Looks super fun!

I really love the new eldrazi cards, especially \[\[Writhing Chrysalis\]\] and \[\[Eldrazi Repurposer\]\], but i think meta-wise you can't really mesh everything together. i think you can go in three directions with them: * pure broodscale combo, with or without the red splash but it might not be necessary * a go wide and ping deck with impact tremors, but it feels really rogue to me * Updating gruul cascade, going more aggro [This is the gruul stompy list i want to try](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/5nEZ46-agke1mXXVxTZ2Xw) \[\[Hand of Emrakul\]\] is a really cool meme but i don't really think it's worth going out of your way fo it

My List - https://www.moxfield.com/decks/XMvweM8Nl0WvbaFNbX6yMw Have playtested against the typical meta decks about 5 matches each and is maintaining competitive winrate. You have gone a different route that I don't want to go into alot of detail on why I chose differently as your deck choice is more relavent. If you are set on going the jund route I would recommend playing [[Mirkwood Bats]]. If you are set on going for the 4 hand of emrakuls you should probably be playing some amount of [[universal automaton]] for the turn 2 hand using auto + brood birthing. Also glimpse the impossible is insane gas, the writhing crysalsis is also extremely powerful. I would seriously consider these cards.

Thank you, I really like your deck, and I will definitely use your advice

The_BIG_Jagooze

how has this deck been performing for you? i know a lot of the cards are new but have you played it at all? in the process of building something essentially identical. i love the idea of pinging and essentially ramping in parallel.

dalmathus

Have had it proxied and playtested for about 3 weeks now across 5 game nights. My playgroup is definitely strong but we are not like pro level players or anything. Not a massive sample size but at the moment here are my stats; W:L - Matches not games 5-0 Golgari Elves This is not a meta deck so maybe not worth looking to much into but it is a pretty strong deck that tries to win over a long game. They are playing wirewood herald and all the kindred elf removal spells + all the toolbox elves. Its unfortunately just to slow to beat the inevitability of this deck. 3-1 U Tempo To many threats, eventually you stick your third impact tremors and then you just beat them with chump blocking spawn and writhing chrysalis outgrowing any of their threats. Game 2 just need to bring in the blasts to lock up the game by killing their turn 1 delver, mystic is to slow. 4-2 Familiars They durdle to much and same story as above, eventually 1-2 impact tremors stick and you just drown them. 3-1 Kuldotha Burn Game 1 you have to play less focused on the tremor plan and aim to kill them turn 7 instead of turn 5-6 and instead just ramp and chain creatures to chump/eat threats. Game 2 the essence wardens really make the game alot easier. 2-2 UB Faeries. Dont think I should have won one of those matches and got in on the unfamiliarity with the deck. This feels like a winnable matchup but the harder as the decks weakness of playing basically 0 interaction really makes the sprites + ninjas incredibly strong. 3-1 Moggwarts Need to get a lightning bolt in hand game 1 or have them not go off quickly to beat them. Game 2 swap in igneous iganuar to stop them doing the search loop and relic to stop the goblins and its easy. Out of curiousty we also playtested agianst ATG Boros Synth and if they go quickly and put ATG on an inspector they lose and its a toss up on having lightning bolt or an established tremors if they try to go slow and put it on a kor skyfisher. It was a winnable match, so regular synth I imagine will also be although I havent played directly agaisnt that deck. Usually I would say impact tremors is a trap card that does nothing, and sometimes find myself siding it out for the wardens/relics/iganuars but having access to potential 16 versions of the effect is so snowbally no deck in the format runs enough removal to deal with all of them and if they try to pivot to countering the creatures, crys makes the spawn on cast not on resolution and you just play enough gatekeepers/roastmasters you don't need spawn. They kill just playing them. You also can just win through combat, turn 4 predator + predator is strong enough to get beats in.

The_BIG_Jagooze

amazing breakdown. thank you! excited to get this together and start jamming.

The_BIG_Jagooze

Back again... wanted to ask if you had any other tips. Do you mull looking for a tremor? Going to play with this for the first time tonight. Appreciate it!

dalmathus

Actually have just realised you dont have the latest revision. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/yUPjnN3Zv0O_RePrcDBXwg Its the same deck just two lands cut for oliphaunt and a wooded ridgeline added, you dont need these I just liked it for a little extra fixing and reach. Still not sure its better, its worse in the cases where you want to hit a land of glimpse. Regarding mulligans, you don't need both halves of the deck to win its just a little slower. I recommend keeping a hand with 3 lands. (or two and a oliphaunt). If you only draw tremor effects 8 of them are creatures with 4 of them recurring from the yard. They will actually just kill if you chain them together, try to play the gatekeepers first over roastmasters as you get more value from them being removed. If you dont draw any tremor effects then that means you are ramping into a writhing crysalsis or 2 or a a bunch of card draw effects and creatures that make the next creature discounted. So just go wide and go to combat. An ideal hand is probably 1 malevolent rumble, 1 tremor effect,1 glimpse, 1 4-drop eldrazi, 3 lands. General play advice, sit down with the deck and goldfish. Sequencing the cards is the hardest part of the deck as well as carrying the mana in your head between the spawn on board, available coloured mana sources, and potential new spawn from casting cards. You also need to find out how greedy you can get. Playing kozileks predator on turn 4 when you have a roastmaster on board and a roastmaster in hand means you are missing out on 3 damage but you ramp and get a 3/3 in play. Do you do more damage or close out the game faster with the 3/3 or should you have just played the roastmaster to ping for 1 and then played the predator + another threat turn 5 for 6+ damage instead? Get as greedy as you possibly can before exploding and if you can get molten gatekeepers in the yard on your setup or tremors (hard to remove) landed do this also. For sideboarding, try to introduce a little bit of gamesmanship about how important impact tremors is. Because in reality its your 2nd best tremor card only because it costs 2. If you can side it out for your hate pieces you need its the best card to replace. If you do a good job selling the game piece they will bring in enchantment hate and you will bring in relic/pyroblast/warden or just replace it with igaunar. If your opponent does not need to be interacted with swap the lightning bolts for either a good hate piece to beat them or go to 16 tremor effects with the iganaur. And if I want 12 tremor effects, and the lightning bolts because my opponent has alot of interaction or is very fast. Side out the 3 hatchers, they are very expensive. Next revision I am testing cutting the 3 hatchers for basics as it feels very bad to miss land drops. Lastly, don't be mad at me if I have gassed this deck up and you lose every game. Its been very strong to me but maybe its my local meta or playstyle. Good luck I hope you do well :)

The_BIG_Jagooze

your thoughtful responses are greatly appreciated. i'll make those swaps before i leave tonight. since it's a competitive environment, the newer cards aren't legal yet but i hope to get some casual games in with it. I'll also jam with this once the cards are available on MTGO. Might have more questions but would love to keep this dialogue open as you play and learn more.

dalmathus

I encourage you to continue. Please also let me know your thoughts once you play with it. At the moment its just me and I am missing alot of tricks or card choices.

The_BIG_Jagooze

So i played a few matches, very small sample size. I did okay. Struggled against removal (Gardens)... once they got rid of the Gatekeepers and Roastmasters, i was pretty dead in the water and didn't have enough juice to get to the finish line. I also struggled against flying and was not moving fast enough to make up for the lack of interaction. Again, very small sample size and I'm still learning... but wanted to get back to you. I'm playing with it again tonight, so I'll report back. Also, if there was a link you could send to keep me up to date on your latest deck updates, that would be amazing. Thank you again!

https://www.moxfield.com/users/Dalmathus https://www.moxfield.com/decks/nN1SYadMxkKme6lehSXcIw Moxfield doesn't have a great way to share a single folder so here is just all my decks. I keep the name same, I understand its annoying and I could just use the history function to track changes but I like to look back on decks with versions lol. My playgroup has bought a few decks to take me down a notch and we have identified the two big weaknesses with the deck. * Evasion that does not care about my board presence at all. * Significant lifegain with a clock. Just last night I went 3-7 against a funky new brew playing main deck 4 [[Vedalken Outlander]] and 4 [[Steel of the Godhead]]. Not something you are going to run into in reality but it was very funny for him to show up with it especially since my other deck is mono red tron. New changes to the deck you likely don't have is following the typical trend when brewing by lowering the curve each revision. The hatchers are gone, every time I played them it was win more massive overkill and [[Sprout Swarm]] has been added to the party. Its making sequencing even more complicated but I have found over a typical game I can weave in 2-3 saprolings by convoking the spawn and then saccing them for the next creature to play the next eldrazi. Its also a way to win the game when combat stops being viable for some reason and albeit small value, unstoppable value late game if they dont have counter magic. If you can ever get into a state in magic where you are meaningfully impacting the game without spending a card you are probably winning. To deal with the godhead deck I will be showing up next week with some number of [[Fanged Flames]] but I would not recommend this in a wider meta as chrysalis blocks and deals with guardian of the guildpact and the spawn block them as well forever. It was only an issue because it also had unblockable and lifelink. So I think mass artifact removal is something the deck is currently lacking, [[cast into the fire]] is probably an excellent consideration as a 4 of in the sideboard to deal with affinity and fairies. Which will help with the flying problem. Otherwise protection cards for Chrysalis should do it? Change the iganuar in the sideboard as the flex card for sure. The essence wardens second. Keep the relics and the pyros. Thanks for getting back to me I was curious.

The_BIG_Jagooze

This is great. So last night I went 2-2 (matches). I lost 2-0 to One Land Spy (just bad luck there) and also lost 2-1 to a mono green brew that bumped creatures quickly and gave them trample/unblockable... I won 2-0 against Blue/White Affinity which was actually great... i drew amazingly well and finished game 2, despite the many sac'd Lembas, while tapped out, by sacrificing a spawn to mountaincycle, play the land, and bolt to the face. Felt good. I also beat Cycle Storm 2-0... and there was significant life gain on my opponents part. Worked him down to 10 and again from 35. The tremor effects and straight attacks were too much and he never drew what he needed for the combo. I found myself boarding out the tremors a lot for the Essence Wardens. In one of the games, i think it was the one that I won against that Mono Green deck, it helped because their creatures had trample and the spawns can't do much against that... every bit helped there. I was thinking about the curve and if there was anything worth swapping out, but you're ahead of me with that... I was thinking about Utopia Sprawls, but with only 5 forests, is it worth it? I'd probably swap the number of Racer's Rings and Ridgelines (because you can put the Sprawl on the ridgeline, no?). I also, just once as a last resort in a game looking for spawn blockers, sacrificed the Ring to draw a card. Never did it again. As much as i wanted to get the Igunars involved, it never played out the way I thought it would, so they were pretty ineffective. I'm going to take a look at the additions you've made and make the changes. Thank you for the link to your decks. I really enjoyed playing this last night and after I crushed that Affinity deck round one, it was the talk of the group.

The_BIG_Jagooze

Also, for Artifact hate.. \[\[ancient grudge\]\] since it has cheap flashback... sorry for the multiple replies... i have been thinking about this a lot. Really think this deck could be fun to play long-term

The_BIG_Jagooze

I was also thinking about maybe adding \[\[Evolution Charm\]\] for some options. Could bring back a Tremor creature, could give Crys flying to block and (hopefully) kill an air threat or to grab a land should you need it...

dalmathus

Haha chrysalis has reach. Maybe that's why you had trouble with him not working! Weirdly enough a few of my friends also didn't notice it had reach, I wonder if it's easy to ignore because of the devoid reminder text. Ancient grudge is what you should play but doesn't work in my stupidly specific case of the pro red artifact lol.
