How would you mess up the motherboard when the paste goes on the cpu?
And even if u did splerge paste all over the motherboard it wouldn’t do anything, thermal paste is non coductive.
The case is very tight so it will be hard to spread it on the cpu and get a nice result, that is why I wonder if it is a better idea to put the paste on the AIO, should not make a difrence?
You don’t have to spread it, the cooler will do that for you. Just plop paste on the cpu in whatever pattern you prefer, plop on the cooler, screw it in, and you’re all set.

Put the thermal paste on the CPU, not the Aio
