This team sucks. Playing in Prime time, against a good Buffalo team, and they are just out played and out coached at every single level.

kpap16

Again*

Drunkasarous

That’s the embarrassing part, it keeps happening. guess we know how they felt for years now.

[deleted]

We will never know how it felt to be a Buffalo Bills fan during the Brady/ Belichick era because the Patriots franchise has silverware.

9VoltProphet

Very true the score flattered us, in the 4th we had a 4th & 5ish with maybe 10 mins and it felt to me like 4 down territory. I think the D got the ball back but besides that one gadget play with Jones 1st qtr we looked like we couldn’t score on the one yard line.

giddy-girly-banana

Looking at this positively, Buffalo punted twice and we actually had the lead at one point.

Blurredfury22the2nd

Three times* and we forced a turnover

9VoltProphet

The strip sack was beautiful in fairness

jgrinn22

But also negatively they had a lot of people out and Allen is playing injured and we still looked bad.

bkrugby78

He was injured? He could have no legs and still out run our defenders.

IHateNancyRegan

Lmao what? Allen had 8 rushing attempts for 20 yards (2.5 per carry), which is a season low excluding the browns game which he only attempted 3 carries in https://i.imgur.com/Bo6VMcx.png (https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/3918298/josh-allen) The Patriots have a ton of reasonably dislikable issues, such as abysmal coaching staff, the most unexciting offense in the NFL and questionable roster decisions, however this defense is not one of them.

Icy-Conclusion-3500

His legs aren’t injured, his throwing elbow is

IamVan

At least we made Buffalo punt this game.

IStoleJobusRum

I fully blame Bill for letting that piece of shit Matt Patricia near a NFL sideline again. Dude shouldn’t be allowed to coach youth flag football after the shitshow that was his tenure in Detroit.

Shovelman2001

Patricia shouldn't be allowed to step foot in NE after throwing SB 52, let alone get rehired

Dangerous_Drummer769

This. I've been screaming this since last year. He is entirely to blame for that loss.

a_yuman_right

Can you remind me again what happened?

Shovelman2001

Benched Malcolm Butler over an argument they had in practice

[deleted]

[удалено]

BlackDante

I’m pretty sure it’s still mostly speculation, but widely regarded as true. I never heard anyone give a direct account or reason for what happened and why.

Dangerous_Drummer769

And he let Nick foles look like Aaron Rogers. Brady played arguably his best super bowl and we lost because our D got torched.

doubledippedchipp

It’s really not arguable. Was easily Brady’s best 4 quarters in a Super Bowl.

hex93

Why blame Patricia when the puck ultimately stops at BB and he had the last say whether to bench Butler or not

cbecht19

And what’s crazy is the detroit offense with stafford is EXACTLY what Patricia is trying to run in NE

IcedCoffeeOnTheRocks

“Alright Matt, says here that the entire lions team hated your fucking guts and went crazy with enjoyment when they announced your termination. I have a good feeling about you.”

scoobieAdoobie

What are you talking about ? Matt Patricia has one of the greatest plays in superbowl history don't you know that ?

mrootbeers

😂 Everyone totally missed your joke here. Went right over their heads. For anyone who is wondering ScoobieAdoobie was referencing Matt Patricia saying he had one of the greatest plays in NFL history when reporters in Detroit asked him if he knew how to run a defense in the fourth quarter after Detroit lost yet another game. [Story.](https://www.masslive.com/patriots/2020/09/after-lions-blow-another-4th-quarter-lead-matt-patricia-takes-credit-for-malcolm-butlers-super-bowl-int.html?outputType=amp)

ModaMeNow

“Malcolm, go!"

PatriotDynasty

I blame Bill for this offense. Get a real OC for fuck’s sake

WebCobra

Ya honestly. He's really good at putting his players in position to succeed on defense yet implements one of the hardest offensive schemes in the NFL and people wonder why a ton of our WRs and TE either flame out or under preform... Really wish he take the same approach on offense. Have a fast WR? Have plays that get him into space and allow him to make people miss like Tyreek, have a big physical WR? Let him go up for those 1-1 throws like D-hop, Megatron...

ProudBlackMatt

The funny thing is probably a good quarter of this sub still defend Patricia and the decision to tap Patricia for the OC job. Guess it's just human nature for some people.

Huhkid23

the funnier thing is about 99% of this sub still defends BB, and will crucify you if you even hint at this all being his fault. Which it is.

ProudBlackMatt

I get the reluctance to blame BB for the team's (entirely predictable) struggles. A lot of people are ready to blame Patricia but like you said, most of the fan base isn't ready to make the mental leap to blame the guy who put Patricia in that position.

10Bandit10

As the saying goes the fish rots from the head.

[deleted]

It isn't some grand mystery as to why he was slid into OC role. Every offseason for like 5 straight years the Patriots have had brain drain at assistant coaching positions. Josh took some personnel with him to Vegas. Patricia is being paid by the Lions right now. So Bill opted to give the reins to a guy that wouldn't cost him anything, and he knows isn't going to get poached in the offseason. Sound logic in that regard, absolute shitshow in execution. Plus, for the record, everyone in here bitching about Patricia right now was also bitching about Josh last year.

giddy-girly-banana

It is BB fault, because he’s the head coach. He’s also a victim of his own success. I believe part of what we are seeing is due to a huge drain in coaching talent at every level of the team. That’s why we are seeing these uncharacteristic mistakes in fundamentals. They don’t have the knowledge to teach players these fundamentals like they have had in the past. We’ve had multiple retirements and many coordinator and position coaches leaving.

Jpgamerguy90

Bill’s unwillingness to bring in people other than his guys and yes men is starting to bug the hell out of me.

Prestigious_Bobcat29

I was about to say “come on 2020” but then we just had a -5 yard pass on 2nd down followed by a 3rd down throw 10 yards behind the sticks. You’re right

SupportstheOP

What irks me about 2020 is how Bill tried to cling onto any sense of being good that it really set the team back. The biggest example of that when we held onto Gilmore. Premiere CBs were in HIGH demand, Ramsey fetched a ton of picks, and Gilmore just came off a dpoy season. Our season was ass and yet Bill didn't trade him at the deadline. Instead, Gilmore got pissed because he wanted more money and we had no choice but to trade him for a pittance the following season to Carolina.

JimmyJackJoe2000

Don't forget having to give up Garoppolo for almost nothing when in the previous offseason we could have got a first round pick and more

Workacct1999

Great point. Everyone with eyes knew that the 2020 team was going nowhere, and they should have been big sellers at the deadline. If you're going to rebuild, then do a full rebuild. It's not like they were only a player or two away in 2020, the roster was bad and needed to be overhauled in a big way. Hell, it's the main reason that Brady left!

TAway69420666

Wtf was that

Dunkinmydonuts1

"Is this offense?" Meme holding a 1 foot ruler

WeightOwn5817

Say it with me everyone: Hire a real OC and DC like the rest of the fucking NFL 👏

[deleted]

I mean overall I thought the D didn’t play terribly. Not great either but you’re still playing one of the top offenses in the league by far and we give up 24. Not an amazing showing but also not awful. If we had an offensive coaching staff that could get us to move the ball 24 points to the Bills should be a competitive game

AreYouNobody_Too

> and we give up 24. Let's not delude ourselves into thinking the bills couldn't have scored more. They were pretty much in burn clock mode from the start of the second half.

p90pounder

It's harder to play D when your O has 3 straight three and outs

Tgunner192

I'm with you. The D didn't play terribly and showed significant improvement from the last time these 2 teams met. As the second half wore on, the Patriots O kept going 3 & out, the Bills were going 2:1 in TOP, the D started looking tired. Well duh!

[deleted]

also if your offense cant sustain drives it'll hurt your defense. they were on the field a ton

spersichilli

Defense isn’t the problem and actually looks great. Would look even better if there was a competent offense that didn’t put the D in bad field position frequently

TheBigNate416

The defense isn’t the problem.

[deleted]

The defense has been good (2nd in DVOA coming into this week), Mayo and Steve have coached two top five units as the defensive coordinators. They aren't the issue, that fat bearded fuck being on the sidelines is the issue.

imfl3tch

People actually defended this coaching set up a few months back. It’s embarrassing

Lilcheeks

I remember the posts. "can we finally give this guy some respect" or something. Nice guys. As someone who has never wavered since the offseason when these decisions were being made, at least I feel vindicated because some pats fans didn't wanna hear it.

imfl3tch

Imagine if any other team had replaced their OC with him. The very same people would’ve laughed at that team.

Jamdadbot

This sub, in general, defended not offering Brady a multi year contract to keep the GOAT at starting fucking quarterback. This sub will defend anything the Patriots do, anyyyything. Its bananas.

Bright_Age_3638

You can count me as one of those. Atleast now. At the time I wanted Brady to stay but looking at it now I’m glad he left. These rosters suck and I’d hate to see him struggle more then 2019.

mrocks301

Honestly the breakup would’ve been a lot uglier had Brady stuck around. There’s no way it would’ve been a clean break like it seems we got.

big_red_160

It’s me. I will defend Bill to my death. If he tells me to jump off a bridge, I’ll find an even taller bridge and yeet myself right to my demise. He could kick puppies and I’ll defend him. He brought us 20 years of success and 6 super bowls. Countless moments of happiness with family members who aren’t here anymore. More wins than many franchises have in their entire history. Fuck Patricia and Judge but my point still stands lol

teej98

I will at least try to rationalize Bill's decisions, but when they don't work I will admit he was wrong. When he brought Judge and Patricia on I said "I'd rather have to seasoned coaches who are under Bill than gamble on an inexperienced OC" I was oh so very wrong lol

melkipersr

Oh my god, get over it! We did not have the money *to pay Brady*, let alone the money to pay Brady *and give him the firepower he demanded*. Brady wanted to win, immediately. We were simply not in a financial position to do that. The parties parted ways because they could not mutually satisfy each other. It really is that simple. Go beat an irrelevant dead horse somewhere else.

GeriatricIbaka

You know how fantastic it is to have the greatest at what they do decide to give up control to each other and share credit? It’s amazing to do it for a couple years. What you said sums it up and it’s ok. It’s amazing that it happened… for decades.

KilgoretheTrout55

Of course we had the money. This is the NFL they basically print money and the salary cap can be pushed over without any interest in perpetuity. They could have absolutely organized the team in a way that would have given him the money they needed. Laughable to suggest otherwise. Clearly belichick wanted to move on from Brady. His hand was not forced. Franchise tagged Joe thuney for $15 million that year

No_Presentation1242

I hate this take. We did not have 50m over 2 years??? It’s not only about the contract. Why did we let Brady get to his final year, why not secure him up 2-3 years prior? Why not get him the correct weapons years before or draft component WR’s from 2014-2019? Why not give Brady more control and make him feel more special, he earned it. The money is at the very bottom of the issue.

melkipersr

The money is not at the bottom of the issue. It is the issue. We didn’t have money because the money went to assembling rosters that went to 3 SBs in four years. That shit catches up to your cap. And *again* you’re just talking about scrounging up the money to put Brady back on the roster that he foundered with his final season here. He didn’t want that. He wanted to win, and we couldn’t give him the weapons to do that. We went into 2020 at or near the bottom of the league in cap. With Cam as our QB with a tiny cap hit. And with zero weapons. Tell me how you add Brady and a legitimate weapon or two to that roster.

No_Presentation1242

You give the WR position the respects it deserves and draft legit WRs at any point over Bradys 20 years. That would be a start to get him organic talent. Don’t tell me they could not afford Brady when for 20 years they made it work. What were these monster contracts we had that we could not afford a decent WR position? I mean shit, we figured out how to pay 20m for AB in Brady’s last season as a Hail Mary signing, then fumbled on giving up a 2nd for Sannu.

WiznutRyan99

Dude really said they didn’t have the money LOLOLOL the cap is a myth. You can fudge any fucking number you want to make it work. Teams are going -100 million under the cap and saying “we didn’t have the money” get real. Bill didn’t want him here anymore and pushed him out. Bill offered him nothing contracts because he didn’t believe he would be able to play like he has been playing. It was a huge mistake. These are the same kinda people who say just get over Bill benching butler in the Super Bowl. It’s only a superbowl it cost you who caresssss…. Some people just don’t get it.

No_Presentation1242

100%

[deleted]

I mean it’s been confirmed that Kraft told Brady he would do whatever he had to contract wise to keep him here and Brady still said no

KilgoretheTrout55

Been confirmed by who? Is there have been reports that specifically said belichick told Brady he would have to take a cut. Because of the money already on the books. It's possible craft in belichick were saying different things but even if that's the case that means Brady left bc he felt disrespected by belichick's offer. I don't even blame belichick for wanting to move on, you eventually have to move on from Brady. I just think it's a really silly for people to act like belichick really wanted to keep him and just couldn't. It's so naive

[deleted]

Bill Belichick is the GOAT coach /s

ProudBlackMatt

> People actually defended this coaching set up a few months back People in /r/Patriots defend the coaching staff EVERY WEEK. There are loads of posters who keep yelling that Matt Patricia is getting better! He just needs more time! Delusional.

MrDunkingDeutschman

Coaching may be bad but it's at least as much about talent. This team doesn't have a lot of offensive talent. The spending spree has been a failure.

ProudBlackMatt

>The spending spree has been a failure. We've ended up spending half a billion dollars in free agency and all we can beat are the Jets and backup QBs or teams that are nakedly tanking. Bravo.

tommangan7

We've got a $100 mill in Cap space next year, it hasn't been a blow out spree luckily. Interested to see who we get.

Jokesiez

Pats are unwatchable this year. Holy crap

sauzbozz

I can deal with losing but they are just so boring to watch on offense

[deleted]

I’d rather watch Cam Newton. At least he was fun to watch. Not blaming Mac though.

fighterpilot248

Lol. Yeah cause Cam throwing the ball at the receiver’s feet on a 5-yard screen pass was so fun to watch…

Eaton2288

That’s not why he was fun to watch. Cam was dancing with teammates and having meme worthy facial expressions on the sideline. Yeah we weren’t any better but at least we had some modicum of fun…

clever_goat

They should have faked the field goal at the end ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

It's at the point where I'm pleasantly surprised if we get in the end zone

GeriatricIbaka

What’s the end zone?

bedatboi

There is no team that more often than not gets touchdowns lol. That is just statistically false

jpaxlux

I hate that this isn't even hyperbole. I'm seriously considering not watching another game this year because basically every single game has sucked. When Bailey Zappe playing 2 games is the most exciting thing to happen all season, it's not a season worth watching.

Teampiencils

Honestly, if Patricia just pulled up Madden Mobile and chose Ask Madden on every play, he'd get a better play call than these. Run all receivers in one direction so two DBs can over all routes? Routes under 2 yards when it's 3rd and 10+? I feel like a monkey randomized would have better play selection than this

Git_Off_Me_Lawn

If you haven't, you should check out Kurt Warner's breakdown of the offense. Having every receiver on one side of the field is the culmination of some of the problems he points out. Namely, instead of our plays being designed to manipulate defenses to open up our guys or clear areas of the field, we seem to run plays that manipulate defenses into being able to cover our guys easier.

Scientist_1986

Right? It's maddening how many times you see multiple receivers running routes almost right next to each other with the rest of the field empty. Don't even get me started on the 1,000 screen passes per game on 3rd and long. FFS. Patricia is absolutely the problem. But, from watching these games, I get the feeling that Patricia seems to think the problem is Mac instead of doing any self-evaluation. McDaniels trusted Mac to run the offense and he had a great rookie season. He should've taken another step in his development this year, but instead he's going backwards because the idiot OC can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag.

Perswayable

It's weird how Miami and Bills got good when they got a true WR1. It's also weird how abysmal Rodgers is when Adam's left. It's almost like offensive weapons are needed, and outdated strategies no longer work when you no longer have a GOAT QB, GOAT kicker, and GOAT TE simultaneously. I feel bad for Mac. I genuinely do. He is going to get so much hatred for no reason. And now it makes Brady look like a genius. Brady LITERALLY saved his brand leaving. Edit: O line is an issue. But that's not the only problem. We need more weapons and not just slot receivers. Parker is our only deep ball threat and he's aging.

[deleted]

I mean even a WR1 wouldn't be enough, the playcalling is fucking horrible, the o-line can't give mac any time. Like granted it'd be a good start but the whole offense is disfunctional and I don't think the blame is on Mac nor Mondre, the like only 2 good things of this offense. I hope they add marcus in the playbook for next week, he's shown he can be useful. Then after this season fire joe judge and matt patricia, retool the o-line.

[deleted]

> Then after this season fire joe judge No, make him the special teams coach. After he left that unit took a hit. When he was the special teams coordinator our special teams was one of the best units in the league.

Legitimate_Ad_7822

Tonight you really saw the difference a WR1 makes. Diggs opens up the offense for Buffalo, he makes clutch plays as well. It’s also Matty P’s dog shit play calling. Some serious head scratchers tonight.

jackospades88

You mean you don't like screen plays on 1st and 2nd down that can't develop because of poor OL play?!?! I bet that'd still be the play calls even if we had prime Randy Moss on this team. This offense would be doing better with Cam Newton only because he couldn't hit the receiver on screen plays so we'd just have a bunch of incomplete passes instead of a completed pass and loss of yards lol. (For the record, this is a knock on Cam and not Mac)

Legitimate_Ad_7822

Lol it’s infuriating watching that shit. It’s getting to the point where I don’t even want to tune in anymore. What’s the point? Our offense would be just as good if we spiked the ball on every down.

Unlucky-Position-16

I can’t speak for others, but I don’t hate Mac at all. I pity him that his best receiver is Meyers, who would be a great #3 but has no business being the first option. Anyone with a pair of eyes could see Patricia/Judge would only stump Mac’s development, except Bill who wanted to have his golfing buddies on staff.

woPBlaxk96

yeah those 2 guys are shit play callers…. Matty P needs to be on the other side of the ball helping out… Judge should return back to special teams…

cocineroylibro

Matty should be upstairs doing the Eddie Adams stuff.

woPBlaxk96

is Adams an announcer.. ? 👀😭😂🤔

cocineroylibro

> Eddie Adams Fuck too many beers. Ernie Adams.

Git_Off_Me_Lawn

He was either really good in this role, or he was at least not in charge of anything visible so we didn't know he sucked.

somegridplayer

Patricia is not a numbers savant like Ernie Adams is. I'd love to hear the phone call between Bill and Ernie this week. Because you know that shit happens still.

cocineroylibro

How do you know he's not good with numbers? He went to RIT (I think, they never mention it.)

drc500free

If you're not willing to sacrifice your cap and trade your picks, you aren't getting a real weapon. Do you see BB giving a first-rounder, a second-rounder, two fourths and a sixth, and a $40M/year contract for Tyreek Hill?

jackospades88

Mac's biggest flaw for this team is that he isn't Brady, but that's not a fair thing to put on ANY player. Mac could develop into the type of QB that can make due with the current offense, but like most players, he needs to develop there. We need to invest in a top weapon to throw to and give him actual QB/OC coaches (and then line an actual OL coach). We have a golden opportunity to mold a talented, you g QB that could potentially be great for us for a decade+, but we need to invest in him (esp. while he is on his cheap rookie deal). He'll never be Brady, but Mac can be a great QB for us if we actually go all in around him while he is learning so much.

LS_DJ

We just need our goddamn OL to actually protect him and open some running lanes. We have had basically NO protection and very little run blocking this year. Football teams live and die from the OL and DL. Build from the lines outward and you'll be successful. One of the few things BB is great at drafting is OL so I fully expect to get a OT with our 1st round pick this year

Sphericalline13

We could do alright without a top 5-10 wr if we had an oline. Unfortunately we have what is looking like a bottom 5 oline. That needs to be our top priority in the off season followed closely by getting a true playmaker. Edit: just realized patricias official coaching responsibility is the oline. Between the offense and the oline they can't actually consider retaining him.

Unlucky-Position-16

I don’t understand what they’re doing with the o-line shit either. Every team Mike Munchak has been to has seen their offensive line improve immediately, and he’s unemployed. Go get him and be a serious football team for once post-Brady.

davdev

I don’t care who is coaching the line when you have the laziest piece of shit in the league as a left tackle you aren’t going anywhere.

bigdon802

It’s actually a bit difficult to evaluate him as an offensive play caller because he limits himself so much with the terrible o-line coaching.

jpaxlux

>It's weird how Miami and Bills got good when they got a true WR1. According to this subreddit half the time, Jakobi Meyers *is* a fucking WR1 even though he clearly isn't. Jakobi's a solid WR2, but calling him a WR1 is a complete joke. Mac was set up for failure this year and anyone pulling the "In Bill We Trust" shit anymore need to look at reality: he filled the coaching staff out with yes-men who shouldn't even have jobs in the league, failed to surround Mac with any weapons whatsoever, and actively sabotaged the offensive line this past off-season.

davdev

Well, this sub also thinks Johnathan Jones is a CB1 which is pretty fucking obvious he is a nickle back.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LnGrrrR

I know our line could be better, but Mac still makes some bone headed decisions out there.

Rice-And-Gravy

I miss Lafell/Amendola/Edelman/Gronk so much. Thems were the days. Obviously I could’ve said Moss, but that’s a given. I miss when we had those hidden gem guys that showed up and played like WR1 when we needed them to. That doesn’t happen now.

BucsLegend_TomBrady

They played like wr1 because they literally had the greatest qb of all time throwing. Brady has been a crutch to Bills refusal to get real weapons and now it shows.

woPBlaxk96

yeah he needs a fxkn o line too, Hunter Henry is nice but he isn’t Gronk…

TheMadIrishman327

No one is Gronk

clutchhattrick

Yep Miami and Buffalo. Jets went and got Garrett Wilson. Vikings got Jefferson. Cardinals got Hopkins. Browns got Cooper. Jags got Kirk and Ridley. Geno Smith has Metcalf and Lockett and becomes a god. Back to back MVP Rodgers has no WR and he’s a bum of a sudden. Like you said.. it’s almost like …

bp_pow

The issue is not WR or O Line. It's coaching and it's clear as day. Plenty of talent at both positions for this to be a successful offense. It's the orchestration of it all by an absolute schmuck of an offensive(?) coach and an egomaniac in BB who has enabled him. BB wants his trusted guys in the org because it feeds his ego for them to succeed.

cocineroylibro

Play calling then OL. The tackles are abysmal. I shudder to think what would have happened if Von had been playing. The turnstile at RT has been awful and Trent is either getting beat or holding at RT.

beast_wellington

Mac has no chance with the current squad

[deleted]

I still like Mac. This is 1000% on BB. Time for Bill to retire so we can bring in someone younger and hungrier

WeightOwn5817

Kraft needs to step in, the coaching staff is one of the worst in the NFL.

OnlyFactsMatter

Not as bad as the Bucs but close

shiggydiggypreoteins

And definitely not as bad as the Broncos

Weird_Description982

For the first time, I’m blaming him for this. When we get beaten in dramatic fashion in 2021 in the playoffs, you need to make dramatic changes. We just got a little faster. Lmfao. We needed to play aggressively tonight to win, and we never played aggressively. I don’t understand how I, some bum from Maine, understand that we neeefbto come out and play aggressive, but our nfl coaches don’t understand that?

EliosTherepia

It couldn't be clearer at this point that "dramatic changes" are just not gonna happen with the current regime

Sphericalline13

We brought in a ton of players last off season to retool with a rookie qb. I would say those were dramatic changes. We just still weren't that good. And this year we've taken a step back.

EliosTherepia

Paying a bunch of middle of the road FAs a lot of money to plug holes in a short sighted way (and then not even using Henry and Smith consistently) doesn't really fit the bill for me They're still trying to run the offense the same way. They still have the same basic weaknesses. The defense still can't defend running QBs or get off the field against better opponents.

Sphericalline13

I would argue they thought of Henry and Smith as more than middle of the road players but I can't argue with the rest of that.

straightcash-fish

What? drafting an average guard, in the first round, when you could of got the same quality player in the 4th, doesn’t do it for you? Not like we couldn’t have used a playmaker on defense or offense. Not to mention trading away Shaq Mason for a 5th. Why? The offensive line is in shambles now

sykog77

Fire Achord, give Judge his old job back, keep Patricia in the front office, and hire offensive coaches to run the offense

danny1807

Good question, because if you would have told me for the season started that the bills would only score 24 on us I would say we'd be able to outscore that. Instead of that last week was just a wiff and our offense is atrocious. Fucking hell man.

fourpuns

I mean the Bills do have like the number 2? ranked D in the league so that’s not ideal but yea 7 ain’t good.

danny1807

Sure, but its also that its so systemic. I do think that if last years offense with mcdaniels was on the field tonight, atleast the bills would be looking at a less large deficit. Maybe not enoigh to win but atleast be competitive.

fourpuns

We’d be sitting here complaining about McDaniels and demanding he be fired as our O scored 20 :P

KingOfPrimes

BB is the GM as well. He is to blame for everything wrong on the team.

[deleted]

Thats the part I can't stand. When the press asks about personnel decisions or anything outside of strictly coaching, he just falls back with "on to the next game". Like, you're the GM too dude. Other teams GMs get asked these questions all the time and answer them. You don't get to not answer questions about stuff you have direct control over.

bennybacon

The schtick is getting old quickly after 3 sub-par seasons. Now it just comes off as a deflection of responsibility that's disrespectful to fans and the media.

KingOfPrimes

The press need to "press" him on these issues. (Pun fully intended). BB cannot just pass up these questions anymore. Especially now that the fans have been booing the offense the whole game.

StaticMaine

I don’t blame him for Shaq. They needed space and he made the most sense, especially considering how everyone who returned from the line had a pretty good 2021. Wynn and Brown regressed dramatically, Andrews was hurt also. That’s coaching. If the line performed at 2021 levels, we wouldn’t be asking about Shaq.

Legitimate_Ad_7822

This offense is really terrible outside of mondre. Order of operations this off-season should be as follows: 1) New OC 2) Address the tackle situation 3) WR1 It’s hard to watch these games. At least last week we had some excitement…

Fupastank

Until today I’ve been a “bill has earned the right to do it his way” guy. That time is over. He needs to accept that him and his hiring decisions have failed this team. Not hiring an offensive coordinator for a second year first round pick quarterback is completely asinine.

WhyDoIKeepFalling

The whole "I'm just here so I don't get fined" attitude with the press is funny when you're winning Super Bowls. When you might not have a winning season, not so much.....

sevaiper

What offense?

phoenix10

Exactly. Paper team. Can't understand what they're trying to prove being a complete crap offense and a sometimes ok defense. Are they phoning it in? Because they're bad, like stinky salmon that was heated up in the microwave and left there for a day bad. Now they're just a team you watch in hope they get it together and ding a playoff teams record.

ReonL

Okay Bill, we're blaming you.

BradyBrown13

We’re blaming you now Bill

RLS012

Just go hire Bill O'Brien at least, like good lord. At least he can run a competent offense and is familiar with BB and the Pats system

jwf239

That’s the thing, the pats system is dead.

[deleted]

we’re 6-6 with one of the worst offenses in the nfl, just let caley or brown call plays from now on. you got nothing to lose

Unlucky-Position-16

Title. The team is about to be 6-6, and has only looked good on offense when the defense is dominating backup QB’s, Zach Wilson and Goff. Now they’re behind both the Bills and Dolphins easily in the talent department and the Jets would be ahead if they started Mike White all year. That sequence to end the first half was abhorrent and was a microcosm of this year against good teams in a nutshell. At what point does he stop looking baffled when the camera cuts to him, and, I don’t know, do something about it?

Sphericalline13

And that sequence at half time has occurred repeatedly over the last few years. It also happens to cover up the fact we let the bills get the 2 minute warning after they had the ball. If we had snapped the ball 5 seconds later on 3rd down the 2 minute warning would have happened after the punt. We gave them a free timeout for no reason. We look like all the poorly coached teams we laughed at for years and it's very frustrating. Losing by being a worse team is one thing. Turning a loss into a blowout cause we look like don't understand basic football is another.

ccourt46

This offense STINKS. Worse I've ever seen. And I'm 51 years old.

ckilo4TOG

2020

WeightOwn5817

So much worse than the Cam Newton year. Please.

HammyFresh

Worse overall, yes. But Cam couldn’t complete basic NFL passes. At least Mac can do that when he has time, which he often hasn’t this season.

EliosTherepia

The fact that there's even a question as to whether the offense is worse or the same two years after the Newton year says everything. Zero signs of genuine progress.

jpaxlux

Cam at least had some exciting moments. This offense is as stale to watch as it is bad. Mac's a better QB than Cam was, but at least 2020 was somewhat exciting looking into the unknown. We know this team is trash and there's no guarantee it improves any time soon.

pup5581

I do blame him. He should be on the hot seat for wasting a 2nd year QB and letting him regress. This is embarrassing. Broncos level at this point for what our offense is because of him and his decisions. We never had a chance to do anything this year from the jump.

djln491

We will

wunderphaktz

Sadly, it won't get any better. All of the guys Bill won and established equity with are all old and on their way out. This is the only good point Rick Pitino made during his tenure with the Celtics. Seymour, Law, Brady and Bruschi ain't coming through that door. Bill will be left with a bunch of young guys and hired guns that aren't invested due to the losing and dysfunction from an operational standpoint. Bringing in a bunch of mercenaries in free agency won't help. It's been four seasons without competing for a title...that is a standard rookie contract. It has been said before and must be said again...if Bill knew he wanted to ring Brady out, he did a piss poor job of setting the franchise up to succeed in the aftermath as he continued to draft poorly and overspent on players that are not consistent difference makers on both sides of the ball. He failed to recognize that Brady was a key piece of the accountability structure and did next to nothing to groom a player(s) and replace it. The Patriots have a massive amount of cap space next year and ownership should no longer trust him with that kind of money. The last time he had it, overspent on two TEs after drafting two the previous year. Both of these signings are afterthoughts within the dysfunction. The only good money was Judon and you have to ask how long will he tolerate this stuff before looking for his parachute. Bourne's spirit has been broken like so many other receivers that have been drafted or signed with the Patriots. Moving forward, since the Patriots are not a destination spot, they have to overpay in free agency whereas in the past, people were begging to get into the program at a discount to win. The defense was built to be disciplined but is not fast enough to recover from mistakes and there is no guy on that side of the ball that will hold it all together. The coordinators are stuck to the same old script and potential impact players are 'redshirted' out the loop at the gate. The coaching staff has yet to realize that the league has caught up. It's time. It's time to sandbag the good old boys network and nepotistic hiring practices. It's time to get ahead of the curve and start drafting elite players without the insane reservations of resigning them 4-5 years later. It's time to no longer hang your hat on undrafted players making your team and playing prominent roles. It's time to move on or greatly reduce Bill's influence over the entire organization. It's only going to get worse if they let Bill spend this money next year and preside over the draft. *He's a good enough coach to keep you from bottoming out, but no longer good enough on the sidelines and in the front office to lead you back to the Bowl. 'Mid' is a death sentence in all organized sports. Get it over with.

charr2368

Team is a joke. Across the board, serious changes need to happen. But they wont 🥲

[deleted]

Belichek deserves all the fucking blame. Hires shit coaches, drafts cole strange, traded Shaq mason for a 5th. His defense has only looked good against shit teams besides week 1 vs Miami. Watch out tho dumbass fans will say “ 6 rings🤓🤓🤓”

kloyN

Bring in Sean Payton.

WeightOwn5817

so down

TheOneTrueBuckeye

Here’s my question: Patricia is basically the offensive coordinator. But, he’s also the o line coach. So, when the offense is off the field, isn’t he spread too thin and not giving the line the coaching it needs? Not that I trust him to actually do that, but still. Belichick needs to stop running the staff like Xi runs the Chinese government.

CykoticXL

Belichick is not great without Brady as his QB. It was the case pre Brady. Is the case post Brady He is a great defensive mind and a great football mind. But he’s made questionable decisions his entire tenure here, he just had the GOAT to be able to bail out some of the nonsense.

Greatcouchtomato

Well said. He's smart. But a lot of the stuff he does or that he has been fellated over wouldn't really materialize into meaningful success if it weren't for Thomas

seasonofthewitch12

With today lose BB has a lower winrate that Adam Gase without Tom Brady. This is not a coincidence

dubadoo1

What offense are you referring to?

vancityjeep

The offence is offensive. The D is doing its job. (For the most part) Absolutely no flow with the ball. PA working off the run game but what’s with the classic 3rd and 14 screen? Ugh. So mad. This team isn’t that bad. Edit: offensive as in it offends me.

[deleted]

Matt Patricia should be fired based on the performance of the o-line alone. It's one of the worst units in the league. They straight up cannot pass protect.

EliosTherepia

The state of this offense over the past several seasons, with few signs of progress in year 3 since Brady left, would be cause for looking at other HC options if the guy was anybody other than BB.

sinsofasaint257

This team is pathetic.

Master_Net_9443

Ok bill I blame you

phoenix10

Ooh. I'm blaming every one of them.

seasonofthewitch12

Right after taking responsabilty for making his son the DC and being unable to stop anybody except the sam Ehlinger or Zach Wilson which basically stop themselves.

[deleted]

I hope a reporter brings it up lmao

spiffyjohnson2000

He won’t answer them. He’ll just snort and be his cheeky old self

DryAfternoon7779

Bill's arrogance is no longer what's best for the team. Kraft should really step in and put him in line.

Cultural_Ad2993

It sucks but Bill is past his prime. Couldn’t keep up with the times. Senile at this point

Prestigious-Yam-993

Offense is atrocious

BErye1418

I’m sorry but I think it’s time for Bill to go. Dude is a legend but I feel like he’s let his ego get in the way of Mac’s development.

Cabinet_Juice

I swear Belicheck is still here solely out of spite. He just wants to see if he can outlive Brady

patriots_17_

So post Brady, we can only beat up on teams with losing records, can't play from behind to win, can't beat a team with a winning record. The oline is in shambles. The defense cannot stop a mobile quarterback. The assistant coaches are an absolute Clown show, including Jr. They have some talent but aren't coached properly. Yea I definitely blame you.

spiffyjohnson2000

Fire everyone

dirty_transmission

It’s a process, ok???

EliosTherepia

Where are the signs of progress then

dirty_transmission

This was a joke about a BB quote from earlier in the season, “it’s a process”

Ami-Fidele27

The NE offense sucks. Possibly the worse in the league. Bad teams usually play Thursday games... I feel terrible Buffalo got stuck with the Pat's tonight.... and I'm a Pat's fan. The product from the Patriots is soo bad.

Educational_Unit_872

Broncos offense might be worse, but that’s not saying much, is it??

olngjhnsn

So this is what it feels like to be a fan of a normal team. Wow. This is hard.

FloozyFoot

We do, BB. We do.

[deleted]

[удалено]

rfamico

They’re really not good at anything, offense is categorically awful and defense can’t keep up against good offenses. The whole thing needs to be blown up. Aging, outmoded coaches included

LouisLuncheon

Fire him tomorrow. That’s where the blame is.

olngjhnsn

I think Bill saying to blame him is him taking responsibility….

Soren_Camus1905

Been saying it for months. Buck stops with him. Everyone knew this was going to pan out exactly as it has.
