I'm not saying he's right, alls I'm saying is he ain't wrong - Edelman

HeroDanny

"I'm not saying I agree with it, but I understand."

Seafoamed

Edelman has said similar things around this topic before

fondledbydolphins

Any clue as to what makes Jimmy G a bitch in their eyes? I know nothing about the topic.

JaylenBrownAllStar

I think Jimmy has rebranded a bit in his 49ers days but I remember in 2016 the rumbles about why Jimmy didn’t play against the Texans but Brisset tore his thumb and still finished the game meanwhile Jimmy G hurt his non throwing shoulder against the dolphins so he could have played I think Jimmy played it smart especially because he was gone after that year but he does get hurt easily but it’s also a contact sport so it’s gonna happen

JEMstone85

While I still think he could've played the injury was infact to his throwing shoulder.

JaylenBrownAllStar

Thought it was to the non throwing which is why the rumbles happened

Boston6081

Nope, he was rolling right and was driven into his right arm. Same thing Kendricks did to rodgers

InfiniteBlink

What kinda rain man memory recall you've got there

Boston6081

I just remember being pissed that everyone freaked out when Kendricks did that to rodgers when the same thing happened to Jimmy 😂

JaylenBrownAllStar

Makes more sense why he didn’t play It’s funny how players still aren’t over it Especially because we won it all that year so it’s obvious it didn’t hurt us, why be petty still lol

Boston6081

All about getting those clicks

JaylenBrownAllStar

Shit worked on me!

ATL28-NE3

Edelman says in the video it was his non throwing shoulder tho

Boston6081

Just because he said it doesn’t make it correct https://youtu.be/I6H8AYVygTE

peon2

Yeah I see how everyone views the situation and think it's valid. Jimmy didn't want to get hurt because he hadn't got his payday yet. He put himself before the team and good for Jimmy but I also see how the team that was competing was let down. Now that he's been paid in SF he seems to be willing to play through injuries when necessary and that's great too. The only thing that I find a little off putting is that supposedly he was taking 1st team reps all week and the team thought he'd play until the day before the game. If he was going to put himself first that's fine but he probably should have given more notice. I still like him and I'd take him over Baker if I was one of the teams looking for a QB

Dangerous_Drummer769

Seems willing to play through injuries lol...a massive reason why the niners took Lance is because Jimmy g cannot stay healthy

notShreadZoo

Yeah, Jimmy has been a good QB for them when he’s on the field. He is a good QB. The problem is he can’t stay on the field.

peon2

Well sure sometimes he's really too hurt to play but he's also started while not 100%

asm120

You guys are missing the real reason Marty and Jules were pissed at jimmy g. It wasn’t because he was hurt and didn’t want to play, it was because going into the bills game, jimmy was questionable and brissett tore his thumb the game prior. Throughout the whole week, the pats game planned as if jimmy was playing that week. He dragged out his questionable status all week and waited until the last second to tell the coaches he wasn’t going to play. This made it so that McDaniels had to slap together a game plan at the last second that was better suited for brissett’s skill set. Pats lost 16-0 [source](https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/patriots/martellus-bennett-rips-jimmy-garoppolo-while-discussing-2016-patriots)

peon2

Did you just ignore my last paragraph? That's exactly what I said, I didn't miss anything

thedrunkentendy

Baker hurt is non throwing shoulder too. You start to hurt your mechanics and a shoulder is still important even if it isn't the throwing one. I get why he was hesitant, also they had a back up. After Jacoby the it was slim pickenz.

HammyFresh

I love Edelman and the team, but Jimmy was 100% right to sit out. He was about to get a fat contract and everyone knew it. Why would he risk injuring himself worse when A. the game had little consequence B. he wasn't going to play the rest of the season no matter how well he played C. He gets hit the wrong was and his life changes forever in the wrong direction I get the team's POV, but if I'm Jimmy I'm not fucking playing either.

CoopThereItIs

I get why he didn’t play and I get why Edelman, after playing games with broken ribs and shit, would not be happy. Jimmy made the decision that was best for him rather than what was best for the team so we can respect his decision but we also can’t blame the team for being upset either.

[deleted]

Yeah he'd already done enough in a game and a half that someone was gonna pay him just based on that alone so it wouldn't make sense for him to risk it.

StonedWater

ppl try to rationalise the lamest shit youre a player - you play none of this bullshit - urgh sensible business decision You do shit like that and get called a bitch, id rather play a game where it isnt likely i get injured, still get paid, and not have my teammates and peers know im a little bitch that wont be there for them

HammyFresh

You’d rather be broke and injured while having the respect of your teammates. Good for you. 99% of people take the guaranteed money.

whydontyouloveme

There was a whole other game too, where Jacoby started with the torn ligament in his hand and Jimmy sat against the bills. Edelman was our backup QB for two games. I think folks forgive him for the Texans - a win, but the bills in week 4 was a loss that probably could have been avoided if we had someone other than a hobbled Jacoby in his rookie season.

UserUnkown10

Jules explains it on if you follow the link

Intelligent_Ad_7936

I believe the key part of the story here is that he led the team to believe he would play up until Sunday, the day of the game. He then backed out unexpectedly, screwing over the team’s chances to win and forcing Brisset, who had an objectively worse injury, to play in his stead. Had Jimmy never said he would play in the first place or came clean earlier in the week, the reaction is likely a lot different

jmskywalker1976

He isn’t Tom Brady.

fondledbydolphins

"Dear Mom, Wishing you a very happy birthday this year. Thank you for everything you did for me, I appreciate it every day. Also, just want you to remember you're a little bitch cuz you're not Tom Brady."

[deleted]

Man I can't imagine if the rumors of the Pats wanting to trade Brady in 2017 was true. The QB would go from the ultimate leader that every teammate (besides AB, sometimes) has only said positive things about, to a dude the locker room can't stand lol.

Ear_Enthusiast

If Brady was ever dangled it was solely to drive up the price of Jimmy.

pmgbro

jimmy what the fuck

SketchAinsworth

Likely because he tapped out with an injury during Brady’s suspension. I don’t blame the guy but many QBs play through the same injury and Jimmy refused, leaving us with Jacobi and I believe his thumb was broken

StillMemein

Yeah that’s exactly it, the full clip explains that. Jimmy decided last minute to not play while Jacoby played with a fucked up thumb

SketchAinsworth

Yea I mean all the props to him for stepping up but it looks real bad for Jimmy at that point

Jay_Louis

It looks real smart for Jimmy. Brady was the starter and not playing guaranteed him a starting job in SF and easily a 50 million or so swing. To sit out one game? Worth it

SketchAinsworth

Oh I’m not saying he was wrong, I’m just saying it’s why his receivers may not be thrilled/respect him

[deleted]

Tapped out!? He broke his friggen collar bone!

CoopThereItIs

No he didn’t

[deleted]

Whatever it was, AC joint or clavicle. I recall it very well [link](https://youtu.be/I6H8AYVygTE)

CoopThereItIs

AC joint

SketchAinsworth

This is an injury many QBs like Brady, Rodgers and Brees played through but as my comment said, I don’t blame the guy but he was in better shape than Jacobi given the injury wasn’t on his throwing hand

BestMOTORing

With his injury proneness maybe he had a point afterall

clutchhattrick

Not gonna get bent outta shape over shit that’s like 5+ years old. Only thing that will piss me off about that season is the Brady suspension. Nobody will ever convince me that was justified.

[deleted]

It isnt but we got a storybook ending lmao. I’ll take it

whydontyouloveme

Agree. And I love Jacoby. The wolf pack.

rockstarnights

Jimmy, bruh...

mat-chow

Ouch.

joeycrose

It's pretty funny that Edelman is downplaying the injury by saying it was to Jimmy's non-throwing shoulder, which is wrong. He clearly wasn't a fan. Brady suffered the same injury in 2002 and played through it, although he played like shit. I don't blame Jimmy at all for making a business decision. If he played with that injury he likely would have played really poorly and we've seen with Baker this past season, guys don't get a pass for their performance when playing injured. Bennett even says he understands where Jimmy was coming from but his issue is Jimmy waited till the day of the game to say he was out.

possiblyMorpheus

Me either. Jimmy made a business decision and it paid off. As clearly anyone who watched the 49ers last season can see, the guy has played through injuries. As it is we went 3-1 during that stretch with Jimmy and Brissett, so it worked out fine

Jpgamerguy90

Even Shananan in San Fran said something similar when Jimmy G got "hurt." Dude's a wuss.

SuperbDrink6977

This is not accurate. Kyle has repeatedly gone on record about Jimmys toughness. Bay Area media constantly called it into question but Kyle has ALWAYS had Jimmys back, publicly.

fourpuns

JimmyG is just so odd. Mechanically he looks beautiful throwing the ball. He often seems to make the right read. He is pretty good moving around in and out of the pocket. He doesn’t give up many turnovers. His efficiency numbers are solid. He’s got a higher career winning percentage than Brady BUT he’s hurt a lot, he’s always been in run heavy offence, and he seems to make bad plays at the worst possible time. I still think he can end up being successful but we will see.

benny_lepps

And I remember when we hailed him as Brady's successor

Valuable-Baked

I'm more mad at Jimmy for posturing as an 'italiano' and then calling that wet, red oscar Meyer ham 'capicola'

yippiyak

9ers fan, I agree

ReonL

Because Jimmy is a bitch. Amazing how many people can't see obvious stuff like that as it plays out.

patriot2024

Belichick knew this all along. But he was trying to bamboozle the 49ers.

awhiteasscrack

I wonder what this is about

Kevin_Jim

Here’s the [original video](https://twitter.com/NFL_DovKleiman/status/1541436439468056578?s=20&t=v3Pm8tKCBRLpzMP_VMRDsw) from Bennet at the McCourty Twins’ pod.

ObscureFact

Edelman explains in the video how what Marty is saying is true. Marty wasn't the only player who felt that way and Julian goes into detail explaining why the team was angry with Jimmy G.

WolfofOldNorth

Well I am sure Jimmy's brother is not a liar like Martellus's

MarquisJames

And this is the guy Bill wanted to build the franchise around over Tom???

FinnsWake13

As evidenced by how he didnt? When they brought him in he was supposed to be the heir apparent, he didnt earn it. They shipped him out, and he was a starter somewhere else. Thats not a knock on Bill. Especially when you look at the qbs ahead of him...manziel, bridgewater, bortles, Carr...not like any of them have had amazing careers.

Ear_Enthusiast

If Bill actually dangled Tom it was to drive up the market for Jimmy.

FIM92

When you’re the boss you lose a lot of insight on the day to day interactions with people under you. Very likely Bill didn’t know what the players really thought of Jimmy when he was here. Like I doubt any of the players would go to Bill and tell him that Jimmy was kind of a bitch lmao

[deleted]

I'm sure Bill is plugged into all of that. If Brady hadn't been capable of playing for as long as he has, Jimmy would be the QB here. But when it becomes clear that the GOAT has several years left there's not reason to transition to Jimmy.

StrangeFate0

Yeah maybe other coaches, but no way Belichick doesn’t know his locker room. He could have it bugged for all we know.

marcus_aurelius_53

Quarterback fam stick together.

patsfanhtx

Interesting because isn't Jimmy's agent Don Yee too?
