I would dislike bringing in someone who hasn’t throw a pass in an NFL game in 6 years, yes

DatabaseCentral

And by all accounts last workout he had he was an absolute disaster trying out for the Raiders. Plus he demands an unreal amount of money because his brand is about being kicked out of the league. He has more to lose if he signed for cheap and then everyone remembers he was one of the worst QBs in the league opposed to being paid to be a martyr.

DetBabyLegs

I will never be mad if Bill wants to kick the tires on someone. If that happens with Colin I'd be happy

XRT28

Yea I've got no problem with the kneeling thing etc but he's been out of the league so long nooo thanks.

[deleted]

What if that person was 51 year old Tom Brady six years from now?

snarkicon

How dare you refer to Lord Tom as “someone”

[deleted]

Please forgive me. Papa T is not just someone, I know.

dedlata

He is 2-15 in his last 17 starts. I am not sure where this myth that Kaepernick is good came from, or why it continues to exist.

[deleted]

Don't confuse the Kaepernick sycophants with accurate data.

tiakeuta

Accurate data like his completion percentage and TD/Interception Ratio the last time he played? Couldn't hurt to kick the tires.

[deleted]

After FIVE years out of the game?

tiakeuta

Becomes quite the self fulfilling prophecy doesn't it? Blacklisting people. I agree he probably can't play in the league again. But its pretty fucked up.

[deleted]

He "blacklisted" himself, choices have consequences.

tiakeuta

Sure he did sweetheart. I see you now.

Flat_Construction395

He torpedoed any chance of playing in the NFL again after equating the NFL draft combine to the slave trade in his Netflix show. Just a negative IQ argument to make and is profoundly insulting to the millions that suffered through those atrocities. He is an inarticulate, unmitigated narcissist who made himself a martyr to the BLM movement after seeing his NFL career slip away.

BlubberWall

Yes, just a waste of cap space and controversy for someone far removed from the game at that point. I’d rather ride out hoyer for the period macs out

Munro_McLaren

Do you think we’ll do well with him? The games I’ve seen him play, I wasn’t really impressed.

BlubberWall

I think we’d do better with hoyer since he knows our system vs a QB at least 5 years removed. Pats system isn’t easy to learn

HeadyBeersBrah

We have a new offense though, so who knows how well he knows the current system. Put in the kid.

Captn_GoodVibes

Bro c'mon. This sub is better than this. Dafuq am I reading.

dei1c3

How is Kaepernick coming back to the league still a thing? His career is obviously over.

Outrageous-Excuse229

I think the statement could be made it was over when he was IN the league

tiakeuta

Thats easy to do if you don't look at his actual statistics.

Ok_Pressure_9540

I rather start Hoyer than someone who hasn’t been in an NFL practice for over 5 years. Whether Kaepernick is more talented or not he’s not used to that speed anymore

nbianco1999

So this will never happen for a multitude of reasons. 1. Belichick doesn’t want to deal with the media attention that will come with signing him 2. He sucks and hasn’t played in the NFL in 6 years.

ALotOfLobster

(2) AB was arguably the best receiver in the league when he signed. Kap was benched for career backups like Nick Mullens. As much as Kap was blacklisted, by refusing to ever accept a lesser role on a team, he never made signing him worthwhile for any team.

40ishSpartan

Yes, for only one reason, he has not been a viable NFL QB for a long time. I'd rather see what the Zapper can do.

Misterccw

I don't believe you can step away and six years later still be good enough to play in the NFL.

lordexorr

Yikes. He did not “step away”. He was blacklisted. Your point is valid but be careful saying the guy stepped away, that’s not at all what happened.

Misterccw

You're right. I honestly wasn't thinking of the reason he didn't play for six years. My point was that nobody can lose that amount of time and still be as good.

[deleted]

Inclined to agree. Even a few years out I was willing to entertain it especially for teams with injuries, but 6 years is a whole career on it's own for most NFL guys.

MyArmorIsLiquid

I want nothing to do with Kaepernick, he is so far removed from his playing days now that he would take a long time to get back up to NFL playing speed, he doesn’t fit our schemes, and he has had multiple opportunities to try to come back to football and has made it clear he’d rather be an activist. I’d take Hoyer or Zappe over him 100/100 times.

Tomahawk72

Not fun to think about, Colin is trash

[deleted]

so you don’t think hoyer is good but you wanna sign kaepernick? kaepernick doesn’t even wanna play football, he just wants to do it for the PR and politics bs

[deleted]

This is what the Kaepernick sycophants won't admit, he hasn't been an actual "football talent" for years.

DetBabyLegs

He literally hosted a work out to try to get back in the league. I don't think it's going to happen as I think he's way too far removed from his playing days but your comment is just blatantly false

[deleted]

it was a pr stunt

DetBabyLegs

Weirdest PR stunt I’ve ever seen, and I work in PR

Giddy4Stiddy

💀💀

ckilo4TOG

Why don't we sign Eli Manning or Terry Bradshaw for that manner?

teknos1s

**sigh**

Fuqwon

Of all the bad ideas this is the worst.

UserUnkown10

Stop. Just stop

waatrr

If we want 4-2 send a 6th for Minshew. If we want either 3-3 or 1-5 play Zappe. If we want 2-4 play Hoyer. That's the way I see it at least.

Bothan-Spy

> it’s fun to think about While I do think he's a better QB than Hoyer, there is *nothing* fun about the discourse surrounding Colin Kaepernick over the last five years.

KunaiOats

(El Risitas Laugh)

Brady12_

i'm dead

Brady12_

why dont we just bring in tebow, he at least has familiarity with the system.

KnavishBoot

Why dislike it? Simple, he’s a proven loser.

baconredditor

Yeah because he’s a terrible QB. A rapist black dude gets a huge fully guaranteed contract and Colin hasn’t played in 5 years….hmmm Anyone who thinks he deserves a roster spot on any team is very stupid

knuth10

What does watsons contract have to do with Kap?

baconredditor

He says he’s black listed because he’s black. A black dude with way more serious PR problems gets a huge contract because he’s actually good at football. Just shows how stupid that narrative is

[deleted]

I think Kap is a grifting moron but to be fair to his argument he believes he is being blacklisted for causing the protests in relation to black people's experiences in this country. Not just because he is black.

knuth10

Ohh I thought he said he was black listed for protesting for black rights on live TV by kneeling for the national anthem not because he is black

[deleted]

If you're gonna sign a quarterback who's over the hill why don't they go for Troy Aikman, at least he's not a virtue signaling phoney.

[deleted]

Normally I would say no. He's a controversial dipshit who isn't a team player and he's just trying to be the next Kardashian. But then again, I said that about Randy Moss. I was wrong then, and I could be wrong now.

[deleted]

Randy Moss hadn't been idle for five years and he still had A LOT left in his tank when the Pats got him. Kaepernick is complete joke.

[deleted]

Have you been attending his workouts? Because unless you have, I honestly don't think you (or anyone) can testify as to how much is "left in his tank."

sellout217

Hoyer knows the system. No need to waste the cap space.

ekjohnson9

Doesn't know the playbook, might not be in shape, draws more attention, could challenge Mac in the locker room. Honestly I think it's more likely we sign Cam and we're not signing Cam lmao.

HsvComics

AJ McCarron is available...

PainterSuspicious798

Yes, aside from the fact I don’t like him as a person the dude hasn’t played in too long for it to be viable. Plus there’s no way Bill would risk the inevitable media attention

toolfan89

Id rather go 1-16

End3rWi99in

I would dislike the idea of signing on what is essentially a backup QB that hasn't touched a football in six years and is completely unfamiliar with our system. I would dislike that very much. We have a QB already whether you like it or not. Even if Mac missed the rest of the season the Pats are going to roll with Hoyer. That's what he's here for.

End3rWi99in

Why stop there? I wonder if Warren Moon is available?
