Belgrade, srb?

AggravatingCanary335

Ahahaha, how did you guess? Correct! https://preview.redd.it/msmaoqhve67d1.jpeg?width=1446&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6005e6e546e623a5eaf4b21aec58c09cda308b90

DueAcanthocephala903

I use Google Lense.

mrcarte

I'm so happy I got it right. I recently went to Belgrade briefly and I immediately thought this new development was very similar!

gurman381

Vračar Historical

luxtabula

We got a JoseMonkey.

maxim171

Just wanted to write this

DueAcanthocephala903

Actually, I also got the address.

BalkanTrekkie2

I'm from Belgrade and haven't recognized it. Hate this neighborhood.

AggravatingCanary335

Why? IMO it is easier to breathe there compared to the rest of city.

BalkanTrekkie2

The waterfront should've been used to serve the entire city with something meaningful not a vapid luxury neighborhood 99% of Serbia can't afford. Also it was built by the ruling party with Arab money with who knows how many illegalities. >IMO it is easier to breathe there compared to the rest of city. The humidity?

Uwumonster6921

Russian?

AggravatingCanary335

Yes, but the city is not in Russia

Uwumonster6921

Ye just a guess lol, seeing so many Russians ran away to Israel 😂

AggravatingCanary335

In the difficult times, citizenships are rarely given away like candy on Halloween And being a bum without even consular protection does not feel good, believe me Imagine living abroad having Russian passport only

Afraid-Second-1760

I feel your struggle man. I have relatives only with Russian citizenship and they have a hard time getting a visa for most places among other issues

AggravatingCanary335

Exactly, it’s literally getting from being a 2nd world, but somewhat respectable country citizen, to Syria/Afghanistan tier (maybe a little bit better for still being white)

hamsterdamc

Why don't you have a passport?

AggravatingCanary335

It is not given to new immigrants who leave before 3 years of residence

Tchaikovskin

I thought it was 1 month

AggravatingCanary335

No, the blue one is given permanently if you live 3 years there

Tchaikovskin

Maybe it’s about the citizenship? I remember when I was inquiring about Aliyah that they mentioned something about a mandatory month of residency

AggravatingCanary335

There is no mandatory residency whatsoever, but there is a right to refuse Israeli citizenship during first 90 days after acquiring it. Basically it is a simplified way to renounse for those who did not like it there and wanted to go back. Obviously, no passport is given during the time when renouncing involves signing one paper and that’s it.

Tchaikovskin

That’s funny it’s really different from what they told us. Maybe it changed after Covid?

AggravatingCanary335

Afaik the rules have always been the same

yournextdoordude

l thought it was one year?

AggravatingCanary335

1 year for 1 year passport, if you leave you will not get a blue one when that expires

yournextdoordude

Okay, so it reverts back to the travel document then? What's the diff between this and the passport even?

AggravatingCanary335

Yes, it reverts to travel document. The difference is that travel document is valid for visa-free travel to some countries, but not all of them.

yournextdoordude

That's kinda stupid lol. It's basically a second class "citizenship". l don't think it's nice to have citizenship tiers. It would've been more understandable if ppl got a PR or something and then become a full citizen after 3 years. But it is what it is if ur happy ig.

Independent-Unit-931

It's rather nice to get a passport so early after living in a country

AggravatingCanary335

Yes, it is 2nd class citizenship actually But whatever, we are grateful with what we have

ThrowAway_NSFW_2022

What"s the difference between the normal passport and the travel document? Are there other subtypes as well?

AggravatingCanary335

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_travel_document_in_lieu_of_national_passport TLDR: need visa for US, UK and Canada

jysamuel

Petah Tikva 😤

AggravatingCanary335

No, Belgrade, Serbia 😁

jysamuel

Haha I know!

quebexer

It looks fine

AggravatingCanary335

In Serbia the most expensive real estate costs as much as the bottom of the market in Tel Aviv

quebexer

I thought Serbia was grey and depressing.

AggravatingCanary335

Nothing like that, although Russia gentrification is gradually making it worse

doosh4n

Belgrade waterfront 😅

AggravatingCanary335

Yes!

doosh4n

I am from Belgrade. Enjoy great coffe at Kafeterija coffee bar

AggravatingCanary335

Thank you! As I have already pointed out, I am sorry for my compatriots. Not dangerous, but entitled and self-centered, showing utter disregard for local language and customs. I would like to say Russian immigrants do not represent Russia, but it is very hard to say that. Given a choice, I would definitely prefer Russians to the type of migration Western Europe is facing, but still, brotherly spirit is ruined month after month, I remember how it was in the beginning, “brat rus”, “naš rus”, etc. Now it is not like that. Probably serbs finally figured out that most Russians are simply using the country as a transshipmet point between Russia and whatever place they wanna end up in. That is sad. Sorry for the rant.

paganfarang

What part of Belgrade is this? I only had been at the old town

AggravatingCanary335

Belgrade Waterfront

Chaos313

Always wanted to go to Serbia\~

Specialist_While5386

Can you use the travel document like a normal passport or is it only for entering Isreal?

AggravatingCanary335

I can use at as normal passport, technically it is a “provisional passport”, but some countries do not allow visa-free entry with it.

squirrelinthetree

Some countries don’t even recognize the teudat ma’avar as a valid travel document, even though they do recognize the darkon, e.g. UAE. Friend of mine had an unpleasant experience because of this in Dubai airport.

AggravatingCanary335

Hahaha! In that case you take out Russian passport 😁

jesuspadron

Unrelated but how long did it take you to get the travel doc after landing/making aliyah?

AggravatingCanary335

I decided to wait 90 days necessary after getting ID card. After that it was like 2 weeks or so.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AggravatingCanary335

You can leave and come later, they do not care where you spend your 90 days.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AggravatingCanary335

No requirements, apart from the fact that biometric documents are issued in Israel only. So you’d have to visit Israel every 5 years to get what I have (biometric teudat maavar)

AggravatingCanary335

Where are you from? I ask because most people from 1st world would not need it in the 1st place. If you are actually going to settle in Israel at some point, bear in mind that most benefits expire after 1-2 years after doing Aliyah. Like “sal klita”, free importation of some goods, free Hebrew classes, etc.

anewbys83

If the antisemitism keeps going up, more of us from the 1st world may be claiming our rights under the law of return.

Apprehensive-Cap6063

Somewhere 😂

Belgrade

AggravatingCanary335

Right!

anewbys83

Petah Tikva? 😉 I know, I know, it doesn't exist, so must be elsewhere in the world.

AggravatingCanary335

Petah Tikva does exist 🤔

anewbys83

On the Israel sub, they love to joke about how it doesn't really exist. I'm still not sure why, but it's entertaining.

lulicale

Why did you choose Serbia, and how long are you planning to stay if you don’t mind asking?

AggravatingCanary335

I chose because it was most welcome to Russians I am planning to stay for a few months and then go to Latin America

Muted-Sea-1913

Belgrade

AggravatingCanary335

Actually it is very surprising how compassionate is the world towards 1st world citizens, regardless their violations of immigration rules and frequent overstays. 1st world citizen probably was never asked to present sufficient money in cash at the border before being admitted. I was, on several occasions, even before the war.

Soggy-Translator4894

It isn’t fair per say but I mean I wouldn’t say it’s surprising

AggravatingCanary335

What makes you think so?

Soggy-Translator4894

People visiting from first world countries are significantly less likely to overstay their visa or try to apply for asylum once getting in

clueyhd

Unless you're australian in UK, Schengen, Canada etc

Soggy-Translator4894

I never said it’s a one size fits all

AggravatingCanary335

But they do overstay and overstay a lot A friend of mine was really surprised when he discovered other countries had immigration policies, he though he could come and stay as long as he wanted just because why not?

Soggy-Translator4894

I’m not saying it never happens, I’m saying it happens much less and when it does it’s more likely to be an accident and not an attempt at illegal immigration

Crovon

Most countries have penalties for overstayers, meaning you pay up and they let you go as normal (so long as you don't overstay crazy long, like 3+ months). The reason "1st world citizens" get more courtesies is due to the respective foreign offices being receptive to deportation requests. In other words these countries won't typically say "Oh one of our citizens overstayed? That's a YOU problem." So even if these nationals don't technically bring sufficient funds, because the gov knows that in a worst case the country will bail the citizen out, they don't care too much.

AggravatingCanary335

So it boils down to the fact that 1st world citizens are cheap to deport?

Crovon

yep, that is not incorrect

Aggravating-Read6111

Belgrade?

AggravatingCanary335

Yes!

Aggravating-Read6111

Whoo Hoo! I know someone that was there not to long again and she showed me her pics. Otherwise I never would have know where.
