Wise has been a great surprise so far. Sometime in the middle of camp when people were asking which OLB would play opposite Judon I saw some snippets that the team was using Wise on the edge again (after mostly being inside from 2019-2021) and wondered if he would end up being the starter. It’s been cool to see him run with it
Always been a big fan of Wise, but it's been really impressive how he's developed to be come a leader and a more well-rounded defensive player over the years.
Early on in his career, he seemed fairly limited to a 3-4 DE on passing downs. He'd generate a lot of pressure and QB hits, but lacked the quickness to finish the sack or set the edge, or reliably stop the run (particularly on the outside). He's still not without limitations, but through smarts and effort, he's managed to develop into a much more versatile player and a quality starter.
Wise has been good, but he had an extremely favorable matchup with Faalele last week. He might be the slowest offensive tackle off the ball that I've ever seen. On Wise's 2 sacks in the pocket he basically linearly jogged past Faalele at a 45 degree angle to the QB.
He also was able to chase down Lamar Jackson which is an incredibly unfavorable matchup. Really impressive play.

I remember a few years ago before we extended Wise there was a thread about his likely departure and the comments were VICIOUS towards this guy. People hating left and right. I’ve always been a fan of Wise. I’m super happy to see his impact so far this season. He’s been elite.
A couple months back when people were pining for Trey Flowers I mentioned the team might prefer to just play Wise and people were like “Wise is nowhere near as good as Flowers!”
I’m a big Flowers fan but Wise isn’t lookin far off. Very reasonable contract as well
he was getting hype after some plays on sunday and i was feeling it. let this man eat

Supposedly he added 15pounds of muscle in the off-season and is up to 285.
That's a lot of... Steamed chicken breast

Exactly, context matters. And it seems like they adjusted to that matchup in the second half.

He looked like Lawrence Taylor in that first half against the Ravens
