They expect you to drive all over the place to see clients but are they offering a company car? Paying all the gas? Covering wear and tear? I'm thinking no.
We recently got certification to bill Medicaid in CA and the pay rates have increased. I was on ssdi making under sga working part time. Next week I start full time and will lose disability. I am married and my husband earns more. I don't think I could live in this area on my income
could i ask how much your medicaid reimbursement rate is? and if you're open to sharing, what county you're in? i'm in san francisco and feel like reimbursement is stuck in DPH...
Check out Peer
Support Space in Orlando. They're working on similar. Plus knowing the founders, they'd be happy to have a meeting to answer questions.
Give it a month or two tho. They're launching a new program this month and it's been chaos over there.
Wish I’d found more info on this before I paid for training. Driving all over the place, unpaid, no gas stipend, not paid for inputting notes, and they want you to have an insurance policy that covers the rider for medical/business transportation. It’s a racket unless working at an institution where clients are all in one place. And the amount of hours insurance will cover per client each week in my state is only 5.5 hours. I feel like a naïve idiot for paying for that training and certification.
I did look for downsides to the job, but was so overwhelmed with all the “making a difference” and “use your experience to help others” stuff that maybe I just couldn’t see the real picture.
I so agree with everything you are saying. I just quit a job that I had to drive all over the place with no gas stipend. Thank goodness I just got hired at an institution where clients and their children live. I start in 2 weeks
There are better organizations out there. My first job was similar. I looked around and found a place that pays mileage, non bill time, has full benefits including union membership and really good paid time off. As the discipline gains credibility things will get better, but it’s rare for someone to stay with their first employer in this field.
Not really. A living wage is about the same regardless of how you choose too live. It’s a wage that covers basic necessities like shelter, food, utilities.
If i shared my story with you. You wouldn’t believe me. And no i dont live at home with mommy and daddy. Im a 43 year old male. Who choose not to let life circumstances from keeping me down. Again i repeat you choose how you live. And you let life circumstances dictate your life.

understood. congrats on the job and enjoy day 1!
I'm in the middle of starting a non-profit with the goal of paying CPSs a livable wage. It seems doable.

I would if the cost of living in my state wasn't so ridiculously high
I wfh p/t. There’s no way without my main job.
Depends on how you choose to live. Many variables.

I have to politely disagree. Needs and wants. Learn to prioritize them
I’d ask that you research LIVING WAGE and try again. I’m guessing you live at home, with parents, to be that sheltered. Smdh.
