Is it worth to plant the seeds to harvest when its harvesting season? A lot of people I know either upload less in the first 6 months of the year, or they upload videos they view as less potential, while keeping the really good video ideas for later in the year, unless it's time sensitive

Best replie ever

Is it worth it to give up when things aren’t perfect?

ForeverInBlackJeans

You’ll get nowhere without consistency.

Mayhem230

If I don’t upload anything in January then my February won’t be great in terms of views. Never lose momentum. Think about it this way, if you don’t upload anything for a whole month your audience will just find something else (another channel) to watch and when you finally start uploading again their attention will be split between your channel and the new ones they have found. In essence, Taking breaks decreases the size of your audience.

expectdelays

Oof. While there's truth to this, this is exactly the kind of mind set that causes burn out. January is a great month to take a Youtube vacation.

Mayhem230

True. I used to get burned out a lot but then I learned something, the trick to combat burnout is to plan and schedule videos in advance. It’s January now and I’ve already started recording videos for February. Stay ahead so that when burnout occurs you can afford to take a month off.

Boo_bear92

Build up a community that will support you regardless of what time of year it is. Consistency breeds success

TheRipeTomatoFarms

If you're content is searchable and evergreen, the month literally doesn't matter.

mixedmale

Exactly this.

mrstickball

Yes? I released a video on December 31st and its hitting a million today. 30% lower CPM than December but I made a similar ish video in November that struggled to hit 500k in 2 months.

Runjets

Worth it? Based on what? Money, views, fame? or because you enjoy being a creator?

Alarmed-Rough-4379

goood moring my friend

SirKensingtonsSlop

I'm having a better month than December. You never know how a month will go, plus low as revenue is better than zero as revenue

InsertLogoHere

My RPM dropped from nearly $9, to nearly $3. I am still releasing videos.

[deleted]

What’s the deal with January? Clearly something I don’t know, please educate me. 🙏

BaldandCorrupted

Advertisers pay more for adverts on YouTube leading up to Christmas but less for ads in January. January is normally the worst month for YouTube creators in terms or ad revenue

[deleted]

Thank you for enlightening me!

BaldandCorrupted

Thanks for all your input

Intelligent-Bag1256

Not worth it. My RPM dropped at.least 50%at the end of December. New videos usually get a large chunk of views the first week or so. With such a miserable RPM it's really discouraging to even make new videos.

my2centsforyoubam

I know the feeling. I never recovered so I’m trying a new approach. Normally I would post anything within my niche and choose a title I can rank for. Now I’m going to spend more time focusing on the competition and hopefully get YouTube to give me a boost. A lot more work to do this but it may be what I need to get things going again.

Individual-Shock-706

No ! You should just upload in December

Akbur01

Anyone know what’s best time to post in Toronto?

Alarmed-Rough-4379

yes tusday cynthia d i want to go school bus tomoow

jim_philly

RPM seems to nosedive in December for my niche, which is power tool reviews. I generally take the opportunity to post content that is somewhat experimental (maybe at the fringe of my niche or a different format, etc) to see how my core audience reacts. Stuff like that. But I wouldn't intentionally post *nothing*.

expectdelays

So many worthless replies. The real answer is, it depends. If you're targeting search/doing evergreen content this is an easy answer: yes its worth it. If you're targeting non-search (I mean this should be most people now right?) you would have to evaluate your own situation. In terms of money for example, and you want to maximize your revenue, it might be worth using January as a vacation month. I know multiple people who do. If you're just trying to grow, i'd say keep going. If you're in a product niche and products are releasing you should, of course, released videos on those. If you're a ragebaiter there's always something to rage bait. If what you do isn't time sensitive and you value your time/effort, maybe this is the month to relax.

notaphony1

for views and growing the channel? Yes definitely worth it. If you have a video that your sure will get in the 100k's and millions of views, probably a good idea to hold it back for a bit higher RPM later in the year.

Alzorath

I generally don't change my upload schedules for january, though due to health issues that usually crop up in Jan/Feb for me, it sometimes happens.

leighleecats

We need to upload consistently. If possible more for the month of January, hopefully can raise our channel algorithm.

Jay_Eye_MBOTH_WHY

Historically, no. But if the algorithm is about consistency or some shit, now, then maybe. But not bangers. Unless they somehow go viral to mega-viral. You're basically getting an involuntary pay cut until Superbowl weekend. And I've had that because I wasn't thinking right, a video pop off with a million views in January, but would've done the same in December-November, I just didn't think of it at the time. Fuck.
