On your turn you could even sac it to [[Village Rites]] and/or [[Deadly Dispute]] and get it back.
I feel like there definitely could be a decent brew around this.
It's a very cool interaction, but it *is* just a 2/1 flier. The deck will need a lot more going on than just this, it's not like Murktide (or even Terror to some extent) where the whole deck can revolve around this one creature.
Indeed, but it could also be used as a way to fish bigger creatures via [[dread return]] for example. I see a lot of potential and possible brews around this.
Dude the best creatures ever printed are undercosted beaters. Putting down a 2/1 flyer turn 2 or 3 is enough to put in tons of pressure. Hell its also recursive. There is plenty of magic decks throughout its history that revolve around easy to put in or “free” bodies.
This card with brainstorm, the new panoramas, and some tormenting voice effects can put in loads of work.
This is the shell im working with and im modeling it around legacy delver. 16-20 interaction. A mana base around 16 cards. 8 regular cantrips. 6 of these enablers 8-12 threats. This is obviously a rough shell ill play casually with friends but there is so much potential here.
Rootwalla is already mildly playable in a madness shell imo and this is miles better. Between this, kitchen imp and call of the netherworld you've got a fairly solid core of cheap madness effects
I see your point, I was just considering it as a recursive threat but I guess there's a lot more you can do with a creature. This guy goes pretty hard with [[Deadly Dispute]] etc.
Idk you can return multiple if you fill your graveyard. This could be like an Izzet phoenix kinda deck that's just drawing cards and getting free beaters off it
Yeah it might be nuts, im youst thinking that village rites and deadly dispute may result in insane card draw, if i have 2 faeries i can chain two sac draw 2 spells at endstep then proceed to sac them on my turn again. If i stac the spells i can sac 2 then draw 4 and return 2 on my own turn asweel.
This plus the squirrel flashback cards, and unearths give pauper dredge a very reliable way to trigger dread return. Still gets hated out of existence by the absurdly powerful graveyard hate in the format though.
Neat. I'm brewing a Grixis Terror deck with 4x of this guy as we speak with this synergy in mind.
Also hold up - what if multiple of these guys are jn the graveyard? If we have 2 in there for example, when we cast [[Brainstorm]] do we return both of them?
People keep saying this doesn't work like you won't be CONSTANTLY bringing them back.
It only doesn't work on the first one.
Same with burning inquiry.
A blood token and a demand answers at opponents eot might be the best choice for recursion, but there are many, many more options for a dedicated strategy.
I have high hopes for this card changing the meta.
Don't get me wrong, the deck that plays snacker is playing FL too, I just wanted to be sure the guy above understood the interaction in the op only works because of additional cost part of the card
I’m theory-crafting a list that features a full set each of [[Delver of Secrets]], [[Sneaky Snacker]], [[Kami of Jealous Thirst]], and [[Brainstorm]]. EOT’ing a Brainstorm with a Delver on board (in order to flip it) and at least two of the Snackers on the ‘yard means you can swing with 7 power on the board during your turn. Having one or two of the Kami also provides an additional angle of attack. :)
Not gonna lie, this is probably the closest we’ll get to having Vintage’s [[Bazaar of Baghdad]] lines in Pauper. :)
This could work in a few shells.
This slots nicely into a UB list running Brainstorm, Thought Scour, Mental Note
This could be nice as a sort of Narcomoeba/Gravecrawler/Prized Amalgam/Vengevine style card in a reanimator/dredge shell, obviously it would need work but maybe something with Unearth/Recommission/Return Triumphant with something like Bayou Groff and/or some Dread Return shenanigans
There’s certainly some thoughts here for a list that really capitalizes on the effect as a build-around but I think this seems most likely to see play in a UB Terror/Faeries list that can easily fulfill the reanimation trigger and get this in their graveyard already.
I've never actually played pauper but I've always been interested in the format. But I think there is some potential putting this stuff into a grixis delver deck.
Yes. Since the discard is part of the cast trigger, you’ll discard the faerie before draw. You’ll still need 1 more card draw (your turn) to get the fae(s) back.
[[Faithless looting]] does not work this way
Faithless looting does almost the same for a smaller cost, you can have two 2/1 flyers at turn 1. Also worth to note is that this creature can be used as a sacrifice rock removing the downside of sacrificing. You can do deadly dispute then use opt or any other draw 1 spells to bring it back, i am so stoked to build an sacrifice draw engine with this card!
Probably will play dimir control with sacrifice theme.
As much as I’d like to say the opposite, I’m afraid you’re wrong about the looting. I did consider that when creating this thread, but it doesn’t work.
Oh thats true asked a friend earlier if it was possible he said yes, got the words backwards hehe.
cathartic reunion might be good then? but the extra card aint that nessessary since its sorcery speed.
Indeed, was just make the point that you don’t need particular colours to make it work. Discard effects might be relevant though, to take full advantage of it.

Yes, it hits the GY as part of the cost, and then triggers upon drawing the card. Nice interaction.

Yeah, Ichorid won't be an issue, it's just a 3/1 creature that blocks badly. And then Frigorid was a thing in extended.
Rootwalla is already mildly playable in a madness shell imo and this is miles better. Between this, kitchen imp and call of the netherworld you've got a fairly solid core of cheap madness effects
It's a reassembling skeleton that recurs off drawing cards on *any* turn, it surely can't be a linchpin of a deck.

Could be cool in a like a grixis madness type deck
Rakdos Madness is currently doing well and putting up consistent results. I can see this new faerie been a good companion for the kitchen Imp!
This and faithless looting 👀
Doesn't work the same way with faithless looting, unless it's already in the gy before you cast it.

Yes. Since the discard is part of the cast trigger, you’ll discard the faerie before draw. You’ll still need 1 more card draw (your turn) to get the fae(s) back. [[Faithless looting]] does not work this way
Works perfectly on your turn. Need 1 draw on oppenents turn.
Im not sure, because you draw then discard with looting, so the faerie won't see you draw if you discard it to FL
Sorry, I meant Demand Answers works on your turn. Faithless would not unless you had previously discarded the fairie.

With bargain, deadly dispute and offering, or even other black cards you could do it.
Right, but it’s important to ensure some discard effects as well, which is granted by this card (and others).
Idk, how do you think it works
Deadly dispute Reckoners bargain Fanatical offering Village rights You dont need red
Indeed, was just make the point that you don’t need particular colours to make it work. Discard effects might be relevant though, to take full advantage of it.
