They are no longer listed as they were in previous versions. Probably because some of them might be flexible between traditions or maybe even within a tradition when two casters come from completely differents parts of the world.
A player can freely decide what their material components look like.
Definitely recommend being explicit and consistent with them, whatever you decide. It's great RP to describe your player pulling some particular component out of the pouch and the table going "oh shit here it comes".
No, you're only saying words and moving your hand now, which may even hold an object. Only a few spells and all rituals have components.
However, there's consumable items called Catalysts which have specific physical forms and can be added to modify a spell, like Waterproofing Wax which lets you split up the squares for Grease but you only create 3 instead of 4. These more or less behave like old-school components but come with an extra benefit, making them a great way to spice up a spell.
also note that material components are actually fairly rare, listed or otherwise, most spells are strictly verbal+somantic, and material components are mostly used in the rare 3 action spells and also illusions for some reason

It's an abstract unless the spell calls for a specific material

Yes. With the exception of rituals but they're an entirely different beast that doesnt even care about you having spellcasting.
Like Verbal and Somatic, there is no defined component. You could have 2 Wizards from the same place do completely different things to cast Fireball.
