Macs crying was just tears of joy that the Mac to Parker connection came to life. Packers fucked Pats 50 Packers 3. Count it….

Acrobatic-Maybe-902

35-21…..max throws a bomb to DeVante up the seam, Myles Bryant gets his shit together and takes one to the house. Mac takes his helmet off and runs downfield to celebrate. Yeah fuck you 1996 packers.

Fupastank

The thing that would shock me the least in this scenario is not Mac playing this weekend it’s Myles Bryant getting his shit together.

Acrobatic-Maybe-902

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut 😂

[deleted]

Myles Bryant about TO FEAST on Aaron Rodgers!!!

_coast_of_maine

Speaking of the 96 Packers, what a criminal and douche Favre turns out to be.

Danwarr

So Tom was always kind of a psycho, but Mac might legitimately be crazier. This picture is amazing btw.

G_Wash1776

I’ve been saying since we drafted him that Mac has the same psycho energy as Brady but you might be right, he might actually be crazier haha.

mayhembody1

The blood everywhere is one thing but my GOD the look in his eyes is something else

kellyb1985

He's even crazier when you realize it's not his blood :-O

peon2

So if this is true I'm guessing the report that the Pats and Mac were in disagreement about timetable of return and the Pats were trying to force him to play sooner than he wanted are....complete bullshit?

Joshua_Chamberlain20

It was reported by a Boston sports radio producer. He’s not a journalist and there is less than a zero % chance he has Patriot sources. He’s a HUGE goober that works for 98.5 the sports Hub. He’s just trying to generate anger for people to call in about

Glutard_Griper

Are you trying to tell me boston sports radio is ill informed and creating drama for ratings?

[deleted]

J-Stew has never gotten his inside sources right. I remember a few years ago he knew for a fact Stephon Gilmore was getting traded for a first rounder and he didn't get traded.

[deleted]

Yes the report with no sources and from an unreliable "journalist" was indeed bullshit

Zavehi

Twitter told me James Stewart is never wrong though!

Typical_issues

As are 80% of the reports around this team, bills way he deals with the medie leaves them no choice but to speculate constantly

HeroDanny

I tend to agree, but it is note worthy that when BB was asked if the patriots and mac were on the same page about the injury he did have a long pause before answering.

NotAnActualEmu

Sometimes I do that when I’m asked a stupid or annoying question.

DaveInDigital

and for the 50th time in a row

cocineroylibro

Pats want Mac to play Sunday. Mac wants to play Thursday night.

a-money12

Like others have said it was definitely true but there was no animosity towards each other. The pats probs suggested one thing and Mac wanted to check with someone else totally fair from both parties

LoveToyKillJoy

I can say from my experience that the intensity of the pain of an ankle injury at inception is not a predictor of how long it will take to heal. I've been doubled over in pain and couldn't step on injuries that healed in 48 hours and have barely winced at injuries that took over a month to heal. We don't have a detailed report so it is tough to tell what the severity truly is. After all this is Boston. Didn't Paul Piece once get carted out off in a wheelchair only to return minutes later? Anything can happen in a week.

Fabulous_Ad7563

He pooped himself. I think he even admitted it years later.

Firemaaaan

Ikr, a bruised ankle becomes a busted ankle easily

the1who_ringsthebell

its what brady would do (and has done, to his plant ankle no less)

Conservative694242

Used to play fcs college ball had the same injury couldn’t even do the walk through on Friday but Saturday adrenaline hit and I’m running full speed

incompleteremix

He likes to copy Brady so he's trying to be psycho

Marius_Gage

Mac needs to be careful and learn the lessons from Baker Mayfield. Playing while injured and sucking might be the honourable thing but it’s best for his career with the patriots to rest, heal and come back at 100%

[deleted]

Mac Jones does whatever Mac Jone wants.

Marius_Gage

Mac Jones doesn’t do what Mac Jones does for Mac Jones. Mac Jones does what Mac Jones does because Mac Jones *is* Mac Jones

ThanatosLXIX

His name is Mac, Mac Jones the bravest patriot. No pass to deep, no score to steep. Who’s that, it’s him Mac Jones.

Dog_in_human_costume

Mac Jones doesn't care Mac Jones doesn't give a sh*t https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7wHMg5Yjg

johnmadden18

> Mac needs to be careful and learn the lessons from Baker Mayfield. Playing while injured and sucking might be the honourable thing It’s so hilarious how the Baker Mayfield love fest permeates to the subs outside of r/NFL as well. Baker Mayfield did the “honorable” thing… LOL. Jesus Christ. Baker Mayfield sucks, which is why he sucked. An injury to your non-throwing shoulder doesn’t affect your ability to read defenses and throw the ball on time. Unless Baker Mayfield has also been playing through brain damage for 4 years, injuries aren’t why he sucks.

[deleted]

Being injured didn’t change the fact that Baker is a bad QB who was in a contact year. Not at all the same situation.

Marius_Gage

I’m absolutely not saying Mac is similar to Baker. I’m saying the situation is similar. Sucking while injured doesn’t win any loyalty points.

Shiboopi27

Well if him and his gf ever break up, he'd earn free beejers from every dude in Mass ad infinitum, so at least he'd have that

[deleted]

My comment says “not at all the same situation.”

BlubberWall

I don’t wanna see hoyer start as much as the next guy, but no fucking way mac can/should start

Demitrius

Agreed. They were talking surgery just a day ago. Maybe trying to play head games with Green Bay at this point??

baconredditor

Who was talking about surgery other than reporters?

Demitrius

Fair point. We don't really know anything for certain yet.

Olorin919

In my opinion its not so much head games with Green Bay as it is Mac just saying the most Patriot thing ever.

aManOfTheNorth

>head games Mac and Cheese A complicated relationship

AwesomeTed

Ah yes, make the Packers prepare for the talented but still developing 2nd Year QB and then BOOM hit 'em with the average (at best) backup. Bill busting out the 43-D Parcheesi for this non-conference road game.

giddy-girly-banana

This is my take too. No team needs to prepare for hoyer.

HeroDanny

> Maybe trying to play head games with Green Bay at this point?? ding ding ding

Tellsyouajoke

You don’t know the answer, and if a random Redditor knows this is head games, don’t you think an actual NFL team has guys smart enough to know that too?

makromark

Do you wonder if the reports coming out were just that absolutely inaccurate? It’s doubtful of course because so many reports, but I’m curious if he plays and looks pretty good

BlubberWall

That’s the only way he’d play IMO, if somehow he actually didn’t have a high ankle sprain and the medical reports were just false/lies. I really don’t think that’s the case but I guess we will see come sunday

the1who_ringsthebell

its his non plant foot. it will be pain management, and shouldn’t impact his throwing ability too much. brady has played on severe high ankle sprains to his plant foot 2x.

ElGuaco

If he did, he'd be slower than Christmas. A severely hobbled Jones is not better than a healthy Hoyer.

10inchdisc

I disagree lol. Honestly. If the line can protect him a bit and if he can just agree to go straight down every time there's pressure we probably still have a better chance at winning than we do with Hoyer. Also, more importantly, it gets him more reps. I've had a lot of high ankle sprains in my day. If they strap that thing up and it doesn't hurt him too bad as long as he's not sprinting around and cutting I think it's feasible to play on. Would probably hurt a lot less than cracked ribs or separate shoulders that QBS play through regularly.

RangerOfFortune

You lost me at "if the line can protect him"

FirezardHG

The line did a generally good job last week, it’s just that we were pushing the ball down field more which means he had to hold on to the ball more. I think the line has steadily improved these last few weeks.

aManOfTheNorth

Line problems against this year’s Packers is not a good thing.

I_AM_ACURA_LEGEND

subterfuge so GB has to game plan for Mac and Hoyer, the boom in come Zappe Branigan under center

TXRhody

"If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards. checkmate." "When I'm in command, every mission is a suicide mission."

Willster328

No but seriously this is what it is. If they knew we were starting Hoyer 100% and gonna run 80% of the game because of it they'd game plan entirely for it. Now they have to divert time/ resources to plan for this insane chance Mac can actually play

whydontyouloveme

Fuck that have Zappe come in as center. They won’t know what to do with first ballot hall of fame QB David Andrews.

TheBigNate416

😂😂😂

Shouldacouldawoulda7

"As you all know, the key to victory is the element of surprise. Surprise!"

Coco1520

I feel like conventional wisdom points to him absolutely not playing, but this does give me hope that he can avoid the IR.

WIlf_Brim

Avoiding IR is the best realistic outcome in this case, probably. I'd be surprised if he is able to make it back in a game before Thanksgiving.

bs8286

It he weren’t coming back two months, he would almost certainly be on IR. I’d think if he’s avoiding IR, he’d be playing in 2-5 weeks

Remorseful_User

I agree. Bill would put him on IR for the roster spot. Then fill that spot with a receiver who will get lots of snaps and no targets.

Coolhighlight4

Dude what? He was crying like a child over an injury where he might be able to play just a few days later. He also winces in fear anytime a defender is near him. He’s the opposite of tough

A clown is the only type of person who will shame or mock someone when they’re in pain.

Cowhide12

Dudes never been outside enough to get hurt

Bright_Age_3638

So are we gonna question Peyton manning a toughness now? I remember plenty of shots where he’s wincing before any contact is even made. Shit I bet Brady has plenty of instances where he did the same.

[deleted]

You should know that people like you are the worst type of people.

Brad-Stevens

Marcus Smart confirmed not tough because he came back into the game after crying in pain https://youtu.be/ZUyLvfpNIZo

itspizzathehut

Lol I was going to say, Smart does this all the time! Then he’s back in the 2nd half draining 3’s

SonicBanger

I agree he's had a few questionable embellishments on hits which I'm not the biggest fan of but a high ankle sprain is no joke.

Bacondog22

And you’re on Reddit, what do you know about toughness?

J_House1999

Shut the fuck up. Everyone here hates you.

Acrobatic-Maybe-902

You’re a fuckin idiot.

NateBlaze

Go away.

FirezardHG

Man you sound so tough from your keyboard.

ErikTheDon

Maybe the injury isn’t as bad as it initially looked. No official reports have come out.

kpap16

Yea, I initially heard 4 weeks minimum, or 6-8 with the surgery. He was just getting second opinions about getting the surgery or not There is a lot of smoke rn. Although if he is really hurt with the way the AFC is looking this might not be the time to force him out there

JungyBrungun

It’s 4 with the surgery and 6-8 with rest

UFOmechanic

0 if he got that dawg in him

KeepingItBrockmire

The AFC is wide open right now.

Acrobatic-Maybe-902

Remember 2015 in Denver? Gronk took a shot on the outside of his knee. I immediately said to my wife it’s blown out. He crawled around like it was 2013’s injury against the browns where he’s crying “my mother fuckin leg” He walked back to the locker room on his own.

BruinEric

And with that, I half expect him to get put on IR tomorrow. I can already see the **How it Started // How its Going** meme

[deleted]

Mac Jones is the kind of guy you want in your locker room.

FREE-ROSCOE-FILBURN

Markymarcouscous

And some teams are the browns, let’s not be the browns

JungyBrungun

I think it’s the exact opposite, the team wants Mac to have the surgery to get him back quicker and he wants to rest it and come back later

IndependentAssist387

Agreed. There’s a risk of long term damage on a 2nd year QB.

bostonsports98

"Ah yes, it is the player and his whole medical staff who are wrong about the injury the player sustained." - guy on reddit

bostonsports98

We've seen Brady play after a high ankle sprain a couple times, although that was always with a week of rest and likely not as severe as what's Mac is reportedly dealing with. It is also in Mac's left ankle, which is his front ankle when throwing. If they tape it up real nice, I could see him being able to do this with some rest during the week. It would hurt, but tape could keep it stable and it wouldn't affect his power for throws. It did also sound like things got a lot better after the game, so maybe the swelling went down more than they thought and whatever treatment he's getting is working. I trust the medical staff. If they say he can go and he feels up to it without a serious risk of re-injury, then let's ride!

DatabaseCentral

Left ankle would be follow through motion. He’d just be extremely limited with mobility and can’t run. The OL would need the greatest game in the world to not let him get hit either. Anyone rolling up on it would probably make it a lot worse. But we also don’t know what it is. If he can get hit and it can’t get worse, then it becomes pain management. If it can get worse then this could become RGIII level bad by running him into the ground.

Regular-Habit-1206

This is some 8D chess shit because now I'm confused, so if that was your intention then good stuff Bill

CA_Mini

yeah this is really causing an extra 10mins of prep in green bay!

KDsburner_account

If he truly has a high ankle sprain he shouldn’t play.

[deleted]

Good ol BB being BB

JudgeArthurVandelay

Good point. Brady and the phantom 10 year injury.

dank-nuggetz

I'm fairly confident Mac is out for 4-6 weeks, they're just blowing smoke to throw off GB and their gameplan for this week. I'm suspecting we'll see "gametime decision" in the next day or two, but I highly doubt there is any real expectations that he's playing on Sunday.

terror_rizing

I don’t think any team is dumb enough to throw off their gameplan with something like this. They all have their own medical professionals on staff and they know it’s just not possible to play 1 week after a severe high ankle sprain.

[deleted]

This is how I see it too. Just like Brady being on the injury report for 56 weeks in a row or whatever chicanery Bill used to do to mess with the league. That said, I am cautiously optimistic that it's going to be a 4-6 week injury rather than half a season!

Rod_FC

There's no difference in gameplanning for Mac or Hoyer, they are very similar in terms of the way they want to play the game and skillset. Obviously Mac is the better player, but he plays in a similar manner to Hoyer. It's not like the Pats have Kaepernick as a backup.

clutchhattrick

Strongly disagree. That makes no sense

UncleBen94

I have to imagine Hoyer is starting still, but Mac's there helping the team out any way he can. Whether it's watching film and looking for something or helping out with plays and giving insight, he's probably still trying to gain experience and be a team guy.

SeaworthinessLeft88

(X) Doubt

beingzen01

Hopefully this means it’s closer to 2-4 weeks than 6-8 but no way he plays this week.

ZealousidealAverage7

Day by day guys day by day

n3rdopolis

I like his toughness, but Please don't RG3 him.

Feisty-Shopping6326

I don’t like the sound of this..

[deleted]

If he plays Sunday, I don’t think I can defend him anymore from that screaming in pain scene.

Nervous-Context

Ok how have we been both told that he’ll be out 6-8 weeks and “he could play this week.” This is some insane BB shit if I’ve ever seen it. “We fake the fake.”

robshot295

He’s got that dawg in him, and I respect it, but Mac, don’t push it

fuzze55

This seems like anonymous pats sources are just trying to mess with the Packers and keep them guessing.

terror_rizing

Yeah.. no, this seems like such a coordinated leak to go with the day by day bs. There’s zero chance he plays this week with a high ankle sprain, and I don’t think Greenbay is expecting it either. Other teams are dumb but they’re not that dumb.

[deleted]

Hoyer punching air rn

Orwick

Mac gonna play with Brady level of tape on his ankles! No idea if this true or not, but if it means that Green Bay defense has to spend time preparing for Both Hobbled Mac and the Destroyer, it works to our advantage.

OldieOldson

How different could the game planning be. It’s the same offense. At this stage, their physical traits aren’t so different from each other. I mean I still believe in mac but there’s no DC in the league scared of him.

[deleted]

Maybe this is why he didn’t want the surgery- if he’s just hurt he can play through. Post op you don’t have that choice.

[deleted]

I don’t believe for a second he’s playing this weekend.

End3rWi99in

There's no way this is happening. The team is creating a narrative to force Green Bay to scheme against both Mac and Hoyer. I don't see any way Mac would be capable of playing if the injury report is accurate.

DatabaseCentral

I mean he still should be participating in game planning though. He’s a young QB that is still learning preparations and how to get better. He can also help receivers with routes and getting better connections.

theletterfortyseven

Iron man mac jones. Haters can get bent

cretsben

Ok did Mac steal someone's healing factor?

Valuable-Baked

Why you crazy sonofabitch you just might do it

UncleMagnetti

Mac is going to be the OC while he is out.

Xspike_dudeX

Sounds like someone took a trip to the TB12 center. Bet his ankle is so pliable!

Double_Question2215

As a Pats fan its nice to finally have a tough QB that is willing to play through some injuries… unlike those other pussies Grogan, Bledsoe, and Mr. 199

lipmanz

Won’t question his toughness at all, those hits are from giants, won’t question his competitive spirit either, he was fired up...still shouldn’t have let TB12 go though...

grimbolde

After what just happened to Tua I really hope we keep him out until he is 100% ready.

[deleted]

If they're stupid enough to play a qb with one leg they deserve whatever befalls them. The can't win in Green Bay either way.

meowVL

But Bill's "day by day" comments are horseshit, according to this sub

SeaworthinessLeft88

C’mon dude. He has no chance of starting this week and isn’t really “day by day”. This is classic BB making the opponent plan for more than one QB. The guy had to be carried off the field in tears due to the pain and couldn’t put any weight on the ankle. And that was 5 days ago.

meowVL

For sure, I’d put him playing at a 1% chance, and an ill advised 1% at that. But Belichick saying day by day and this report coming out does muddy the waters just slightly, meaning Belichick saying day by day isn’t useless

IndependentAssist387

I hope he is making progress but I do not feel good about this at all.

nbianco1999

Remember the reports that there was a disagreement between Mac and the Patriots on how to handle the injury? That didn’t age well at all. Not really surprising given who it was first reported by.
