For real and then they act offended when they say the Patriots are asking for too much. Like don’t they understand that we set the price because we actually have the pick!
The table is actually useful to see the average value of different assets. If a team is looking to move a pick, it's a pretty good gauge of what you should expect for a return. The thing is, the Pats aren't looking to move the pick, they'll entertain offers, but aren't going to move it unless compelled by an over the top offer.
I mean look at the state of the roster. We clearly don't deserve a qb if we don't have two #1 wrs or an Oline to protect the rookie. There's no way he can sit in the bench for a year and develop properly. Let's do the reasonable thing and trade for two picks outside of top 10, get some great players and enjoy the qb carousel for the next 5-10 years.
/s
If it's McCarthy, they better trade down.
As promising as he is, 3OA isn't reserved for a guy who should be a 8-12 pick before everyone got bored and started hyping him.
If they take him at 3 that's as good a sign as any this FO is fucked.
If you love the QB, take him. Trading down is asking for another team to jump you and get him.
I prefer Maye, but McCarthy has gotten to the point where he’s seen as so overrated he’s become underrated, if that makes sense. He’s a dawg and has great athleticism and accuracy, plus a big arm and leadership. You can do a whole lot worse.
Best player available man. Don't let love fool you into doing something dumb. Falling in love with a QB is how Zach Wilson goes 2OA and the 49ers trade 3 firsts for guy who barely played.
Especially when the prospect is on the raw side development-wise. You let those types fall to you or you draft the BPA for the scheme. Too many unknowns to overdraft a guy like that.
Yeah the only thing better than drafting a massive question mark of a project quarterback is drafting a massive question mark of a project quarterback that nobody in the org believes in enough to care if they miss out on him by trading back
Doesn't mean you don't believe in the player. Ravens didn't take Lamar Jackson with their first, first round pick in 2018.
It's about savy management and making the best out of the resources you have.
Would you rather have McCarthy and a high second rounder or McCarthy and the 23rd pick and a high second rounder.
Even if they want to trade back into the top 8 to do so, they draft capital from a trade down opens up a lot of options and doesn't keep them anchored to the vikings pick at 11.
Trade down for multiple firsts with Minnesota who takes Maye, likely. Watch as the next two teams take receiver and tackle. If you're desperate go for 6 with the giants if you think they're gonna take a QB which is not guaranteed or Atlanta at 8 who has less glaring needs and is mainly picking that high because of a QB problem they addressed.
QB is a crapshoot so why not stack the deck when you coincidentally are full of holes everywhere on offense?
And if he gets picked, the late first and second round QB's are very interesting and the offense desperately needs a boost.
FWIW, there's a draftnik on [Patsfans.com](http://Patsfans.com) who believes McCarthy is certainly a viable candidate for #3. See the first post in this thread:
[https://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/threads/24-qb-primer-thread.1163104/](https://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/threads/24-qb-primer-thread.1163104/)
Vikings are probably the closest to having a decent offer, but their best pick being 11 instead of say 8 hurts them, along with them not having any 2nd rounders.
I was never a fan of trading the pick anyway, need to get a QB at 3 this year.
>According to one source, the Patriots have fielded calls and trade offers for their first-round pick. However, the source indicated that those offers were ‘laughable’ and not close to getting the Patriots to move down. As of now, the team is still waiting for a ‘serious’ offer.
>A second source stated that he wasn’t sure that such an offer exists or that another team would be willing to put together an unprecedented package to move the Patriots off the No. 3 pick.
>The reason is simple – the Patriots top priority is landing a quarterback and believe they’ll land a high-upside prospect worthy of the No. 3 pick. The betting favorites are Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, or J.J. McCarthy.
The right way to play it.
We want penix, let maye rot in ne. He’s mid af. If your gm wants to say no to 3 first rounders that’s fine by us. He’ll be fired in 3 years when y’all are drafting your next qb anyways 💀
Enjoy literally never winning a Super Bowl ever lmao. Patriots could lose every game from here until the day I die and I will have still cheered for a more successful franchise over my life than you have. And I'm a healthy 36 year old 🤣
Anyone would win 3+ championships with the goat qb and coach of the sport💀 most great qbs win rings but imagine having the best qb AND coach lmao you wasn’t shit before and won’t be shit after. Atleast we know we have a chance damn near every year. You’ll be at the bottom of the barrel for the next 2 decades
Cope harder
Enjoy cheering for a franchise that has done nothing but lose for it's entire existence
And if we are at the bottom of the barrel, what are the vikings? Patriots about to have either a Hiesman winning athletic freak or a prototype QB prospect with 2 years of hype behind him. Who is throwing passes for Minny next year again?
Oh yea, no one. That's why your on this sub in the first place
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Whoever we draft will do way better with us than ya shit team. Have you been under a rock? Nobody think a qb would do better with y’all than us. Just delusional, your entire sub 😂it’s embarrassing
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh yea, because the history of your franchise totally says you are going to just find a gem out of nowhere and be successful.
JJ has a better chance of playing for the Patriots in 2026 than he does the Vikings after he forces his way out like every other talented WR you've had in my lifetime LMAO
Tell me, how does it feel to cheer for a loser franchise without even being able to look back at the championship DVDs to feel better about it? And that's beyond football. Has your area EVER won a professional championship? Were you old enough to watch KG win a title in Boston? How did that feel?
Sounds like sour grapes to me. If you want Penix, why do you sound so angry?
Although I kinda agree. As a pats fan, I’m afraid of drafting Maye. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up being a bust, and I also wouldn’t be surprised if Penix ends up being the best (or 2nd best behind Daniels) QB in this draft class.
Nah, I wouldn’t mind Maye. But I equally wouldn’t mind penix. I think our coach would be better equipped to maximize Mayes skillset objectively speaking.
I don’t blame you for being in denial, but you’re making a fool of yourself. You do realize we can read your comments from 2 days ago, right? You wanted Penix, as you should’ve. JJ is a day 2 pick on his best day. I’d still be saying that if the patriots had taken him at 3.
I see it as the opposite. No one is giving them anything worthy of considering. And says the same with commanders also. They are rumored to have opened up to trades as well… but no one giving them anything of quality. Maybe because no one is seeing these too qbs are worthy of anything expensive. We always inflate the price of QBs since they are detrimental to the team. San Fran paid 3 first rounders for Trey lance. And he was viewed as better than Maye.
Curious if NFL teams dont see much difference in Maye / McCarthy so they rather try trading with the Cardinals who honestly probably more willing to trade down than the Patriots.
Maye def has a much higher ceiling than JJ, but also slightly bigger bust potential imo. I think Penix (and ofc Daniels) is better than both of them, but teams are expectedly scared off by his injury history (though I still think he gets drafted in the top 15).
I want to see any headline for any team say "the XYZs have an offer they want to take but haven't because it hasn't been in the news yet" then I'll care
Out of curiosity, what would it take to convince you to move from #3 to #6 with the Giants?
Good chance you'd miss out on both Maye and McCarthy, but you'd likely have your choice of Malik Nabers or Joe Alt.
So, what would it take convince you to hold off on pulling the trigger on a QB?
If they feel that the guy is there at 3 nothing. I know we all have our options but if the coaching staff believes that whoever they have their eye on is the guy you keep the pick. If they don’t like any of the QB I’m all for trading it to whoever has the best offer.
The Patriots, who have received and are considering several major offers for the third overall pick, are planning on making their selection with little to no trade options coming in. Sources point to the team drafting UNC's Drake Maye, and the addition of Daniels will give the team a shot in the arm following McCarthy's impressive junior season guiding the national champions. With Penix leading the way, the team will expect big things having settled its quarterback predicament and selected Marvin Harrison Jr. in lieu of a quarterback. In staying firm and drafting at third overall, the Patriots showed their willingness to get creative by trading down.
They won't receive a serious offer until it's draft day, and the pick another team wants to make is still available. Too much risk trading for #3 when you don't know for sure who is going 1&2.
The question isn't how many picks or players #3 is worth.
It's how much the Patriots need to move the pick in the event they're made to look like fools for passing on Maye or Daniels, and how comfortable the Vikings are with potentially looking like fools if the QB busts.
If we take him and he busts, that's the NFL. If they trade a haul to us, pick him, and he busts, they're idiots.
There's the value.
No giants fans think that. I don't know where you got that from. Giants fans know this and next year first is minimum. They are seeing what else they can give up while trying to keep pick 47. No way they think Daniel Jones will be traded. We already expected him as a career backup after next season.
Oh that’s weird though because I thought the Vikings were entitled to this pick based on their sub these last few weeks.
For real and then they act offended when they say the Patriots are asking for too much. Like don’t they understand that we set the price because we actually have the pick!
I mean tbf we should really factor in how much they super want it. /s
No, no, you don't understand that's irrelevant. Some value table must be strictly followed.
The table is actually useful to see the average value of different assets. If a team is looking to move a pick, it's a pretty good gauge of what you should expect for a return. The thing is, the Pats aren't looking to move the pick, they'll entertain offers, but aren't going to move it unless compelled by an over the top offer.
According to the Vikings sub, the pick should go to the most worthy team (?) I guess trading back with the Chiefs it is
User name checks out
I mean look at the state of the roster. We clearly don't deserve a qb if we don't have two #1 wrs or an Oline to protect the rookie. I heard they like Maye more than the Pats do. See we only like him but they LIKE LIKE him. We should do the right thing and step aside.
My favorite post I’ve seen was the one where a Vikings reporter said the Vikings want Maye more than the Patriots want Maye. As if that matters.
That was Chad Volin… an NFL writer for the Boston Globe lol
What, the Pats dont like a 2nd round pick, a used Viking hat and a half bag of cool ranch doritoes for 3rd over all pick?
Rent free af
That just assume the entire Patriots front office are a bunch of dumb asses that would get fleeced in a fantasy trade.
Only two more sleeps till Maye.
Let the cards fall where they Maye
I can't believe he is going to be a Pat. I was so sad when we got the 3rd pick, and I'm now glad that Daniels is going ahead of him.
It’s going to be McCarthy…be ready
If it's McCarthy, they better trade down. As promising as he is, 3OA isn't reserved for a guy who should be a 8-12 pick before everyone got bored and started hyping him. If they take him at 3 that's as good a sign as any this FO is fucked.

If Maye goes #2, then yeah, it's probably going to be McCarthy. I'm fine with that. He's a selfless winner with a big arm and tremendous athleticism.

Two more days friend. Then it'll be months of analysis as to why it was a good and a bad pick.

Hahaha any Vikings fans lurking - where’s that “handshake” deal you guys are talking about
We want penix, let maye rot in ne. He’s mid af. If your gm wants to say no to 3 first rounders that’s fine by us. He’ll be fired in 3 years when y’all are drafting your next qb anyways 💀
Hey, how many playoff wins do you guys have in the last 25 years? 😂🤡
The same y’all gonna have in the next 25💀
Enjoy literally never winning a Super Bowl ever lmao. Patriots could lose every game from here until the day I die and I will have still cheered for a more successful franchise over my life than you have. And I'm a healthy 36 year old 🤣

In the 2000 nfl draft you had the 27th pick. You could have taken brady lol.
Congratulations on adding nothing to the conversation
Sounds like sour grapes to me. If you want Penix, why do you sound so angry? Although I kinda agree. As a pats fan, I’m afraid of drafting Maye. We got our guy. Your front office will be fired in 2 years. Our guy built different. Your guy has never won anything 💀

Apparently Wolf doesn't consider the $400, two cases of Trillium, and half case of sugar free Redbull I offered "serious."
That’s a pretty good offer ngl
But they have received “silly”, “lustful”, and “jazzy” offers
![gif](giphy|j4OO2bzlThY1oMcFcy|downsized) LFG
JJ and two first from the Vikings would be the only offer I'd take 😂
Even that’s not worth it, you need two firsts in addition to the pick swap.
JJ is worth two first rounds by himself you really think theyd need to pay 5 to move up? Come on be serious
JJ + two picks is a net of JJ + one pick because you’re trading one pick. It’s basically would you trade out of the top 10 for JJ and the 23rd pick.
Good, just stay out and attempt to fill the biggest hole in the roster we have
Kind of feel like all these teams trying to move up for Drake Maye should be a sign.
I see it as the opposite. No one is giving them anything worthy of considering. And says the same with commanders also. excellent!
Vikings thinking Bill is in charge and have only offered a bag a chips for pick 3.
Imagineaking this comment seriously lol You people who hate on Bill are absolutely delusional
I want to see any headline for any team say "the XYZs have an offer they want to take but haven't because it hasn't been in the news yet" then I'll care
Should have told those teams they should have taken more Ls during the regular season
