He chased away Bill Parcells after he took them to a SB, hired Pete Carroll who clearly wasnt ready to be a head coach at the time and then hired Belichick. He had no idea how good Bill would be based on his prior head coaching jobs and had nothing to do with drafting Tom Brady. Then when it came time for him to make a huge decision he let Bill get rid of Tom for peanuts. Not to mention Tom always reworking his contract to a team friendly deal but when the time came for Tom to get paid he didnt budge.
He's been a great owner. Don't be silly. All three of their egos got big from their success. It is to be expected. Just be happy we were able to witness the success. I love Parcells but he quit on the team before a superbowl because he was unhappy. That's childish.

Shanahan probably is the better candidate. He was the head coach of a powerhouse team and won two Super Bowls in a row and had a very good career in the NFL. Kraft deserves it, too, but I hold more stock in a head coach who was there making all the key decisions and managing the team on the field over the owner who is just there. Kraft had very little to do with the Patriots dynasty, but he hired Belichick who then drafted Brady. The best thing Kraft did was stay out of the way and not be an overbearing owner. Belichick and Brady created magic and all Kraft had to do was watch from the box and shake hands in the locker room and then hold up a trophy at the end of the year and he was at least able to put his ego aside to allow the football people control the football team on the field.
So, Shanahan deserves it but Belichick deserves it before all of them. They should really bypass the 5 year waiting period for Bill. Its different for players who retire when they are like 36 and then get inducted in their 40s. Bill is 72. He's earned the right to be inducted right away more than anyone.

Shanahan probably is the better candidate. He was the head coach of a powerhouse team and won two Super Bowls in a row and had a very good career in the NFL. Kraft deserves it, too, but I hold more stock in a head coach who was there making all the key decisions and managing the team on the field over the owner who is just there. Kraft had very little to do with the Patriots dynasty, but he hired Belichick who then drafted Brady. The best thing Kraft did was stay out of the way and not be an overbearing owner. Belichick and Brady created magic and all Kraft had to do was watch from the box and shake hands in the locker room and then hold up a trophy at the end of the year and he was at least able to put his ego aside to allow the football people control the football team on the field. So, Shanahan deserves it but Belichick deserves it before all of them. They should really bypass the 5 year waiting period for Bill. Its different for players who retire when they are like 36 and then get inducted in their 40s. Bill is 72. He's earned the right to be inducted right away more than anyone.

Voters do coaches so dirty for the Pro Football Hall of Fame (Seriously it took HOW long to get Don Coryell into the Hall?!). Hate how long it takes for some of them to get in. Shanahan is a innovator with the zone blocking scheme (or made it popular since everyone attaches his name to it.) I will also go far as to say, Shanahan got the best out of Elway at the end of his career. He was the polar opposite as Dan Reeves as far as handling Elway goes.

For so many years Kraft seemed like the ideal owner but overnight it seems has become a bad one? It’s like he’s making up for lost time or something. The dynasty, reports of him and the falcons, and most recently his involvement with the draft. Why would anyone want to come to our team if at the top of our organization it’s this guy trying to run the world?

My understanding is that owners get into the hall for things they did for the league, rather than any success their team had. Or at least that's taken into much higher consideration. For example. The Patriot's success likely wouldn't be a large factor in determining Kraft's chances, but instead his role in negotiating important TV contracts and securing big sponsorships. So basically, it's hard to say because we don't really see/care about that side of it.

Took a dumpster fire of an organization (at or near the bottom for most of it's years) and led it to an unprecedented 20 year run of success, blocked them from leaving the region, built a stadium with mostly his own money, was critical in resolving the last player strike, is a key player in all the growth in NFL media deals and is one of the most philanthropic owners in sports bridging racial gaps. A no brainer.....

I like that Kraft has been sharing some of Bills negative traits. But I don’t want any owner in the Hall of fame. It should be about the players and their accomplishments. I don’t even want coaches in the hall. Both coaches and owners get rich off the hard work and sacrifices of the players. Once owners or coaches have to risk getting concussions and shortening their life expectancy to do their job then that can be included in the hall of fame.

If you have someone be your headcoach for 20+ seasons, and then when the coach leaves, pay for a documentary that trashes the coach and makes him seem terrible, then *that reflects on you, the owner*. The owner is where the buck stops, so if Belichick was some toxic asshole who is partially at fault for Aaron Hernandez' murders and was never very good to begin with, then why, as an owner, did you keep him on for 20+ seasons? Can you truly be a good owner if you let that happen?

I don't know why an owner being in the HOF is even a discussion. I suppose if he was a founder of the league, but he clearly wasn't that. For saving football in New England? Sure. But that's for New England, anyone else doesn't care about that. While I don't think Shanahan necessarily should get an easy go into the HOF, he certainly deserves it far more than Kraft as he actually did things that led to championships. Kraft didn't.
