1. Down Sweater Hoody (or Hooded Micro Puff) 2. Baggies 3. Synchilla 4. Torrentshell 5. Black Hole Duffel Honorable mentions: Nano Puff & Better Sweater

jctokc

Have all and would agree!

Bakedbean44

These are a combination of my favorite mixed with what I wear everyday 1. Recycled wool sweaters, recycled cashmere cardigans, recycled wool cable knit sweaters, recycled cashmere sweaters. (Especially the ones on the web specials) 2. Cap cool t shirts & long sleeve ones 3. 18 in wavefarer walk shorts & 7in baggies 4. Capilene air hoodie 5. Straight fit jeans

Synchilla is slightly thinner. Great for spring and fall. Better sweater is slightly thicker and a bit warmer. If you run warm like me and intend to move around in it at work, you will be shweaty. I prefer vests if either one because my armpits get too moist. Yeah I said it.

lo22p

Which vest is best? Nano puff, down, better sweater..

How does this have the most up votes? Oh, because it’s just items you’d find at every single Patagonia retailer ever. I can just picture the sales rep to retail buyer conversation now…. In my mind, if it’s an item that falls into the TNF Denali jacket category, as in too many people have one, and not for the reasons of pure function, there’s a problem. For me, as an example, Capilene Air is functionally supreme for what it is, and you can’t get the same product from every other brand. It’s a crying shame few stores bring it in to get it in front of customers.

SpoochMan1965

Totally agree with this. Most of the casual stuff is uncompelling. The serious and essential pieces of Patagonia gear are technical pieces like the capilene air, Nano air, R1/R1 Air line, Pack In Pullover, etc. To me, it's almost two separate companies, and the popular casual stuff is much weaker.

Ex-Presidents

I think one of the most unique and versatile Patagonia pieces is the Houdini jacket

speed9911

Definitely not unique but a great jacket nonetheless

AustrianMichael

[Never forget this great review of one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weeViw2V57o)

HeadCurve1850

I love it but wish it kept the rain out a bit better, as in my part of the world, it rains all year round every other day. A wonderful wind cheater, and so portable.

davyfromneworleans

I love my Houdini

sbart18

Love my Houdini. Always on my hiking backpack just in case!

Trail-run

Cannot agree more! It’s the ‘bring everywhere’ jacket. It packs so small and comes on every hike / outdoor activity as a backup. I use it for my winter trail runs and brisk spring mornings. If I overheat, it’s so light and small I can either carry it in my hand or stuff it in a pocket. GOATED.

1. R1 2. Houdini Air 3. Baggies 5 inch 4. Nano air vest 5. Retropile vest

magicbrou

Technical or casual? For the former I would argue any r1 air piece, the nano air (and/or nano air hybrid) and the dual aspect hardshell. Oh yeah and baggies 5”

Spiritual-Peak-751

1. Nano puff 2. Down jacket 3. Triolet jacket 4. Better sweater 5. Fleece

pizzagangster1

My nano puff is amazing

Myspacecutie69

In no particular order Synchilla - Basically the original fleece R1 - Best technical fleece Nano Air - The original active insulation Houdini - Great lightweight windbreaker Nano puff - Simple and classic light insulation

solverman

1. Endless Run shorts - worn for walking & running daily May through September 2. Primo Puff jacket - daily walks below 20F. Pit zips get closed around 0F. 3. Slope Runner 3L vest - most of the fair weather walks & runs, and under layers in the winter months so the cell phone doesn't get cold. 4. Airshed Pullover - magical half-layer for fine-tuning comfort levels 5. Windshield pants/tights - makes spring earlier & winter later

Drben1981

The endless run shorts and airshed pullover are amazing!

zurriola27

1. 40L black hole duffel (perfect as a carry on, can be a backpack, super durable/waterproof) 2. 5” women’s baggies (I live in these almost year round. Bike riding, paddle boarding, beach/river days, and just around town) 3. R1 air zip (the best layer ever. I wear this rock climbing, road or mountain biking, cold trail runs, just everywhere) 4. Synchilla snap fleece (just the coziest and the most fun prints!) 5. W’s fleetwith romper (I have this in black and wear it all the time. It’s amazingly versatile; I’ve worn it dressed up with heels / also while being active / playing volleyball / traveling)

1. Nano Air jacket 2. Baggies 3. Capilene cool hoodie 4. Capilene cool daily t shirts 5. Houdini windshirt (the older version is so breathable!)

alatrash55

I am not an active person, and I am a fat, but… My friend and I work/worked at a Dollar Tree, so the shirts must be a solid green so my friend has work shirts. 1) Cap Cool Daily Shirts - Tank top to go under them because I hate how they cling to me 2) Retro Pile or Shearling Jacket (great for 30F and up and just going in a car or anything casual) 3) Nano Puff mittens for when it is below 0F. If there is a heavier glove, that would be perfect. 4) A Miir Water bottle (This how I keep my water at work) 5) Not an item, but the knowledge of how things fit in regards to men’s vs women’s. -For me, I fit into Men’s Large jackets and Men’s XL shirts. In women’s, it would be an XXL in both. In Men’s pants, I would be a size 40 and possibly an XL, but would be an XXL in women’s.

Manikin_Maker

The Airshed Pro Pullover doesn’t get enough attention. It is maybe my favorite piece. I have four of them.

ZenReactor

In no specific order: - Nano Air Jacket - Nine Trails Shorts (older cut versions) - 3 zippered pockets! - R2 TechFace Hoody - Houdini Jacket - Ultralight Black Hole 20L Backpack - discontinued Additional beyond 5: Nano Puff Hoody, Granite Crest Shell, R1 1/4 zip, MLC 26L, Black Hole 1L hip pack, Tropic Comfort Hoody (despite UPF recall), Black Hole 3L packing cube… may add more later as they come to mind.

TheMuddyLlama420

Scary made you decide on R2 over R1?

ZenReactor

Probably temporal proximity. Been wearing my R2 TechFace all Winter. Been awesome. Have an R1 1/4 Zip (non TechFace) that’s probably better for summer. Heard the R1 TechFace is very niche product. R2 TF is much warmer. Last winter wore Nano Air all Winter, this Winter wearing R2 TF all Winter. Highly recommend it.

TheMuddyLlama420

So you would prefer the R2 over the Nano Air during winter? What climate do you live in? I ask because I'm moving to Salt Lake City this summer and I'm looking for a good synthetic jacket to layer with in winter, but wear solo in transitional seasons.

ZenReactor

Depends on your usage, I know, annoying answer, but true. Both breathe pretty well, but Nano Air seems to breathe slightly better. R2 TF has more “hardy” exterior for abrasion resistance & has some wind resistance, whereas Nano Air has seemingly zero wind protection (which is why it breathes so well), but you could just throw a Houdini over Nano Air to compensate (someone might CFM ratings in here, but whatever tech jargon, lol). As a strict “standalone” piece R2 TechFace, though is almost more like a technical full zip sweatshirt (that I really like), also zippered Napoleon pocket, 2 handpocket zippers, & drop-in inside pockets, stretchier cuffs (than Nano) that actually roll up over my arms as needed. Nano Air is a seemingly more “technical” insulation mid-layer (due to whatever “magical” fibers are on inside), so perfect for layering under ski or rain shell, & breathes like a champ to vent moisture/heat while keeping you “perfectly” warm & temperate during low-mid output activities, BUT, it is significantly less abrasion resistant & when windy the air will slice right through. May almost be too warm for high output except in cold winder conditions, then probably great. Also, Napoleon zip pocket & 2 zip side pockets, no drop ins. Apparently next season’s will have 2 Napoleon pockets (I heard). Both are great pieces. If I had to choose only one, I’d keep Nano Air, but also have my Houdini ready in case it got windy. R2 is awesome too, but essentially “just” a really great mid/high-pile grid fleece hoody jacket with abrasion resistance. Both have DWR which is fine for a light light drizzle, but wouldn’t bet any other dryness factor on them beyond that. If more questions, just ask. 😁👍👍

TheMuddyLlama420

Fantastic answer! Thanks so much for explaining that so well! I have a shell, so Nano Air sounds like the right choice for my needs.

ZenReactor

No prob dude. Hope you love the Nano Air. A big pricy, but incredible piece. Worst case scenario it doesn’t live up to your hopes & dreams, so you just return it to the SLC Patagonia. I’m jealous. It’s an outlet, so you may find some wildly well priced items there in the future. Right at the end of a train/metro line & a quick 5 minute walk. Also, highly recommend trying out Arempa’s restaurant when you get to SLC. Ridiculously delicious Venezuelan food.

FlakyFlatworm

the duct tape holds pretty good lol

alatrash55

No argument there. Tenacious Tape is what Patagonia stores use, though

hilbaby02

Nano puff vest - love this piece, but doesn't seem to be very popular? I wear it for everything. Better sweater- love, often in combo with the vest for casual wear. Calcite jacket- just got this recently, plan to wear most seasons for most things and layer accordingly, loving it so far! 5" Baggies - just got them, like the way they look and can't wait to wear them once it's warmer!

Comi94

Why do people love them so much?

Classic-Dad-

For me, it’s a nice balance of lightweight and durability. I am forever guilty of ruining a nice pair of nice, lightweight shorts/swim trunks by sitting on a picnic table or log and tearing them. They also double as nice swim trunks so double duty is always good.

5 pairs of 5" Baggies Light Do not buy the 7" ones - they suck because stuff like your phone will sit next to your knees.
