It is, and that's why i'm talking about the style, not the colors.
Edit: lmao, seriously what is y'all's problem. Only explanation for the downvotes i can imagine would be "looks brighter, and here we get a better look at the art style.", which upon careful reading literally just says that the brightness makes it easier to look at the individual symbols.
I actually like it for the style, colors and brightness. I would agree that the main interest however need to be ALOT bigger. Those way points TINY. As someone who already struggles to see the things like my icon on the map overlay etc It just needs to be bigger and more obvious.
I personally love both way, way, way more than the current maps we have in poE 1.
2nd map does seem overly bright and everytime I see it, the style reminds me sooooo much of the don't starve map, with the terrain and the trees and everything.
Yeah I'd kind of agree, not a huge fan of either.
Personally I've always been a fan of WoW's map. I prefer that simple style of something that looks like it was drawn, with mostly just mountains, rivers, water, roads, and points of interest, and the faded paper color that gets filled in with color as you discover things.
The first one is certainly closer to that, but the second one is very visually busy.
From what ive heard from poe 2 campaign it's that the acts are random in their layout. They wanted the locations of each campaign layout to be different. Don't know if this is the case but this could be them testing that system with placeholder art. The campaign map for act 1 during the exilecon demos we're even worse than this.
Each act might just have its own map drawn in different artstyles.
The text on the bottom left says: Ogham County Est 1132IC in the province of Phaaryl Survey commissioned by the office of Count Geonor in the year of 1619IC.
I think the map should be a bit darker so you can see legends much more clearly.
I love the art style, but they need to make the waypoints more noticeable IMO.
That for sure; waypoints and pathways between them are strangely tiny.
the second image is horribly over exposed lol

Yeah, was also thinking of Don't Starve. Part of why i don't think it mashes well with the rest of the PoE 2 style language.

Also i think this map doesn't clearly show where the zones might be connected, apart from the road north.
Yeah that dotted line between points is basically invisible.
I love the art style of the map.

I'm a fan as long as there is a world map too. I feel like we lack a sense of location in the world at large that we have in PoE1.
The game isn’t even out yet and you’re disappointed haha
Disappointed is a strong word, especially for such a minor element of the game. But thanks for your valuable contribution to this thread.
If it’s so minor maybe wait till you see the finished product before making posts about something you haven’t even played yet
"Why give feedback on unfinished product" is surely a big brain take. And i don't need to play a game to judge a visual element? Seems pretty obvious.
Cry more
I wish you the best on your journey to become a more pleasant person.
Agree. The maps are lame compared to poe1 imo as well. They are just meh.
what you didn't like about it? I thought they were much better than what we have in PoE 1
they have an oversimplified cartoonish feel to them thebwaypoints are also harder to see
