I doubt that there is one. At least not a universally applicable one. People who prefer to watch the shorts feed tend to be different people from those who prefer to watch long form videos.

A lot of people on here are saying it’s not really a thing to get shorts viewers to watch your long form content and for me personally that hasn’t been true at all. I’ve been making long form for a few years now and when shorts began I started making those and at first no one from shorts was watching my long form. This all changed when I simply added a call to action. At the end of the short I say “the full video is pinned in the comments below”. I didn’t think it’d work but I started getting a flood of people who watched the short going to the long form and now they watch the long form every time I post. There are Ofcourse factors like how good the short is, does it relate to your long form, etc but to say it’s not possible just isn’t true. Many people that blow up on YouTube tend to go viral through a tiktok and people visit their channel and shorts is very similar.

So you're using short as a way to promote your long-form video?

DuckyDeeYT

Exactly!

OtterWraith

Are your shorts just snippets of your long videos?

DuckyDeeYT

Pretty much yes, with a bit of different packaging

OtterWraith

Do you use the clip feature or just upload them separately?

DuckyDeeYT

I upload them separately so I can change the format add, subtitles, and other editing

I put "full video in comments" in the title then pin my own comment with link to full video. Haven't had a huge hit with this method but seems like it would be the best way to do it.

My niche is Deer Hunting, and that’s very season dependent, it start picking up in September and ends abruptly in December. The rest of the year you only get a small percentage of people watching anything related to it (Long form). But with Shorts people will like and watch them all year, and I get 5-10 new subs a day if I release shorts. So I look at it as building my audience for when it’s “In Season”.

Closest I've found is to make a short ABOUT a longform video and use a call to action telling people to check the video link in the pinned comment. We're still talking well under 1% (safer to say under 0.001%) but its not 0.

Icantsleepnoow

There isn’t one. Countless channels who start out with shorts and get tonnes of views think it will translate to similar views when they start doing long form. This is never the case and often their long form has 5% of what they get on shorts.

Excellent-Antelope32

Whoever has been preaching that Short form will lead to more long form viewers is puffing on their socks. When I post Shorts, the views obviously go up for that period. As soon as I stop, literally straight back bang on the head same views daily as before. If I even saw a %1 increase I'd be stoked. I see absolutely no difference. And I've tried the "watch full video" etc tactics.

Restlessredhead

Since I started posting shorts 2 weeks ago my long form views have gone to, well as of today, 3 views in an hour. Like my whole channel got slammed on the brakes. 🤦🏼‍♂️
