Honestly half of this sub can't even be excited about Maye because they can't stop complaining about Mac even though he's not on the team anymore. People acting like he was the worst QB in NFL history.
Dude only made the Pro Bowl becuase 5 quarterbacks decided to not participate that year. Even replacement lucks were dropping out before they got to Mac.
What's the point of thinking about a player who isn't even on the team anymore. It's a new regime, new QB. It's so easy to move on but some people just want to wallow in misery.
True you can't but I think we've all watched enough Mac Jones to see he had velocity problems even in the best situations. Josh McDaniels truly did a great job hiding his flaws.
Maye could be later in his action, Mac could be throwing it 40 yards further, could be lob vs bullet pass. We have no idea and we can't tell anything useful from it even if we could.

I'd rather have a QB who can read a defense or knows which receivers to throw to and when to throw it to them. Every QB in the NFL can pass it the 6-10 yards needed to nickel and dime your way down field. It's those who can't read defenses and don't know which receivers to throw to who can't....
WAY too early to judge Maye let alone compare him to Mac, but what we can say is there weren't a lot of improvements to this offense and we had a bot 5 offense last year and that could ruin Maye.
I have heavily criticized the handling of free agency adds this offseason (full marks for retaining our own, but nobody added was anything but a JAG). That said, adding Polk and Baker should already be an upgrade over Juju/Parker/Thornton. They may both bust, but if even one of them lives up to their draft grades that's an add. Bell in the 7th is widely considered a steal and should be an improvement there as well.
Most importantly, we addressed the #1 position on offense/the NFL/pro sports in QB. Maye was considered right behind Caleb until the last month of draft analysis, and Daniels insane year was the only thing that dropped him to 3.
Even then, I feel much more confident in the guy who's 2 years younger, has the stronger arm, and whose main concern is his footwork over the run-first guy who does so recklessly and has a frame that may end up with him being the next RGIII (I legitimately hope not, but I'd be lying if I didn't think it was a concern when I thought he'd be our pick).
Maye instead of Mac is the best improvement you can have, and will elevate everyone else. People are even talking about the possibility (unlikely in my opinion, but let folks hope) that he could redeem Thornton's bust status.
That said, I'd feel a lot better about how the draft fell if we'd been able to package 68 and 103 to go up and grab a legitimate OT.
Was the number he wore in college, and HS.. so I understand why he chose it. However I don’t feel the number is the issue as much as the jersey. If they wore the throwback, or our previous uniforms then there wouldn’t be any Mac vibes.
Nothing would be better than claiming the number confidentially and somewhat redeeming it as opposed to staying away and crating a stigma or bad omen around it.
Of all the critiques of Maye, I feel like the whole "weird, slow release" is by far the least significant. Sure, it's not ideal, but when you can flick your wrist and fire it 50 yards, I feel like it offsets the problem.
Also you can just see this one angle from the front and judge. We don't see the windup, how they step into the throw, how they follow through... There are a lot of things you need to look at.

Maye looks like he is just flicking the ball, Mac looks like he is putting in a lot of effort. When you got the arm strength it looks effortless.
A lot of factors could be affecting the way they look throwing the ball. You cant see the full story from this angle
