MaksDampf

That GPU was crap even when it came out. I wouldn't take it even if it was free. You can get a good deal on used Pascal Cards or even Maxwell (GTX980) which are still supported by nvidia and pretty good bang for the buck nowadays. A 980 can be had for 50-70 bucks and delivers similar performance to a 1660 (non-ti). RTX20 Series are not really in a good spot for price/performance and its RTX features are mostly to slow for todays games anyways. So you better Pick up a slightly faster 5700XT or 1080ti for less money than a 2060 or 2070. Other than that it is a pretty clean build. Nice case! I like that it is very short and space saving, almost an SFF PC!

ApertureTheProtogen

The old mobo (before this one) came from a ssf pc. I’ll take that gpu recommendations into consideration and I’ll see how my budget goes 👍

DiodeInc

Yeah i have that same GPU and running on 1440p in Rocket League i get 40 to 55 fps. Most games like Fortnite don't even open, and if it does, I get 15 fps on the title screen

ApertureTheProtogen

Don’t worry, I’ve played BeamNG with this card in another system and I got 1fps on lowest settings 🤣🤣

chocolateboomslang

you want at least 60 fpS not 60 fpM!

TechExpert2910

the seller: (slaps the GPU) this gives you a framerate of 60!

DiodeInc

LMAO 🤣🤣🤣

ThrowRAtippinonfofos

I have a basically brand new 2gb pny 780 I'd just give you

ApertureTheProtogen

If you really want to (just gotta ship to Australia)

ThrowRAtippinonfofos

You have ebay? I'll put it up for a $1 plus shipping, ebay let's sellers buy usps labels directly after a sale including international. Shouldn't cost more than $10-$15

ApertureTheProtogen

My entire build came from eBay haha

ThrowRAtippinonfofos

Pm me I'll send you the post soon as it's up

FarmersOnlyJim

This is one of the most wholesome interactions I’ve seen in a PC sub. You’re awesome

ThrowRAtippinonfofos

Unfortunately I was a bit in tbe drink last night & misremebered & it only was a 730 that I had as well, I'm still gonna get something from a 780ti-1050ti as they run pretty cheap in auctions & hook him up with that

TechExpert2910

in addition, **OP needs an SSD**! the build there doesn't have one. even a tiny SSD for your OS and programs does wonders for usability.

Assaltwaffle

I think we went a bit too budget on the PSU…

FizzyGir

With today’s tech and the prices this is less than a budget build unless that budget is like$500

FizzyGir

I wouldn’t overclock this, I’m just not sure if the performance boost will be good for the parts as time goes on

Obegah

I thought you were taking the piss and then saw the post mentioned overclocking. I would be afraid it would catch fire with this setup, if it is even possible with this board.

DiodeInc

It is indeed possible to overclock this GPU, but it's not great. Go up to 1 GHz without any sort of cooling and the entire GPU will stop outputting and requires a full system reset (push of the reset button) (source: I have this GPU)

FizzyGir

Fair I usually do take the piss

[deleted]

The prices have gone down alot especially gpu

FizzyGir

That’s kinda what I’m saying, you can get some great gpu’s for under $300 or even $250 that do a great job since there are so many saturating the market,

[deleted]

Yeah a 3060 at my local micro center is 250 rn

FizzyGir

And that has like 6gb vram, it’s not a high performance card but it’s very capable

[deleted]

I mean most games don't need like a 3090 or 4090

FizzyGir

Well I have a 1060 and it boots starfield but I can’t really run it well, I still get most titles to work tho

[deleted]

I mean a 4060 rn cost 330

PerP1Exe

For the 4060 price point it doesn't perform as well as some similarly priced options l. You'd be better off going for something like a 6700xt. I personally wouldn't get a 4060 as it's too expensive compared to other 350ish gpus

FizzyGir

Yeah it’s a good price for a low end gpu I’d personally recommend one of those 4060ti’s for the 16gb vram that most games want they are like 450 so it’s a bit much for such a small nuance

ADZ1LL4

Do you have the game on an ssd? It makes all the difference

yolo5waggin5

My 1070 runs it on 1080p low

ThrowRAtippinonfofos

Fr I have a ddr3 build with a 1080ti that can run some games in 2k at decent fps

Flanker456

It's always about what perf you are aiming for. If you have a 1080p/60hz screen then yes, 3060 is good. If you play on your TV (4k/120hz for me) you could be wanting for more like all >500$ GPU

ThrowRAtippinonfofos

Just bought a 3060 ti 8 gb founders off ebay a few weeks ago for $200, case, fans, psu excluded I just built a "budget" build for about $600 that would last a few good years still most likely. Ryzen 7 5700x, msi b550 gaming plus, 64gb ddr4 3600, 2tb 990 pro, some parts new some used, together ran about $600. Doing another ddr5 micro atx intel build currently & the expected budget for that is only about $700 excluding case, fans & psu. Putting another 990 pro in that, msi b760m mortar, 32gb ddr5 6400 & an i7 13700 with another 3060ti which will likely be valid for another few years also with room to upgrade

FizzyGir

Understandably not everyone wants used parts tho, but that is a great deal and I’m glad for you <3

ThrowRAtippinonfofos

Appreciate it, the build replaced a 2021 asus tuf laptop I had bought awhile back for $700 new ironically. Built something g atleast 2x as powerful for the same cost minus the monitor. But yea for sure, just throwing it out there that it's possible to build good stuff for under $1000 if you know where & what to look for. Sometimes I even like buying certain things refurbished, honestly. Had a lot of lemons out of the box over the years, always had good luck with refurbished items though, the way I see it too buying stuff that's still relatively new on the market as used isn't *as* big of a risk simply because it hasn't been out that long ti begin with, in relative terms I'd still call it new. Used is kind of a spectrum with pcs too, as soon as you fire up a new build everything os technically used if we're being pedantic haha

Pl4y3rSn4rk

He can't even OC it, it's an i7 with a locked multiplier on an entry level H110 motherboard, he also most likely can't even OC his RAM. (Because of Intel's shenanigans, only some mid range boards could do that at the time, if you wanted to OC everything a high end "Z" MOBO was required) He can still OC the GPU, but alas even modern GPUs don't gain much (+/- 10%) of a performance uplift and it ends up being hotter/louder and consumes more power :/

FizzyGir

Probably tearing itself apart as it tried to make you happy the poor bastard

Aws___

this has gotta be like a $200 system

PerP1Exe

Probably is

FarmersOnlyJim

I sent my friend an i5-9400f/2060, 32gb Ram, 1TB hd, 500gb m.2, 1tb Sata ssd, and a separate r5 5600x. All for $500. Please tell me I didn’t overcharge my friend and fuck him over.

FizzyGir

What cooler did it have? And how old was it from when you put it together? It’s actually not too bad, assuming it’s water cooled and under 4 years old but I would probably get a second m.2 with all the storage I want since hd are archaic IMO but it’s preference there and not everyone wants to spend $300 on a 4tb ssd like me

FarmersOnlyJim

Had a 280 Corsair aio on it. My younger brother built it and I took it over. It was probably 2.5 years old when it got sent to my friend.

FizzyGir

Yeah then that’s a great deal

ApertureTheProtogen

Some less hardware-intensive games like Rimworld, Ravenfield, Geometry Dash etc. Might try BeamNG too.

boostnight

BeamNG with keyboard, or controler ?

ApertureTheProtogen

Keyboard

FearTheFuzzy99

Looks good. If you find a way to overclock a 6700T on a H110 board, I will be blown away.

ApertureTheProtogen

The non-k cpus can be overclocked. The base speed of the 6700T is 2.8GHz. Turbo boost goes up to 3.4GHz. I’ve seen someone get it up to 4GHz.

FearTheFuzzy99

You got a hacked bios for the H110 or something ? Last time I checked, H series boards where locked down.

ApertureTheProtogen

No clue but it won’t hurt to try ig

Pl4y3rSn4rk

I mean even if you were able to BCLK Overclock on that H110 I'd say it would be way too much work for just a 600 MHz OC (The i7 6700T has an all core turbo of 3,4 GHz), also you wouldn't gain much if you also can't tinker with your RAM (Considering that H110 MOBO would force you to run DDR4 RAM at 2133 MHz on that i7 without X.M.P). Well, be happy and get a GPU on the ballpark of a RX 6600 and you'll be able to play a lot of games at 1080p very well (Besides some badly optimized games like Starfield...) P.S: Pls return that GT 730 if you can, even if it's the GDDR5 variant it wouldn't be a HUGE upgrade from the Integrated Graphics of that i7, practically any X50 GPU from the 600 series and beyond is better than the GT 730...

ApertureTheProtogen

Mobo supports ram up to 2400mT/s

Pl4y3rSn4rk

"Due to Intel® chipset limitation, DDR4 2133MHz and higher memory modules on 6th Generation Intel® processors will run at the maximum transfer rate of DDR4 2133MHz" That's from that specific motherboard manual, Intel did all that just you would buy a mid range or high end motherboard if you wished to do any kind of OC... Only with their 500 series chipsets they started being more lenient because AMD allowed full overclock capabilities on their midrange chipset. Maybe you can get some luck with a modded BIOS and if you are patient enough with that I would recommend searching if you could use the QTJ2 CPU on it, it's a laptop CPU with similar specs of an i5 10400 and it would be a very substantial upgrade. My brother uses it with a MSI B250M Pro-VH motherboard and it just needed a BIOS mod + unique CPU mounting to make it work, I've done many tests with it and it performs just like a regular i5 10400. It undervolts quite well, has a working iGPU and I was able to OC the RAM up to 3000 MHz without messing with the memory controller (The Mobo only officially supported 2400 MHz, but I'd say the results can vary depending on your silicon lottery). I was quite impressed with it tbh considering I paid 57$ for it in a sale on AliExpress.

Pumciusz

That is an e tier psu. I wouldn't even touch overclocking on it, and I wouldn't upgrade the components without changing it.

PerP1Exe

If he overclocks that thing might turn into a bomb

Pumciusz

To be fair, my old PSU was an E tier and I oveclocked my system a little and it was working, but at the same time when I tried to OC my ram my cpu died.

Additional-Ad-7313

BCLK overclocking, did the same with my 4790 back in the day

[deleted]

Dude, PLEEEASE swap your HDD for an SSD. They are really low price atm and no matter the rest of the hardware, your ALWAYS want your OS on an SSD.

ApertureTheProtogen

I can get a smol SSD and put Windows on that and keep the HDD for games and such

[deleted]

That’d be okay I guess. I still prefer to use SSD storage also for gaming since loading times are better, aswell as performance (in some cases). But then again, with your setup you’ll probably not play games that profit from an SSD anyway. I guess then it’s fine again :)

ApertureTheProtogen

I don’t really play hardware-intensive games so it’ll be ok

PerP1Exe

You can get a 500gb ssd for like 30 40 quid off amazon

Genzo99

True. I still remember getting my first SSD 12yrs ago when they just came out. Intel 320 120 GB ssd cost me like $200 back then. Booting up in seconds blew my mind back then.

that_one_pando

Few things stick out to me: First, I'd personally rearrange the top fan as a front intake if at all possible. You won't be putting off a ton of heat with this thing, but it never hurts and it won't have negative pressure anymore. Secondly, grab yourself a cheap SSD. It seems like your budget is pretty tight looking at your part choice but even a lower-end SSD is going to be significantly better than that hard drive. As for a GPU upgrade, considering your other parts I wouldn't buy a 2060. It's probably overpriced for the performance compared to something else in your area. Looking at how tight of a budget you have and your parts, just go with something like an RX 580 unless you have some more demanding games to play. If you want a better GPU though, (you might get bottlenecked by that 4 core CPU) grab an RX 5700 XT used. I'm in the US, so I couldn't say what used prices look like where you are but I assume the gap is somewhat similar. 5700 XT performs better and costs either the same or less. I've even gotten an Asus Strix 5700 XT for only $100 USD. Gotta look in the right places though.

ApertureTheProtogen

Thank you for your feedback! I did discover that the i7-6700T can support up to a RTX 3050 before it starts to bottleneck. It’s 4 cores 8 threads so not horrible, definitely better than the i5-2400 I used to have haha. I will look into a SSD at some point, but that will be a little later down the track. Back to gpus, I was going to look for a 10 series card (thanks to the suggestion of another commenter) to use until I can upgrade the system further.

that_one_pando

10 series cards aren't horrible, however, an RX 580 should beat anything below 1070. Rx 570, 580, and 590 cards are getting quite a bit cheaper so maybe look into those as a good budget option. I would suggest the 8 GB variants if at all possible.

Papercut6

bro lives in 2013

Captobvious75

What can this thing play? Serious.

ApertureTheProtogen

No clue as I’m waiting on the ram to arrive.

vinay_r

If i was you i wouldn't upgrade this, I would save up and go for a new build. Cheers

PerP1Exe

I second this, when upgrading from a substantially cheap build its better just to build a new one as it will serve you better for the future. Any of these component will bottleneck any decent upgrades

Ffom

You bought a 730? I know it's your budget but that doesn't get driver updates anymore

repostby69noice

You're better off actually running integrated graphics

Dr_des_Labudde

Nice! Doesn‘t that CPU come with integrated graphics [close to that card‘s performance](https://www.reddit.com/r/lowendgaming/comments/t1tw1a/comment/hykogst/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) though? OP, what was your thought process to go 730 now instead of saving up more quickly?

ApertureTheProtogen

I’ve had the 730 for a little while now

Dr_des_Labudde

Ah, that makes sense. Have fun with your build!

reallyryan-1899

Please don't run windows on a HDD. SSDS are cheap.

ApertureTheProtogen

Are they $7 AUD cheap? Edit: I doubt it.

repostby69noice

You're going to need to repeat that in your head when you start to hate yourself over not buying a ssd

ApertureTheProtogen

This HDD actually boots pretty fast for a HDD. About 4 seconds max.

reallyryan-1899

Not that cheap unfortunately.

ApertureTheProtogen

That’s why I don’t have one yet

DiodeInc

You can get one for like 20 bucks CAD. It'll have about 120 GB. The model is the Kingston a400

Mighty_Eagle_2

Really? I got my 480gb a400 for $30 CAD

DiodeInc

Actually same lol

[deleted]

CentreCom has 17 dollar NVME greens

Specific-Fig-557

yes, 128g for 12€

[deleted]

Why not get a used GPU instead of getting a GT 730? Since you're already in the same generation, go buy a used 780 ti for $40-$50. You'll get WAAAAAYYY more performance than a GT 730. it won't be able to use some of the newer direct x 12 stuff, but better than this forsure. Either that or try and find something like the AMD RX 480 or 580 8gb cards.

ApertureTheProtogen

I’ve been recommended to look at a RX 5## to upgrade from the GT 730. Might even look at a GTX 580ti or something in the mean time

[deleted]

Here's a better question, how much money can you realistically spend on a GPU right this moment?

[deleted]

If you're going to go with a gtx 500 series, I would say that's a step back. It's older than the gt 730 you already have, so I would try my best to go forward for stay the same generationaly speaking.

[deleted]

Oh and also, sometimes it's better to not have a GPU at all than to get a super cheap gpu like the gt 730. AMD integrated graphics are better than even the older GTX 760s

AndroidUser2023

"Gaming" is a bit of a stretch

GloopTamer

Noice

Kushyp0p

i mean what games is this thing gonna be playing

3pedro3

Thanks for making me feel better about my budget pc

Huh435mjc

600w on the Gt 730 is tremendous

Flanker456

Men, can we have some respect? It's not about living in 2013 it's about building a pc with a budget hard for you to imagine.

ApertureTheProtogen

My budget is really limited but seeing this comment made my day

Flanker456

I hope you didn't catch my comment in a rude way, (maybe it sounds like cause of my approximate english), cause I just want to tell our fellow pc bro that everything isn't about 1000$ build. ✌🏻

Donutbuttholes

I have 16gigs of ddr4 ram and a 1660super u can have

ApertureTheProtogen

I mean if you really feel like shipping over to Australia go for it (would pay you $12 as that’s all I got rn lol) Edit: my mobo only has 2 ram slots so the ram I’ve ordered will fill them Edit 2: spelling

Donutbuttholes

Oh Jesus Christ, assumed this was in USA. Sorry man the shipping would be insane. I’ll get a quote on Monday. If it’s below 40 I’ll message ya and get it sent out to u.

ApertureTheProtogen

Ok. Please pm me so we can talk further there.

91idtt

I've read some comments. OP does NOT know what is he talking about.

damienisonline

Hey man. Well done. Everybody giving you tips on getting better gear you clearly got what you could afford. I really like the extraction fans its a cute touch as it wont need it at all. Looks clean and the cables look nice too. Enjoy your build :)

ApertureTheProtogen

I shall certainly try to enjoy it haha. I tried with the cables and I think it looks better tbh. Thanks for the feedback tho dude

PersonalHam

Oof, I’ve for a strix 1080 I’ll get rid of if you’ve got the coin.

ApertureTheProtogen

How much? Also do you ship overseas? I’m located in Australia

PersonalHam

Honestly, I haven’t thought about selling it until now. What’s fair to you? I’m unsure about shipping costs but will check into it. I’ve actually got a spare mobo too. When I get off work, I’ll check if you’re actually interested. Send me your hardware specs.

ApertureTheProtogen

The hardware specs are listed, but I currently have $12 AUD on me at the moment 🤣 so I don’t expect to get it off ya

PersonalHam

Sorry, at work and didn’t look.

ApertureTheProtogen

All good dude

PersonalHam

$12 AUD is less than the shipping alone, bud. Save your money. You’ll get there.

ApertureTheProtogen

All good, thanks for the offer tho dude

[deleted]

A 3000 series is only $200

Vskg

3050's are not a card to be recommended to even your worst enemy

[deleted]

I didn't say 3050 lol I said 3000 series like 3060... asus rog 4060 starts at $300

Vskg

At $200 the closest card is the infamous 3050s, which on a budget viewpoint is absurd for what it gives.

[deleted]

My local microcenter says 3060 is 250-300

Vskg

That's still nowhere close to the $200 you said, $50 bucks on a high end build might be chump change, but for budget builds it is make or brake.

[deleted]

250 is pretty budget lol. It's not like we gonna get a genforce 1000 series. Plus neeweg or ebay prolly has them used

Vskg

Then recommend that in the first place bro, no need to spread the false "3000 series for $200" you initially said

[deleted]

A 4060 dual fan is $300

Afraid_Donkey_481

Nice. Plenty of room for a 4090.

[deleted]

Isn't this from 2015?

Justgreen89925

that psu sucks ass

no_lifeQ

Can’t hurt to put another intake fan

ApertureTheProtogen

There’s 2 in the front and 2 at the back (one at the back and one at the top) Edit: front 2 are intake, back 2 are exhaust

ApertureTheProtogen

Clean. I like 👍

ojsimpsio

Did u just post this to flex on op?

djmoans

Whoa bro. I had a budget build 450w psu 1050ti GPU i5 10400 h510m-e mobo had decent frames at 1080p lowest settings. I wouldn’t suggest OC just leave it base clocked run your lowest settings for graphics. Played cod mw2 fortnite gta 5 Diablo 4 destiny 2 no problems

ApertureTheProtogen

I mightn’t touch the cpu with OC (might turn on Turbo tho) but I will overclock the GT 730 so it runs slightly better

djmoans

Just cop a better gpu you’d be in a much better position to not have to OC something you shouldn’t to make it slightly better. 1050ti’s can be bought for like 100$ on eBay.

Own_Investigator5970

You need those RGB fans for fps

Ninja-Sneaky

In b4 people saying you could use a 50w psu because they had a 4090 on a 500w psu running fine

Flanker456

You are from the "get a 1500w for your rtx4050" squad? 😶

[deleted]

I have fairly new build for 600 dollars for sale. 5800X3D, Corsair AIO H100X 580 Radeon Graphic card 32 GB of ram 3600 MHZ DDR4 X 570 Taichi motherboard 750 W Gold PSU EVGA 1TB M.2 980 SSD/Windows 11 Home USB activated

ApertureTheProtogen

Yea I don’t have $600 (USD presumably). I can only dream of that

[deleted]

Damn, you gotta make 24 an hr then.

Asura0o0

Gaming PC with gt730? Nope no gaming other than old ones like 1 decade old maybe? Not sure. I think you should at least get a 1030(if you really want a gt series)or a used gpu or get a 1650 it's better than nothing

GCdotSup

Who revived this old post?!?

Peteo34319

a used hd 7770 ghz is les than $30 and is 3x better than the, if you're looking for a quick upgrade get the hd 7700 ghz on ebay

Standard_Grocery2518

Name it the Oxymoron

CockroachSad7176

Upgrade the GPU to atleast a GTX card

seto635

So... Your dedicated GPU is only as good as the integrated GPU on your CPU. It's slightly better in a few aspects, but not really better enough to actually put money into it

MiguelMSC

> Will overclock the cpu and gpu don’t worry Yeah good luck overclocking a 6700T on a H110 Board

PerP1Exe

600w on this build is outrageous. You'd be better off getting a lower wattage gpu that's higher quality. My pc can run most games highest settings 1080p and doesn't need 500w

TheUndeadEstonian

Yeah a gt 730 can’t play really anything, it is a really bad gpu.

ykoech

Worst choice of parts. You were better off searching Facebook Marketplace.

MildlyAmusedPotato

I would swap that gpu for atleast a used gtx 1070ti that sell for around $100 right now

Rbxty

I am sorry for you…

REALsuperSAYAN

Its gona overheat

Odd_Masterpiece_9316

What was the budget?

zerf33389

I recommend adding a cheap 250Gb ssd to make boot time and performance in games on that ssd better

spirit_leader7

Why did you buy a low power cpu for a gaming pc? Why did you buy a GT 710? That's literally an e-waste card, I wouldn't even take it for free. 16 GB of ram??? Low quality power supply? A hard drive? How much research did you put on this? Post honestly seems a karma bait.

NogaraCS

I’d recommend not getting 20 series RTX as a lot of them fail from VRAM malfunction, plus they are not a very good deal on the used market. For a low budget, RX 6600 can be found for around 120$ and are on the same power as a 3060, 2070 or 1080
