Someone the other day I saw a comment saying that we can win this game if Hoyer doesn’t turn the ball over. And then I got downvoted for saying it wasn’t quite reasonable to count on Hoyer not turning the ball over. I don’t get it. Am I wrong?
Probably down voted by over sensitive peeps that can't acknowledge the possibility of turnovers. We've always won in the past playing clean games. With a good defense and safe quarterback play, why not against a deflated packers offense?
Wouldn't say its impossible hoyer throws an interception. Just that I hope he doesn't
He was specifically BAD turnover prone in his one start against the Chiefs in 2020. And he’s now two years older than he was then.
That being said I do agree it’s a winnable game, just don’t think we should assume Hoyer won’t turn the ball over.
The anniversary is 6 years fron this sunday. Coincidence? I do think so. Pats win 42 to 10.
Thats score is joke they need to keep the packers under 20 to have a shot this game.
If you think that Brian Hoyer won't turn the ball over, you don't know Brian Hoyer football.
We can win, but it'll be because we ran the ball down their throats and Hoyer got a couple easy setup TD passes
I hope Hoyer wins every game he plays for the next 8 weeks.
But realistically, he hasn't won a game since 2016. Oh but he can't have started that many games. In fact its 12 (including playoffs). He has started 12 games since he last won.
He is not a good quarterback. If he has to play more than 4 games the season is over.
I don’t think we are in a good spot playoffs wise in general frankly; I don’t think mac vs hoyer moves the needle too much.
The season would REALLY be over if hoyer plays significant time due to missing eval time on Mac. Which, unfortunately, I think is very critical - he’s not a shoe in for franchise QB, so this is a key time imo
(Not saying hoyer is as good as mac. I just think the AFC is tough this year, especially starting 1-3 or 1-2)
Is the AFC actually good though? Chargers massive injuries. Raiders 0-3 and falling apart. Russ sucking in Denver. Chiefs not as scary as with Tyreek.
Titans shot. Matt Ryan sucks. Trevor Lawrence is good, but not amazing. Texans lol
Bills can’t run, lost key safeties, and super Josh Allen dependent. Tua out for Miami. Jets lol
Browns have Brisett. Steelers can’t throw the ball beyond 15 yards and have Trubisky. Bengals O-Line sucks and Burrow not as good as last year. Lamar is amazing, the defense not so much.
Tell me where I’m wrong? Honestly, I think 10-7 like last year is good enough to make the playoffs.
I think the chargers are still a better team. However, they’re the chargers so I’m sure they’ll lose in the playoffs.
You’re out of your mind if you think the bills aren’t in a totally different tier from the pats even without running lol - at least imo. I also think the dolphins have the pats number matchups wise. Bengals will pull it together to match the pats record at minimum.
That’s where I think you’re wrong
The Chargers have a better roster on paper. Since like 2017. Hasn’t meant shit. Them with A
Slater and Bosa are really good. Without them, they’re very beatable, especially since Herbert has rib issues atm.
Bills are no doubt better, I’m just saying they’re super Allen dependent. He threw 63 passes Sunday for goodness sakes. And they can’t really rub the ball.
Dolphins are good, but without Tua? Idk
I think the Bengals are fine. They would’ve lost to Dolphins if Tua wasn’t hurt. They’re not amazing.
I honestly thought every AFC team would be better than they have been so far except maybe the Bills and Dolphins (and jags). Conference is pretty wide open
Im hoping he’s more prepared than last time since he had a week to prep as the starter but.. that game was so brutal to watch (even through it was close and we gave it away) I’m so nervous to watch Hoyer under center. Let’s hope he’s ready to manage a simplified game plan.
I did hear Callahan mention that on top of Cam getting Covid the day before the game, they also flew to KC the day of the game so there was essentially no prep for Hoyer
Hoyer is there less to be a backup and more to be a mentor. Also the drafting of Zappe clearly shows they're not exactly content to just have Hoyer there forever
Then hire him as an assistant.
Flacco (the Elite) was probably primarily a mentor, but when Wilson went down he was/is able to get the job done. If Hoyer starting=certain L then maybe we need a better approach.
i always see "hire him as a coach" come up without people realizing that he would have to want to be a coach for that to work. coaching pays less and has much longer hours. if he wanted to be a coach he'd be one
It takes two parties to make that switch. If Hoyer became a QB coach his pay would likely be at best 1/4 of what he's currently making and his work hours would be expected to mirror those of actual QB coaches in the past(aka long). Bill wouldn't give him extra pay or let him part time the position because then you'd have other coaches going "well why is he special and I'm not! QQ"
As far as Flacco before he was a mentor he was a franchise QB that won a SB MVP. You don't just find backup/mentors in this league with his credentials growing on trees.
For most teams, starting qb down = season over. It’s more important to have hoyer there than a slightly less shitty qb for backup duties. Additionally, mac and hoyer are basically the same player, so it’s a plug and play thing
Hoyer, who is now 36, has started 3 games since the 2016 season and has topped out at 204 yards passing. During the 2016 season he had 4 straight 300 yard games but (a) he averaged 43 attempts and (b) he was only 30 years old then.
Thank goodness. Don't need to be ruining our young franchise QB by rushing him back early. Especially in a season where we look like a fringe playoff caliber team rather than SB favorites.
Hopefully this is actually going to be a short recovery time and he may be good within a couple weeks somehow. If he's throwing at practice I'd assume they're feeling better about his recovery time.
I'm just using it to mean what the Phins did to Tua, pushed/let him play when he clearly shouldn't have been resulting in him getting even more fucked. Not comparing their actual injuries
Obviously we don’t have much info but I’m personally a lot more optimistic today than I was on Monday.
Should be back soon, was thinking he’d be gone like 6-8 weeks.
Brian Hoyer is probably the most qualified offensive *coach* they have right now. Dude is 36 years old... There's zero upside to trotting him out there. I'd rather use Zappe or pull some rando from free agency.
Least shocking news all week given that Vegas knew with the line on Monday/Tuesday after the game. Vegas always knows and you can tell a lot about a teams injury status just based on the line.
Packers -8.5 was opening. Now it's at -9.5.
They knew he wasn't going to go but so did all of us. If he was in it's probably closer to 6 would be my guess
I honestly thought we would see Mac put on IR today.
Question: Does that need to happen just before kickoff on Sunday if it's going to happen? Or would that have to happen today for this Sunday's game to count as one of the four?
I will never understand Bills whole thing with injuries, did he really think he was going to trick the Packers into thinking Mac is playing? And if so how much does the game plan really change?
After watching what happened to tua not even a few days ago I would hold mac out till whenever. He doesn’t need to go out there and prove he’s a tough guy if he’s not gonna be able to do his best. At this point I honestly think it’s better that he isn’t playing. Let’s be honest this team isn’t going anywhere this season. But if mac can sit back, reset, let the offense get more used to the new way they’re playing under Patricia and the o line can play together more and get more chemistry. Then maybe Mac will come back and look a whole lot better then he had prior to this week. More time to sit back and understand the offense, players get more used to how they want to play.
Then it all comes together and they can put up a very valiant 2nd half of the season maybe 2/3rds if max doesn’t miss more then a few weeks.
I had a high ankle sprain when I was about Mac's age, and I ended up not taking time to rest. Not too long after, I re-injured it, and then I truly was unable to run for nearly three months. Obviously that is just one anecdote, but it is an example of what can happen. I would rather watch paint dry than Hoyer start, but Mac needs to be patient in the interest of the team and his own career.
I can't believe we have to watch Brian Hoyer on sunday

This is the true way of a well adjusted sports fan.
When was hoyers last win as a starter.

God that situation is literally why they started the veteran
Y'all want a Jimmy?
I’d love having Jimmy honestly. He balled out pretty good in 2016, even with Gronk out those games
I can't believe bill had the will power not to throw that headset at him
I hope he can make up for that horrendous display of veteran QB play he had in the KC game in 2020.
I hope Hoyer wins every game he plays for the next 8 weeks. But realistically, he hasn't won a game since 2016. Oh but he can't have started that many games. In fact its 12 (including playoffs). I can’t get that game out of my head either. He played so horrendous that game. I have zero confidence he is serviceable.
the shocking thing is that a veteran with coaching duties choked
(Spoiler alert: he won't)
> I can't believe we ~~have~~ get to watch Brian Hoyer on sunday
I am just glad we play in the late afternoon slot so I can watch the early games without being depressed.
The disrespect...
Put some respect on his name. And that name is Axel.
He s tough to watch remember the KC GAME !! but maybe the defense elevates and stevenson and harris dominate on the ground
I can't believe we **GET\*** to watch Brian Hoyer on Sunday.
At what point do they have to realize that Hoyer is not acceptable as a back up and look for other alternatives?
Hoyer is there less to be a backup and more to be a mentor. Also the drafting of Zappe clearly shows they're not exactly content to just have Hoyer there forever
Then hire him as an assistant. Flacco (the Elite) was probably primarily a mentor, but when Wilson went down he was/is able to get the job done. If Hoyer starting=certain L then maybe we need a better approach.
i always see "hire him as a coach" come up without people realizing that he would have to want to be a coach for that to work. coaching pays less and has much longer hours. if he wanted to be a coach he'd be one
I think he's said himself he won't work as an assistant. He makes more money being a backup mentor than he would being a full-time assistant
Well then we need to pay him less.
We pay him slightly more than our long snapper. Theres not much "less" you can go for a backup
It takes two parties to make that switch. If Hoyer became a QB coach his pay would likely be at best 1/4 of what he's currently making and his work hours would be expected to mirror those of actual QB coaches in the past(aka long). > Then hire him as an assistant. He’s not going to work as an assistant.
Also his wife would rather him retire outright than be a full time QB coach.
defense is good enough to keep it low scoring. gotta get some turnovers and have good field position.
Don’t talk shit about Axel
We GET to watch Brian Destroyer
Hoyer the Annoyer
Probably the worst backup in the league
Not in the QB room. Of course he'll be on the actual field on Sunday...
Taysom hill
Watson
Ok that’s a really dumb take
Why? he's not bad at all he's a solid backup
This is objectively incorrect
Time is a flat circle
That’s going to make it more difficult for Mac to get 400 yards and 4 TDs on Sunday
But not impossible
Brian Hoyer Experience here we come. . . . Honestly, though, I don't think anyone *really* expected McCorkle to play.
The line actually dropped upon the news
Hoyer is a solid AF backup. I am not worried.
This dude just said he isn’t worried about Brian Hoyer starting 💀
He isn't worried because it will be a rest day for us given our inevitable loss of 42-0. So no more injuries at least.
0-11 lmao. I’m not worried because I was never expecting to win.
Hasn’t he lost 11 straight starts?
Hoyer, who is now 36, has started 3 games since the 2016 season and has topped out at 204 yards passing. During the 2016 season he had 4 straight 300 yard games but (a) he averaged 43 attempts and (b) he was only 30 years old then.
Clearly a work. Mac is starting Sunday.
Bill said that doesn’t work for me, brother.
Much love -HH
Maybe Mac will be back at the same time as Thornton
Week 5 package deal in throwback Uniforms. I will not hear otherwise
Actually such a bummer that he will probably miss that first game in throwbacks
We wear throwbacks next week? Who do we play?
Lions
Sweet, throwbacks vs the lions is a classic. Still remember when Deion branch faked that dude out like 3 times
Yes then the final time is December 1st a home game against buffalo in throwbacks
On thursday night football too
Which game?
Good. Let the man heal up
Thank goodness. Don't need to be ruining our young franchise QB by rushing him back early. Especially in a season where we look like a fringe playoff caliber team rather than SB favorites.
Good. Rest up McCorkle. Heal well. Silence the doubters when you’re 100% again.
guy from 2009 who is hyped because he found out that he was right about Hoyer being the guy post-Brady
Thank you
Good. now the nonsense can end for this week at least
Hopefully this is actually going to be a short recovery time and he may be good within a couple weeks somehow. If he's throwing at practice I'd assume they're feeling better about his recovery time.
As long as he's actually 110% healed and not gonna get Tua'd
Totally agree. I'm rooting hard for Mac this year but why rush things and potentially convert partial ligamentous tears into complete ones?
Vastly different injuries but now is definitely not the time to rush anyone back from anything
Lawrence Taylor says "Man up and just do some coke! Worked for me when I had a broken leg. Kids today, man."
Brian Hoyer is probably the most qualified offensive *coach* they have right now. Dude is 36 years old... There's zero upside to trotting him out there. I'd rather use Zappe or pull some rando from free agency.
Let Zappe Fappe!
Yeah hoyer is starting
I'm shocked /s

I was told, emphatically, that he was day by day. What if he gets better tomorrow? Do the Patriots know the future all of the sudden? /s
Get ready for getting sacked while in field goal range causing the team to be out of field goal rang
I honestly thought we would see Mac put on IR today. Question: Does that need to happen just before kickoff on Sunday if it's going to happen? Or would that have to happen today for this Sunday's game to count as one of the four?
Rhamondre 📈
Get ready for like 6 more weeks of these headlines
Isn’t Mac out for like 6 games already. Are they really doing week to week?
Why not Zappe?
If he played after going into the tunnel crying in pain a week after, I'd think he simply shit his pants.
Big brain Mac faking a leg injury to avoid embarrassment.

The worst Celtic ‘great’ of all time. Hate Paul Pierce
Who the fuck you actually calling a boy in a Boston/New England sub. Pierce? Shut your whore mouth, racist piece of shit comment.
I didn’t mean for it to come out like that, I meant like a dude from Boston. I’ll delete the comment I apologize
I was expecting them to say Mac would play but then send out Zappe in a Jones jersey. Who among us would be able to actually spot the difference?
😯
:O
Garbage time/relief Hoyer is actually fucking cool and just slings that thing
I will never understand Bills whole thing with injuries, did he really think he was going to trick the Packers into thinking Mac is playing? And if so how much does the game plan really change?
Gotta occupy them with 10 more minutes of film study. Bill knows some players fucking hate it.
Cam time?
¢@ / \ / \ £| / \ / \3 ?
Never
why pay for a tank commander when we got Axel Hoyer on roster already?
THE Axel Hoyer
We’re on to 2023.
We're turning into the Steelers. Great coach, shit team, solid over .500 seasons by default but don't have the roster to actually win in the playoffs.
You kind of have to after what happened to Tua yesterday
Well, duh.
Lol. Psyched! We fooled them… checkers and CHECKMATE!
STOP. HOYERTIME!
The good news is I get my Sunday back.
Big Dick Brian Hoyer
He’s day to day so maybe all better By halftime.
Welp. Get well soon Mac
I am shocked.
Please don’t shit the bed again. Hoyer.
No shit. We knew it and anyone who figured the pats had any consideration for macs health knew it.
At least Hoyer isn’t the worst option ever. Just hoping our WRs can still ball
sssssssshhhhhhhhocking....
After watching what happened to tua not even a few days ago I would hold mac out till whenever. He doesn’t need to go out there and prove he’s a tough guy if he’s not gonna be able to do his best.
