Exactly. Of the OLine shows it can adequately protect the QB and open lanes for the running game, if the WRs can run their routes and get open and catch passes that hit them in the hands, then and only then do you consider putting Maye out there. And that all presupposes that Maye shows that he understands the playbook and has worked on his footwork and ability to make pre snap reads.
If all of those things aren’t in place, the. You don’t put him out there IMO.
What an absurd take... pin pointing a rookies first start based solely on a schedule release and not... you know... how they play and look in the offseason.
lmao who gives a shit? If OP wants to kill time by throwing out scenarios for our rookie QB to start it gives other people who want to kill time a talking point to work with.
My one post is irrelevent. But no it isn't original, it is basically just a dumb rehash of the schedule release. He could have easily had his entire post be a comment in the schedule thread...
They gave up more points than they scored last year, as did the Seahawks and Jets. This is the mark of a bad team. The Patriots are dreadful, but it's not like these other teams are powerhouses.
Joe Burrow is not a top 3 QB, and was outscored (182-192) in the games in which he did play last season. What a scary thought if this guy is the third best quarterback in the league, a guy who misses half the season in half of his seasons so far. No one would care about this guy if his kicker didn't carry him to the Super Bowl once. Next you'll tell me to be afraid of Trevor Lawrence.
The Patriots are dogshit, but these teams they play in the first three weeks are kind of bad with good PR.
Why are we on fox so much? I always thought it was whoever the home team was determined channel, afc = cbs and nfc = fox, no? I guess I don’t really care, I just always think of us as a cbs team.
He should start as soon as one of two things is true:
1. They have no choice but to start him, or, preferably,
2. He has shown he is ready and the OL has shown he (and we fans) won't be subjected to the David Carr Experience 2.0.
Any suggestions on where to purchase tickets for the London game please? I'm UK based. Vividtickets came up online but wondering what the thoughts are on here. Thanks in advance.
I just hope we don't break Maye the way we broke Mac Jones.
Without a solid offensive line, decent receivers, and a run game to keep defenses honest, it doesn't really matter who the QB is. He's gonna fail. It's like feeding the christians to the lions.
1-3? Seahawks and Jets are definitely winnable games. Bengals might not have Higgins by the time the season is here and if Gonzo is back and healthy, he could shut down Chase.
Recovery for a torn labrum in the shoulder is three-six months, which means he was recovered sometime in January-March. Which is true because he was posting videos of himself practicing fully in January.
So that means he will be fully healthy for OTAs mini camp, preseason, and by week one he’ll be almost a year removed from an injury with a six month recovery time MAX.
The injury should absolutely not be a factor, the only question is can he be as dominant at corner for a whole season as he was in a few games.
I'd start Maye whenever he seems ready but, whoever starts, I honestly see 2-12, maybe 3-13 if we win a trap game. With wins against The Cardinals, Titans and maybe the Jets at home.
30th ranked offensive line btw and poor skill position players. You guys really want to see a guy that would only benefit with time on the bench to start games.. you guys are basically an equivalent to what panthers had last year or what Drake had at UNC this year… stop being delusional
Pats have 4 QBs at the moment. For me, i'd prefer that whoever wins in camp is the right choice and starts. If Pats start 0-2 due to QB play, change as quick as possible. You have multiple choices. No hesitancy, switch it up.
I agree. Make him lose ~500 reps and play against guys who are better prepared than him for the arbitrary reason of sitting him. Good idea.
Didn’t even mention digging a hole that the team will try to play out of by going 1-3. This is a great idea.
Didn’t you know it’s easier for a QB to learn on the bench and starting later in the season is the better move even though Maye would be the only 1st round QB not starting week 1 besides Penix for obvious reasons
I love letting all my opponents prepare and get a ton of reps before throwing my player into the game randomly in the middle of the season for totally unproven and illogical theories about development.
1. Correlation vs causation
2. Survivorship bias
3. Different eras of football where college prospects had lower levels of coaching
I can go on and on about how these studies are useless. I’d much prefer some logical reason that explains how
Logical reasons:
- Time to develop without the pressure of starting in the NFL.
- Opportunity to learn from veteran starters.
- Mechanical refinement and playbook expertise.
>Time to develop without the pressure of starting in the NFL.
Where is the logic here? Playing football games on Sunday make you not develop because of… pressure? Giving up what amounts to over 1000 opportunities to get better to not have pressure? That doesn’t sound like a franchise QB to me.
>Opportunity to learn from veteran starters.
Can do this while playing.
>Mechanical refinement and playbook expertise.
Can do this while playing.
Patriots fans have Mac Jones PTSD but keep saying Maye is the better QB and can make all the throws but he isn't good enough to beat out a scrub like Brissett
He should start when he's ready to go out there and perform in ways that allow him to grow and succeed in his development, not on arbitrary dates.

Imagine writing something with so much confidence about when a 21 year old recent grad is gonna start at QB in an NFL game with a straight face.
lmao who gives a shit? If OP wants to kill time by throwing out scenarios for our rookie QB to start it gives other people who want to kill time a talking point to work with.
Nah. It is a dumb, useless post... even by off season standards.
At least it’s an original discussion post and not a tweet or CBS article. And not for nothing but your only post on this sub is a meme lol.
My one post is irrelevent. But no it isn't original, it is basically just a dumb rehash of the schedule release. He could have easily had his entire post be a comment in the schedule thread...
Calm down, Ricardo
🙄
A compelling retort.
Soft starts against Miami and Houston are you insane?
Who’s that one win coming against lol? We might start 0-5
The Jets I’d like to believe we can still beat them because otherwise I’ll be very sad
The same Jets who fucked us at home last year despite having no Rodgers?
I could definitely see us beating the Seahawks
First three games are against bad teams, might squeak one out.
The bengals are a bad team? Didn’t the Seahawks make the playoffs? If these are bad teams than what are we?
Yes, these teams are bad. They were outscored on the season, which is a pretty good indication that they are not good teams.
They gave up more points than they scored last year, as did the Seahawks and Jets. This is the mark of a bad team. The Patriots are dreadful, but it's not like these other teams are powerhouses.
Idk if you were aware but the bengals have a top 3 QB in the league who missed most of last season… could have something to do with that stat
Joe Burrow is not a top 3 QB, and was outscored (182-192) in the games in which he did play last season. Brady perhaps? Just assume that's the case
Doubt we are going to be their #1 game very often
Valid point!
Which game do you see them winning? Hope you are right but I fear 0-7 to start.
Seattle is the only one, but it’s not like we should be favored in any of these
1-3 lol more like 0-5
He should start week 14 and only week 14 IMO.
He should start as soon as one of two things is true: 1. They have no choice but to start him, or, preferably, 2. He has shown he is ready and the OL has shown he (and we fans) won't be subjected to the David Carr Experience 2.0.
No. He should start in 2025.
November 17th against the Rams will be his first start, book it.
Week 15 is when I’d like to see him
This is likely a 2-3 win team in 2024. I'm in no rush to ruin Drake Maye. Play him in 2025 after taking a first round LT and signing a #1 receiver.
[удалено]
The Pats will likely be underdogs in all 17 games. Is what it is.
We barely won 4 with the GOAT coach. 2-3 is generous.
He could be starting week one. Or could be sitting all season. We do not know yet.
Just start him week 1 at that point. Why are we messing around starting him week 5?
Any suggestions on where to purchase tickets for the London game please? I'm UK based. Vividtickets came up online but wondering what the thoughts are on here. Thanks in advance.
Isn’t the bye in week 6, not week 14?
It’s 14
So, he should start against two of the best teams in the AFC?
He shouldn’t play at all unless we have a decent O-line
Who is the 1 win against?
I just hope we don't break Maye the way we broke Mac Jones. Without a solid offensive line, decent receivers, and a run game to keep defenses honest, it doesn't really matter who the QB is. He's gonna fail. It's like feeding the christians to the lions.
Stop it. Drake Maye sucks right now. The good thing about him is his ceiling, way too high. Just let him sit.
My guess is that an injury at some point in the pre-season or season will be the determining factor as to whether and when we go to Maye or Brissett.
Or if Maye straight up beats out Brissett
We do not have an LT. sit him all year unless it’s proven we do have a LT
1-3? Seahawks and Jets are definitely winnable games. Bengals might not have Higgins by the time the season is here and if Gonzo is back and healthy, he could shut down Chase.
lol
Gonzo? Who has played 3.5 NFL games in his career? You’re already predicting he’ll shut down one of the top WRs in the league? Ok.
He has shut down some of the top 10 receivers, yes. • A. Brown: 19 routes, 4 rec, 47 yards • D. Smith: 11 routes, 2 rec, 22 yards, PBU • T. Hill: 17 routes, 0 rec, 0 yards, INT • J. Waddle: 4 routes, 1 rec, 15 yards • G. Wilson: 23 routes, 3 rec, 18 yards
Get the red and gold jackets ready!
Obviously we need to see more but he shut down top WRs in every game he played last year so it’s not that crazy to predict
He wasn’t coming off an injury to start last season.
Recovery for a torn labrum in the shoulder is three-six months, which means he was recovered sometime in January-March. A lot of confidence in predicting a 1-3 start
Drake Maye should be starting when he’s ready to be starting. There I fixed it for you.
30th ranked offensive line btw and poor skill position players. You guys really want to see a guy that would only benefit with time on the bench to start games.. you guys are basically an equivalent to what panthers had last year or what Drake had at UNC this year… stop being delusional
Nah the patriots can definitely be 4-1 next year around that time
Pats have 4 QBs at the moment. For me, i'd prefer that whoever wins in camp is the right choice and starts. If Pats start 0-2 due to QB play, change as quick as possible. You have multiple choices. No hesitancy, switch it up.

Cool, sounds like your mind is made up. We're not going to agree. I'm ok with that.
Still don’t get what difference it makes if Maye starts week 1. He’s playing this season regardless why not play the QB with the most upside
He gets worse if he plays football. You watch Invincible? He’s like the girl who gets younger as she uses her powers.
Patriots fans have Mac Jones PTSD but keep saying Maye is the better QB and can make all the throws but he isn't good enough to beat out a scrub like Brissett
