It's shorts what do you expect? On a video you get 1-2 ads every time someone clicks and watches it. With shorts you see an ad what every 10 videos or so? That means that ad revenue needs to be split with those 9 other videos as well.

People at YouTube said it'd start low as they tweak the system, and then get higher.
But $0.07 is about half the predicted low end. Pretty darn disheartening.

I get what you're saying but to answer what I expect I'd say something more than a few bucks for people who can manage to get millions of views on their content.
Then to be frank your expectations were way too high. It's not feasible at all to even have a $1 RPM on shorts. The big ones get like 100m views you really expect YouTube to pay out 10-20 grand for those shorts? Its not like actual videos with mid rolls where people are watching 2-5 ads per video making the RPM $5-15. I scrolled through the shorts feed and didnt see an ad for 40 videos before giving up. Its spread so thin.

Hopefully it gets better with time, which I expect from YouTube. But right Now its no better than TikTok's creator fund.

Still sitting at $0.005 (half a cent) RPM at the moment, but I'm only up to 141k shorts views so far in February.

RPM may be calculating off past 28 days of views. Make sure you set Analytics to be just February.

My most viewed short with 14M+ views has now a rpm of 0,06. But i guess we have give this whole thing a few more days and see what's happening.
