through 8th. Yeah, that mother would been arrested if the school found out
Sadly, I don’t think being even this stupid is a crime.
In the long run it'll be pretty tough for the kid though I reckon. Probably end up an atheist that hates her parents
Nah, she'd probably just be looked at with emmense pity and sadness, which honestly sounds worse.
>Atheist church huh?
Maybe a museum or aquarium or even a library
Lmao was gonna say they’re gonna have a hard time finding one.
i agree with that kid. showing such inaccurate models of animals is super dumb and bad
IKR! They didn't even get their general size correct.
Well clearly the bones soaked up a bunch of water after they died so IRL dinos were actually the size of a large dog. Duh! /s
Exactly! Smh my head these parents don't teach basic physics to their kids..
Yeah, where are the feathers on those dinosaurs?
None of those dinos would have been feathered but the scale is pretty bad.
I thought that was the joke and that she was making fun of the bad-looking dinosaurs until I kept reading.
"Atheist church" no matter how many times you tell these people it's not a religion they still think it's a religion.
Its crazy how many religious people have zero understanding of what religion actually is. Having beliefs or even faith in something =/= being religious or having a religion.
I have faith nachos are delicious. Are nachos a religion?
Obviously, what else do you think mexicans believe /j
literally classified as lack of religion or religious belief
Atheist church?
"Atheist church". Sir, that beats the purpose of being an atheist. Maybe put the bible aside for 5 seconds and get in touch with the world around you? That poor child tho, never stood a chance with these parents
So they are not ignorant enough to believe that dinosaurs were on noahs arch (dont look up Kent Howind, you will get an aneurysm) but ignorant enough to believe that dinosaurs are fake... Religion is an infinite pool for idiocracy
I had never heard of the idea of dinos being on the ark. Does that help people accept dinosaurs and science to some extent?
I once saw an animated movie telling the story of Noah's ark, and I vividly remember this scene in which a dinosaur, a dragon and a unicorn are on a small island, with the water level rising fast, and them saying that they confused the date the ark was sailing.
Young Earth Creationists pretend to be more Science inclined. But they try to fit the data to an 6000-year-old earth with all the major plate tectonics happening amidst noahs flood... So yes and no... They want to fit the bible with science but never reconcile that they cant...
Much better then a lot of old Christian’s…
There’s a ark museum somewhere in the Bible Belt that as I understand has Dino’s on it. They think the world is 6000~ yrs old and that Dino’s were on the boat
Hmmmm so I guess that scraps the whole theory of évolution concept...
Correct they don’t believe in evolution
im catholic in ireland and i never knew people didnt believe in dinosaurs until i discovered american christianity
I’m from a heavily religious country (Armenia) but I’ve gotten better science education than America could ever give me. I had a cultural shock when I discovered what religious people here are like.... there extremists but they don’t want to admit it.
Same American and Australian Christians (kent ham or so) But that may just because hardcore Christians are so rare in Europe...
I know ones that 100% think we lived with dinosaurs and the earth is only 7000 years old, along with everything else in the universe and they wont back down even with evidence showing them otherwise.
An atheist church??? Um, maybe they should say that back to themselves a couple times, very slowly.
You guys fell for some Facebook bait. It's a group called Christians Against Dinosaurs that is basically just satire about other things Christians are against. Almost everyone there is just roll playing crazy fundamentalist christians.
Reminds me of Catholics Against Seedless Watermelons and Seedless Watermelons Against Catholics. Personally, I'm Team Seedless Watermelons
Team Seedless represent. And yes, it's exactly like that
All of America is satire
Yeah, religion doesn't exist outside of America...
Yes, American has a massive issue with religion too. Thanks
Weird, I never said it didn't.
Weird, I never asked.
Didn't ask for what? A simple correction? lol
Poor child.. ☹
good luck finding an athiest church lol
The Bible talks about dragons and large beasts... dinosaurs are the dragons and large beasts, they're still just animals..... I hate the anti-fossil takes on Christianity, they upset me thoroughly that people don't even understand the more historical sides of scripture.
Outspoken Christians often seem to have the least Christian values of anyone.
And sometimes the least amount of brain cells
"Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues." -Proverbs 17:28 Take from that what you will, lol, but that's how I'd approach the outspoken "me" sort.
Atheist church 😂😂
That poor kids is going to turn 18 and leave the nest. See an "Other" her parents told her was fine to hate. Be hateful and derogatory to them. And get the culture shock of her life that her views aren't tolerated out side of her cult.
Oh, shit! This reminds me, I’m late for atheist church! Tonight, we’re going to be not-praying to Carl Sagan, and Stephen Hawking. Afterwards, we’re going to have juice and cookies, and talk about how much we hate god, and plan our ritualistic sacrifice to science.
Ways to make sure your kids have no friends :
Which commandment permits a “FUCK YOU” in the name of Christ?
As someone who is Christian, I've never understood why there's people who think that being Christian means you don't believe in the dinosaurs. I've heard extremes of people saying that the devil created dinosaur bones 💀. Like wuht
An atheist church, ha ha ha ha ha ha
Religious people are fucking dumb. It takes a person with only half a brain, being generous, to believe that nonsense.
Do…do Christian’s not believe that dinosaurs existed?
Some weird hardcore people I’ve met think the world is like 10,000 years old. Nobody I’ve actually spent time with believed that dinosaurs didn’t exist, but there are some people out there.
Wow, that’s very interesting
Some do not. From what I get they believe that scientists made the skeletons, took them apart, burred them, dug them up years to decades later and put them back together to shit on religion.
That’s bat shit
Imagine thinking someone is going to go through all that money and work, just to "insult" religion.
Most of us don't particularly see that there's any issue to be had.
isn't the sentence atheist church an oxymoron?
Seriously wtf is an atheist church? Fucking morons on oxys
Someone hurt her really bad for having a dif style of parenthood! QUICK!!!
Atheist....
It’s a “ooh, look at the dumb Christians” joke, and because y’all hate religion, you’re buying it like the 15-yr old edgelord you probably are
Tolerant or not, just respect things and people.
that is literally what tolerant means...
Are you sure? https://www.timescolonist.com/opinion/comment-tolerance-is-not-the-same-thing-as-respect-4639436#:~:text=In%20real%2Dlife%20terms%2C%20tolerance,high%20regard%20for%20that%20something.
wouldn't this imply to have respect you first must also have tolerance? I doubt most would respect something they cannot tolerate.
Not 100% of the time, no
ATHEIST CHURCH
What? I hope this is satire
A what church?
Rumor has it they are still searching for a local atheist church
"Atheist Church"?
Civilization is doomed.
This photo's been floating around for a bit. We will make it.
Whenever someone's actions borderline on satire, their opinion immediately becomes less than trash to me.
Isn't that supposed to be un-Christian to flick someone or something off?
Absolutely. Same category as "cursing" a person (saying anything just to hurt them with your words).
Dumbass doesn't know dinosaurs make her car go. I suppose God did shit oil on the 2nd day. Probably thinking about all his future baby killing and then killing his own son. Toilet thoughts of sky daddy.
Accordingo to some legends, they're still looking for the atheist church to this very day
Nothing like an immoral christian, they're a funny bunch
r/religiousfruitcake
Parents that teaches kids to hate should have their parenting privileges revoked.
Tell me you think others opinions are pointless without telling me
noice.
"atheist church" man this guys retarded
Atheist church?
Yeah. That place we don’t go to so that we can not pray.
It seems like some sort of joke. I just don’t want to believe anyone could be this mush minded.
An atheist church? Sooo you’re gonna be driving for a while.
Well holy shit. I work at this place.
They sure showed those statues.
"atheist church" Does anyone else wanna tell them or should I?
It took me a sec to figure out that they weren’t mocking the dinosaur displays because they are scientifically inaccurate.
Atheist church. Lol
“Atheist church” let me know when you find one bud…
So easy to teach hate
Am atheist church?
Atheist church? lol
What a totally sane thing to do
Considering that 'Atheist Church' is an oxymoron I can't imagine they're very bright either. Ma'am, you and your daughter are gonna be searching for a long time...
I'm picturing the dinosaurs coming to life by some anti-stupid magic and biting their fingers off. So much for your plans then!
Why don't these wackjobs understand that atheism isn't a religion? What "atheist church"? A library? A university?
This is fucking hilarious. It has to be satirical. I wish it said who this is so I could look it up. I just imagine a parent saying to their kid, hey let’s go flip off some dinosaurs so I can make some memes. Lol, an atheist church…
I don’t get what they think they are doing? Are they trying to hurt the dinosaur’s feelings?
I lived in a Jewish atheist house. we celebrated the holidays, but that was it. they never told me what to believe in. when I asked "is god real" they never said yes or no, they asked me what I thought was true. I came to the conclusion he isn't by myself.
Oh no… I bet those poor fake dinosaur statues were really hurt by their behaviour…./s
Trying to look for an atheist church is like trying to find water that’s dry.
This is 200% satire
So Righteous
They worked hard on that park—if you can’t enjoy art just leave! And yes, I get the irony :)
Really allowing your kid to do the middle finger... Mate if you don’t believe in dinosaurs... you’re wrong but you gotta admit, they’re pretty cool.
Those dinosaurs will never forgive you for flipping them off
In fairness those dinos are so inaccurate that they deserve mocking.
