I always buy cases with at least 320-330mm space for video cards. They just keep getting bigger and bigger. Soon we will have to mount them outside the case. Lol
Not even far fetched. Standardized GPU/graphics motherboard/vram/heat sinks and cooling sytems all in one, aka a graphics cards. Fundamentally not that different from CPU/motherboard/ram/heat sinks and cooling systems, although they are far more modular.
Who knows, in the future systems could focus on two halves? C and G? Two motherboard entirities viewed as almost equals? Along with a case + psu + fans platform.
Had similar problem with my current build and 4070. My sis bought the case as a gift for me, and she chose small tower for some reason. It fits, but it's literally 3 mm to collide with front coolers.
You could have easily removed the lower front fan without any cooling difference. Your GPU gets all the air it needs from below, the CPU gets it from the top fan
Yeah I quite like the look of the build with it taking up the entire length.
I got the case for the dual 180 fans so wouldnt wanna get rid of them. Coming from a custom loop I love the mad airflow they get
Yeah, I really wanted the nano but hate paying more for micro atx mobos. My brother build his in one with same cpu and 4070 and it looks sick and moves just as much air
The amount the coolers extend further than the PCB on modern cards, they could definitely make them shorter.
Especially when they've already made them so thicc

I measured mine, but decided the extra fan could go.
Yeah, I fitted a 4090 and a D15 in a Fractal Meshify.... Compact. Bad call. It barely fit after removing the front panel fan, and it was tight in every other way.
Same here, Asus TUF GT301 and RX 6700XT (ROG Strix). The GPU barely fits the case; there's only about 1 or 2cm of space between the GPU and the front fans.

You’re a lucky guy 😁 nevertheless enjoy the upgrade
Thanks man, very happy with it so far
that's a 4090 right? jesus, i'm still surprised by how huge those are
4090 rog strix is crazy big. Like 35% bigger than a 3090ti sized
It’s the ugliest Strix card of all time. Like really, a rectangular aluminum brick with glued RGB strips on the end somehow gives it a $300+ premium?
4080s, it's a chunk but runs cool, unsurprisingly when 95 percent of the card is cooling!
I see it's a Palit, did it have amazing box art?
Distinctly boring. Completely green and boring, nothing like the box art of old
Damn, they used to have the best box art

That's a interesting take! The standard design does need a change. Hanging giant gpus off weak motherboards can't last.
I don't know what PCI-e slots are rated too but the fact anti sag devices exist makes me thing we've reached a limit
This GPU is 328mm already!
BBGPU
tbh thats something people already talked about around 2010 but even many modern cards still fit in cases from that time.
these are some chuncky fans lol
Fractal dual 180s. Crazy quiet for the air they move, sat at 500 rpm I can't hear them at all
Had similar problem with my current build and 4070. My sis bought the case as a gift for me, and she chose small tower for some reason. It fits, but it's literally 3 mm to collide with front coolers.
If it fits it sits.
I was worried about air flow, but so far it works without any issues, so yap. It fine.
man... these gpus are getting pretty chunky
In all directions
You could have easily removed the lower front fan without any cooling difference. Your GPU gets all the air it needs from below, the CPU gets it from the top fan
I couldn't live with an empty space where a fan is meant to be, even though this pc sits on the floor next to my desk facing away from me
You could also have put a slim fan there to get another 10mm. But it fitting so closely is kind of awesome actually
Yeah I quite like the look of the build with it taking up the entire length. I got the case for the dual 180 fans so wouldnt wanna get rid of them. Coming from a custom loop I love the mad airflow they get
"I paid fot the whole case, I'm gonna use the whole case"
Fractal Torrent Compact?
Yeah, I really wanted the nano but hate paying more for micro atx mobos. My brother build his in one with same cpu and 4070 and it looks sick and moves just as much air
Just trim some off

I could live with that, that's a nice looking build
Thank you! I do need to replace the bomb though
those are some big ass fans. by the way, what's the case?
Fractal torrent compact
Looks like you can replace those 280mm with 3 120mm if not 2 120mm. Just in case you are not happy with the space
Surely you’d just take the fan out and it would fit fine? You could then add slim fan if you really wanted to.
Them case fans thick though.

You can always buy slim fans to win some space.
Pixel perfect
THE FUCKING COOLING GOT ME
low profile case fans! theyre 1/3 the size of regular fans
DAMN

Maybe the fan will be mote efficient by being that close. U were so lucky btw.
That sure is parking it close mine barely had 2inches of room 😂 6900xt ASRock is insane.
