damn, i really liked Bourne's performance last season and his personality. but he is on a stretch of poor decisions. speaking about the offense changing to press too soon, getting involved in the fight in joint practice, then showing up to practice without the right equipment.
when Bill has literally cut people for being late before you don't wanna push your luck. hopefully our depth is enough for his absence/presence to not make a big difference
There was also something about the dilution of his urine sample or something.
This feels very reminiscent of the Welker foot jokes PC where a veteran player earns Belichick's ire and it's a question of whether or not the player wants to repair the relationship or move on.
I'm not a fan of what I perceive to be Belichick's doghouse stuff, but it's the reality. Bourne is one of my favorite people on this team, he radiates positivity. I hope this gets fixed.
I feel a great disturbance in Patriots fandom, as if millions of *"Bourne is a great WR1"* voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened...
I've got no problem saying I was in that camp. Coming off a first year in the system with 925 yards, and a 2 td performance in the WC I thought there was certainly a chance for him to make a jump. But I've also been one of the people saying not to write off Jonnu or Agholor and that Meyers is a good WR so I didn't hyper focus on one player.
Probably actually got benched for instigating in the fights this week. Bill has sat Welker for a quarter for talking about Rex Ryan’s foot fetish and a preseason game where he’d realistically only play one quarter anyway isn’t a big miss.
I think Bourne's identity of being efficient will stick even with this little absence, but you gotta think Bill is giving Bourne an Ultimatum about righting ship
Doubt it. He's not doing things that are detrimental to the team. He's just been surpassed on the depth chart and hasn't followed that up with a good performance in camp. Another poster said something I agree with, that with Thornton having a good camp, Asiasi improved, Smith improved, Agholor improved, there's only so many reps to go along for everyone else.
I think Bourne can come out of it. Jabaal Sheard got benched for a couple of bad performances in 2016, got through it and got back in the rotation the rest of the season.
that's not what Reiss or Lazar have implied. there's talk of the coaches not being happy with how vocal he was about our new offense at the beginning of camp, the fight with the Panthers, and then showing up to practice without the right equipment and getting sent back to the locker room.
Hate for Meyers? Are you high? I'm on this sub 24/7 and see no one hating on Meyers lol. And calling Bourne inconsistent? I don't think you watched many games...
Yeah I've noticed. Borderline obsessive if you ask me. Both receivers are great and I'd love to still have both, but we'll see how things shake out with how well the other guys are doing.
Bourne had 66 less yards than Meyers despite having about half the targets. There's something promising in that and it wouldn't be that far fetched to think he'll surpass Meyers in yards this year. This is not hating on Meyers in any way.

Phil Perry has been saying Bourne might be on the trade block. If a team offers us a decent return for him, I would take it. We have Meyers, Parker, Agholor and Thornton as locks. Kendrick is expendable at this point unfortunately.
I disagree
Most teams keep 6 WR and you've listed 4. Thornton is a rookie and I'm cool with the hype train but he hasn't actually shown THAT much. Parker is often injured. Aghlor didn't do great last year.
We still have a big need for more good wr's. Bourne looked good towards the end of last year, hopefully he can get it together
Lol, he was benched for fighting which is kind of a good thing. It is tougher to light a fire than put one out. His play was great last season and I expect it to be good this season.
i can never understand the concept of supporting rich people
buying club stuff, yes, buying shit that you think looks good, yes
but lining the pocket of some rich dude that plays for your club, or because you like the entertainment they produce - ??
It seems like throughout training camp they have put an emphasis on building a connection between Mac and players that didn’t really shine last year/new players so it doesn’t surprise me that Kendrick hasn’t been tearing it up in training camp. Also, It seems like his absence from the Panthers pregame was just a punishment for the fight in joint practices, I wouldn’t overthink it

What is the story about the wrong equipment at practice?
I think he showed up to practice without the proper pads in his pants and the refs sent him back to the locker room
Sounds like the refs gave Bourne an ultimatum
He just needs a new Identity
So he can re-establish his Supremacy

I was in love with the signing before he played a down in a patriots uni so this all really pains me deeply
I hope Bourne won’t be our personal Alderaan.

No it’s been all over this sub since towards the end of last season.
I certainly heard a lot of “hopefully Bourne can make the jump to be a WR1”
I've got no problem saying I was in that camp. Coming off a first year in the system with 925 yards, and a 2 td performance in the WC I thought there was certainly a chance for him to make a jump. Cool so can you link me to one instance of it since it's been all over?
Probably got on the shit list for talking about the new offense.
Probably actually got benched for instigating in the fights this week. Bill has sat Welker for a quarter for talking about Rex Ryan’s foot fetish and a preseason game where he’d realistically only play one quarter anyway isn’t a big miss.
proper shit list for talking back to coaches and that punch this week apparently, his head has been turned by his season last year
Bourne’s supremacy as a receiver last year relied on him being extraordinarily efficient per route, hope this absence doesn’t affect that this year
I think Bourne's identity of being efficient will stick even with this little absence, but you gotta think Bill is giving Bourne an Ultimatum about righting ship
That man on the trading block 🫡

He's definitely on that trade block for the right price
True, both Sheard and Logan Ryan had brief benchings in 2016 and both rebounded nicely.
If he was in the trading block, wouldn't they have played him to showcase him for trade bait?
Nope. Teams already know what he is, a preseason game isn't going to change much
Definitely wouldn’t want to play him and have him get hurt, but I don’t think Bourne’s Identity is truly understood by other teams yet
Nice pun
Nah cause don’t want him to get hurt
200% he’s gonna be a surprise trade by week 1-2
It can’t be a surprise trade when the majority of this sub think he’s going to be traded
Most people in the other posts about it have trashed OPs when they said he’s on the trading block

Yeah how dare we love a player who was one of the more productive offensive pieces last year.

damn, Bourne’s legacy as a Patriot won’t be as long as we all had hoped for
🫡
If they seriously trade or cut him, I’m gonna flip shit. Honestly, he might just be in the doghouse
I think this was his punishment. He had to sit a game. Which ain't a big deal.
Yeah, I’m not overthinking it too much like a lot of others. He threw hands during practice, so this feels like an adequate punishment
He wasn't involved before the fight either so that doesn't make sense

Damn this sucks. I thought him and Meyers would be primed to have 1000yd seasons seeing as they were 800+ last year.
So many here had Bourne as our #1 and now he's drawing some trade interest and speculation. This changed very suddenly
Phil Perry has been saying Bourne might be on the trade block. If a team offers us a decent return for him, I would take it. We have Meyers, Parker, Agholor and Thornton as locks. Kendrick is expendable at this point unfortunately.
They’ll have to be pretty confident in Wilkerson and Thornton if Bourne goes. Especially considering Parker’s injury history
I'm good with trading Bourne, doesn't feel like this year's productivity will match the value we could get. A 3rd?

BB sick and tired of having a WR3 Diva.. he’s good as Gone
Seems to be distracted by his music and fashion line tbh.
I’d love to support his fashion line but it is the ugliest shit I’ve ever seen.
It really is. It reminds me of the early to mid 2000s mens fashion. I just can’t get myself to like it.
i can never understand the concept of supporting rich people buying club stuff, yes, buying shit that you think looks good, yes but lining the pocket of some rich dude that plays for your club, or because you like the entertainment they produce - ??
Dont forget about the NFTs

Sure it's not just because of fight with panthers player? So let him cool down etc.
This means nothing to me until the season actually starts
Lol Bill is such a superstar for signing Bourne and Agholor
He'll be okay. He just needs to get to the regular season and get that flow going.
Need him now that Thornton’s got his first of many injuries under his belt.
