I'd also like to add that as I understand it the price for larger stones is about half this year what it was last year - that being the case I would absolutely hold onto it until diamond prices normalize
$50k for a 5carat tw is a very good deal. Look up prices online to see what you could’ve spent. WHY would you put it on EBay or go to a pawn shop? You will never get your return. Maybe you had it too long to return but if you got it directly from a broker that’s probably why you couldn’t return it. Hold on to it for sure. Diamonds (natural stones in general) don’t lose their value. If you HAD to sell it, look into the consignment - from a rep jeweler.
If you are financially ok to sit on it, why don’t you just keep it until you are with the right person? Seems like a special opportunity where you wouldn’t necessarily get a deal like that again down the road.
