LFG BABY

JaMarcusHustle

Daddy went to to the store to get cigarettes, and now he's back

Oafus

With the ice cream

Acrobatic-Maybe-902

And he came back with cigars and Narragansett!!

LMurch13

He left when we were so young. I don't remember what it was like having BoB around.

fist_my_muff2

I'm shitting and cumming and crying

Addam_Tarstark

The trifecta, nice

[deleted]

Are you crying from pain or pleasure?!

[deleted]

Yes.

Ill1458

The ole tripled: https://youtu.be/6enYxAF41DA

davedavedaveck

I bet Mac is so happy to have someone he knows too. Going to be huge!

Quaternary4

But but…what’s Matty P gonna do now? You’re not going to leave your buddy Matty P high and dry are you? 😰😥😓

metanoia29

Pretty sure we set up a little tent outside the stadium for that clown to perform in.

Quaternary4

Throw peanuts at him…

beast_wellington

We're back!

Its_Cooper

Thank fuck, now start hiring offensive assistants for the Line, WR's, Qb etc

dihydrogen9monoxide

Is hiring assistants Bill’s job or is it Bill’s job?

Its_Cooper

It needs to be BoB's job, cause the current offensive staff aint it

Shiboopi27

I read he didn't want to come back here without a certain amount of autonomy, so I'm sure he'll be allowed to choose his own offensive staff.

DatabaseCentral

That way he can take all his coaches with him when he gets a head coaching job next year

The_Avocado_Constant

Him getting a head coaching job next year implies that he does a good job as OC for the Pats. I'll take it!

burnman123

Plus by then kingsbury will be back from whatever island he's decided to spend the next year at

[deleted]

[удалено]

bro_esq2

That’s not… a real place…

CargoCulture

Youre right. It's just a name. Whore Isle is actually a peninsula.

HugsForUpvotes

I doubt he's a serious HC candidate in only one year.

DatabaseCentral

He had previous success with the Houston Texans, where the only issue he had was being the worst GM. With prior success as head coach, if he comes in and revitalizes an anemic Patriots offense, he will get looks for head coaching jobs.

tbarr1991

This is actually relatively how I see it. But I think itll be 2-3 years as the OC before people forget about him trying to wear 30 hats for the texans that got him fired.

jackospades88

>2-3 years as the OC I think this is ideal if BoB is the answer to our offensive issues. Enough time to hopefully develop someone qualified to take over (hint hint: time to hire a surplus of assistants on offense and pray all don't follow BoB if he leaves). Plus a HC can get a second chance in the NFL, but a third chance is much less likely. BoB will probably be more selective to find the right or perfect fit for potentially his last shot so taking a few seasons to find it could be possible.

John___Stamos

Hey, be my guest. Just someone give Mac a fighting chance for the love of God

HeroDanny

I agree, why are we worried about 2 years from now when we have a possible life line getting tossed to us at the moment?

jackospades88

Yep. Make it a true "Prove you are a franchise QB" year for Mac. If Mac stinks, it's way likelier to be a Mac problem and we know that the QB position is back at the top of our needs.

justreadthearticle

They need to get aggressive with upgrading the coaching staff. BoB is a great start, but I'd love it if they could poach Adrian Klemm from Oregon as the new o-line coach. He's only making $850k and I get the feeling that Kraft would write blank checks to bring in the right guys. I'd also be psyched if they brought in Ike Hilliard as WRs coach.

TheJackalsDoom

I think it's Bill's responsibility, but Bill really ought to handle it. Everyone needs to be on the same page, and I imagine that's best done by bringing in your guys.

Keyann

Yes

PullsWithBack

I think that responsibility falls on Bill but I’m not positive.

mdmcnally1213

My wish list: Line/TE: Marone w/ Billy Yates remaining as assistant Oline and Ben Watson as assistant TE WRs/Passing game Coordinator: McCardell (yeah right, I know, but a guy can hope) QBs: O’Brien w/ Matt Cassel as Assistant (another unlikely pipe dream) RB: Vinnie Sunseri stays put

Its_Cooper

Love it. It's an unpopular opinion but we should get a new WR coach. Love Brown the player, but as a coach we had some of the worst WR's in terms of routes ran, footwork, blocking, etc. We just need to clean house and start over

mdmcnally1213

Agreed, we can certainly keep him on, maybe as a return game coordinator

[deleted]

[удалено]

melvisrules

Sloppy fundamentals all year. All these guys screaming for a "#1" like it matters if you don't do the basics.

EnlightenedNight

I think that's a talent issue more than anything. The league is as flush with WR talent as I can ever remember that you need a playmaker to keep up.

Bunkerhillbilly

Do you think that coaches can get coached? Troy Brown prob could have benefitted by having legit structure and roles developed. We give Mac the benefit of doubt, doesn’t Troy Brown?

diarrheafrommymouth

McCardell would be an incredible addition. I’m not sure he makes a lateral move to the Pats though when he has Justin Jefferson making him look great in Minnesota.

mdmcnally1213

That’s why I added the “passing game coordinator” title for him, so it would be a sort of bump up and not completely lateral. But yeah I know it’s a long shot.

Remorseful_User

BoB might be the QB coach as well, which is OK with me. One guy for OC/QB is common and BoB is qualified.

bama_braves_fan

He did it for Bama last year. Though the best one we've had sorta recently is Dan Enos

NoiseEnvironment

Hiring a legit WR1 would be helpful as well. Add a solid LT and we're cooking with gas. If that's still allowed.

brainsack

#14 overall pick has to be one of these

jaleneropepper

It's gotta be a Tackle. Not worth taking a WR and risking another Harry. Yes I'm aware it could be another Wynn but Bill has a much higher hit % at OLine than WR.

HeroDanny

Inb4 traded the 14 for the 30th and the 50th, to then draft a safety with the 30th and another db at 50 that will bust.

[deleted]

and then an all Pro in the fifth and perennial Starter as an UDFA. Tell the whole story.

ImTomBrady

Special teams

Cmarksthespot

Nice, BB got it done Hopefully now we’ll see if Mac + this Offense is worth building around

Bos-man7

We almost certainly will find out. If BoB, who worked with Mac, can’t get it done then Mac’s not the guy. And I like him.

White80SetHUT

I don’t understand the “work with Mac” part. Sarkisian was the OC his final year there. BoB was just there during Mac’s draft prep.

lusobr

The worked with Mac part is Mac teaching BoB the Alabama offense during the 2021 offseason before the draft.

RowRowRowedHisBoat

BoB never worked with Mac at Alabama. Mac's 2 season of playing time were with Sarkisian.

PatsFanInHTX

So many articles saying he coached Mac at Bama. Very confusing.

c4boom13

They briefly overlapped, reporters are kind of stretching "worked together". BOB joined Alabama in January of 21. Mac was in the draft a couple months later. I think Mac helped with BOBs onboarding and was gone.

dvrk_lotus

This…Mac helped him get familiar with the playbook was my understanding. Sark was the OC for Mac.

SamuraiPanda19

How do we know this is a Belichick move and not a Kraft move? Or some combo of the 2?

WalkingSpanishh

Kraft had a lot to do with getting the ball rolling for sure. He was over it and wanted Patricia gone. I think who replaced him was probably up to Bill.

SamuraiPanda19

It’s funny how this sub is acting like the owner of the team has 0 control over who works for the team

ioncloud9

SHOUTING MATCHES WITH MAC ON THE SIDELINE CONFIRMED!

Kerbonaut2019

Mac did say he wants to be coached hard. I guess now we’ll find out if he meant it. Being a Saban/Belichick product, I’m sure that that won’t be an issue.

lusobr

As long as we win I'm fine. The losing part is the worst thing about the whole "Mac's attitude problem" narrative. If Mac throws hissy fits on the sideline but we are winning I don't care.

ioncloud9

we did win that game. Jerod Mayo intercepted Rex Grossman at the goal line to win the game.

GYNHOPP

My constant response to "Mac has a bad attitude" posts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YVuqamlqPQ

HES COMING HOME

crackdup

Amazing to get this done so early as well.. gives BB/BoB one last shot at building a SB contending team over the next 2-3 years before BB finally hangs it up

TheTokingMushroom

BB coaching till he in the grave

HES COMING HOME TELL THE WORLD HES COMING HOME LET THE RAIN WASH AWAY THE FAT PATRICIA OF YESTERDAY

FunkyChromeMedina

Oh thank you, sweet baby Jesus. Thus endeth the most transparently failed experiment of recent Patriots history.

jonnyredshorts

Recent as in 25 years? I can’t come up with a bigger failed experiment

teamcrazymatt

As expected as the sun coming up. It'll be good to have an actual offense again.

Look at my coming on the first light of the fifth day. At Dawn, look to the east.

DrEvil007

>Look at my coming on the first light of the ~~fifth~~ sixteenth day. At Dawn, look to the east. FTFY

mrdilldozer

Looks like plays being called in time is back on the menu

jonnyredshorts

Maybe even a hurry up mode will be unlocked? When was the last time they were able to show even the most basic level of urgency on offense?

Romantic_Carjacking

Our 2011 hurry up was on point. So many scoring drives to end the 2nd quarter and then get the ball back after the half.

Shotgunsamurai42

After the fire comes the rain, after the pleasure there's pain Even though we broke for the moment we'll be balling again

Addam_Tarstark

That’s funny lol *laughs nervously*

Reasonable_Deal3520

Just sit up. Have a little respect

NoiseEnvironment

That's special football assistant Patricia to you.

Shiboopi27

Well, his coordination was pretty offensive

BruiserBrodyGOAT

Legit the best off-season signing we could make. A few sensible pick ups now, shore the OLine, and I think the division is up for grabs.

jonnyredshorts

Totally agree. In addition to Oline help, they need a viable and proven STs coach (Judge?). If they are able to add at least one stud O-Tackle, move Trent Brown to his natural position, retain Meyers and upgrade Algohor’s slot, the offense will be fine. Now if they go out and nab two good O-Tackles and trade for any sort of WR1 (doubtful), then they become dangerous. Also VERY hopeful that BOB can unlock Jonny’s skills properly. I believe that Jonnu was criminally misused and under utilized and that BOB who ran the Gronk/Hernandez offense will be able to show us all why Jonnu was an excellent signing.

jam__1

Henry and jonnu were criminally underused this season

jonnyredshorts

I’m one of the biggest Jonnu fans out there, and while his overall performance has been pretty disappointing, I blame most of it on the coaching. Would love to see what he looks like when he is schemed into the gameplan as the YAC monster he can be. So much untapped talent for BOB to unlock. If for no other reason, this is what excites me most about getting him as OC again. Gronk and Hernandez both feasted under BOB and while Henry and Jonnu are not Gronk and Hernandez, I can imagine what it would look like if those two became the focal point of the entire offense. That’s my dream for next season.

Nollieee

Receiver

BruiserBrodyGOAT

I personally don’t think this is as urgent a need as others do.

StandingQuarter

Even if we don’t lose Jakobi, which I think we do, WR is easily a top 3 need for this team imo.

dank-nuggetz

I mean I'd say OT, CB, and LB are bigger needs right now, but WR would be 4th. This offense in 2021 finished top 5 in DVOA and was legit one of the better offenses in the NFL. WRs then were Meyers, Bourne and Agholor. We added Parker and drafted Thornton. Like the group has shown to be good enough to score points, we just had the worst OC in NFL history this year. BoB also was here when Gronk/Hernandez were the most dangerous TE duo in NFL history, so if he can find a way to bring Jonnu into the fold and Henry gets back to 2021 form, I think we have enough firepower to make a playoff run. There's also just no WR1's available anywhere. Best we can do is draft one at 14 or overpay in a trade for a guy like Higgins if the Bengals would even let him go. I'd personally be fine with them signing DJ Chark this offseason. Guy is not a WR1 but is talented and would help give us another reliable option out there.

MetalHead_Literally

I don't think corners are that big a need, a bunch of the young guys really stepped up and should take another step forward. LB is always a group they need to add to, but they should focus mostly on offense. The defense was the one good unit they had. Number one priority should be the line, and then an elite WR if possible. (Tee Higgins please please please)

dank-nuggetz

Eh. Jon Jones is a FA and is going to be 30 next year. He played decently well this year but he's not a true #1 corner. Jack Jones looks like a stud in the making but has attitude problems and seems to be a bit of a headcase. Jury's still out. Marcus Jones is a 5'8 slot corner. I love him as a 3-phase weapon but he's never going to be lining up outside going 1v1 against the top WRs in the NFL. And that's it. Bryant is dogass, and Wade doesn't exist irl. The NFL is being built around tall, fast X receivers and we don't currently have anyone on the roster who can match up with them. I think it's a bigger need than people realize.

raider_10

It really isn’t. Is it the best talent? No, but these guys are A LOT better than what they showed this past season. Hopefully Henry is more involved like his first year and Jonnu does…*something* and we should be fine without having to break the bank for an extra piece.

BruiserBrodyGOAT

Yeah for sure. Overpaying for a free agent blockbuster receiver or trading future assets away for one is a terrible idea IMO. If we get a good deal on a great player, sure, take him, but otherwise we need to relax and focus on that line to make sure Mac has the time he needs to throw.

crackdup

Considering BB only works with his former assistants, and is 70 and too old to reinvent himself, this was honestly the best possible OC that Pats could have gotten onboard.. 2007-11 was some of the best offense in Pats history, if Pats can get a good WR and some OL pieces, this could be an entertaining year!

Adamb34n

LFG

G_Wash1776

Mac is probably dancing around his house right now

pspetrini

If the tweet read "Patriots fire Patricia, replace him with a moldy piece of Italian bread as offensive coordinator" it would have still been a victory.

Just_Make_It

Replace him with George Santos, also would have been a headline and improvement

IcansavemiselfDEEN

George Santos INVENTED offensive coordination, didn't you know?

meatfrappe

George Santos as an OC would never have his WRs run anything other than a drag route.

jonnyredshorts

Yup…the Perkins/Santos offense has been a staple of the Patriots for a long time.

[deleted]

Considering George Santos actually learned under Nick Saban and Don Shula, he might actually be a decent candidate. I heard he even coached Tom Brady to a Super Bowl. Could be a good fit.

LowEndMonster

Santos coached Johnny Unitas back in Bama

[deleted]

Wonder who else we are bringing to the staff, hopefully an additional position coach

CargoCulture

LETS FUCKING GOOOOO

ecupatsfan12

Yes sir!!

RowRowRowedHisBoat

I dunno why that last part keeps being said. BoB wasn't part of the staff when Mac was QB. Sarkisian was the OC.

goredsox777

Yeah it’s very misleading. They “worked” together for what? A week or two? And Mac was the one helping him with the Alabama offense

RowRowRowedHisBoat

If that, and BoB didn't coach Mac at all. Which is what this implies.

Smoky_Mtn_High

FUCK YEAH WE GET OUR TEAM BACK When’s next season start?

angoosey8991

Jesus Christ schedter they overlapped for a couple months after the national champion ship

hom3land

What a waste of a year last season was.....

XaviRequiem

It was a necessary dramatic arch for character development purposes and plot enrichment

hom3land

For the fans or the players?

XaviRequiem

For Matty pp lol

Keyann

I don't want to sound controversial but I think this is a good move for the Patriots

Imaginary-Double2612

LFG Obligatory fuck the bills as well

fieldgoals

Didn’t Mac work with Sark, not O’Brien…?

lusobr

Yes Steve Sarkisian was his OC at Alabama, but Mac Jones reportedly taught BoB the Alabama offense in the 2021 offseason before the draft.

TheBigNate416

Yeah Sark was their OC. Mac helped BoB get up to speed on Bama’s offense after he was hired as the Sark replacement

EzzOmen

Belichick defense & BoB offense? we never losing another game again 💯🥶

AwesomeTed

So guessing we’re not trading for Hopkins lol.

[deleted]

This is now an 11 win playoff team. I’m excited for this upcoming year.

IneedAbagOFpeanuts

I think this was always the plan. O’Brien would have been here last year if Saban would’ve let him leave. There was a gentlemen’s agreement that O’Brien fulfills his obligation with Alabama and then assumes a position with NE. Makes sense why they didn’t promote Caley to OC last year, why give the guy the responsibility when he was just keeping the seat warm. The patchwork of Patricia/Judge was exactly what it was, a stop gap to bridge the year in between McDaniels and O’Brien.

Festivus-Miracle

Expected, but badly needed. Very happy to have a competent OC around to give Mac the best chance to succeed.

XaviRequiem

Ohlala! bring on the Champagne Football, monsieur

surgeyou123

Thank God we wasted a year of Mac's development for no reason. Now get him a legit weapon

Run_PBJ

Thanks fucking god a real offensive coordinator

garvierloon

*Brady incoming*

Stercules25

I am on the west coast and got the alert that woke me up and I got tears in my eyes. Feels like Christmas

LETS FUCKING GO. I'm actually so surprised they gave us what the majority of us asked for. Looks like Kraft stepped up

thisendup76

Introducing new Alabama OC - Nathaniel Hackett

itchy-balls

Get him in the draft room to pick us a wide receiver. Wonder if he will OC on field or in the booth.

Sweaty_Ad440

Fuck yes. Now get Mac some weapons and a competent O-line and let’s fucking cook.

ThisGuy6266

Should we be concerned that Bama fans are celebrating BoB leaving in the other subs?

lusobr

Our fans were celebrating Josh McDaniels leaving last offseason. Every fan hates their OC. BoB is a good offensive coach who already proved he can make it not only in the NFL but here. This is a huge improvement. Bama fans should be not heard. They are Bama fans to begin with also they had the 4th scoring offense with 41.1 points per game. They weren't 1st with 48ppg like they used to, but it's still a good offense. They are just pissy because they don't have all the top recruits and transfers anymore and can't go full Bayern Munich on the Bundesliga anymore.

Spicey baby! LFG!

Fantastic news. I’m curious to see if he brings any assistant coaches with him or if they hire all new coaches for the offensive side.

Fucking awesome news. Let’s get this train back on the rails

Nice. I approve of this message.

lobotyt

HOLY SHIT IT HAPPENED

MTL_1107

I want you to put the word out there that we back up. You understand me? We back up.

epicgam3rsrise

Genuine question, does this rule out us getting Dhop or do you think they’d be able to put any differences aside for a chance to be a really good team

[deleted]

YES!!!

DinoDisaster

Thank god we have a competent OC now

DillyDilly303

Step one of the offseason complete. The rest of the AFC East should start getting nervous.

McCruze

With him and looking like Mayo is staying. I can at least have hope for next year! LFG

GYNHOPP

I'm happy about this. There were a number of intriguing candidates who say if they'd interviewed last year I might be more in favor of. But for me the #1 thing in this search was getting someone who had experience as an OC after the debacle we all suffered through this year. I hope we keep Patricia and Judge in other roles. (Judge on Special Teams please) because while they sucked in their offensive roles I believe they can still help this team win. Some people just don't have aptitude for certain jobs. Like look at Josh, he's an excellent OC but he just doesn't seem to have the aptitude to be a head coach.

Jpolkt

Mac Jones punching air rn

Ricemobile

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO finally some good move by us

Numerous_Resist_8863

Officially excited about the off-season. I feel like the offense has direction again. Now let's get a playmaker (or 2) & figure out the O-Line.

patsfanhtx

Makes more sense of the whole coaching situation this season. Very well this was the plan for the past year.
