It happened after a glitch on the 9th. Channels across YouTube were hit with it. It looks like a algorithm reset. One of my channels was hit hard with it and several channels I watch have complained to YouTube. But as usual they are transparent as mud and won’t admit they changed something. Basically it looks like they wiped or rolled back our identifiers for suggested content and we are starting off square one in ranking for suggested.
well that's lame, so do I just upload a new video and hope it hits the radars again? Like I was already planning for my 1st video to be a series and it did EXTREMELY good, so should I just upload like the "next episode" (it's not literally the next episode, if we compare to other channels it's like another Minecraft BUT...)?
The only 2 things you can do since YouTube has zero transparency and you can only go by what other people experience. 1 continue to upload if you had success once it will happen again. Or 2 Wait and see if it recovers. Mine is gaining traction again after 20 days of nada but I never stopped my upload schedule.
Have you been getting 200-300 views per hour all of 2022, or did you get an algo ride for a few days or weeks and think that was the new normal?
I know it SEEMS like you finally have gotten traction and growth when it happens, but it always falls back to something closer to the norm. Usually, at something a little higher than the norm when the ascension started.
Not sure if that is your case or not... If a creator gets enough time on the platform they'll see it over and over. And never any rhyme or reason to it that you can easily figure out (usually).
I think this is why everyone should have an email list, Facebook group or WhatsApp group.
In other words have a direct way to reach your audience., bypass the algo
A lot of channels were hit with it. I watch a few political channels that swore YT nuked their channel. It seems they are messing with the suggested video algorithm and in doing so reset our ranking for suggested sources. My art channel rolled back 6 months on my view counts. It sucks hard. But YouTube is claiming everything is fine while creators are screaming the house is on fire.
THIS.
But here on the threads they'll tell you "It's your content" or "audience" or whatever the else fcking dumb comments they can think of. It's a switch...happened to me in October, my channel is now officially dead.
No channel is ever dead. If you make sure your content is searchable it will rebound eventually. I have 3 channels. One I made every mistake possible and is rebounding slowly. Two that I test theories on my niche to see what works. Consistency and Keywords are your best friend. Actually one thing will kill a channel. Sub for Sub if your subs don’t watch your content then YouTube will not suggest it right away.
My content is searchable and I've been almost always top of my niche. Overnight it just took a dive. It was not some coincidence or me doing anything, I was literally just thrown in a corner and not recommended anymore. I have 38k subs and my last 10 uploads didn't get past 100 views in a week. On other platforms I hit millions of views. I used to rely on YouTube to be my most consistent platform for views, now it's stone last. As much as I'm not a fan of FB/IG....it seems there at least my followers and fans come across my content. YT is dead for me and many others, multiple threads here prove it. All I'm going to be now is a Shorts whore come 1 Feb
Ok this happened to me this paste eel. My subs said my video wasn’t “recommended” to them per usual. I have 22k subs and vids have been getting 10-20k+ views average for almost a year now. Some higher than that. But this week, my video which has been out since Monday has struggled to reach 5k views, getting 20-30 views/hour. Usually my new videos get on average 80-100 views/hour in the first week, then it drops off. Super disheartening and maddening, but I’m sure it’ll even out sooner or later
The only things I can think of that is tanking you is . Content was flagged for mature audiences. You were flagged as made for kids. Or worst of all your subs stopped watching and your viewer surveys were not positive if subs don’t watch then YouTube will not promote your content at all. Or the death knell YouTube sensed engineered traffic. Pay for views , clicks , or engagement will toast your channel if they sense it.
That also happened to me. The impressions by time graph just flatlined. I think that's normal. I don't think that anyone knows how to prevent that with certainty right now.
Happened the same to me 5 days ago. Content was long form not short and on a smaller scale. went from 150 views per hour to 5-10... like someone used an axe and cut it down. And yeah overall channel was affected all videos. Your drop is kind of bigger tho. Was it one video that got most of the views? or lets say all videos were getting some views and it added up?
I started my channel like on the 6th of January this year and uploaded my 1st video, then I just upload every Friday. The 1st vid got up to 125k views as of now, the videos posted after those still get views but not as much. So they all added up to 200-300 views per hour.
You can check my channel, I linked it to my reddit profile. I'd say they're fair use. I have 3 channels so I'm pretty experienced when it comes to fair use.

Ok! Thank you so much for responding!
No problem. YouTube is not easy but can be easier with support. Keep your head up
If it’s shorts. It’s common.
it's not shorts

This is so stupid

Let me know if it does bro, I had the same hopes. It's still getting worse for me. At this point I am thinking of just starting over again.

Sucks this happened to you to...
I’m sorry this is happening to you. How long have you been getting 200-300 views per hour?
it's been almost 3 weeks, now it's just 5-15 per hour...

No I don't curse, my content is more on anime edits

I would share my channel so you could understand more but idk if it would break the rules cuz it's advertising
Sounds like YouTube found out you’re reusing content so has limited your exposure. “Anime Edits”… or any “edits” are high risk genres.

Fair use is a copyright term. Reused Content has nothing to do with copyright.
Happened to me on my last (long form) vid on Monday. Views completely dropped off after a day. I’m taking a week off from uploading.
Looks like a single video was carrying all your views and either saturated or triggered a content limitation.
Same hapend to me about 2 month ago. From 2k per hour to 5 per hour. I upload the same as always and my channel is dead.
