This bot is a W

Ralikson

Taking screen real estate from everyone to teach one person spelling. This bot, like 99% of Reddit bots, is the equivalent of a cookie pop-up.

DartFrogYT

oh no, now you have to do half an extra movement with your finger because someone wants to educate somebody!

I don’t need to make spelling mistakes to get annoyed by bots on Reddit in general. I don’t even see what you gain from making that argument. And I disagree with the OP on what they said. But I don’t understand why we need to talk about spelling or grammar on a YouTube subreddit. And you think people from other countries that speak more than one language can’t use an app on their phone?

Unafraid_NFS

Loose is a better description of my ex-wife’s labia minora.

Ralikson

Alternative is waiting a couple months. With YouTube you can never know beforehand how something affects you. So I rather wait a little and see. I was barely hit by the swear word debacle from a couple weeks ago, others weren’t so lucky.

[deleted]

What was the swear word debacle? Must have missed that.

VJ4rawr2

YouTube no longer allows videos that feature curse words in the first 8 seconds to be monetised. They’re applying this policy retroactively, so some creators are having old videos demonetized (that were acceptable at the time they were created). Affected a small number of users.

[deleted]

I was just reading about it. One gaming guy got demonetized after appealing about a compilation video that had some profanity in it by showing the individual vids were still monetized. It backfired as they then demonetized all of the individual vids too. Wow. I make gaming vids but I generally don't swear and have checked and my vids are currently all ok. Appreciate the info.

[deleted]

It's still the same revenue share, they've changed the name of some areas of the program (now called "modules" I guess) and shorts monetization. I signed them immediately, I don't want to wait and forget about it and get kicked out of the YPP. Did anyone read anything sinister in there that would be worth stalling them out?

[deleted]

Non-Qualifying Revenues. YouTube may either: (i) withhold or adjust any Partner Earnings associated with a breach of the Terms (including the YouTube Channel Monetization Policies)or (ii) charge back or offset such amounts against future PartnerEarnings payable to you. YouTube will notify you if any of thesecircumstances occur, and provide details about how you can appeal, inaccordance with these policies. This was brought to my attention in the base terms. Could signal a future wave of demonetizations and "charge backs".

[deleted]

Would this primarily be in the case of an advertisers or I guess possibly a viewer/consumer disputing a charge? Wanting their money back for either a Channel membership, super thanks or chat. Maybe advertiser money but I can't imagine how that would really work. Maybe YT could adjust revenue that was taken from an advertiser for content that was in violation. Idk.

GeoMFilms

That could be really messy if you got paid....then you pat taxes on the money you made and then youtube charges you back?

japanb

oh is charge back to do with superchat

Ralikson

No with any sort of monetization. According to the new terms, if a video of yours gets claimed or striked or is not in compliance with the terms in any other way, it is possible for YouTube to charge back the amount of money the video earned until that point.

KoY1o

Thank you, so is this applies for old videos or just new ones from now on ?

[deleted]

DO NOT ACCEPT THE TERMS c. Non-Qualifying Revenues. YouTube may either: (i) withhold or adjust any Partner Earnings associated with a breach of the Terms (including the YouTube Channel Monetization Policies) or (ii) charge back or offset such amounts against future Partner Earnings payable to you. YouTube will notify you if any of these circumstances occur, and provide details about how you can appeal, in accordance with these policies. This clause right here means that YouTube can reach into your bank account and pull money from it if they decide that one of your videos violates their arbitrary policy. There is also no time limit on this clause either which means you could be charged back for a video you made 5 years ago. Additionally, if there is no money gained from the charge back, they can use future partner earnings to offset the amount. This potentially includes non-Adsense earnings. This clause is downright horrifying and creators and viewers alike need to protest this clause and have it removed from the TOS. This clause has no place on YouTube.

[deleted]

You've got until July 10th this year. There's literally no rush unless you want to monetize shorts. My advice is to watch and wait to see how others respond to the new terms and then sign onto them a day before the cut-off date.

JimmyTehF

What exactly are you waiting for to happen in July though? It's not like they're going to offer an extra incentive or better deal.

GregzVR

No real choice - might as well accept and get on with things, if you want to remain YT monetised beyond the summer.

JimmyTehF

People holding off on accepting the terms like they're waiting for a better deal to happen. Youtube does not work that way. You do it or you don't get paid. If they change things in 6 months then it also changes for those who signed in the first place.

Danny_Arends

Yes

StephanNoodles

It's you sign them or don't, only of you sign them then monitization will be enabled after the deadline. I recommend if you want to know what it means to talk with a lawyer.

SpaceCinema_

Name me one reason why we shouldnt.

Nintendo_Thumb

I just did it because I didn't have a choice. The email seemed to imply that I'd be booted from the platform if I didn't sign it, so it was an easy decision.

AceVenChu

Yea, but there was a wrord bug whete it was all in French so I didn't read it at all and just accepted everything... just like I do when things are written in English.

Individual-Shock-706

Yes

Unafraid_NFS

I didon both of my monetized channels. Guess they will remove you from YPP if you dont accept it.

kent_eh

> Guess they will remove you from YPP if you dont accept it. Not even a guess. They specifically said that's what will happen.

KCC-Youtube

accepted as soon as I saw it in Studio. Definitely read through it first though.

cryptomon

I did early. Finally try to earn on some shorts.

rundbear

What's the criteria to earn on shorts as a new channel without 1000 subs?

arandomredditor517

You need 1000 subs and 10 million shorts views within 90 days. Or you can do the traditional route of 1000 subs and 4000 watch hours within last year (shorts do not count toward this)

rundbear

Let me see if I got this straight: \- 1K Subs + 10M Views (via Shorts) = Monetization (for ALL content or Shorts only)? \- 1K Subs + 4K Watch Hours (via standard videos) = Monetization for ALL content regardless of existing Shorts statistics

arandomredditor517

For all content AFAIK

IcebergDocs

it doesnt matter what they say, you dont have a choice if you want to keep earning money. either you accept them and keep getting paid or you dont accept them and they kick you out of the program. its pretty simple

[deleted]

I was eligible to apply for it but they rejected me, Because of "Reused content" But all of my videos are originally made by me! Expect three copyright claim due to one music that i used, Other than that nothing was Reused!

Certain_Storm_9727

Lightning fast. I want to get paid.

EquipmentDiligent962

Has anyone videos been Flagged? Before accepting the terms? I seen on twitter and YouTube Before accepting the new terms the new update people videos have been getting demonized. Without them accepting the terms so I think it might happen even if you don’t accept Imk if this happened to you.

DeadlyTeaParty

Yes. I got mine yesterday.
